Opiniones de Ludvig's Bistro Sitka
10 of us were lucky enough to be able to sit on the balcony at Ludvigs on a beautiful spring night. Right off the bat the service was impeccable,by Emmy. had the Tuscan prawns for appetizer, the Shrimp romesco as an Andreand Picasso for the dessert. Everything was Prepared beautifully. And was absolutely delicious. I’m embarrassed &happy to say most of us cleaned our plates. It was such a lovely night, as we were celebrating a friend’s birthday. Then Chef Edith came to give well wishes to birthday girl-she also thanked us for coming in. I cannot wait to eat here again. A++
Ludvig’s made a strong first impression during its soft opening, offering a cozy and intimate space that feels thoughtfully curated. The atmosphere is warm and charming. Although we had a reservation for the upstairs dining area, we sat at the bar due to diners lingering at their tables—this suggests there is room for improvement in managing reservations. We started with the artichoke appetizer, which was bright, flavorful, and perfectly portioned. The Elk Ragu Pappardelle Crown was the standout dish: rich, deeply savory, and elegantly plated. Parking is limited, so it's wise to plan accordingly. The service was attentive, and the wine selection included a well-rounded list that beautifully complemented the menu. Overall, Ludvig’s is another favorite spot to dine out in Sitka, AK.
Ludvig’s is pure Sitka magic. If you’re lucky enough to get a table (reserve early!), you’re in for a truly special meal, and get a taste of what Sitkans love most about our home. Chef Edith’s menu celebrates Indigenous ingredients and whole food delicacies; she’s got innovative pairings unlike anywhere else I’ve eaten, but Ludvig’s is also just GOOD eating, nothing flashy for flash’s sake. This feels like ‘real food’ at its finest; harvest and hook/line to table, handmade, and served up in a spot that feels like your cool friend’s well-decorated home. Good music, art, and easygoing but attentive service. Zero complaints, love this place and what means to Sitka. Plus I could eat their bread & oil until my last breath.
Ludwig’s restaurant delivered an exceptional dining experience on its opening night, offering a warm and inviting ambiance that immediately set the tone for an enjoyable evening. The carefully curated course meal selections showcased a thoughtful balance of flavors, with each dish executed to perfection. The chowder stood out as a highlight, boasting a well-calibrated blend of spice and richness that kept me craving more. The scallop appetizer was exquisitely prepared, featuring tender, succulent bites that exemplified culinary finesse. Portion sizes were generous and appropriately priced, ensuring a satisfying yet refined experience. The venison medallions, a true standout, were impeccably cooked, offering a harmonious combination of bold flavor and delicate texture. Wine selections were impeccable, complementing the menu with a well-rounded variety suited to discerning palates. This location is a surefire choice for an exceptional meal, further elevated by the convenience of reservations, which ensure a seamless dining experience free from unnecessary wait times. The wait staff excelled in their attentiveness, displaying professionalism and genuine warmth that enhanced the evening. Ludwig’s was a memorable highlight of my Alaska fishing trip vacation, a perfect way to savor the final moments before returning to the hustle and bustle of northern Virginia and the Beltway.
Hands down one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Yes, it’s pricey, but well worth it for locally sourced quality dishes. Had the scallops and arancini appetizers. Scallops were perfect, arancini was delicious but a large portion, the tomato sauce was a delicious reduction of vine ripened sweet tomatoes. Shared a Cesar salad which was good. The paella was out of this world- perfect mix of tender alaskan sea food with textured rice and balanced with salty spicy chorizo. Also had the prawns with a fantastic romesco sauce with deep flavors and rich creamy cilantro risotto. Save room for dessert- the pistachio cheese cake was a fluffy tart perfection with a nutty top layer, the Belgian chocolate boca negra was a silky smooth melt in your mouth fudgy deliciousness balanced with a ripe berry compote. All perfectly paired with wines suggested by our amazing server Anna. A meal to remember.
Delicious food and amazing atmosphere. Staff members are also very polite. I went with a group of ladies and we had an amazing time! Chef Edith came to greet us and made sure everything was great for us. Definitely can’t wait to go back again.
An incredible culinary experience that should be a requirement when visiting Sitka. Although only open seasonally, this restaurant joins a long list of reasons why you should visit Sitka in the summer. The food is amazing, service is impeccable and ambiance is fantastic. Don't forget to make a reservation! You won't regret it.
We enjoyed all aspects of our experience and we’d like to express what made it so great: The ambiance was outstanding. Our table was outside on the deck overlooking the Sitka Sound which was really romantic (when it got chilly we were given blankets-huge kudos!) The service was top notch-our waiter was engaged with us and multiple tables and knew what he was doing. Our food suggestions were spot on! And now the food! Of the three years together this is probably the best food at a restaurant we have had. Specifically, the scallops, the Caesar salad, the tenderloin, lamb chops, mushrooms, and our crème brûlée mixed with espresso was fantastic! I’d like to give a huge shout out to our Airbnb host (The Turner House) for recommending this restaurant and suggesting us to make reservations well in advance-we can see why now! Disclaimer: I apologize for not capturing our main dish which was the Tongas Mixed Grill. -The Rode’s
Lived up to all the hype. Small venue with incredibly well crafted food. Spanish themed. The paella was fantastic; only place I know of in Alaska that serves paella. A little tough to get in but worth it. The upstairs has a bar/tapas area that's first come/first serve but doesn't have the full menu.
Needing a place for dinner for our one night in Sitka I researched and selected Ludwigs Bistro. With large appetites my wife and I reserved bar seats with a view of the kitchen and we both agreed the food, service, and experience were as good as any place we’ve eaten. With so many delightful options, the menu offered and we accepted four courses. Our first courses: house-made-arancini in pomodoro sauce were the perfect texture and flavor and pan-seared scallops had the perfect sear and lemony and bacon flavor. Our second courses included a small Caesar salad featuring rich anchovy flavor and the house specialty clam chowder that included a smokiness that this New Englander found to be a pleasant surprise. The main dishes featured the house made fresh pastas: Sicilian Pesto, pappardelle win a combination of red and pesto sauces and the Elk and Truffles filled pasta tube featuring sage butter and Oregon truffles. Both pastas were cooked perfectly and their respective flavors were unique and rich. Amazing. Final course was a shared piece of pistachio cheese cake featuring imported Italian pistachio cream. A wonderful night featuring spectacular food and delightful conversation with Chef Edith and her staff. Highly recommend!!!
This is the hot spot in town. Get your reservations early. Don’t forget your wallet! $$ $ Ludwig’s Bistro is great. They combine Spanish notes and rich flavors to bring their colorful dishes alive. Chorizo plays a big role in the chowder and beef I the paella. The steak was the all star. The paella came in next. The chowder did not live up to the hype for me, but I was happy that I tried it and finished a full bowl. I’ll go to the cart next time. Overall the flavors were there and they were unique. The interior of the restaurant was creatively designed with a Spanish Mediterranean eye for detail. Crafty and cute. It was very cozy and the window seat allowed a perfect view of the sunset. The service was five stars. They were friendly and we won shirts! Visit this place. Order anything. Enjoy. Cheers.
Weird atmosphere. Dishes were super unique and cool, but not the most delicious food I’ve had. Pretty pricey, but knew that going in. Our waiter Christian was very good. Knowledgeable about the dishes and attentive. Sat on the covered deck expecting great view, but view was just okay.
The Tuscan Scallops is amazing. The scallop itself is fresh, crispy outside and juicy inside. But the important part is the sauce. The sauce has layers of flavours. It begins with a bit salty taste from the bacon and sour (maybe from the lemon). Then follows the sweetness of the scallops and ends with some taste of butter. Very flavourful yet very balanced. Compared with the scallops, the Paella Mixta is less impressive. I think the spice was a bit too strong and covered the original taste of various seafood.
The food is hit or miss. The scallops and king salmon were great, but the salmon mosaic and Alaska paella were pretty bad. The mosaic was mushy with bland flavor. The seafood portion on the paella was small and overcooked. The balcony got really hot with the sun coming through and the waiter didn't offer to roll up the covering or mention it was an option. I did like how they marked GF/DF on the menu. This place has some great stuff but also quite overrated especially considering the price.
Rarely do I leave a poor review but unfortunately we were deeply disappointed with our experience. We decided to dine at Ludvig’s to treat ourselves hoping it would be a high quality meal especially considering the price point. Unfortunately this was not the case. We paid a fortune and the food left a lot to be desired, and we ordered a ton of food! The bread was stale, the arancini’s rice was undercooked, the paella was bland, my pasta had an overwhelming amount of sauce, and the elk’s pasta dish was undercooked. That being said, I would recommend the salmon mosaic and the pistachio cheesecake was decent. Additionally, we made reservations weeks in advance and somehow we got seated at the bar. We requested to move to a table but it looked like all the tables were reserved, so we settled. Later new guests arrived without reservations and they got seated at tables. We were incredibly confused! Hopefully next time we have a better experience!
Because this is a local, woman-owned business, and because the service and atmosphere were wonderful, I’d love to give Ludvig’s a five-star review but based on the food and value I simply cannot. The starters — scallops and artichokes — were incredible! The main courses were disappointing. The truffle pasta was bland, not something you’d expect with a truffle meal, and the Sicilian pesto pasta was bitter. And, the meal was nearly $300. For 2 people. Including one beer and three glasses of wine. My meal was not worth that. Hopefully yours will be.
Ludwig’s under new ownership has completely destroyed their best dish, the Pallea they’ve had for years. If you go there don’t order the new version unless you want the worst entree on the menu
