I ordered a pepperoni and sausage stromboli (WITHOUT cheese). It was awesome! It was a bit soggy on the bottom but I think that is because it was on foil. They really put a lot of meat. Really sweet people here!
Best pizza in Niskayuna, hands down. And the staff is amazing! Sad I didn't know about this gem sooner.
The food tastes amazing the staff was very friendly and nice fast service
Great place to eat and drink...always great service..highly recommended. Downside... its hard to find parking place get in early.
Their Sicilian pizza is our family favorite. Great local town restaurant.
I had the veal cutlet and it was the best that I have had in a long time ashley was our sever and she was very good
So good. Restaurant is kind of small so there is not much space in time where you can come in and sit down but great place for takeout, food was delicious. Best wings I've had in a while
The food in general is good and their chicken wings are the best, they have an awesome flavor even without any sauce. The antipasto is also great and big enough to share.
The food and service were great. I recommend including descriptions of the items on the menu. I had to keep looking up Italian dishes on my phone.
Good pizza and dinners. Favorite spot for easy weeknight dinner with our 4 year old. We go there at least once a month.
Love this food! Pizza is VERY tasty. Wait time can stink sometimes but it is worth it! Atmosphere is nice.
We love the pizza there. The Penne w/ sausage and broccoli is to die for. My wife loves it there for their "Generous wine pours"
very accommodating for kids/ families, kind pleasant waitress and atmosphere. Quite busy, long wait, worth it with good company, wine, no place to go..
Mario's has the BEST wings hands down. I get the wings and board pizza once a week! WE LOVE it here! 10/10! Thank you!!
Always a warm & welcoming atmosphere with a good selection of comfort foods. Great pizza & delicious homemade rolls!
Delicious we have never had a bad meal there. We have been customers for years. We had angel hair past and meatballs.
Excellent chicken Francaise and Marsala. Service is outstanding! The acoustics make it difficult to have a conversation however.
Incredible sandwiches. The 10 of us all enjoyed our various lunch sandwiches. The bread and meat was incredible. Yummy!
Sat at Bar ordered pizza which was very good. Great service friendly staff.
We’re here visiting family from Florida. This restaurant is absolutely wonderful. Great Staff. Love Courtney!!!!! Wonderful food.
The food is good. Friendly wait staff. Decent beer selection, taps are rotated frequently.
This is a great little neighborhood pizza place fair price is good food plenty of space good bar wait staff makes you feel like I'm over with the family excellent Love it ❤️
We LOVE Mario's! The pizza is delicious! Everyone us friendly and they have some awesome specials.
We had their Pizza. Everything was great!
Great food (especially the pizza of course)! Rebuilt within the last year or so, and the new place looks nice.
Mario's pizza is great and the wings are good too. They staff is friendly and helpful and the restaurant is always clean.
Have family that live 5 min away, i visit ever y summer for 4 weeks i go at least twice a week. Best pizza outside of the city!!
I loved Mario's before it was remodeled, and now it's even better. The pizza is great and the beer selection is just fine.
Great little place. Went there tonight for the first time and their pizza is great! I'm from Brooklyn, trust that I KNOW my pizza! Some of the best in the area, was pleasantly surprised. Enjoy! Place looks like a house and there's no sign out by the road, so don't miss it!
Went with my family!, Have not been here in almost two years. The food was outstanding (as it always is) and hot when served. Thank you Kristie for c o ming in tonight. Seeing your smiling face and your glowing personality made it so.much better. 😀💖
Haven't been there in awhile, I have just been busy. Great remodel, food as great as always. We had the clams, soup, meatballs, personalized pizza and one of the best lasagnas I have ever had. Highly recommended.
The food here is delicious. The owner just likes to take care of people and make them happy, and it shows in their food. Recent updates to the restaurant make parking and seating a little easier, but it's so popular (because it's so good) that there is still sometimes a wait. Love the specials!
Awesome pizza, crispy but not too crispy, generous amount of toppings, and best of all, it's very reasonably priced. Definitely ordering from here again!!
Good food and great people. Only downside is you have to order early on a Friday to make sure you can get dinner. Seems like the phone is taken off the hook after 6:00 because I get a busy signal when I call then. That just supports that the food is good.
I really liked this place. It was very quiet at lunch but you can tell it's popular for drinks and dinner. Service was great and I had a good salad. Way better than typical bar food.
I went there with my son's and we got pizza, boneless wings, and garlic bread. Everything was phenomenal. As the orders came we kept saying to each other oh this is so good. I'm taking my wife there this weekend.
My go to Italian place. Mario's has been a long time favorite and the food is always delicious. Very friendly staff who treat you like family. I love the chicken Francaise, their pizza is delicious too.
This is probably my favorite pizza that side of the capital region. The staff is amazing and they always help me out with my large orders for lunches! The Sicilian pizza is yummy. Eat it hot!
Always consistently good, fresh ingredients and good pizza. Consider take out if you’re not feeling the noise or chatter. Lucky to have them in the neighborhood!
Truly great neighborhood restaurant. The food is outstanding, the staff is friendly, and the wine pours are generous! One of my absolute favorite places. Try their "Sicilian" style pizza!
Waitress was very good .
Excellent service and a warm atmosphere. Highly recommend!
Pricey Italian establishment with authentic tasting red sauce. Husbands NYStrip steak was so tender he cut it with a fork! Very hot bread which was refilled multiple times and very tasty! Ask for more dressing on your salad as it will come out with the bare minimum. All in all, worth the price
So busy but so worth it. The staff is friendly and accommodating even though they’re obviously understaffed. Everything is so reasonably priced and absolutely delicious, we even did a customized dinner plate that combined two different plates and it was better than we could have imagine. 10/10 would recommend to anyone who likes Italian food.
The pizza is pretty good and the wings are also good. The place is clean and modern looking. The service is good, the place is always busy, and it can be difficult finding a parking spot at times. This place has a bar which makes so waiting for a table easy. This place is better than your average pizza shop and a good place to sit down and have dinner.
We have only ever done takeout from here and (I think) we've only ever gotten pizza. But we have had both the round and the Sicilian and we can't bring ourselves to order anything else. Possibly my husband's favorite pizza in the area. Plus all the staff we've interacted with have been friendly, expedient, and helpful.
Our first, but certainly not our last time, dining here. Pizza was incredible, as was the gnocchi with garlic broccoli. Service and atmosphere were great for a first date or a family dinner.
Never had a bad pizza ....Always a 9.5 or a 10 out of 10.... I believe it's the best pizza place in our area Great customer service also
TODAY, 2/15/24 REVIEW - Christy! She's the best server I've ever encountered! So friendlly, warm and welcoming! Just went there again last night, my birthday, with my husband - she takes care of you like you are family as you always get the "family" treatment! Love her, love the food (Haddock Mediterranean, but wings, pizza...everything!). 2023 REVIEW - Hands down one of my favorite places! Chrissy is the BEST server and so friendly and attentive! I always get the Mediterranean Haddock, which is huge!! She has an uncanny memory as when I came in last week, she said "Pinot Grigio?". She wasn't even my server, but ours came out with my Pinot! Love her, love this place and food is great and plentiful!!
What a great experience!! Wish we had pictures... we had calamari for an app. Total yumz. We both ordered eggplant parm. It tasted fresh and delicious...perfect. Kiddo had a heaping bowl of spaghetti and meatballs. She was very happy. For dessert we had pistachio cake, cheesecake and lemon cake. It was all just wonderful. To top it off service was fast and friendly and amazing. Would return in a heartbeat!
Always delicious! Has a cozy & relaxing atmosphere. Never a bad meal. Had pizza today & it was perfect! Perfect amount of cheese, toppings & CRISPY crust. Colleen & Christy are the best servers in the 518 also!
What a hidden gem in the middle of a simple town. Food is delicious and an abundant portion! Definitely heading back again!
We went back to UpState NY recently to visit family. I I met up with a friend that recommended that we go to this restaurant. We live in California now, we have a hard time finding really good chicken wings. My friend and I got a pepperoni pizza and the hot wings. Both were excellent. I am still day dreaming about those wings… The service was great and the food came out quickly. I will make a point to stop in again the next time we come back for a visit.
I love Marios!! Its a neighborhood restaurant bar and the pizza is delicious! I've never had a complete about any of the authentic Italian food. The staff make you feel like family too!
In town from Maryland and this is the best place for a good Italian meal! Excellent chicken parm -serving was huge and the sauce very good!! The pizza was 5 stars. It is packed in there and theres a reason :
This place is the best kept secret of Niskayuna. I've ordered pizzas here multiple times and they have always been incredible. They also have the best chicken wings in the region, hands down! Don't bother going anywhere else! The atmosphere is laid back and kid friendly. Their entrees are great. I've never had a bad meal here.
We recently had a very enjoyable dining experience at Mario’s. Our pizza night began with ample pours of wine and beer, followed with fresh, crisp salads; arugula and a wedge. The sweetness of the arugula’s pears was balanced with spicy cherry peppers. The wedge was topped with hot, crisp bacon. Both were very satisfying. Our pizzas, Anna Margherita and sausage mushroom, were baked to perfection. They had a nice crunch on the dough and savory toppings. Our go with the moment tartufo was served quartered and ended our evening on a memorable note. We will return.
First timer for lunch. Large parking lot. CLEAN inside and out. Really nice looking interior. Sat at the bar. Super friendly staff in a real sense, it was clear she was either an academy award winning actress or a sincere person. The personal pizza was simply amazing. I added pepperoni and it was fresh and delicious unlike some other local places. The crust was crispy and chewy and the cheese was terrific. The sauce was perfect. A truly great pizza. I've only ever had their two day old sicilian pie and that was the best sicilian pizza I've had in many years. I never knew about this place and was told it's been here for twenty years! They lack a sign for folks driving by to see and I missed the place at first. Clearly they spend their money on the quality inside and don't waste it on advertisments. The dinner menu looks GREAT so I will be back to try it. You should too.
Amazing food with great service and perfect for groups but usually very crowded and loud with a long line so maybe not for all. I come every year for my brothers birthday though, I love it!
Really like this place. The service is excellent. The Buffalo Shrimp is one of the best apps in the area. Menu is pretty limited though.
Nice menu and very good food, but I most appreciate the bar. Surprisingly good draft selection and great staff.
Very good pizzeria and basic Italian restaurant. Excellent veal Sorrento, good antipasto, excellent pistachio creme cake.
Great local restaurant! We love their food, but I wish they had an outdoor seating option, especially in this time of COVID. Alas, for now, we will only be doing take out. But if Mario’s was to arrange some outdoor seating (seems like they have plenty of room to put a patio in the back), and especially heated outdoor seating, we would be there!
Downside is takes too long, very popular. But pizza is very good, note it's rectangular not traditional circle. The app veggie pizza is excellent. Casual. Loud, therefore fine for kids
Love the big board pizza, greek salad and fried calamari. Perfect combo for 4 people. The new design sadly invites a larger bar crowd and the noise is terrible.
Marios is great! Pizza is always delicious, wings are crispy, and other dishes are very good. Super accommodating with kids and always busy.
The food here is always stellar. The last time I went, our server was in the middle of an argument with the hostess and let it affect the way she acted toward us. I tried to break the ice and asked her if she needed a beer too because she seemed stressed. She then explained to us how frustrated she was with the hostess. She seemed to lighten up after that and our dining experience became less tense. We ordered a round pepperoni pie and it was delicious, as always.
Great staff and food but its sooo loud in restaurant!
Pizza is the main attraction, and for good reason. Crispy crust, good cheese/topping balance. But online menu (as of 12/29/22) has the WRONG PRICES. Online menu says many main dishes are $12.95, but when we went this week were more like $22.95!!! In this era of easy online updates, especially on their own URL, this is, simply put, false advertising.
It was our first time in a few years and it was delicious! We stuck with the Sicilian pizza (with meatballs) and a salad. The salad had more iceberg-like lettuce then green lettuce which was disappointing. The waitress seemed very rushed. She made it seem like we were taking too long to order. We had a long wait but that's I guess that's expected on a Friday evening. We will definitely go again.
Being a lifetime Prima Pizza customer for 30 years, since I was 14, I wasn't as impressed as I wanted to be. It was very small & crowded feeling as the 2 of us were at a tiny table where the drink, salads, and bread barely fit on & the butcher paper table cloths just move all over the table. Nothing fancy about it. Big bar at door & you have no place to stand to "Wait to be seated". A huge wall divides the big bar right at the door from the small, rather tiny, dining area. Selection was typical, with 1 or 2 additional meals added to try to spruce up the menu. Food was good. Not sure worth the price tag, my chicken was a thin slice of breast for like $17+ & it was the chicken Mediterranean. I liked it, no complaints here, but the stuffed rigatoni barely had any filling for $16+. The ice tea I ordered was undrinkable. Not sure what happened there. I got a piece of someone's hair in my salad! I know it wasn't mine cuz I was in the bathroom & just made sure all my hair was up & back as to not fall in food. When I came out the waitress had brought our salads. My friend would not let me tell anyone about the hair in my salad as to not make a scene & embarrass him. I have known John, etc, for 30 years. I was so hoping for a new great place to eat & was sadly disappointed. With all the hype I keep hearing about it it was a shock. Especially since I was told John never goes to the pizza shop(Prima) anymore cuz he practically lives at the restaurant. John what's going on?
Great place! Little slow on both kitchen and service and a bit over priced for a pasta and sauce restaurant. But altogether a quant little place you should definitely visit at least once. Bar is quite big as well to grab a drink!
Pleasant atmosphere but difficult to hear even across the table. Prices are high for the quality that was served. I had the fettuccine alfredo with shrimp. The shrimp were cooked perfectly but the Alfredo sauce not very good. My husband got the chicken marsala and the sauce was so sweet he couldn't eat the mushrooms or finish the chicken. It was apparently made with a cheap marsala wine or not cooked off properly. It's a cute place but they charge fine dining prices for pub food .
I have eaten dinner at this restaurant many times over the years. It is a very popular place for traditional Italian fare and the only restaurant in this part of town. Service is prompt and attentive. The decor has a vintage-industrial vibe, with big photos relating to Schenectady's historic industrial past. The high ceiling is metal, which can sometimes amplify noise from the dining room. I would go here on a casual date, or with friends and family, but there are probably better options for a quiet, romantic dinner for two. The food. The pasta and pizza are stalwarts done well. I have noticed that families often get pizza for the kids while the adults enjoy the pasta entrees. I have enjoyed the spinach balsamic chicken salad as a light main on many occasions. It's a large salad with plenty of pieces of nicely-cooked chicken breast. The Haddock Mediterranean and the Chicken Milanese were disappointing. The fish and the chicken are both breaded, then sauteed. The breading is meant to keep the fish and moist during cooking, and to provide a crispy texture for each bite. But in both cases my plate was swimming in a watery lemon-butter sauce. The breading was a mush. For me, this drenching ruined my enjoyment. I do not understand why the kitchen would drown these two dishes like this. Doing so ruins the whole point of the breading. Do they do it to try and disguise overcooking? Or is this just "the way it's done here?" These items have been on the menu for years, so diners must like them. I stick to the parms, the Marsala, and the pastas, which are all very tasty and generously portioned.
I've been to Mario's twice. Both times they were extremely slow to bring out food. The service is sub par, and the food is average. Next time I'm avoiding Mario's.
I ordered and picked my food up and they were really nice and friendly, being friendly doesn't make good food...I got a cheese calzone that was awful. The bottom was soggy and mushy, there was water from the very little ricotta and leaked out with the mozzerella cheese and made it even more soggier in some parts to the point where I couldn't eat it. They're super expensive for half assed food. I paid $9 for a crappy calzone. No thanks. I'll go to Nico's, best prices and food around..
$13 for glass of Lambrusco is too much (it's not an expensive wine). won't split checks even if you ask in advance, which is inconvenient for customers when you dine with friends or another couple. waitress didn't write anything down when we ordered our drinks and had to come back to our table twice. I really don't see an issue with taking one couple's order on a order pad and flipping to another sheet for the other couple's order. It's really not that hard
Ironically, I was in need of some pizza today and my usual spot is closed (Marinos). So I decided to take a chance based on Google reviews and oh boy. Usually they're not wrong but this place is definitely overrated when it comes to pizza. I got the 12cut Peperoni and onion. It was more like pizza bred. Similar to chucky cheese pizza with a fluffier crust . The sauce was too lite, the cheese was scarce and the pepperoni was nothing special and a bit over priced. Granted they do not seem like a genuine pizzareia so perhaps they do other dishes well. The atmosphere was a step above a bar but didn't give me foodie vibes. More like grab a beer after work and have an appetizer. The pizza box was really nice though and the staff was nice. 🙃
My usual pizza joint was so busy this Halloween that I decided to order from Mario's instead. I usually love their Sicilian pizza, so I ordered that along with a large round cheese pie and a small side salad. They came to $50 but everything's expensive now, so whatever. I don't know what has changed since the last time I ordered from here, but I've had better frozen pizzas. For the money, I thought I would at least enjoy my dinner, but the Sicilian was thin and hard and I'm pretty sure the dough was previously frozen. Very disappointed and I will stick with my usual place in the future even though this one is much closer.
Long wait to be seated ,understaffed, very noisy, pizza was substandard with a high price. would not recommend. Enjoy the original restaurant much, much better.
Employes are very lazy.and waiting time long
They forgot the meat on my taco salad and a medium burger was burnt and well done
Sadly, we had a bad experience here. We were not recognized by any staff and after 15 minutes I asked if someone was going to take our drink orders and was told yes. The same server then went to take the order of two tables who arrived after us. I can't comment on the food or drinks as we never made it that far. The staff, although confused looking, were never verbally or otherwise rude, they simply ignored us.
Ordered a Caprese salad . It arrived with 4 slices of unripe tomatoes and some mozzarella . Horrible ! A lot of nerve charging $14 . Called to complain and was told “ that’s how we make it” .
Well. I'll be nice, and give one star Found a HAIR in my pizza and got told it was burnt cheese when clearly it was NOT that. The womens bathroom was dirty. Toilet paper all over the floor. Saw two staff go into the, bathroom and didnt clean it up after either of,them used it. They did take the whole, pizza off our,Bill. But the fact they said it was burnt cheese when it was NOT that at all upset,us. This was our 1st and last time we will get pizza from here or come,to,eat.
Just got my order, opened the bags and instantly regretted wasting my time and money. Just know, whatever you order it'll either be wrong or messed up in some way.
After 10 minutes waiting to be assisted we finally asked if we could be seated. At least 5 wait staff were standing by the bar and none offered assistance. The new building is very noisy and crowded. The tables are so close that the wait staff can barely navigate between the tables and patrons are put in compromising positions to get to the bench seats that are against the far wall. The timing of the food was off. We waited 20 minutes for a iceberg lettuce salad and had just started eating it when our burned crust pizza arrived. The table was so small it barely accommodated the 2 salads, 2 drinks and pizza. Just ridiculous!! The prices are very high, and the quality of the food was poor.
