Best places to eat at are hole in the walls… this little gem has really good authentic Chinese food especially the Dim Sum! I love the salt and pepper shrimp! It’s the perfect amount of batter and spices and flavors! Can’t wait to try some of their other signature dishes!
Food is amazingly fresh...and the portions a huge enough the feed more the one person. If you want fresh Chinese food this is the place. Just know that you need to come hungry. 10/10.
The dimsum place that we used to go has been closed for renovations then we came to this place for the first time and everything was amazing!! Food service and atmosphere . Prices are reasonable.I won’t come back to that place again and will only come back to Oriental Chef..I can say this place is the best dimsum spot in Stockton.
This is a wonderful authentic Chinese restaurant. The service was excellent and the food came quickly. Everything we had was delicious. We started with sizzling rice soup, followed by steamed chicken, roast duck, Peking spareribs, fried rice, gailan (Chinese broccoli) honey walnut shrimp, beef chow fun, and Hong Kong style chow mein. This was our first time here, and we will definitely come back.
My favorite place to come get dim sum any type of day I come in here. They already have them so I'm ready to go.

Definitely some of the best Chinese in town. Has a hole in the wall look but has a surprisingly nice dining area. They have all the standard options- flavorful and not greasy. They also have a dim sum menu and an authentic dish menu. When we ate in the service was great and they even comped us some egg rolls and a dessert dish! Not the cheapest Chinese but you get what you pay for.
After years of passing by, I finally checked some reviews and was surprised to see the restaurant highly rated. The wife and I ordered from the lunch menu. The orange chicken was well prepared, with a thin crispy coating, the orange sauce a little light on flavor but still enjoyable. My wife had the green bean chicken, she was happy with the flavors, I tried it and liked it, the fresh ginger was just right. The portions are large and the price right considering what's going on with inflation now. Also surprising was the size of the dining room, from the outside this place doesn't look like much but inside it's spacious and clean. The phrase "Don't judge a book by it's cover" applies here. We'll be returning and for anyone looking for reasonably priced, well prepared Chinese food, Oriental Chef is worth a try. Staff is friendly too.
We had a birthday party of 40 people with 5 tables at Oriental Chef, from reservation to the end of party, they were on top of communications and took good care of us. The foods are super yummy with generous portion. We had preordered dishes and they came out in right sequence as we requested. Overall experience, 5 stars for food, service and ambiance, highly recommended.
Food is always so fresh and amazing! I go here for their dimsum and it's always made fresh, they're big in size and sooooo delicious!! Love that their dimsum menu is all day where as other restaurants usually only do dimsum on weekends or restricted times. Staff has been exceptional and very kind during every visit. Love this spot!

Great food and excellent service. Lots of favorites. Try the salt and pepper shrimp, soy sauce noodles, vegetable fried rice, cashew chicken, and many more. Update. Went back this past Sunday and the food was so good, it deserves another 5-star review so I'm back with this post-edit. Other great dishes to try, orange chicken, mongolian chicken, chicken porridge, singapore noodle, and the hits keep coming. Enjoy!
September 17, 2022: Had to revise the rating. My aunt had asked if they had included the sweet-and-sour sauce with a takeout order and they said they did. When we took it back home, there was no sweet and sour sauce. We would have not ordered two plates of fried shrimp balls if we knew the sauces wouldn't be included. Earlier in September 2022: Ordered takeout and when the bag was handed over to me, I asked the employee if the entire order was in the bag (the bag felt skimpy). I found out the bag was missing an order of fried shrimp balls, but the employee included the charge in the total tab. The employee went to the kitchen, came back and stated the restaurant had made 6 orders of shrimp balls, 1 was supposed to be mine, but they gave away all 6 orders to the people seated at the tables. Took a long time to get a credit card refund. Beef roll noodles, shrimp roll noodles (ha cheng), cilantro dumplings, sui mai, fried shrimp balls with the sweet and sour sauce, and egg tarts are excellent. There is a dinner special where you can order 3 entrees from a list and get a full-sized soup for $39.99. Past Review from July 2022: Oriental Chef in Stockton, California is next door to the Hammer Ranch Post Office. Excellent dim sum with roll carts. Good service. The flavoring on the dim sum is more delicate than that of other places I have visited. High ceilings and ample space. Visited here on July 16, 2022. Ordered takeout for pickup on July 30, 2022. Excellent quality.
Ordered quite a bit of dim sum to bring back home for lunch as there aren’t any in my area. They all had good flavor and good amount of filling, but the tapioca skins on some of them are a bit too thick for my preference. The chicken feet were nice and tender, the beef tripe was very good also. I got there a bit past 1PM and a few items were sold out so next time I will go earlier.

Oriental Chef is a hidden gem in Stockton, California. It is a small, family-owned restaurant that serves up some of the best Cantonese food in town. The quality of the food is excellent, and the portions are generous. I have been to Oriental Chef many times, and I have never been disappointed. The service at Oriental Chef is also excellent. The staff is friendly and attentive, and they are always happy to make recommendations. I have never had to wait long for my food, and it is always delivered hot and fresh. Plenty of parking but a bit hidden away in a shopping center

I’ve been here multiple times. Sometimes they forget things and one time I even got raw sui mai. Gross. Didn’t even do much except take it away. Thank God I didn’t eat it. But it’s funny that it happened on my birthday. And we ended up paying more than $120 for our meal.

I ordered 2 shu mai and 2 orders of shrimp dumpling only. And it came up to 32 dollars. It was just appetizers. On the menu it says $6 each. I paid but I did ask for the receipt and the receipt is not clear on what you paid for. Something is not adding up. Pay attention to your bill. The food is delicious but don't take advantage of people.

Order chow mein and ask for thin noodles and they charge me extra $3.00 never have I ever been charged for replacing fat noodles for thin noodles. Never going back there again even if that’s the only restaurant in the world
Food was good. Limited menu. No combo playes. Staff barely speaks English. Nothing has changed in 15 years.

This is the most prejudiced restaurant I’ve ever been to.. These people don’t look at you, they don’t speak first, and they don’t offer any help. Customer service is terrible. After 14 minutes of waiting right in front of them, someone walked in and spoke in their native language and pointed at me.. Finally a young girl walked in and asked if I had been helped, which I responded, no. She took my order and then another 20 minutes later brings my food. No napkins, no sauces, and no eating utensils. I could not believe how bad I was treated in there. Don’t have to worry about me coming back.
We ordered takeout from this place an hour before closing and the food tasted HORRIBLE. The fried rice had ZERO seasoning, Chow mein were old and dry with no taste, and the 18 piece walnut prawns were 16 SMALL SHRIMPS. Mind you, they were so small I had to count because the box seemed almost empty. They also didnt give anything like soysauce or even napkins with the takeout. We had to add salt to the food just to make it bearable. Never ordering from this place again. Waste of $50!
Lot of old food, sour, Make sure you ask a details receipts I was charged for 4$ more when i ask a detailed receipts,, they cheated complain i order dim sam after 3pm?? I call to pick up,, my foods. I did not know about they charged 1$ more for each dum sum. Food sour old be careful I no order there any more Overcharged for no teason, food d old
Went here today with my family for my little brother’s promotion. The food was alright but the service was terrible!!! My grandma was being sweet and the lady had an attitude. I get it the business working in customer service does suck, so we gave her leeway to be. But the whole service sucked from her and we were there for hours. I get it you were busy but you don’t completely avoid your customers nor be little them. We no longer want to partake in your business.
