Opiniones de Modi San Francisco
I can’t wait to go again! Stopped by on a whim after checking out Let’s Glow at the Ferry Building. Looked up “food near me” and the menu was so unique, how could I pass it up! We shared the ceviche, nopal and CDMX pizza, so unique and delicious! There was a huge party (20+ people) going on but it did not deter our server, Nico F who was very attentive and made sure our drinks and food came out very fast. Ceviche was sooo good and I loved the pizza, tasted like a savory churro. Big portions too!
I ordered the lasagna, and it was extraordinary—perfectly layered pasta, rich sauce, and a creamy finish that melted in my mouth. The subtle Mexican twist added a unique kick without overpowering the classic Italian flavor. The staff were warm, attentive, and made the whole evening feel special. Modi Ristorante truly delivers excellence in both food and service. They’re a dog-friendly establishment, too.
Absolutely amazing service, and the steak I had was amazing as well. Super tender and filled with flavor. Our server (I forget his name) was top notch and probably one of the best servers I’ve ever had. Attention to detail, proper, kind. This place was great! Will be back!
All around a fantastic experience! From the warm welcome we received to the genuine and attentive service, the team was all on point creating a warm vibe of hospitality. The food was truly a Mexican-Italian hybrid menu and I really loved the shared plate options. They also had plenty of vegetarian and fish options which really struck a chord. Located on ground floor of the Transit Center it’s close to lots of businesses and of course a stones throw from 2nd Street.
The food here is very good, however the staff are what resulted in my leaving a review. Every one we interacted with were lovely, from the person who seated us, to the two waiters who took orders and brought food, as well as those who supported with other tasks including refilling water, clearing the table, etc. Everyone was friendly and personable, and the service was great. It is a restaurant, so of course the food matters, but good food is not too hard to find in SF and so the staff are what really made this place stand out.
We stumbled across Modi while plotting out a staycation dinner spot, and honestly — an Italian + Mexican fusion restaurant? Say less. Bonus points for having a TV at the bar so we could watch the Giants game while enjoying our amazing meal! Vibes: Host was super welcoming and walked us to the bar side (the only ones there at first). Jiro, the bartender/mixologist/absolute legend, flipped the channel to the game for us without hesitation. Already off to a strong start. Drinks (all expertly mixed by Jiro): • Dulce Vita ($18) – Mezcal + passion fruit + Aperol = smoky, tangy, tropical greatness. Glad I trusted his recommendation on this one! • Sueño De Amalfi ($18) – Limoncello + vodka + basil. Light, refreshing, and basically European summer in a glass. • Aperol Spritz ($16) – A vacation classic done exactly right. A great last drink! They’ve also got wine, beer, mocktails, sodas (including Mexican Coke/Sprite), Italian sodas, and more, so no one’s left out. Food (aka why we came): • Chips & Salsa – Complimentary and colorful. Salsa verde was fresh and bright. • Fresh Oysters (6 for $24 / 12 for $45) – Local oysters topped with mezcal mignonette + watermelon granita = genius. Jiro even gave us a side mezcal shot to pair with it (bar perks, baby). • Trompitos Al Pastor ($17) – Pork skewers with pineapple sauce. Delicious, but would’ve loved the pineapple layered throughout instead of just on the bottom. • Lobster Tacos ($32) – Pricey, yes. Skimpy? Nope. Tons of lobster chunks with creamy avocado + lime crema to tie it all together. • Birria Lasagna ($28) – The undisputed star. Crispy edges, tender beef, layers of cheese + béchamel. It’s everything I never knew I needed in life. If you don’t order this, why bother going. Dessert: • Churro Tiramisù ($14) – Churros instead of ladyfingers, mascarpone cream, espresso magic. Warm + cold contrast, great presentation, ridiculously good flavor. Would get it again in a heartbeat. Overall: Modi was a hit. Friendly staff, excellent food, fun vibe. Jiro deserves a medal for being attentive, helpful, and just plain awesome. The night ended with surprise celebratory shots courtesy of the owner, who happened to sit next to us at the bar. We’ll definitely be back — that Birria Lasagna is already calling my name, along with a few other dishes we didn’t get to try this round! @bbnem.eats
The cocktails were fantastic but the arancini was really the star of the whole meal which is why I didn’t get a picture. For entrees my husband ordered the birria lasagna and I ordered the corn ravioli. Both were excellent! Our server was very kind and suggested food and drinks. Additionally, he helped us switch tables when a family of small children playing on phones without headphones were seated near us. Overall a beautiful restaurant with excellent service in a lovely location.
The food was incredible. I didn't think that Italian and Mexican fusion would work but the birria lasagna proved me wrong. We also had the scallop and funghi tacos. Service was especially warm and attentive. And the aesthetic is such a vibe.
Full disclosure: I've been coming here since first opening. Hint: get the bone marrow risotto or chorizo and clams w squid ink spaghetti. Or anything else on the menu. Amazing menu!
Came here for a quick lunch with a friend, it definitely has a vibrant atmosphere with a modern decor. The standout dish is the juicy burger that came with very crispy fries. Overall, Modi delivers a welcoming environment and pretty good food for a quick bite during lunch hours.
Surprisingly wonderful. The pizza is absolutely delicious. We ordered a dish that wasn't on the menu, pasta with pink sauce that was beautiful. The kids loved the fries and the beria lasagna was the best.
We got the Aztec salad, tuna tostadas and shrimp tacos. All delicious. They made my daughter a Mickey Mouse cheese pizza! The service was great, and they have amazing heaters!
If you’ve never been, it will be one of your new favorite restaurants. They are insane about their service and they are good about the details. The food was amazing and drinks are not pricey (although the lemon drop was on the weaker side). We tried almost everything and fell in love with this wonderfully constructed menu of fusion between Mexican and Italian food. Must try!
Everything was absolutely delicious! I loved the unique fusion of Italian and Mexican flavors — such a creative and tasty combination. From the bold spices to the comforting pasta, every dish was packed with flavor and clearly made with care. The ambiance was warm and inviting, and the service was extremely friendly and attentive. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Great choices! TheFungi Ravioli and pizza were absolutely delicious. The cozy ambiance made the place so inviting and warm.
Swanky, fun, and cozy all at once! This place reminds me of the beautiful, vibrant energy of a modern lounge with a hint of vintage charm. The atmosphere is both stylish and inviting, making it perfect for a night out with friends or a cozy date. The decor is thoughtfully curated, blending bold colors and textures to create a truly unique experience. The dishes were very flavorful. Definitely a spot that leaves an impression!

My husband and I ate here tonight after finding it on Resy and we left delighted by both the food and the service. The atmosphere was lovely—we sat outside and even though it was a cold night, it was plenty warm in the covered, outdoor seating area. The focaccia and cauliflower appetizers were delicious and I would absolutely order them again. I also enjoyed the ravioli—the sage butter sauce was delicious and made me wish that I had saved the focaccia to finish it off. My husband had, and enjoyed the margherita pizza. We finished our meal with the tiramisu churros, which, while good, was my least favorite part of the meal. The cream part of the dessert was delicious, but the churros were just okay and, personally, I would have preferred them with some chocolate. The staff was wonderful and one of the servers in particular was absolutely delightful. He exuded joy and his smile made you want to smile too. On our way out, we saw someone who appeared to be a manager walking a mom and daughter to a nearby restroom because, I presume, the daughter couldn’t wait in line to use the bathroom—above and beyond service and overall I would highly recommend this restaurant.
I have to start by saying I was sceptical about an Italian-Mexican fusion because we are Italian, and are picky about "real" Italian food (vs spagetti & meatballs). But, I am also a Mexican food lover, so it was fun to venture into this new experience. Let me start by saying the ambiance and service at Modi is top notch. The location feels festive, and the staff were all extremely friendly, seemed to be having fun, and were very attentive to us. They also made some great recommendations. We couldn't try everything, but highlights were : Arancini Alla Mexicana and Foccaccia starters, Birria lasagna and Milanese Risotto, and the Tiramisu Churros were sublime. We also enjoyed the Cauliflower al Pastor, but I don't love tomatoe and pineapple together, so it was not "top" for me. There were a lot of other items on the menu that I wanted to try, so we will be back for round #2. Special thanks to the gentilissimi ragazzi from Amalfi who brought my sister the butterscotch ice-cream dessert with a candle and sang her Happy Birthday!
Vegetarian Pizza: Even for the dedicated carnivores, this pizza is a revelation. The crust has that perfect leopard-spotted char, providing a crisp foundation for toppings that are incredibly fresh and layered with flavor. It’s easily one of the best veggie pies in the city. The Lasagna (Non-Vegetarian): This was the star of the show for my daughter. Despite not being a vegetarian, she is a discerning critic when it comes to pasta—and she absolutely loved it. It’s rich, savory, and structured perfectly; a must-order for anyone craving a hearty, authentic bite. The Churros: You cannot leave without ordering these. They are light, airy, and served with a level of finesse that elevates them from a street-food classic to a high-end dessert. The Verdict: Modi isn’t just "good for fusion"—it’s a premier dining destination. Whether you’re here for a family dinner or a sophisticated night out, the atmosphere and the kitchen’s execution are flawless.

Had Cauliflower AL Pastor, Ravioli elote funghi selvatici, Spaghetti chorizo, and Zesty sip for the mock tail. Zesty sip is refreshing. We can customize the items to cater to vegetarians.

We had an enjoyable lunch here. All the dishes were fine. I really enjoyed my lasagna. Pizza was nice to split between two people.
Modi is a fresh type of fusion! Our experience was decent. Food was delicious, presented in an appealing manner. A very fun spin on Mexican and Italian. Service is where we were let down. Mostly errors in follow up and follow through (drinks not delivered). Part of the issue could be noise. The hard surfaces throughout make the acoustics hard for conversation. Would recommend for a boisterous party, not for intimate conversation.
Came from a work dinner. Focaccia was great but everyone’s main dish was just eh- we had 2 different pizzas, the branzino, chicken and lasagna. Consensus of the night was that Italian and Mexican belong separate. Service was fine but not great. It was interesting to try but we wouldn’t go back.
We went here last night for the prix fixe Valentine’s dinner menu and had a bad experience. We ordered a bottle of red wine to drink with our entrees and placed our food order. It took about half an hour to get our Caesar salad, which was missing ingredients. The appetizers didn’t arrive until over an hour into dinner and by that time we had already finished the bottle of wine. The bavette was good, but the ravioli elote was chewy and undercooked. They brought the dessert 3 hours into dinner. My husband’s churros were hard and discolored like they had been sitting out for a long time and the tiramisu had melted and hardened into a bed of dry whipped cream on the plate. They brought me the wrong dessert, which I had a known allergy to. But by that point my husband and I were feeling defeated and didn’t want to complain, so we just skipped dessert. Our waiter told us that several people didn’t show up for work and the kitchen was severely underwater. I felt really bad for the waiters. They were working really hard to try to keep things moving. Just a bad experience overall. We’re definitely not going back.
