What a hidden gem in downtown the pasta is the best I ever had , I was craving for some seafood pasta and the chef was so kind to make one for me even if it wasn’t on the menu . I will be definitely be back soon

I recently moved here from Chicago. A city known for Michelin Star restaurants and kind people that make you feel like family. And honestly, of all the restaurants I’ve been to in San Diego. Decore is the only restaurant that tastes and feels like home. ❤️❤️❤️

Finally the real authentic Italian food I was waiting for in Downtown San Diego the pasta is simply amazing, homemade amazing texture with REAL Italian recipes . The design looks amazing and seams like they gonna add a super cozy outdoor area , they have an "affresco " reproduction on the ceiling perfect for Your selfies ;)

DeCore is a lovely new neighborhood Italian restaurant in East Village. Ingredients are high quality and the decore is nice. The servers, Giorgio and Giovanni, are really great. I enjoyed the mushroom ravioli . The fresh focaccia sips up all the flavorful sauce.

Best lasagna I have EVER had. Wonderful flavor with freshly made noodles and it melts in your mouth. 10/10 for this place

We have had two exceptional experiences here. The guys that work here are so kind and the service is fantastic. I’ve never eaten anything that I didn’t wonder if it was the best version of that entree I’d ever eaten. Food and drinks are simply fantastic. Highly recommend!!!!

The rigatoni has to be the best pasta I’ve ever had, and it’s prepared the same every time I visit! The bread is homemade and you can 100% tell, the service is warm and welcoming. I love this place so much!!! A must visit!

Stopped in to Decore last week for some snacks. Ended up ordering a bunch of things. All delicious. Steak tartar was very flavorful, didn't need the crostini at all. Oxtail ragu was my fave of the night, packed with a ton of oxtail, pasta cooked al dente. Tiramisu was to die for, probably the best I've had in years (and I've been to Italy!) Will definitely be back soon!! Also, interior is gorgeous, perfect for a romantic date night, catch-up spot at the bar with girl friends, or a small private party. Owner Gio and his staff are all gems. I'm happy to support a small business, especially when the people involved are welcoming and kind.

We had an unforgettable experience at Decore — this place is a gem! We came with a group of six and honestly wished we could have tried everything on the menu. They started us off with the most delicious bread I’ve ever had — seriously, I could’ve eaten a whole basket myself. For starters, we had the meatballs, Suppli (arancini), and Brussels sprouts. All were amazing, but the Suppli and meatballs were absolute standouts — rich, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Then came the mains: the Pizza Mantovanna (incredible crispy crust), bolognese (our daughter devoured it!), and Porchetta (so flavorful and well-balanced). Every dish was clearly made with care and creativity. We finished with a custard dessert that was out of this world. Light, silky, and the perfect ending to a perfect meal. Decore is ideal for celebrating a special occasion or just enjoying a top-tier meal. We’re from Boston and would be regulars if we lived in San Diego. Can’t wait to come back!

Having dinner at Decore was a delightful experience from start to finish.The warm, inviting ambiance, the knowledgeable and attentive Giovanni and Giorgio made our dinner even more enjoyable. Highly recommend 👌👌👌

Wonderful addition to the neighborhood. Roma Italian dishes without having to catch a flight across the Atlantic. The beef tartare was amazingly delicious and the brussel sprouts were devine. As for the pasta dishes, we opted for the Mushroom truffle ravioli which was our favorite and is a must order! The oxtail strozzapreti melted in your mouth and I had to resist from scraping the plate. I brought my own bottle of wine and was charged a corkage fee of $25 which I find very reasonable. Thanks again for a wonderful dining experience and looking forward to coming back to try everything else on the menu!

By chance, I walked into Decore’s restaurant today, unaware it was their grand opening. This place is run by owners from Italy, and they served what may be the finest Italian cuisine I’ve ever had. I had the Caserecce all’ Oxtail and Broccolini Saltati as a side dish. Everything was phenomenal!

So happy to have this new Italian spot in the neighborhood! From the moment we walked in, we felt genuinely welcomed. The person who took care of us was incredible: attentive, friendly, and truly passionate about the menu without ever feeling over the top. He explained the specials, made great recommendations, and checked in just the right amount. We ordered the fettuccine with Bolognese (perfectly cooked and flavorful), the summer salad with arugula, watermelon, feta, and roasted almonds (super fresh and perfectly dressed), and a side of broccolini, all cooked to perfection. My dad had the lasagna special and said it was delicious. We finished with their tiramisu, which honestly blew us away! creamy, balanced, and so fresh. The Montepulciano we ordered paired beautifully with everything. The place itself has a cozy, local vibe and I really hope it becomes a neighborhood staple. Can’t wait to come back!😍

This was our first time coming, and this is going to be our new Italian spot. We ordered the suppli, calamari, pane & burri, lasagne, and rigatoni allá Boscaiola, and we they bring focaccia on the house. Everything tasted high end and homey at the same time. My favorites were the focaccia, suppli, and rigatoni. Big portions, but still elegant. Delicious.

Five stars all around! Warm, inviting atmosphere, authentic Italian, the wine and service was exceptional too. Gio & Jojo, the owners, are so friendly and funny. Enjoyed the Rigatoni, broccolini pizza, eggplant focaccia and such great conversation. Went for a good friends bday dinner, and it was lovely. Will definitely be back. Thank you so much Gio & Jojo!

I went to Decore with a group of friends during opening week, and I was relieved to find out that finally there’s now a proper italian establishment in East Village. From pre/post game bites, to romantic, or corporate dinners, Decore got you covered. The ambience is upscale without being overly fancy, and the menu has literally something for everyone. I had the most roman dishes (supplì, oxtail pasta, pollo cacciatora style) and they were amazing. I also got to try some other dishes my friends got and everything was really good. Make sure to add Decore to your restaurant shortlist when in downtown area, and you won’t be disappointed!

This place is INSANELY amazing and it's like being transported to Italy. It's fantastic and delicious and Giovanni & Giorgio work so hard to make it special and awesome on the daily and it shows. We've tried many pastas and of course the croquettes, meatballs and their focaccia is some of the best I've ever had and that's coming from someone that cooks for a living and lived in NYC and has been to Italy oodles of times. The bad news it's so close to my house that I have to go a couple times a week - HA. So happy they are here and give it a try and find your favorites on the menu. Thank you guys. Great work. :)

My girlfriend and I have made it a point to try all of San Diego’s best Italian restaurants, and very very few have fresh pasta that rivals that of Decore. My favorites were the Oxtail Pasta and the lasagna they had on special; you really can’t go wrong ordering any of their pastas though! We got four different pasta entrees and they were all stellar. The tiramisu was also a standout. Definitely give this newcomer a shot, I promise you won’t be disappointed!

Literally feels like I’m eating in Italy again. The vibe and aesthetic is so cool. Perfect for date night, girls night out, or night out with friends. Beef tartare was my fave appetizer. We tried the oxtail pasta, truffle ravioli, and boscaiolo pasta, all were amazing. The pizza with the guanciale and butternut squash was so unique, really good blend of savory and sweet. We loved the white Merlot which most of my group has never tried before. 10/10 recommend

I had the pleasure of visiting Decore and OMG - it was the first of what will be many! The pastas were out of this world between the oxtail, and the sausage, and mushroom ravioli, it would be impossible to choose my favorite. The interior is gorgeous a perfect place for a date or a girls night. Appetizer favorite was definitely the tartare and the drinks and hospitality are ON POINT. Already plotting my next trip back!

I just had one of the best meals of my life tonight at Decore! I am not exaggerating when I say I almost cried when I took my first bite of their signature dish - it was absolutely incredible! I am now eating dessert (kindly gifted to me, even though I’m incredibly full of pasta), which is also a once in a lifetime experience! I’ve never had such great tiramisu! Come here!!!

We came here with my boyfriend absolutely starving, and were instantly greeted by the sweetest lady who kindly showed us to our table. She took care of us the whole time — super attentive and warm, and the food came out surprisingly fast! We ordered the fettuccine pasta and lasagna — both were delicious. Seriously, 10/10. It’s one of the very few places in the U.S. where I left feeling satisfied and not sick after. That alone says a lot! Highly recommend if you’re looking for a cozy spot with great food and genuinely kind service. Will definitely be coming back. 💛

We stopped in for happy hour, and were delighted with Giovanni ( he really is from Italy) and the very authentic and delicious food. Great prices, excellent quality! Hope to stop in for dinner sometime soon.

I had the filetto for dinner and it was absolutely amazing. The flavor was incredible, and the staff were super friendly, attentive, and very helpful. The restaurant has a great atmosphere—perfect for a date night, dinner with friends, or even a solo meal. Overall, a fantastic experience!

This place is an absolute MUST! I can’t emphasize enough how delicious the food was. If you love Italian cuisine, this will take you to another level. From the appetizers to the wine, entrées, and dessert—everything was incredible and had my mouth watering. I will definitely be coming back!

A serious 11/10 restaurant experience. The servers were excellent, the food came out so fast, and since it was my birthday they gave me an extra dessert with a birthday song. All the food was in great portions for the price, and the dessert was 11/10 as well. We got the top three pastas on the menu, and the tiramisu and the basque cheesecake. Thank you for making my birthday so special!

I can’t rave enough about this restaurant. Such a hidden gem in east village. This is my second time eating at Decore and the food and staff were phenomenal! We had the burrata to start, then oxtail pasta, then the butternut squash/goat cheese/honey/arugula/ etc pizza. All were a 12/10. My boyfriend and I will be back!! Also to mention is that the staff makes you feel at home and will tailor your drinks and food to your liking to ensure you’re satisfied.

When we first arrived for our 6 PM reservation, I was slightly taken aback when the host reminded us that our reservation was for a maximum of 90 minutes, and we were the only people there. But once we sat down and started receiving our amazing food, the restaurant filled up, and I can see why. The dishes are exceptional, nicely presented, and interesting. Service was spot on. We’ll definitely be back.

I came here with my boyfriend and we have discovered the best Italian food here! The restaurant serves the most authentic Italian food that opened our eyes, and everything we have tried is absolutely amazing! It was my first time having tartare and I was blown away. Same for the tiramisu - it was so delicious! The service is incredible as well. Our server was very attentive, nice and professional. We found this place while we were on a trip in San Diego, but we will definitely come back every time we visit San Diego in the future!

Such an amazing intimate Italian restaurant experience kind of off the beaten path in East Village. The complimentary rolls/bread were a great starter, the pizza was delicious and filling and my friends ravioli tasted so good! Friendly, attentive service as well. Highly recommend when in downtown San Diego!

Fantastic dinner spot near the gaslamp district. Went in a group of 5 and they were able to accommodate us quickly. Service was great, checked on us frequently and food came out quick. Espresso martinis were prepared perfectly. The food had great portion sizes and tasted amazing. Shared some calamari and meatballs which were very well prepared. Rigatoni pasta that I got was tender and flavorful. I think everyone in my group left feeling content with the choice and impressed by the service and food. Would recommend!

On a business trip and this was near my hotel…so glad I stopped in. The food, the charm, the service was fantastic. I had dinner at the bar and was greeted by such a friendly staff. The food was outstanding. I wish I was staying longer as I would be back.

Pretty good, the saffron risotto was a hit. Fish was perfectly cooked. Pizza was good but the crust was a bit overdone. Service is great, decoration and vibe is nice too.

Just tried Decore in East Village and it was amazing! The atmosphere felt really warm and homey, and the service was top-notch. The food was absolutely amazing. I’m so excited to have a new Italian restaurant open up so close to where I live in Downtown San Diego. First off—the staff and food were AMAZING. You can really tell they care about the experience, and the flavors were on point. Usually, you have to head over to Little Italy for solid Italian food, so it’s great to finally have something this good on this side of town. I also wanted to leave this review to show some support to a new local business—but it looks like I’m not the only one! They’ve already racked up a bunch of well-deserved positive reviews. One small thing I hope the staff sees: I honestly didn’t know the place was open for the longest time. The green rope out front kind of makes it look like it’s closed, and I didn't realize the actual entrance is off to the right. A few of my friends who live nearby said the same thing. I think part of the confusion is that the previous restaurant in that spot had the entrance where the rope is now. Highly recommend trying any of the Pastas Super excited to have this spot in the neighborhood—I'll definitely be back often!

Excellent food and decor and service from owner, Georgio. All pastas are homemade (I got the rigatoni with sausage and mushroom in pink sauce), filet was perfectly cooked with great sides, calamari lightly breaded and tender, and tiramasu was delicious, too. Reasonably priced. Definitely give them a try!

I’m so happyI discovered this beautiful little gem !!! So many things to say..! Let’s start with the food: my wild mushroom raviolis w/ cream and truffle oil were to die for! (They make their pasta in-house). The Italian Pinot Grigio recommended by our charming serving server was a perfect pairing for the dish. My girlfriend’s braised meat rigatoni were outstanding too. So as the canolis and salads. Then, SERVICE. The joyful, generous, welcoming and knowledgeable service we got from Giovanni was truly amazing. His passion was a delight. (We learned he’s also one of the owners! Even more refreshing!) Furthermore, this quite small restaurant had this « cozy » yet elegant vibe. The kind of place that feels like home in a way. Like « your » neighborhood spot :) Can’t wait to go back :) Will definitely go back.

A Gem in San Diego’s East Village Tucked into the heart of East Village, DECORE is a true culinary standout, owned and lovingly run by the dynamic duo Gio & Gio. From the moment we walked in, the warmth and friendliness of the staff made us feel right at home—this place has soul. The name says it all "DECORE" In Roman dialect, "from the heart," symbolizing deep commitment and passion, particularly in the context of food, art, and personal connections. We kicked things off with Brussels Sprouts al Pecorino and Calamari—both starters were perfectly executed. The sprouts were crispy with just the right amount of sharp pecorino, while the calamari was light, tender, and fresh. For mains, we tried the Pizza Salamino, Ravioli Tartufo e Funghi, and the Bolognese. Each dish was rich with flavor and felt authentically Italian. The pizza had a beautiful crust with just the right balance of spice and savory. The ravioli was earthy and decadent with the truffle and mushrooms, and the Bolognese was comforting and bold—a standout. We finished with a classic cannoli and a glass of their house-specialty sweet vermouth, which was the perfect end to an already amazing meal. It’s rare to find a restaurant that nails every course, but DECORE delivers across the board. Friendly service, incredible food, and a cozy atmosphere—a 10 out of 10. Wow! It’s been awhile since I’ve been so impressed by a restaurant in San Diego. The quality of the food is astronomical. Every bite put me directly back to my trips in Italy. If you have no plans for the evening I would full heartedly recommend trying here. I see this place going far in the near future.

This is a truly honest review of this cafe from a decorated 62 year old Desert Storm Veteran. I have only tasted Calamari once in my life: I was waiting in Rome across from The Vatican for a tour before continuing on to my first duty assignment in The United States Navy in the early months of 1982 at La Maddalena, Sardenia *Note: Pronounced La-Mad-da- len-a, Sar-den-ya). This seafood dish is the closest to that Italian experience. The espresso is fantastic also!

The food, wine, and drinks were all superb and everyone in my group loved their meals. Truly the best fried brussel sprouts I have ever had, wonderful flavor mix. The staff were also very attentive and accommodating for our larger group that included some people who arrived a bit later. Highly recommend!

The bartenders, waiters, and owner here exemplify a wonderful and elegant Italian service experience in a small and attentive restaurant setting. The staff is from Italy and it is obvious the elegance of their service from the moment you walk in, similar to that I have experienced at the best of restaurants during my time in Rome and Milan in recent years. After speaking with Chef Giorgio about accommodating my wife's garlic sensitivities, along with our Italian friend Chiara, we dined for the first time at Decore last night. She had told us that Decore was not only the most authentic Italian food she has found in San Diego, but the best. It was a truly wonderful dining experience, made all the better when on the wine list I saw an extremely rare Piedmont varietal wine, Ruche. On a trip to Italy in 2021, we had been gifted a bottle of Ruche in Genova by a fellow who made it himself. We finally drank it this year and found it intense, wonderful and different from any other reds we have tried. So seeing it on their menu was truly exciting. Even more exciting was the tasting - absolutely incredible! Do yourself a favor and try Ruche here; you will find it in very few other places in the whole country. The food was every bit as great as described, as was the service. Many thanks to Decore and their whole staff for a truly memorable meal. The food, wine, service, and atmosphere were all above their high value pricing. We will return!

Best restaurant I ate at during my stay in San Diego! Excellent Italian cuisine, along with a carefully selected wine and cocktail menu. My girlfriend and I started with some wine, paired with a portion of Panzanella and Burrata. We continued with delicious Casarecce all'Oxtail and Lasagna (the latter was off the menu). I think they should put it on the menu because it was so tasty. I hope you get a chance to try it! The restaurant was very well-kept and the staff was very friendly. Special mention to Giorgio, who entertained us and gave us advice throughout the evening. I will definitely be back!

We had a perfect experience for Christmas dinner, and plan to make Decore our yearly tradition (with many visits in between)! Decore came highly recommended to us by a colleague and we can absolutely see why. Absolutely amazing spot for Italian food in San Diego!! The pasta was amazing, obviously very fresh and came out quickly. The service was even better, we walked in without a reservation for dinner and were seated immediately and our server was extremely friendly and attentive! Great atmosphere inside the restaurant, will definitely be coming back and I strongly recommend.

This was honestly one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had in San Diego. First red flag: we literally watched a waitress wipe a dirty knife off on the table before plating it for someone. Our water tasted off, almost moldy. The food was even worse. We ordered a fried rice dish that tasted like cold dish soap (almost as if it was cross contaminated) with each bite somehow worse than the last. My cacio e pepe was basically a bowl of flour with pasta thrown in, chalky, gummy, and completely inedible. Both mains were low quality, poorly made, and it was obvious the restaurant cuts every possible corner. We left feeling sick, and not a single table around us finished the food on their plates. Take a look at all the five star reviews, the photos are shot in the same styling and all touch on the same points. Save your money, your stomach, and your night and go literally anywhere else.

I don't usually like to leave reviews where I don't eat but I was very disappointed with the service of this establishment. We were in town, and walked several blocks, to get to this restaurant because of the good reviews. However, as soon as we arrived, we were met with a rude host that said there was no room to dine inside despite the restaurant being completely empty. He suggested we eat outside. I think it's because we had our toddler with us. I mean, as soon as we walked towards the door, he walked over to block our entrance. Unfortunate.
