We absolutely love this place! Every time we’re around in Lusk we always go the Stoop! Love the food, service and staff are amazing! The only disappointment was that the small little chocolate we always gets after dinner is no more!! So sad! 😢 Bring them back ASAP!! 🇮🇪 Now it’s mints instead! Unhappy 😞 But we will be back soon// Thank you 🙏🏽
Stoop Your Head is a true gem by the sea! Fresh, beautifully cooked seafood with flavours that shine through in every bite. The presentation is simple yet elegant — my crispy golden calamari with fresh salad and a perfectly tangy dip was spot on. The setting is warm and welcoming, with that relaxed coastal charm that makes you want to linger longer. A must-visit in Skerries for anyone who loves great food, great views, and a genuine Irish welcome.
Sat at the Bar, seating is for eservations. Great food and service. Order dessert when you order your meal, they go fast. Fresh flavorful meals. You can taste the ocean.
Excellent food and service at lunch. Opted for a starter of mussels with two mains of the fish pie which was superb and really good tempura prawns. Two glasses of wine and a bottle of fizzy water came to €76 plus tip. Very happy to recommend. Sitting in the conservatory area can be a bit drafty as staff keep using the external door (which has a sign saying do not use). This is a small issue for an excellent experience
Very nice restaurant, I had a seafood plate which was AMAZING, I’ve dreamed of that place and of the food after that, nice location, nice food, nice people, this place is a must do when you’re around trust me !!! You’ll get that Irish vibe, and just behind the restaurant there’s cute little walk next to the sea and to learn more about skerries’s islands, and the famous st Patrick island also, I’ll be back for sure
Cozy and still restaurant with sea view, the food was so fresh and delicious 🤤 Want to come back and try more as much as I can visit the town
Lovely location and a great wee pub/restaurant, always very popular with locals and the tourists , just beside the harbour with great views of your lucky enough to get a seat by the window, we shared a dish of spicy chicken wings and we both had cod and chips tonight , the starter was absolutely delicious but the main course , the fish fantastic and a big portion but the chips were not so good , they were a frozen chip and not a nice one , I don’t understand what any chef or restaurant would serve such a product , it’ll definitely put us off going back. We’ve been here a couple of times in the past and we’re satisfied but can’t remember if we had the chips before, it’s such a let down for a dish that depends on good chips . The wait between the started and the main course way too long . Sorry guys but not too impressed tonight .
We had lunch at the Stoop your head in a lovely Saturday. We were able to get a table without a reservation although the restaurant looked quite busy so I would recommend to book at table. We got the soup of the day (veg), fish pie, seafood chowder. Everything was delicious, especially the seafood chowder. I would also recommend the chocolate cake which look delicious but unfortunately we were too full to eat it. Service was excellent. We spent 66 euros. Recommended!
Known for its sea food, we expected the meals with be tasty and they were! I was pleasantly surprised with Cod Florentine, the sauce paired very well with the cod fish and it wasn’t overpowering. Fish and chips didn’t disappoint either. Great spot for heartwarming meals.
I liked this place so much, food was very good, nice and fresh, sitting area was just ok but view was very pleasant. Service was just ok but maybe it was cold outside ☺️
I had found this place before our trip on Instagram so we tried it out. I had a view of the sunsetting over the water while eating dinner. It was busy but they squeezed us in with no reservations. My bf enjoyed his first Guinness in Ireland. I enjoyed my crab and prawn with brown bread. Very different crab than what I’m used to in Maryland but it was very good! My bf enjoyed his fish and prawns
delish food, friendly customer service, perfect spot an amazing view on the marina
Excellent freshly cooked fish and seafood dishes. Lovely relaxing place to enjoy your dinner. Excellent service from your staff.
Read about this lovely gastro spot on a blog and decided to give it a try. Really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. Service was really friendly and fun! Also the location is outstanding,we had our table in the outside part of it. I ordered prawns in garlic sauce. Loved it! Also the kids menu is a catch!
5/5 experience! The team were very accomodating to my wife and our 17 month old. The food was so fresh and delicious. Best fish I have eaten in a LONG time! Would highly recommend this place for a meal and/or a drink enjoying the view. Thank you, SYH!
Best chowder I've ever had in my entire life!!! I'm from Seattle Washington and the staff there is absolutely amazing. The food is incredible. I was there with my girlfriend and her family who has lived there for ever and it's their favorite place!
3/7/24, evening meal for us two. Superb meal with all courses really excellent in quality and quantity. She had mains of asian chicken and I had the chilli ; both were excellent. Staff were very attentive and friendly, particularly Sonya and Kathleen. Ambience was relaxed and unhurried with a comfortable buzz of conversations. Hugely enjoyable evening.
Great place, we sat outside and the view was lovely. The food was tasty and fresh and very generous portions (we got squid as a starter, mussels and tempura tiger prawns as mains). I also liked the idea of savoury potatoes as an alternative to chips, very unique. Will definitely go back for more tempura prawns, yummy. Also thumbs up for having a different non alcohol beer (Steigel) as opposed to the usual Heineken 0.
Dad and I enjoyed our first meal in Ireland on our current trip at the Stoop. We had been recommended to try the Dublin Bay prawns and the chowder and neither disappointed. Would definitely return if we were staying in Skerries longer.
Nice environment and excellent fish crab soup. King prawns were fantastic. Kind personnel and meeting Patsy Kensit avatar was fun too. Best wishes and see you soon again!
Lovely restaurant with a great selection of fish dishes. I had the cod florentine which was so nicely cooked that was practically melting in the mouth. Very fresh also, the squid chunks we had as starters were not chewy at all. I also got the death by chocolate for desert and honestly I wasn’t expecting such a nice desert at a restaurant that specialises in fish. The staff also was super friendly and accommodating and very welcoming. Super happy with our choice of a small evening getaway and a dinner after a walk around the beach and will definitely visit again soon!
This seems like a great dine in location for seafood. The mussels were steamed and seasoned to perfection. The prawns and crab claw dinner was a huge portion size and delicious. Staff and atmosphere were great also.
Finally a place that when it has Pavlova on the menu it is indeed a Pavlova; not a meringue nest with filling. Excellent Espresso Martini, one of the best I've had. Tasty seafood chowder, Salt & Pepper Squid and Baked Salmon with Seaweed Butter. We were walk in, so no tables available but ample seating at the bar. Friendly service, we had three different servers and all lovely.
Best chowder!! Perfectly seasoned. Recommend to anyone!
Came here today and it was amazing. Greeted so nicely when we came in. We didn't have a reservation but they were extremely happy to accommodate us even though it was very busy , service was 100% with the two waiters that looked after us especially the young guy who looked after us. Food was gorgeous and massive portions. Left very happy. Thank you. Will be back again and we can't wait.
Really good food. If you like seafood this is your place. The staff is really friendly and the ambien inside is great. Lots of places to park the car and really nice views outside the restaurant. 💯% recommended
Stoop your head has a simple menu. The baked goat cheese with chutney is absolutely delicious. So many different tastes at once with a spicy twist. The beer battered fresh catch is the crispiest fish I’ve ever had. This is not your usual chip-shop fish and chip. You get a lightly battered, non-greasy crispy fish, salad and hand cut skin on fries on the side. Wonderful.
It gets crowded, even on weeknights. Reservations recommended.
If there's a better Seafood restaurant in Dublin I would dearly love to know, but I doubt it! 35 euro for Dublin Bay prawns or Crab claws in garlic butter or you can have half and half, worth every cent, magnificent! With a nice creamy pint of Guinness to wash them down, what's not to like? Situated on the harbour in Skerries and if you're tall, don't forget to Stoop your Head! 😄
Great place for the food. Mostly fish dishes. Chowder to die for. Mouth-watering cod. Drink aiways good. Beautiful desserts. Superb views over the harbour. Sit and watch the sunset. You might even meet someone famous.
Seafood heaven This place is number 1 for food in Skerries. If down Skerries harbour it's a must try.The Dublin bay prawns in garlic butter are melt in the mouth and it does a great pint of Guinness. You just can't beat it on a sunny day in Skerries😎the menu caters for everyone and they also do daily specials aswell. You won't be disappointed🥂🍽🦀
Good quality, tasty food. I ordered fish which had nice meaty texture what is difficult to find in many other restaurants where fish is like mash.
Great seafood, wonderful view on the bay and amazing staff. To sum up, a great restaurant! Come back for sure!
Good place to visit, great place to eat. Second time here and took three colleagues from around Europe. They all loved it!
I have been there multiple times and will return. The food is always tasty and fresh a d service is impeccable. Definitely a address to recommend 👌
The best fish n'chips I have ever had. The fish was crusty on the outside but tender on the inside. The french fries were cooked perfectly. Accompanied with a glass of white wine, it was just perfect. The waitresses were really welcoming. The atmosphere was really pleasing with view on the harbour
Varied menu, only seating was at the bar when we arrived. Food was fine, fish pie was heavy on the cheese topping which marred the taste of the fish.
We booked quite late but still got a table. Delicious garlic cheese bread as a starter. Followed up with some nice shrimps and a sweetness overload to end the evening. Price was balanced for the size and quality of the food. Definitely would recommend!
Staff very welcoming and food fresh and tasty. We heard about this place and couldn’t get a table on line. Called in to see if any chance of seating us, and yes we got sorted, yippee.
Nice & cosy place to enjoy good food with a view on the harbour. Staff is very friendly, the food menu is fish-oriented, with a good selection of traditional food at an affordable price
Delicious and luxurious seafood chowder (with piece of crab paw!!) + Really fresh & tasty fish ! Nb : meals are really rich / creamy, so really heavy on the stomac 😅! + Wonderful view & pleasant terrace :) Drawnback about the cleaness of the table
Decent seafood restaurant. Told us they were fully booked when we asked at 5pm on a Sunday, but we got a table after saying we'd be quick. The starters are big and good value if you want to order a few of them instead of a main. The seafood chowder was packed full of big chunks of fish.
I've yet to be let down by Stoops. Emphasis on fish and seafood, which is only right. Ample bar. Warm, friendly staff.
Back on Harbour Road, Stoop Your Head serves up a proper pint with crowd-pleasers including chowder, mussels and seafood-laden brown bread sandwiches priced around €20. One of the more traditionally Irish outposts in the town, but get disappointed with a food. Food is overpriced and wasn’t tasty. The best from our dinner was probably chowder and also very small portion as the rest course portions too. You are sitting very close to each other tables and you can hear what the other people talking about. I ordered salmon with asparagus and Parmesan cheese sauce but hit a salmon with leeks and wild mushrooms, when I asked why I hit it instead of my order, the answer was simple - no more left. But I would like to be informed about it. We were sitting and waiting when our table would be cleaned after our dinner to order some dessert but we were waiting about 20 min that someone finally came. It were too many staff serving such a small place but all of them were standing behind the bar and just talking. Service and training need to be improved.
We went specifically for the gluten free menu which looked good. However all is not what it seemed. Chips are naturally gluten free but not if fried in the same oil as non gf food, battered fish, scampi etc, regardless of the temperature of the oil. If you are going to advertise a gf menu it's important to your customers that you understand what your talking about. My other non celiac friends enjoyed their food which was well presented.
It was all great until the end! This was the first time we've eaten here even though I grew up in Skerries, we were out with friends to celebrate our anniversary and we’re really looking forward to our meal as the Stoops has a great reputation for good seafood. We arrived and were shown to our table by some lovely staff, we ordered drinks, starters and mains which were all delicious and served by very helpful staff. We had finished eating and were trying to get the attention of a staff member so as to settle our bill when another staff member, who I presume was some sort of manager as she was dressed differently to the other staff, arrived to our table loudly advising us that we needed to leave as there was another group waiting for our table, there was no excuse me or please or anything other than a scowling face. This was the first time we had any contact with this person and no one had asked us to vacate the table up to this point. The lady stormed off in some sort of huff as we asked for the bill. It’s a real pity as we really did enjoy our meal and service up to this point. We all have bad days but there’s no need to be rude!!
I recently ate here and ordered the Duo of Sea Bass and Dublin Bay Prawns. When it arrived I was so disappointed. The portion size was very small for a main course that cost €35 ! It tasted nice but there was simply not enough of it. I left the restaurant still hungry. I will not be ordering this again.
We had a reservation for Monday lunch and were the first to arrive. While the food was adequate, the service was noticeably lacking and made us feel unwelcome from the moment we walked in. It was a very windy day, but before we could even enter the main dining room, a staff member immediately focused on the logistics of our infant's buggy, advising us to remove the "wheels" upon entry. I politely declined, but the immediate focus on the buggy created an awkward and uncomfortable atmosphere. This lack of hospitality continued throughout the meal. The same individual made several unnecessary comments that clearly indicated our young, well-behaved infant and buggy were an inconvenience. We understand spatial constraints and are always prepared to fold a buggy when necessary, but a proper welcome should always be the priority. Our family has dined in restaurants across Europe and Ireland, and we have never experienced such a poor display of hospitality regarding a young child.
We went into Stoop Your Head today with our 18-month-old son. We were first through the door but were ushered straight to the outdoor patio. I’m not sure why we couldn’t be seated in the main restaurant — unless it was because of the buggy, which we were happy to leave to one side as directed by staff. We didn’t have a reservation, but it was hard to believe the entire indoor area was fully booked. The first table we were offered didn’t allow for a seat for our son, as it required a strap-on seat to a regular chair — something I’ve never come across before. I’ve certainly never been to a restaurant that didn’t have proper highchairs. We asked if we could move to an adjacent table and were told yes, as long as we were gone by 2:45. We then waited another ten minutes for a seat for our son. When it arrived, it was absolutely appalling — crusted with dirt and black with grime. I have genuinely never seen anything so unhygienic offered for a child. As loyal customers who’ve always loved this place and recommended it to family and friends, we were so disappointed by today’s experience. We left immediately after complaining about their lack of hygiene. We won’t be back.
Charged 2 euros extra when I asked for some more tartar sauce. Charged for a desert which we didn't order or have. Wasn't busy. Was there 2 weeks ago on a Sunday for lunch. Food was lovely though.
