Opiniones de 1902 Wunsche Bros. Spring
Wunsche Bros is easily one of the best restaurants I’ve been to, among many places in the US as well as Europe and Asia. Mark W took care of us, and he’s a great storyteller! Before your food, you get the opportunity to hear the story of the place and imagine how the place evolved over 100 years and can even see upstairs where it used to be an inn. Food was amazing; they have a campfire grill and the pork chops are a non-negotiable. The smoky flavor is very rich and the maple sauce brightens it up. It’s common to get thirsty soon after a heavy meal, and we didn’t even think of it but Mark gave us water to-go since we’d be window shopping around Spring. Southern hospitality, good food and history come together to make this a great experience!
Had dinner at Wunsche Bros. Café & Saloon and ordered the Wunsche Burger with pepper jack and smoked bacon, plus a cold Corona. The burger was solid and straightforward—juicy patty, smoky bacon that didn’t turn sweet, pepper jack melted into the meat instead of overpowering it. Fresh toppings, bun held together, fries hot and properly salted. The building carries the weight here. All wood, no polish, no performance—just a place that’s been used for a long time and knows it. You can feel the history without it being staged or explained at you. Service didn’t rush, the room stayed comfortable, and nothing tried too hard. It’s hard not to think about the night before Prohibition, when people came in from miles around to drink the bottles dry and dance until morning. About Charlie and Dell pooling the last drops of whiskey into a chocolate cake rather than letting anything go to waste. That instinct—use what you have, make it count—still feels present. This isn’t a spot chasing trends. It’s a reliable, grounded Texas meal in a place that knows exactly what it is—and has for over a century.
Get the beer bread!!! Great bartender Jackie. Excellent service. Tomato basil soup was great. My ribeye was good. A little too fatty for my taste. The salmon was good. The bread though!!! I even bought a mix to take home. The little shopping district is a history lovers dream.
Fantastic vibe, with service and flavors to match. Great meals and bar. I had the double chop and it was cooked perfectly. Juicy and tender, and the side of mashed potatoes was the icing on the pork cake. I indulged afterwards in the chocolate whiskey cake, and it hit the spot, not too sweet, chocolaty with a caramel drizzle and pecans. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Stopped by on impromptu date. Was not disappointed. We had deviled eggs, chicken fried steak, elote, and buttermilk pecan pie. Mark W was an excellent server! Will definitely be back! Thank you!
Great place. Fun, antique full of history. Yummy food. Harmony was our server and was above and beyond, helpful and very kind. Definitely will come back with friends. Follow.me.on Instagram for more @whatislinked
First time visiting Wunsche Bros. Cafe & Saloon and all I can say is wow! We’ve passed by this café so many times, and I’m so glad we finally stopped. The food was amazing! We ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken, the Wunsche Burger, Smoked Pork Chop, Kids Slider, and a side of mac and cheese with country-style green beans. Everything was very flavorful and delicious! CJ was our waiter and did an amazing job throughout our entire dining experience. Great customer service—he shared the backstory of the saloon and was very helpful with our food choices. We will definitely be back to try more dishes!
Morgann did a fantastic job serving us. Food was outstanding vibe of relaxation and Ola school charm. Price was fair for food portions and quality. Really just a solid dining experience. Keep it up
This is an amazing place to eat. If you are here and hungry or thirsty make the journey to Wunsche Bros. As soon as you park your car you will smell the smoke coming from the BBQ and you will be salivating. The food here is so tasty!! I had the half roast chicken and the smoke and seasonings they add on go all the way through the juicy meat. Perfectly cooked. The whole menu looked so tasty it was hard to decide. The service was awesome. Aimee and Naesha took good care of our large party of 13! They did a great job, our glasses never ran empty and we didn’t wait for anything! Phenomenal service. They also took the time to tell us the history of the building which is from 1902! A cool place with an incredible story! Give it a try if you are visiting, live in Houston, or if you need one last stop before getting to IAH for a flight home. What a great place!
We came back for the Sunday Special of the pork chop! So incredibly good and Zoe was an amazing server! The daily deals are really a great perk but would order this pork chop any day of the week! We also ordered "The Hummingbird" Liebation. I highly recommend it if your looking for a NA drink!
First time here and I loved it. The food was excellent. I had the chicken fried chicken and it did not disappoint. Real juicy and tender, real mashed potatoes, delicious! Plus the place was very comforting, laid back and love that it was and old hotel. Just became one of my favorite spots. Amazing service also.
Wow! We saw this place and it’s pork chop on TikTok and had to visit! We were not disappointed! We started off with some wonderful deviled eggs and fried zucchini. Wonderfully fried zucchini with no greasy residual. The pork chop was the best I have ever had. Just the right amount of smoke. Tender, not dry and the flavor was on point. The skin on mashed potatoes were literally on the next level of simple, light and buttery. Perfect compliment to the pork chop. I never tasted the accompaniment of the apple sauce they served with the pork chop. It was so stand alone delicious, I just forgot about the apple sauce. The service was fantastic, thank you Morgann. Thank you the other server JR and the manager, Jason for simply adding to our dining experience. We will certainly be back and may even rent the second floor for one our company private events.
We had the most magical Christmas Eve thanks to our waiters, Nick and Aimee. The restaurant felt straight out of a Hallmark Christmas movie, and Aimee truly stole the show — like a favorite character come to life. She was so cheerful and engaging, genuinely joyful. Best service we’ve had in a long time, and the pork chop was absolutely divine.
Very busy the Monday before Christmas. Fantastic service. Smoked chicken salad was enormous. The chicken had amazing smoke flavor, but was too dry for me. Can't go wrong with the amazing onion rings. My mother had chicken fried steak. It was so large it covered the entire plate. She also raved about the squash casserole.
So glad we opted to stop here!!! First timers and our server, Allec, was amazing. His recommendation for the Apple of my Pie drink and daily special was just what we needed! Everything we ate today delicious. The service from Allec along with some shared knowledge of the location made us feel like V.I.P. Definitely will need to make another trip with the family again
11/15/25 - Always a joy and superb service! I decided to host our Friendsgiving dinner here this year! Jaylin our waitress was fabulous , very polite, and a blessing. Everyone left happy, full, and delighted with their meal selections and enjoyed the beauty of Wunsche. Dessert is always a must! 😃🥧🍰 Delicious, Amazing, Fabulous, one of a kind place with outstanding service full of unique history and filled with a complete satisfaction ride for your taste buds . Sisi our waitress was excellent and the reason we’re already planning our return. Thank you, for all you do. We enjoyed every bite of our meals. Shared the onion rings and crisp to perfection cheese curds. I was very happy with my lunch. I had the tasty fried catfish, delicious fries, and hush puppies. We are true believers in enjoying the small and great things in life so we decided to order every dessert and shared! Wonderful!😋🍰🥧🍨
Today was my third time visiting, and honestly, it was the best experience yet! We came on their Wednesday pork chop special night. My husband and I were in a time crunch and only had about 50 minutes before our next plans. Our server assured us we'd be fine -- and she was right! Our food came out in about five minutes, which absolutely amazed me. My husband's pork chop was massive, tender, and full of flavor. The apple butter paired perfectly with it. I ordered the chicken fried steak, and I can honestly say it's the best I've ever had. The portion was generous, and the mashed potatoes were creamy and delicious -- especially with the steak. The mac and cheese was simple but still tasty. We also tried the Wunsche Mojitos -- they were sweet and refreshing (I just wish it was a touch stronger). Our server was fantastic! I didn't catch her name, but she had such a great personality and made the whole experience even better. Can't wait to come back again -- and enjoy our leftovers tomorrow!
My first visit to Wunsche Brothers Cafe & Saloon and I’m disappointed in myself I had not dined here on my previous visits to Spring. I sat at the bar and had the pleasure to meet Jackie…who took excellent care of me. I ordered a local brew called Brazos Blond and decided on the special for the evening…Blackened Redfish with Crawfish Etouffee, blackened shrimp, and shredded crab meat with a side of rice plus I added a side salad. Great salad…everything was fresh and the in-house dressing was very tasty. The flavors of the blackened fish and shrimp was just perfect. Just enough heat to give it a kick while allowing all of the flavors to shine through. Exceptional dining experience!!!
11/2/2025: We planned a shopping day in Old Town Spring. Shoppers need fuel, so we made reservations for lunch to start our day. I highly recommend reservations. If you are unable to find a table online, try calling in. That's what we had to do to get a table. I'm sure weekdays are easier to get in for lunch. We went on a gorgeous fall Sunday. We don't get many of those in the Houston area, so we made the best of it! To start, Wunsche Bros Cafe & Saloon opened in 1902 in Old Town Spring as the Wunsche Brothers Saloon and Hotel. It was originally built by brothers Dell and Charlie Wunsche to serve railroad workers and travelers. This establishment was also a brothel. They have a rich history with the clientele, going through Prohibition, fires, and years in business. WBC&S is absolutely haunted and having it positioned at the end of the street right next to an operating railroad, made the scene that much more interesting. A train went speeding by as we entered the doors. Scary places always have a train. It truly set the scene. After being seated at our table, we were immediately greeted by our waitress, Misty. She was a wealth of knowledge and I thought it was very nice for her to not only take time to tell us the history but to also answer our questions. Especially noting the restaurant was very busy, Misty was great! She was on top of our drinks, our order, and all around a pleasure! We started with the cheese curds. They were crispy and delicious. We also order the beer bread. It is very dense! I wasn't crazy about the taste. Beer was definitely present. All four of us ordered the Wunsche burger. We all split the burger baskets. It looked small but turned out to be the perfect amount. The burger was delicious! The fried were hand cut and crispy. We got a side of sweet potato fries to try. I wasn't impressed with those. After our meal, we ventured upstairs to take a look around. It is creepy up there! Old photos on the wall with period staged furniture, and the rooms are still sectioned off so it is easy to imagine the brothel in your mind. I was very impressed with the preservation of the upstairs area. They have a party room upstairs and other smaller areas available for s more intimate group experience. Outdoor seating is also available both upstairs and downstairs. It is not on the railroad side, so the noise would probably be less, which would help. Highly recommend. This place is great!
Cheroke was our server and she was absolutely wonderful—so sweet, attentive, and genuinely friendly. She made sure we had everything we needed and made our experience extra special. The food was incredible, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy a great meal. We’ll definitely be coming back soon and recommending it to all our friends!
This was my first time here. My bestfriend said let me take you somewhere. And he did not disappoint! Jacki was awesome and expressed a few options for my first time! Jacki was awesome because she did not disappoint in those options. The service is good, the food is good and I am satisfied! I have found a new spot and will be back! Thank you bestfriend and Jacki. First impressions are lasting ones!!!
This was my first time visiting + my friend’s second visit—we had the best experience! Hannah was our “Storyteller”/server, and she was FANTASTIC. She was attentive, knowledgeable, efficient, and friendly. She quickly approached our table to take our drink order + made recommendations for appetizers. We took her advice + ordered the cheese curds, which I also now highly recommend. She commented on my drink order (Espresso Martini! ☕️🍸) which indicated I made a good choice + that hunch was confirmed when I tasted it. BEST ESPRESSO MARTINI I’ve ever had. Hannah told us about the Saloon and Café which has a storied history, so definitely make sure you allow her to tell you all about it! We ordered the pork chop, and y’all, it was the best pork chop either of us had ever eaten—remarkably tender + slightly smoky; delicious. It was huge + came with a compound butter and apple butter as well as mashed potatoes that were impeccably seasoned + the perfect accompaniment to the smoked pork chop. Hannah checked in on us a couple of times throughout the meal to ensure we had all we needed/wanted + she offered dessert at the end—they have key lime pie AND peach cobbler as well as a few other yummy options. The atmosphere was friendly with good vibes. Any employee we came into contact with had a smile on their face which says a lot! If you’re in the area, make this a priority for a good meal with awesome service—and ask for Hannah!! ♥️
Food is great but expensive. This is our first time here. Nick was our wait staff. He was great. Very friendly, offered suggestions, and answered questions very politely and professionally. Atmosphere was great. It is partly a historical building. Part was rebuilt after a fire, so half is a 100+ year old building and the other half is new and modern. Food came out quickly. Food had a great flavor and arrived at our table hot. Really my only complaint is the price. Our order was an appetizer - $14, two lunch specials - $28, one cocktail - $15, one piece of cake - $10, and two sweet tea - $9. With tip it was roughly $100...for lunch. Everyone says try their porkchop but that's $39. Too much for me to pay for pork, but that's a personal choice. But, grading on just the food and service, it's five stars from me.
We hosted my parents 50th anniversary last night at Wunsche Bros. The atmosphere is a whole esthetic of rustic elegance and the food was delicious—many guests commented on how much they enjoyed their meals. I felt the pricing was fair and the event coordinator, Peyton, was extremely attentive and easy to work with. She made the experience a breeze after we had to change from a different venue that had fallen through. (Seriously loved working with her!) I’m so glad the other spot was a no-go, as Wunsche gave us the celebration we envisioned! We were so blessed in our service, as well, from JC, Lisa, and Shanon. They kept upbeat and on the ball in a room with complex allergies, little kids, and high energy. They did a fantastic job of keeping us fed and on time as the night came to a close. Seriously kind and attentive service! Manager, Jason, worked with us, as well, and helped to make details from setting up music to payment easy to understand. The team at Wunsche is top notch and I would host another event here without hesitation. Thank you!
Jackie, the bartender was wonderful. She was Informative about the history Wunsche and the skeletons in the closet. I am well traveled, and I usually eat my meals at the bar. Jackie is one of best at her job. I did enjoy my wedge salad. The pork soup was just ok. I'll return to Wunsche next time I'm in Spring
