Everything was delicious. The steak came out perfectly cooked on top of the mushroom. The flavors where well matched with the dipping sauce. The blackened salmon also was perfect paired with the sauce veggies and potatoes. My wife liked the prickly pear margarita drink. I forget the name of the drink I got but it was more tangy, it was fine not much flavor probably would of got something else next time. It was all very tasty in the end and we enjoyed our time.
My wife and I had a really enjoyable meal at Rascal Modern American Diner in Sedona. I ordered the meatloaf, and my wife went with the bento box. Both dishes were delicious and packed with flavor – the kind of satisfying, well-prepared comfort food you hope for at an upscale diner. The prices were reasonable and in line with other restaurants in the Sedona area, so no complaints there. The only minor issue was that service was a bit slow, but to be fair, the restaurant was quite busy when we visited. The staff seemed to be doing their best to keep up with the demand. Overall, it was a positive experience with food quality that definitely stood out. We’ll be back next time we’re in town and would recommend Rascal to anyone looking for a solid American meal in Sedona.
First time dinning at Rascal’s. A 5 star experience all around! Came here for a birthday dinner celebration…liked it so much, came back for breakfast the next day. Our servers Kimberly and Jeffrey were fabulous. Extremely attentive and very personable. The food was very well prepared and nice portion sizes to boot. Everything we ordered was fabulous! Probably the best coffee in Sedona. Would highly recommend! Nice outdoor seating area. Next time we are in town, we will be back. Thank you for a great dining experience!
Talk about a dog friendly restaurant! They treated Gypsy like a princess. Fresh water and chicken jerky cookies from their doggy menu. Us humans had the happy hour ahi tuna nachos that was fresh and sharable. Jared made the best espresso martini and a Washington apple martini.
I ordered the Eggs on Toast with scrambled scramble eggs on sourdough toast, crispy bacon and breakfast potatoes. I sat outside on the patio to enjoy the amazing weather. The scrambled eggs were cooked perfectly. Thank you to the waiter and chef for the crispy delicious bacon. I think this is the first time the restaurant added grilled red bell peppers and grilled onions to the breakfast potatoes. That really elevated the potatoes. This is a very hearty meal. The meal was delicious and I would order it again. Great outside patio. Jeffrey was my waiter and he was friendly and polite. Great experience!
My husband and I ate here 7 times in 3.5 days because we loved it the first time we came! We had every type of meal here, and everything was superb. Even the music was the perfect volume and not too loud. Everything was presented and prepared well. The blueberry cobbler is out of this world. Lemon ricotta pancakes are amazing. Shrimp and grits was fresh and flavorful. Parking is generally ample. Staff is a great team. We forgot to purchase the chef’s cookbook on the way out and are disappointed about that. :( We wish this place was where we live.
Excellent food. The burger melts in your mouth. I highly recommend getting it with the caramelized onions. I also really enjoyed the bourbon flight that they offered, and their fries are these crispy cajun potato wedges which are some of the best potato wedges I've ever had.
Highly recommend Rascal Modern ... greeted with friendly staff, waitress was amazingly friendly and professional with super knowledge on all dishes. Appetizers and dinners were fresh and super tasty. Pretty healthy portions. Desserts are a great way to top off your experience. This place was way over my expectations and I highly recommend.
Amazing food. Wow. My fiance said the shrimp and grits were outta this world, and my vegan bento box was stellar!! I had so many items!!! Vegan tomato soup, delicious hummus and chips, quinoa, so many veggies, a gorgeous pecan and berry salad, and more! Wow!!!! Highly recommended!!
We sat outside because we had our dog with us. My husband got the Wagyu burger, and I had the grilled cheese and tomato soup. Our German Shepherd *loved* the Venison stew..”woofing” it down in a minute. Most everything is made in house (including the mixers in the Margarita!) It wasn’t cheap =$87 for the three of us (one beer, one margarita.)
Came in for dinner last night and was so impressed we came back for breakfast before hitting the road back home. This place is a must come to. Price is amazing for the amount of food, cocktails are perfect and the servers and just 10/10.
Whether Breakfast or Dinner, Rascal offers a tremendous amount of delicious options. When I ate here alone a couple of weeks ago, I had to wait 7 minutes to be greeted but once I established the order with the waitress, everything worked out fine. On the quality of their cuisine alone, Rascal is a top 10 in Sedona.
We frequented the Rascal several times while we stayed at the Wilde Resort & Spa. The food and drinks were fabulous! We kept going back because we wanted to try more items on the menu. The ahi tuna nachos are wonderful. I had the shrimp and grits and it was delicious. We also had the filet which was perfection. My friends shared the vegan bento box and they loved it. The staff was wonderful and welcoming. Highly recommend!
Jared deserves 10 stars. He eagerly greeted our last minute large party and went above and beyond the entire time. Took group pics 2x. Got everyone’s orders immediately upon their readiness. Anticipating needs and accommodating all the individual requests. Great demeanor and took great care of us. Mackenzie had his back and supported as well. Food was delish and service was phenomenal. Thank you Jared!
We had breakfast at Rascal, located inside the Wild Hotel, and it was absolutely fantastic! The entire menu looked tempting, but I went with the traditional eggs benedict—which turned out to be anything but traditional (in the best way possible). The Canadian bacon was impressively thick—easily a quarter inch—and added a hearty, savory twist to the dish. The hollandaise sauce had just the right amount of tang, making every bite rich and flavorful. My wife ordered the Broken Yolk Sandwich on sourdough with maple bacon, avocado, and tomato. It was massive and packed with flavor—so much so that she ended up splitting it with me. We also asked for the potatoes well done, and they came out perfectly crispy. Great service, beautiful setting, and unforgettable breakfast. Highly recommend Rascal if you’re staying at the The Wilde Resort and Spa or just in the area!
Rascal was Awesome Jake from Alaska made our dining experience great. Our 1st time to Sedona & Rascal. Everyone there were very welcoming, polite and friendly 😀. We recommend Rascal to everyone visiting Sedona. Ask for Jake from Alaska not Jake state farm 😊 We also took a cruise to Alaska fell in love with Sitka.
The server was friendly and personable but overall slow. No biggie as we weren’t pressured for time. Great drinks. We split a Caesar Salad to start. Hubby really liked his fish tacos and said they tasted really fresh. My Alaskan king salmon was tasty despite being overcooked. I’d go back again.
We stopped here for dinner on our trip. The place had about 15 minutes of waiting. We had a baby so wanted a table away from the speakers. The hostess was very accommodating and immediately helped us find a better table. The service was also pretty fast considering the place was crowded. I ordered the ribeye steak which was pretty good. My wife got the barbacoa which was equally good and flavorful. Overall a great experience and would definitely come again.
10/2024 back in Sedona & of course we booked a table for this trip. Food and drinks were still amazing. I appreciate the dishes they serve - they have a unique take on dishes we all have had elsewhere & that why we keep dining here when in town. 9/2023 We loved this place. Menu had good variety of items. Their signature drinks were definitely 💯 Staff was on the ball. Depending on the day you may want to get a reservation
What a great place to dine! After too many hikes, I was craving a good steak. The waitress was super nice and chatty—I loved her attention and good vibe, though I sadly didn’t catch her name. I had an Elixir of life - very refreshing cocktail to start with. The food was delicious! I loved the tuna tacos and shishito peppers. Although they’re common appetizers, they had a unique flavor that made them stand out from other restaurants. The tuna nachos had a hint of sugar and cinnamon that added a really nice twist, and the shishitos came with two very delicious sauces. The steak was cooked to perfection, complemented by flavorful side sauces and a perfect mashed potato purée. While the dishes were somewhat familiar, each one had a signature touch that made them distinctive and memorable!
Amazing food and Lily, the server made us feel at home. Large portion sizes. Totally worth the money. Absolutely loved the Hatch Chile soup with Chicken. Penne pasta carbonara and grilled chicken sandwich were equally great.
We stopped here after our 5mi hike and it was exactly what we needed! Our server Brittany was amazing! Our food was delayed a little bit but they comped us with some delish croissants! Must have is the shrimp and grits! But everything was very good. They have outdoor patio seating and great selection of drinks
What a great place, we tried this spot after hitting bell rock on our first night in Sedona. They have a good amount of seating inside and some outside as well. Service was good and the food was all amazing. We were starving and started to dig in before taking the pics. The tuna nachos are probably the best I’ve had. The made to order croissants were warm, flaky, buttery deliciousness. Also had the crab cakes, Caesar salad, and the blackened halibut. Honestly is was all amazing, not one thing we did not enjoy.
We are traveling in the area and needed a place to have a nice delicious breakfast with our dogs. We found Rascals on Google maps. We absolutely loved it 😍 They have a dog menu, we ordered a snack for our dogs. Plus an ice cold bowl of water for the dogs. Our food was absolutely delicious. We loved it so much we came back for a second visit.
Food was amazing! Service was great and they also treated our puppies like another guest. They got ice cold water and there's a dog menu available. Perfect spot to stop after hiking. Would definitely reccomend!
By far the BEST breakfast potatoes I have ever had. Seasoned to perfection, soft but just enough crisp around edges. And the staff was amazing S/O Lisa she was a delight!!
We liked everything about this place from the moment we walked in. The decor and ambiance are both classy and comforting. Service was on point to say the least. Thank you Mackenzie for making Martha feel at home with her limited English 🙏🏾 As for the food, the shrimp and grits are one of a kind as stated and highly recommended. The salmon likewise did not disappoint. In addition, coming from Las Vegas I am unfortunately accustomed to chicken 💩 whiskey pours. Not the case here. Not over the top, but fair. Highly recommended when in town.
We got a reservation here for Friday night. Keri was our server, and she was absolutely amazing. Very sweet and attentive. We had the green chile chicken soup, petite filet, halibut, and creme brulee. Every single dish was cooked to perfection with amazing flavors. We will be visiting again soon on this trip.
An unassuming gem of a restaurant. Menu items are primarily diverse American dishes with subtle and unique twists on contemporary and classic favorites. We stopped here twice during our visit. Everything I tried was colorful, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The portions are sized well, big enough for big appetites and not overwhelming for smaller appetites. You will probably need a small to-go box but you won't want to stop eating. The staff were kind, friendly, and warm. This will be a forever-stop for me anytime I'm visiting in the future. Thanks for the wonderful experiences!
My brother took us here for my birthday dinner, and we had the best time. We felt welcomed from the moment we arrived. I really appreciated that they had a genuine mocktails menu. They also had a good assortment of food choices for all diets (veggie, vegan, pescatarian, etc). Everyone was enamored with their food, and everything we ordered was thoughtfully prepared and delicious down to the last bite. The ahi tuna nachos were perfectly balanced with the ratio of chip to tuna as well as the other toppings. There were no naked chips, every chip had chunks of tuna. The vegan bento box was so fun and filling. The vegan tomato soup was to die for, and even the squash and green beans were beyond expectation. Our server was the cherry on top. She was so fun and friendly. We loved her. “Bye buddy, hope you find your dad!” 💕
Always a treasure trove of tasty delights here. The four of us had an assortment of entrees - grilled chicken burger, fish tacos, tuna tartar. Everyone was finishing up anything on each other’s plate because they were all delicious. The sauces are fresh and the plates are plentiful. Yummy. Sean our waiter was able to describe the ingredients to us and his service was impeccable. Ellen the manager is cheery and attentive. Great homey atmosphere. Plenty of parking. Top notch food.
Our new favorite place! Fantastic food, casual & enjoyable atmosphere, great happy hour, and our serving specialist Keri was just awesome. The fish tacos are top notch, prickly pear margaritas are excellent, and draft beers excellent. Just a great experience, and we're about to be regulars!
We had an excellent meal here! The shrimp and grits, meatloaf, and fried chicken were the winners of the night- make sure you leave room for the cobbler though! The real special part of the evening was the service. Keri was so wonderful- we had a baby and a 2 yo with us, and they were so accommodating! The bartender was also amazing, getting our girls fun paper straws to play with. I love a proper meal (which can be hard to find in Sedona) and often times the places with the best menus are less kid friendly. I appreciated that I could get a great meal, a few cocktails, and feel really welcomed by the staff. We will definitely be back every time we come here and put it on our list of recs for visitors!!
Melissa was AMAZING! She greated us with a smile and kindly waited for us to pick a table, then asked about our day and checked back in with us halfway through the meal, such care and kindness, and wasn't even our server!!! Our server was Lacy, and she was great too! Friendly quick, and she timed out all our courses perfectly Finally the food: The food was good! I asked for my burger pink, and it was pink, The cobbler was great. Lacey very sweetly offered us to exchange caramel gelato as a replacement for the vanilla because she knew we wanted it, and it was fabulous! Lastly Sedona's crazy in how early all the restaurants close, and this one is open until 10:00!
Our server at Rascal was wonderful — warm, friendly, and genuinely excited to share recommendations across the menu. She suggested several dishes, including the seared halibut, so we decided to follow her lead and ordered the ahi tuna nachos, the halibut, the shrimp and grits, and a salad to share. We also tried a few cocktails: the Prickly Pear Margarita, Elixir of Life, and the Rascal Bourbon. The ahi tuna nachos were a solid start — generous with the tuna and flavorful, though a little on the oily side. The shrimp and grits were good as well, but not particularly memorable. The drinks were nicely made, with the Elixir of Life standing out for its bright, refreshing taste, and all the cocktails were well-balanced and didn’t skimp on the alcohol — always appreciated. Now, about the halibut — as a New Yorker, I should probably know better than to order a delicate fish in Arizona, but halibut can be a great test of a kitchen’s technique, and this one came highly recommended. Unfortunately, it was overcooked, and if not for the corn butter it sat in, it would’ve been tough to get through. I don’t usually send food back, but did in this case, and even the replacement came out overdone. Overall, Rascal has a welcoming atmosphere, great service, and solid drinks. The food is good in parts, but maybe stick to the more forgiving dishes — and skip the halibut.
Food was delicious and service was amazing. Waitress was attentive and friendly. It's bit weird though, that they didn't have non-alcoholic drinks listed on their menu, but it's good that they still have some. One thing that was bothering me, was how loud it was. But of course, that's not a fault of this restaurant.
Rascals Modern American Diner was decent. The meatloaf was hearty and flavorful, the fried chicken was perfectly cooked and crispy, and the drinks were on point. The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, giving off a fun energy that made the whole experience even better. On top of that, the service was fantastic friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was just right. Definitely a place I’ll be coming back to and recommending to friends.
Great food and environment. I lived in this hotel so it’s very convenient. One thing to note is that this is the same restaurant as Mesa Grill and Creekside Sedona. So only try one of them is enough.
Everyone around me really seemed to enjoy their food. The flavors really weren’t for me. If you’re not a cilantro person there are dishes here to avoid. All presented beautifully and the service once we were seated was excellent. Fun vibe. Nice outdoor seating area. We shared the fire cracker shrimp and then I had the fish tacos. They were exactly the same. Came out quick and hot but after the shrimp I couldn’t do the same flavor anymore. Same heavy batter for the fish as the shrimp. Same heavy handed sesame oil Cole slaw on top of both. I’m not saying don’t order one of these but I wouldn’t suggest ordering both. The shrimp was very good, after having the shrimp I did not enjoy the taco. IfI hadn’t had the shrimp first I believe I would’ve liked the fish taco. I really needed a different flavor. Also, if you’ve ever had a good pisco sour for example in Peru this is not the place to have a pisco sour. In comparison this one was not to my taste.
The food was okay. Don't think we will go back again. Food tasted fine but Nithing special about it the presentation of the food makes it good way better. I felt like our waiter wasn't nice. The waiter seemed to come off just a tab rude at times but was overall okay. I did like the live music he was amazing.
We ate here last night. The restaurant is in a quiet mall with plenty of parking. The server was very good and the restaurant is a mix of 60’s styled tiles and abstract wall paper which I loved. Hubby had the shrimp and pork belly cheesy grits, which he really enjoyed. My 1st choice was meatloaf sadly they were out, I had the chicken piccata which was okay. The plum tomato soup was lovely and the hot flaky rolls were delicious. The blueberry cobbler was nice but underwhelming.
The food was really good, but the service was the highlight. Very attentive, the server knew the menu, checked back often and asked specific questions about the quality, not your typical "how is your food" check. The presentation of the food was beautiful. The Shishito peppers were fantastic, blistered perfectly and plated well. I had the Reuben, good flavor but the cheese was not quite melted and the bread was a little soggy, not crisp enough. Good flavor in the corned beef, sliced nice and thin. The fish tacos were large and delicious. The atmosphere was bland but ok.
Visiting parents. Menu online is wrong. Grilled cheese meal says $16 but when we ordered the menu says $18 Sean was our server, was friendly (might have spelled name wrong) . Quiet place, around lunchtime. Got the pancakes, my father got the grilled cheese with side of tomato soup and side salad. They make it look fancy but price is on the higher end and not sure if fully worth it.
The burgers and fish tacos were excellent but I didn't like the Barbecoa. Staff were friendly but the service was okay. We waited 10 minutes for extra tortilla and by the time it arrived our food was ice cold, and they charged us $4 for 3 tortillas! Not cool!
There were just a few things wrong with our experience here. Ordered our food and drinks all was well. The diet Coke was flat so we asked if our server could investigate. He said they did not pay him enough to lift heavy CO2 bottles but that indeed the tank was empty. This was a disappointing attitude. We asked for the house salad to come before the meal. Waited 20+ minutes and the salad arrived. Within 2 minutes the runner brought our entrees. I said, I knew that was how this would go. Her first response, "you want me to take the food back?" Next response, "there was a big table that's probably why your salad was so delayed." So service wise, this experience was actually pretty disappointing really. I tried to eat my salad fast but it didn't seem to help, by the time I got to the entree, the mashed potatoes were cold. But, the meatloaf was delicious and the vegetables, especially the string beans, were perfect and wonderful. The salad was great and my wife's soup was also really delicious and flavorful. Enjoyed the live music, and the food was good, but I didn't enjoy the service or the attitudes that seemed to exist.
Stopped in for dinner for the first time last night with a friend. Meals: Barbacoa and the Petite Filet. Both were excellent. The atmosphere was light and laid back; it was fairly busy around 7pm so there was a short 15 min wait for a table. Our server was friendly, but when my friend ordered a 2nd drink it took about 20 min to 30 min before it came to the table. Another person delivered it and apologized, assuming that our server got busy and forgot about it. Overall it was a pleasant experience.
Rascal has a welcoming atmosphere and service is good. Our server discouraged us from having shrimp and grits for being a spicy hot dish, even if the menu described only the sauce as spicy aioli. We ended up ordering the wagyu burger and ribeye. As Texas residents we were not impressed by the taste and preparation of the meats. Although the presentation of the dishes were good, the meat seasoning and taste didn’t please us. We didn’t send the dishes back because the food was edible and didn’t want to make a fuzz.
We had a good dinner here, but the vibe was not as nice as we expected. We made a reservation on OpenTable and assumed it would be a sort of elevated, mid-range situation. It's attached to a resort called The Wilde, which seems well appointed. When we arrived it was relatively cacophonous, with noisy families to the left (kids standing up on seats and such) and an amplified classical guitarist to the right (sounds like it would be nice, but it was a little much competing with everything else). Luckily, we were seated in the back dining room, which was quieter. Our server was helpful, and most of the food was very good. My main criticism of the experience was that we ordered the truffle chips from the sides list, assuming they would be made in house and garnished with some truffle oil. We were served some plain chips, like out of a bag from the grocery store, in a little paper cup with some truffle salt. No problem, we sent them back, but having this kind of thing on the menu totally cheapens the lot. Also, it's not hard to make fresh chips. Otherwise, everything else we had was delicious! Shishitos, halibut, and petit filet - all recommended. Also, my partner had the prickly pear margarita and enjoyed that!
I had high hopes for the place, but it really was "just okay." One of my daughters enjoyed their pasta, but the rest of us just wasn't impressed. Also, for a resort of this caliber, the restaurant should offer some NON-PORK options for breakfast. They didn't even have sliced turkey as an option. I strongly suggest that they add turkey bacon or turkey/chicken sausage. There wasn't fresh squeezed OJ, either. For the prices, I would just expect a better quality or a healthier variety for "pork" options. We were also sad to see that they didn't offer French Toast for breakfast (only pancakes). For both dinner and breakfast, my food came out lukewarm. Why did I return? The AMEX $100 resort credit that I needed to use!
I ordered the fried chicken and was deeply disappointed! It came with 3 wings,1 flat and two legs and a fried thigh. If I wanted wings instead of fried chicken I would have ordered them. For a 32 dollar price point it was a sad display. The small “honey” biscuit was small and dry with a bit of honey butter. There are so many better options in the area to eat at.
