Opiniones de Trattoria del Gallo Romentino
An elegant restaurant in the center of Novara serving contemporary Italian cuisine, where the dishes are always carefully crafted, tasty, and beautifully presented. Excellent selection of appetizers, first courses, and main courses (both seafood and meat), and often starting with homemade bread and amuse-bouche, which enhance the experience. The staff is very friendly and professional, the service attentive, and the atmosphere relaxed yet refined. Excellent value for the quality offered, and reservations are highly recommended as they fill up quickly!
The owner was very hospitable. We were a little late for lunch, but in no time, a cozy table was set for our group of eight Belgians. We immediately felt at home...
Good old-fashioned osteria (without the "h"). Unbeatable value. Fixed price: €23 with wine. I asked and was told they only offer the daily menu, even when they open in the evening. Three first courses and three second courses. There was no dessert. Still, it's perfect for those who need to eat lunch away from home every day without spending a fortune.
A village trattoria with a traditional menu featuring some delightful additions. They grill good meats and have a set menu during the week. Definitely a great place to spend a couple of hours enjoying good food. The salami appetizers are delicious, as is the mascarpone dessert with Novara biscuits.
Simply one of the best Italian cuisines I have ever had
We arrived just as the kitchen was closing, but they still served us with kindness and made us feel right at home. The €13 set menu included a starter, main course, side, water, wine, bread, and coffee. The salmon macaroni was simply spectacular. Delicious, fresh, and homemade; we'll definitely be back if we're in the area. Don't miss the rosé wine—it's excellent. Thanks to the chef.
Great rustic restaurant with really friendly owner.
What a lovely evening at a negligible price. The location is very simple, the food is very good, the owners are kind and attentive, and the price is very low. Given what's out there, there should be a line outside every day. Congratulations! I'll leave some photos. Highly recommended!
Superlativooooo
Exceptional restaurant, homey atmosphere, with dishes certainly better than those of more prestigious restaurants. Strengths include the quality of the menus, the owner's hospitality, which manages to create a family atmosphere that is also reflected in the "quality of the regulars," the affable and welcoming people... the staff, completely in tune with the customers, always makes the company pleasant. The icing on the cake is the quality/price ratio, and to top it off, the homemade desserts, often made by an excellent chef who deserves a rose... an oasis in the middle of the desert. Bravo!!!
Small traditional restaurant and the staff is really nice and helpful! Food was very good, too. Communication only in italian or with hands and feet though.
A trattoria like those of the past. A family-run establishment without any pretensions of luxury, but warm, friendly, and even charming. If you're also there for the food, the food is excellent and plentiful, prepared to please. Massimo also has a small adjacent garden where he grows tomatoes, blackberries, melons, and watermelons... which he also supplies to diners as locally sourced produce. It's not very far from the highway, so it's worth stopping by to see how delicious it is. The quality/price ratio is excellent.
I went there with some colleagues for lunch and we had a great time, not to mention the delicious food. The owner, Massimo, is very kind and friendly, and the staff is also very friendly. We had a first course, a second course with side dishes, house wine and soft drinks, dessert and coffee, and at the end we paid as if we'd only eaten one course. The portions were generous and very tasty. Everything was fresh and of excellent quality. We sat in the outdoor seating area, which was comfortable and very informal. The tiramisu was truly excellent, and the vegetable garden next door was an added bonus. If you're passing through, we highly recommend stopping by.
Zamira..number one
A truly spartan trattoria in a good way. The food is excellent. It's a shame there are no appetizers, or they didn't offer them to us. Vitello tonnato or bagna cauda would have been appreciated. There's no set menu, but that doesn't matter. Overall, excellent value for money! Recommended!
Trattoria del Gallo in Romentino was a real discovery for Watson and I: it's been around forever, but perhaps that's why we'd never considered it. Located essentially in the center of Romentino, it's a typical village trattoria/bar that has gradually expanded its original location, transforming the courtyard adjacent to the main building into a veranda seating about sixty people, serving traditional Novara cuisine with a touch of Pavia influence. The welcome is typical of an osteria: a moment of suspicion, then immediately frank and sincere. The place certainly doesn't reflect the most current standards of restaurant decor, but you can find some real modern gems, such as knives with colored handles and half-serrated, half-sharpened blades that I defy anyone who didn't have one at home in their youth (at least if you were born between the late '60s and early '70s!). We immediately ordered two dishes of Paniscia, a braised beef with polenta, and a plate of chicken strips. Concerned about the proportions, we foolishly didn't order the grilled meat, which regular customers immediately put on their tables. What a shame! We then finished with a tiramisu and a cake, along with two coffees. The Paniscia was excellent, even though it was Light, to please the younger, more weight-conscious diners. The main courses were good (the polenta wasn't particularly hearty, but that's okay); the desserts were also good. The wine, a still Barbera from Oltrepó Pavese, wasn't quite up to the Paniscia's standards, but it paired well with the entire menu. We paid €25 per person, including water and cover charge! It's understandable why there are so many families at the tables: everyone eats well for a reasonable price, and that's rare these days. You can't miss it!
Good value for money in this trattoria restaurant as it once was. Great first courses, small meat-fish dishes The chairs need to be changed, uncomfortable for eating
