On January 8th of every year which would be Elvis Presley's birthday, Chuys host an live Elvis impersonator event. We had so much fun! The impersonator was really good. Didn't look like Elvis but he sounded so much like him and had on a nice costume. We got there during happy hour which made the event even better. The Tex Mex food is very good and filling anytime. Going on January 8th and watching, listening and dancing to Elvis music just made it better.

Can't go wrong here. Great food, fast and friendly service. Boom Boom enchiladas is where it is at.

Can't believe I haven't reviewed Chuy's until now. We came to Texas in 2011 and I think Chuy's was one of our early Tex-Mex discoveries... it was love at first sight. From the moment you walk-in your senses are blasted with the bright colors of little wooden fish hanging from the ceilings, their famous T-shirt collection hanging on the wall (collectibles) and the lighted metal palm trees inside the restaurant! Walls filled with vintage hubcaps! Pictures of Elvis and classic cars, old airplanes and the famous dog-picture wall. Then your eyes are drawn to a tortilla making island where they make their tortillas nearly non-stop. Their famous full bar with all kinds of margaritas (prickly pear/lime blend)... too many specialty drinks to mention. Beers of all sorts and there is the backend of an old Cadillac or Chevy with its trunk open thats a serve yourself Chip, Salsa, Creamy Jalapeño and Cheese Queso bar during happy hour! The servers are usually sporting one of their Chuy's Classic T-shirts or a Spurs T on game nights! They are usually real pros and we have our favorites! They bring you a piping hot tray of chips with their own awesome salsa... heads-up! some nights they are a bit more generous with the jalapeños! Here is my Tip!... ASK THE SERVER TO BRING YOU SOME OF THEIR FAMOUS "CREAMY JALAPEÑO DIP" BUT SLOW-down on the chips cuz your just getting started! The menu has just about every Tex-Mex Classic but with a Chuy's spin... e.g. The Elvis Special is a combo plate you probably can't finish. Their Chicken Tortilla Soup is absolutely our favorite... really. Taco salads are fresh and perfect for those nights you aren't too hungry... They have a stacked chicken enchilada made with blue corn tortillas and a creamy verde sauce that you will dream about. Too many plates to list here but we haven't found one yet we didn't love! And... just when you are slowing down and realizing you ate way too many chips... You should know... they are famous for their TRES LECHES CAKE!! When even one of our kids come to town and for sure when everyone comes to visit... A Chuy's visit is on the must-go list! There are multiple locations, so find the one closest to you.. We love Chuy's!!

Loud, but who cares! You can't talk when your mouth is wrapped around a taco or burrito from Chuys. The food is extraordinary. If you're in the area, stop at Chuys.

I can say that until this visit I had never eaten at Chuy's. It is a gem of a place. The atmosphere is great, the service was impeccable (never had an empty glass and the chips were refilled multiple times) make sure you go easy on those because the portions of food are huge. Speaking of food, I am not a spicy food eater (I don't go past mild), you have an option of the green chillies or one of their more milder sauces on pretty much all the food. I went with the steak burrito with ranchero sauce (I recommend). The chuychimy was also ordered but not finished due to "someone" filling up on chips and salsa.

One of my favorites if I'm not looking for a local mexican restaurant. The atmosphere is great. I've had a lot of plates off the menu and I've never been disappointed. The margaritas are good and you have to get the ranch dip with the chips and salsa. I'm not a fan of their queso though. They offer several menu items that include the hatch chili pepper. Getcha some!

We go there fairly regularly. Last night 21 Oct 22 best visit ever. Server Alyssa was fantastic. Did everything we needed even making up new iced tea 30 minutes prior to closing. A pleasure for a family of 4 to have working for you. Food good too! Have had so-so service a few times before but she’s great!!! An A+ this time!

It is my first visit to San Antonio with my son in law and all family. After visited river front we all are hungry We went to this Chuy’s restaurants. I found friendly staff, prompt service and delicious food in all respects. I appreciate to a good management.

Visiting from out of state. Great place. Baja Shrimp tacos were hot (the shrimp), fresh, and delicious. Chips are thin and wonderful with great salsas. Enjoyed our meals and service was non-intrusive and straight forward. I always suggest to Mexican food restaurants to stock Jarritos and Señorial Sangria, so here it is 😂

We always look forward to going to Chuy's when we go to San Antonio! The one on I10 was closed due to a water pipe issue and the Manger gave us a free queso card! We sure did drive to this one and we were NOT disappointed! If you have not tried the Deluxe chicken with the tomatillo sauce enchiladas and the chuychanga you are missing out!! We had an amazing waitress and the food was to die for!! 🤤😍 The food came out super fast!! We love Chuy's! Please build one in Abilene, TX yall would make a killing!! And so we don't have to drive so far to get to one! 😃

Go here honestly TOO MUCH with my family and I love it. The food always slaps but somtimes im full before the food even comes out because of that addicting white chip sauce (no idea what its called but its BOMB) Food comes out super fast and the staff is always loving and sweet.

My family absolutely loves Tex-Mex! We were in heaven when we heard we were moving to San Antonio. After living in eleven different states, Chuy's is the best Tex-Mex we have ever had...the food is absolutely amazing. There have been times during my career that I have found excuses to fly to San Antonio just so I could eat at Chuy's every night for a week. We are in the middle of deciding where to retire...but wherever it is...it must have a Chuy's! Now, if I could only convince them to sell their creamy jalapeno dip in the grocery stores.

I once was pinned down by the Devil, in an attempt to steal my soul (I didn’t come through on my end of a deal with a demon, you know, kept my soul sort of thing). Anyway, things are starting to get intense, and I didn’t know how I was going to get out of it. Then all of the sudden, the Devil is flying across the room! I look to my left, and Eder Baez is landing superhero style, from successfully landing a perfect roundhouse kick to the back of the Devil’s head! He helped pick me up, and dusted me off. Told the Devil to not mess with his friends!!! Lil punk Devil took the off running with his tail tucked between this stanky booty crying full of shame and defeat! We all now play poker together on the second Tuesday of each month. And sit next to each other on the same pew at church on Sundays! Thanks again Eder! 10/10 customer service

This Chuy's is one of the best ones we've been to! Aracely is the best tortilla maker! They were so fresh! Edgar, our waiter was fantastic! Best Chuy's meal in a really long time! Great atmosphere--meaning, it's not so loud that you have to scream at those in your party. Just passing through, but we've eaten at quite a few. Met the sweetest and most attentive server-Gem. She really deserves an additional 6th gold star if it was available. Always love their light and thin corn tortilla chips. Add the jalapeño-ranch dressing dip and salsa for a perfect beginning. Tried the chicken enchiladas with their Hatch chile green sauce. Delicious and tender roasted chicken was the best. Also tried their al-carbon beef tacos. The meat had a beautiful grilled steak flavor and was so tender. You really should try it.

Always fresh, always friendly. It's a little noisy but that's because it's usually packed. Great happy hour from 5-7pm. They serve beans, ground beef, queso, salsa and chips. Drinks are good as well. We like the margarita martini served with stuffed jalapeno olive. Bartender Chris is an excellent server. My wife and I like the Mexican Cobb salad too. They have nearly a dozen salsas. Try the Hatch salsa. Chueys produce millions of hatch chilies each year and you get taste the difference. We highly recommend this place.

Food & service were good, Mexican Martini was also yummy. The jalapeño ranch was on point, as usual. We were told there would be a 20 minute wait, but we only waited between 10 - 15 minutes.

The swirl margarita was great. We were told our wait time would be 45 minutes but we were seated in just 20 minutes. We went around 8pm on a Friday.

It has been since pre-pandemic shut down since I have been into Chuy’s. Let me just say it was nice to be back. I love the layout of this location, a campy retro industrial chic. My Mexi Cobb salad was loaded. Check out the pics. Fresh salsa, great jalapeño ranch and ample amounts of chicken and avacado!

Real Mexican Food, and friendly staff. Home made tortillas prepared on site. Cuidado fellow gringos, some recipes are very hot! So ask the waitress. My wife is full blooded Latina and the flavor in her food even got her attention. Which doesn't leave much hope for the rest of us. Of course they have Tamer foods as well.

Second time eating here with my family. Excellent yet again. The food was so delicious. So much flavor in every bite. The waiter was spot on! Great food and staff. Cook staff deserves a high five with speed, taste, and presentation! I recommend the Chika Chika Boom Boom, it didn't disappoint.

First visit to Chuy’s and am happy I gave it a try! Service was top-notch. I dined solo and didn’t get the weird looks or inattentive service by staff of other establishments. They were all friendly and kind. I went with the server’s recommendation to try the combo plate substituting the chicka-chicka boom-boom enchiladas. It did not disappoint! Food came out quickly, huge portion (could definitely be split between 2 people), got to try a variety of menu items, and had plenty of leftovers. The chips were nice and thin, the salsa tasted fresh with a little kick. The only negative is that I wasn’t given the creamy jalapeño dip that everyone raves about with the chips, so make sure to ask if you don’t get it. I’ll be back to try it! Great Tex-Mex restaurant that I would recommend.

I love this place and get an EPMC whenever I come here. Duh, the Elvis Presley memorial combo! The king himself would love this meal and I could still see him finishing with some type of fried banana dessert.

It had been a loooong time since my wife and I had eaten at this Chuy's, so we decided to try it for dinner last night. We went early to beat the Friday crowd and were seated right away. Our server was outstanding, regularly checking on us as he waited on other tables, and we got our food fast. Both of us had the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom enchiladas and they were as good as we remembered. The chips were warm and thin, the creamy jalapeno and salsa dips were awesome. The entire staff was friendly, and one of the managers who happened to be outside as we left working with a pick-up customer took the time to tell us goodbye as he saw us come out. Bonus points. If there is any ding it would be our margaritas. They weren't bad, but seemed extra sweet and light on the alcohol content. Those could be improved. All in all, though, we had a very good experience and will be back.

Chuy's is going to be one of those must stop and eat for an amazing treat locations. We ordered online flawlessly and were given a 20 minute pick up window on time. Food was done and waiting when we pulled up. Food was hot, fresh, and neatly packaged for pick up. Order was exactly what we ordered online. ( Impressive in a world where we have an error an order everywhere) . Hatch burrito was on point and then some. Creamy jalapeno ranch dip was fresh, consistent, and popping. Combo fajitas were jam packed with flavor, meats were juicy and flavorful. Chips and fresca dip, both were outstandingly delicious. Beans and rice were robust and easy to scoop for delivery into the plate. We will be back. 👍👍and ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐.

In the end, I can confirm that Chuy's Parrillada are good, but Taco Palenque is even better. Always decent Tex-Mex..... Sometimes a little bit too rich and high in calories but the central Texas classic never fails to fill the belly. The fajitas are pretty good but not on the same level as somebody upper end Tex-Mex joints bike Lupe tortillas. Definitely a good spot to meet your friends or to take your family. They are open during covid-19...so definitely take this opportunity to get out of the house and enjoy some comfort food!

The chicken and cheese Chile Relleno was delicious. Our waitress tried, but she was not ready for a group of 24. The stress was written all over her face.... Expressions and tone. Of course there was a wait to seat all of us (no reservation available) however it would have been nice if they offered drinks or pointed us to the bar to order drinks during our 45 minute wait. Also would have been very lucrative for them. By the time we were sat, it was 6 minutes past the happy hour so no drink special for us. I did point that out and ask in a very respectful way. No luck. Of course that won't stop us from ordering what we please. Goes back to that wait time... Would have ordered more drinks had we been pointed in the direction of the bar. My husband had the steak burrito. Not sure how he finished it. It was ginormous. He did have a tummy ache after but only because he devoured that thing. I had the boom boom sauce on my Relleno and the queso and jalapeno ranch were delectable as well. Overall, pleased with the food and the Texas Martini (adult beverage) was tasty. (Was not served the olives, would have been a nice touch)

Chuy’s is usually on the consistent end of satisfying our need for Tex-Mex and green salsa that is heavenly. Most of the time we have really good experiences here and the food is great. The service has fallen off a bit over the last few years, but still solid!

The food and service were great. No wait at lunchtime. Unfortunately the bathrooms smell bad at this location. Even the hallway to the bathrooms smells bad. That's the reason for four stars instead of five.

Went for a quick light dinner and a Mango margarita!! Left with satisfaction, a full belly and leftovers!!! Always a great place to get a delicious meal. They need to redesign the inside decor though. Not sure what Elvis and the 50's has to do with Mexican food but I digress!

I've had bad experiences at a different Chuy's in the past, but this has changed my mind. Good food. I'm picky about Mexican food, so 4 stars is pretty good for me. Didn't like the salsa at all - only spice, no flavor, and way too much salt. The chips were ok, but too much salt as well. Had the Elvis Presley Memorial Combo of enchiladas, and it was pretty good. It could've used more sauce, but at least you could taste it, and it wasn't too dry. The sauces tasted good, which is part of why I wanted more. The rest of it was pretty standard, but I enjoyed the meal. It makes me want to eat there again, which I didn't want to before we ate there.

My wife and I have been looking for a Mexican restaurant in Northern San Antonio that's not full of itself or a hole in the wall or sounds like a high school cafeteria for quite a while. It looks like we may have found it :-). We had dinner at 4:00 on Sunday afternoon. As usual at that time, the crowd was very light. The wait staff is courteous and efficient. Our waiter was friendly and helpful. The food arrived quickly. I had a burrito and my wife had enchiladas. Both were flavorful and spiced correctly. The chips were absolutely great! The sauce that they brought with them were both good too. Prices were reasonable. My only gripe is they don't have draft beer. For the life of me I can't understand a Mexican restaurant without draft beer :(. Our bill with water and a tip was about $30.

Great option for Tex-Mex. I've been coming to this location for years and I absolutely love the design of the building add the Acapulco style with thatched hut roofs. The interior has a super cool design with metal sculpture palm trees everywhere throughout the interior. The food is typical Tex-Mex which is high in carbs and fat but it's okay for a cheat day. I go more for the experience than the food. Food is good but not the highlight of the experience. Margaritas are good and so are the nachos. The back patio is amazing and always in the shade and comfortable even on a hot summer day.

Came here for the first time today, June 9th. The food was pretty good, but we waited longer than expected. Others that were seated way after us got their food just minutes after we did. The food temperature should have been warmer. I think it was near a warming light, but not close enough. Flavor wise, it was pretty good. The rice was a bit mushy. The service was pretty good. Elvis was singing and dancing at the other end of the restaurant and hearing him sing Improved our overall experience. We will definitely come back. Hopefully Elvis will be there too.

I had heard the chatter about this place and I can see why. The food was very good. The salsa, chips and creamy jalapeño appetizers were fantastic! The queso is good but different than I expected. I had a burrito and it was huge, very filling and delicious! My kiddo enjoyed his quesadilla, rice and beans. My husband also really enjoyed his burrito. The only reason I gave 4/5 stars was because our server was really off. He asked if we would like more chips and we said that would be great….they never came. A while later we asked for refills and chips and those never came. My sons meal was suppose to include a dessert but that was never offered or brought to our table. We wait almost an hour to be seated and it’s unfortunate that the service was not nearly as great as the food. I will most likely be back to see if I have a better experience.

As far as Tex-Mex places I've visited, this is one of the best. Loved the location and the building vibes, our waitress Lisa was very nice and provided an excellent customer service. Food had a great taste and the portions were plenty (two people can eat from one plate). I'm not giving 5 stars due to it felt like our table was not clean well, and I perceived a funny smells (not bad) is just odd. Besides that I do recommend the place for a quick dinner and not expending a lot.

Love the veggie enchilada plate and their jalapeno ranch! They even customized their soft taco plate to suit our vegetarian palate. Even vegans can enjoy these plates without the cheese. Their service is pretty good except when they have less number of folks or new staff waiting tables.

One of my favorite places to go! I love the chips, salsa, and dip. The tortilla soup is delicious and the service is usually excellent. It is popular and can get quite loud, that is my only complaint.

Waitlist, got sat pretty quickly after we arrived. Our hostess was nice and dropped us off with our menus in a relatively quiet area of the restaurant. Our server didn't come by and left us sitting there for over 10 min with no silverware/drinks and on a dirty table. When she came by, she walked by fast, saying she would be with us in a min, then came by 5 min later and asked if we were ready to order dinner. We hadn't gotten to give our drink order yet even. When we spoke, she had kind of a mean girl vibe, sort of side eyeing and just generally annoyed. It was just uncomfortable. Our food arrived and we had to wait a few more min for silverware. Not going to give her name because don't want her in trouble specifically, but feel like she was probably over sat and having a bad night, so management should support staff better. I went to the restroom and saw her laughing with some other girls, but our drinks had been empty for a while, which also irritated me. The reason I'm posting this though is when she came to drop the bill, suddenly she was super nice and complimentary of me because I picked up the bill. It was weird and uncomfortable, and pretty clear she wanted tips without providing good service. We still tipped because we were raised right, obviously. Food was good. Their margaritas are awesome. We had their fajitas too.

Food this go around was just ok. Ordered nachos and the chips were stale. Instead of driving all the way back up there i had to eat then stale. Bean and cheese tacos had 90% bean, 10% cheese. If you have people pull into a spot and sit for 10 plus minutes, at the least bring out good food

First time trying out this location and had overall a good experience! Food: Ordered the fajitas for 2 and food came fast and hot. It’s a bit pricy in my opinion for the quality but nevertheless the food was enjoyable. And the alcohol beverage was good too. Service: I was greeted with a smile, the service was good, and I had no complaints.

The wait time took an eternity, or so it felt. I must say, I do understand it was the weekend so for that it wasn't a big deal. Parking was available even on a busy Saturday and the restaurant looks phenomenal from the outside, great landscaping. The host/hostess were very friendly as well were the rest of the staff. For a party of 8 our food came out fairly fast and so did our drinks. The atmosphere inside is very TexMex and the interior design fits the theme of the restaurant. The food tasted great, and the manager as well as our waiter constantly checked up on us for anything we needed. Great customer service there, clean place and good food. The only thing is they don't have agua de orchata or any other natural water flavors.

Music is great, food is good but the place can use some cleaning… lamps, windows, sills, one can’t rest your elbow on the sill. Look at hairs pic… other than that great place for lunch with friends. Playlist was cheerful and in English, not too crowded but we went on a Tuesday for lunch. Convenient location close to the airport and across the madeleine ( desert place). They also offer inside and outside tables which is nice

I've been to Chuy's before but this time it was horrible. Friend took a bite of the some beans and rice and bit into something hard. She spit out a piece of glass or plastic. It was hard to tell. Server immediately got a manager. Manager acted like she didn't know what it was and that there was nothing she could do other than comp the meal. The tacos al carbon she said were chewy. The salsa was watery. Chips were good as usual. Not overall impressed anymore.

I’ve been coming to a Chuy’s for 20 yrs and this last trip I was sad to see the menu change so much. Sopaipillas are a thing of the past. We placed an order and 2 minutes later the food was on the table. Definitely not cooked to order. Food quality has definitely changed, the ground beef in my burrito was not seasoned the way it normally is. It was very bland. Didn’t even finish it. These changes are so unfortunate.

The food isn't good. Expect diner quality if not a little worse. The wait staff are very kind and work fast, though.

Chuy’s is a good place to dine-in but a shitty place to order take-out in person. They have a window outside where there is one single chair (which was occupied by someone who arrived after me). I came inside to order two tacos but was directed outside where it’s damn hot. Very odd. I’ll definitely never do that again.

Inside light was too gloomy ... anyway they gave complementary chips & salsa which was very very SALTY, then chicken tortilla soup which was ok and then Sunday special Fat daddy enchiladas in which we only liked refried beans 👉very less chicken 👉bland taste.. everything came on $19

We haven't been to Chuy's in many years. This place is off the list. Our server was fantastic, but the food was not so fantastic. Come in, we're in San Antonio and you can't make good salsa, refried beans or Spanish rice. The margs were straight from the mix. If not the our very helpful waitress, this stop would have been really terrible. My funny picture kinda makes sense now, almost at the bottom of the hill.

Restaurant has a fun atmosphere and is family friendly. They were fast to seat, but service and food was slow. I ordered cheese enchiladas, and when they arrived, they barely had any sauce on them. The “fresh made” tortilla shell (which you can see them make in the restaurant) was crispy and dry. The cheese tasted rubbery rather than melted. There were burnt cheese pieces on the plate, so I suspect they just put the whole plate in the oven or worse yet, the microwave. And they used pickled jalapeños ?!? Gross, not fresh food! Very disappointed!! If you want good Mexican food, save yourself the disappointment and travel to La Hacienda ... it’s just a few miles down the road.

Disgusting. There was a used open sugar wrapper in my salsa. I told the manager they must reuse salsa. She blamed it on my server. Then my server gave me a mad go to he** look.

I so loved this restaurant,but today,it was so disappointing,I try to support as many still operating restaurants in this area,my server was unbelievably fanstastic,he was so professional,he was so upbeat and polite,unfortunately my dinner was so disappointing,I ordered fried shrimp tacos(,I don't really like fried foods),and I had asked if the chef could grill them, I should point out that Chuy's has severely slashed its menu down to almost nothing as to compared to before,when they actually had steak,refried beans,buttery rice and vegetables,I am so sorry to say those days are gone,what I received tonite was shrimp so small,and underly grilled,I couldn't even find them under the huge amounts of red cabbage,and pico de gallo,,I had to ask the waiter to show me where they were,they were on the bottom of the flour tortilla,,that had not been heated,so I got mini under cooked shrimp,red cabbage,and cold flour tortillas for 14.99. Chuy's this is the most disappointing dinner I have ever had,,,please I see you are building a drive thru,,please return your delicious well cooked dinners back to the menu,,and keep your best customers with deliciously hot food,not just with good drink specials.

Ordered with door dash. The order was missing many many items and when we called the store they said they couldn’t do anything about the problem it was a door dash problem. When food is missing from your order, that is a kitchen issue. I will not return. The manager, Clint, said he would send a dinner for two by mail but what about the three people who don’t get to eat tonight. And the fajitas really do need more than meat and rice. Bad bad bad.

I recently experienced the most disappointing visit. Despite a two-hour wait for our food, the meals were incorrect, and the replacements were served cold( also took forever to get). Unfortunately, my interaction with the manager was also horrific due to his unprofessional demeanor and sarcastic responses. We will not be returning to this location!!

I had enchilada dinner delivered. The Tortillas for enchiladas were rolled up cold with cheese inside. Cheese was not melted. Sauce was on top only. Rice tasted weird and there was something burnt underneath don't even know wat it is. The beans were super salty. 23.00 won't b paying again. The delivery was not a problem it was the food which went in trash. Also ordered scoop of guacamole n got a small plastic container where u would put sauce in the mini ones. Definitely do not recommend. First time n last.

After visiting once many years ago I had high hopes enjoying the restaurant again, unfortunately this was genuinely one of the worst restaurants I’ve ever visited. I don’t typically leave bad reviews but the food here is so mediocre and generic I don’t understand why people choose to eat here. My server kept making weird snarky comments which made me uncomfortable and lose my appetite. The restaurant has nice decor but the tables were dirty and the seating was poor, I was really hoping to like this restaurant since it has good reviews online but after wasting my time and money here I will be sure to advise others to avoid it. Do not eat here. Also, beware of the guac up-charge. It’s $9, geez.
