Opiniones de Backdoor Bakery Sunland-Tujunga
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We met up as a group of 12 motorcyclists at The Back Door Bakery & Cafe (8349 Foothill Blvd, Sunland, CA 91040) to kick off our day, and it turned out to be a great spot. The place has a cozy and charming vibe, perfect for a morning gathering. Breakfast and coffee were enjoyable, with good quality food and flavors. Prices were reasonable too. Overall, a nice spot to start the day—definitely worth a visit!
The Backdoor Bakery in Sunland/Tujunga is a hidden gem that delivers an unforgettable breakfast experience. Widely regarded as having the best breakfast burritos in all of California, this cozy spot blends bold flavors, fresh ingredients, and generous portions into every bite. Their pastries are just as impressive—flaky, rich, and full of homemade charm—easily ranking among the best in the area. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, The Backdoor Bakery is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates top-notch comfort food.
I recently bought a house in Sunland and decided to check this place out. Service was amazing and everyone is very friendly. Menu is my dream breakfast menu 😍 Coffee is amazing, homemade syrups, pastries, and bread too. I’m convinced anything you get here will be well worth it!!
This is more than just a simple cafe. Large variety of breads and pastries along with a breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus. They even have happy hour. Vegan options too with vegan cheeses and milks. Dressings and sauces taste homemade as well. The ambiance is pretty nice and relaxed with a little bit of fun. Artwork from local artists and photographers on the walls and classic hit songs playing. They have trivia night and even bands performing here too. Very affordable as well. Great place to check out
Wonderful staff! Delicious baked goods! Reasonable prices, and they sell raw milk! Free wifi, and nice restrooms, too. I want to say, thank you to the friendly staff! ❤
The staff was friendly food was delicious, place is amazing ❤️
Great staff! Great food! Good prices. Only point I didn't love is that they charge for coffee refills while you're dining there.

I'm a creature of habit and I tend to always get the same thing at Backdoor and it's breakfast 98% of the time so this is not the most well-rounded star rating but what I get, I love! The Holly Special is my go-to. Love their Spinach-Feta croissant. The best thing ever is their Milanese cupcakes. These little hazelnut cupcakes that aren't made everyday so you never know when they'll be around (though you can special order them). I love their coffee too and the fact that they make everything in house, condiments, syrups, etc., is a big plus for me.
Fell upon this hidden gem, new to the neighborhood. Nice atmosphere, even live music, friendly staff...baked goods are fresh, clean and amazing. Sourdough and the blueberry tart..delish!
Best breakfast burrito and I love the coffee also croissant is very fresh… Goodluck not getting addicted to this place Make sure you add avocado and bacon on breakfast burrito

A very nice bakery and cafe serving fresh baked pastries, cookies, coffee, breakfast, lunch and dinner entrees. There is indoor and outdoor seating and friendly , helpful staff. We ordered specialty croissants both sweet and savory. We were very happy with our selection and would definitely return.
cute little cafe on the corner almost, with parking in the plaza or on the street. They have a pretty big selection of pastries and some bread along with other drinks in the fridge and food as well. They also quite a bit of grab-and-go food. Ordered an Almond latte, cinnamon sticky bun, coconut cupcake, hazelnut cinnamon pastry and a frosted cookie.. The guy helping me was very nice and even brought my drinks out to me when they was ready. The pastries were tasty, the cinnamon sticky bun was delicious, very sweet and kinda messy lol. The almond latte was great, tasty and not too sweet.
Fresh ingredients, great coffee and helpful service staff. Really good alternative to Starbucks if you are looking for quality coffee and also want a good breakfast. The pastries are so yummy and fresh

Good breakfast omelettes, Hash browns though are very oily. Good quality and selection of bread and pastries. Service was ok. Prices are fair $$ Definitely I Will try it again.
Overall food wise, its great. I liked their spinach crossiant but for $7.50? However, their tea latte was pathetic. They just gave me tea bags in hot water, sugar and put frost on top of it. It has great ambience!!

At the end of a long day we opted for Backdoor Bakery. Place has endless menus written on huge blackboards. Display cases are full of pastries. I picked a ham croissant. Dough was quite thick, ham inside was cubed thick as well. I did'nt like it at all. It should have been an airy puff pastry and thin layers of ham inside. One of our friends had their beef soup. Waiter delivered it on a plate full of spilled soup. It looked very oily and sloppy. Our friend took a spoonful and said it was really bad. He couldnt eat it. I took another look at their display case and noticed that the majority of their pastries looked old and dry. There were danishes with out of date strawberry. Their cookies are baked unevenly and shaped weird. Muffins looked alright. Maybe they should concentrate on what they know how to make.
I think the place is pleasant if only the food matched. I ordered chicken tenders and fries. Both were over cooked The chicken was so overcooked tough to eat The dip they serve was very spicy. Asked for ranch was told they didn't have . I believe they serve salad but maybe I was wrong. So asked for mayo.. nope they don't have... but they serve turkey sandwiches..again oh well Fries the same cooked to a point that they were so crispy that they tasted burnt. 23$ no drink just the food. The pastries looked good should have ordered one of the muffins. The waitress was a bit rude. As if she had no time and restaurant was not busy. First and last time I go I will give a thumbs up to the guy who was behind the counter he was polite and explained you ordered sit and they bring your food.. Maybe breakfast is better..But lunch no way.. The one good thing is outside seating so pet friendly

Honestly, this place sucks. I’ve lived in Tujunga for 8 years now and have watched it stay the exact same the entire time. It’s great that it’s a local business but that does not make up for how mediocre it is. The service is always terrible. You can go in for a coffee in the morning hoping to be in and out and there will be no one in line but one person behind the counter tells you to wait 10 minutes and your quick coffee is no longer quick. That would be forgivable if the coffee did not taste like Folgers and the smell of the place did not make you want to throw up. Always their staff feel incomplete and do not know how to multi task and take your order or be efficient. Smoothies are watery and the pastries are just gross. It’s unfortunate because it could be so good. I hope they figure it out and would welcome the opportunity to help them turn it around.
Not service animal friendly. I’ve been coming to this bakery for years and always found their pastries to be delicious and their fried egg sandwich to be generally pretty good. But the last few times I’ve been here I’ve been met with very rude energy and words towards me in my service dog. All we did was come to order and two different staff members made me feel very uncomfortable about her presence next to me as she quietly stood .They do not bring you water for your pets . They do not bring you biscuits as some of the other reviews have said. My friends tuna melt was not melted at all. Toasting the bread doesn’t count. We came in ordered and went outside but our food was clearly made in a rush as if we were very unwelcome. I’m disappointed in how this place has declined
Food was mediocre and small portions. My breakfast sandwich was smaller than a mcdonalds muffin sandwich. Wrap was small and pancakes were mediocre. We took a cinnamon roll and a croissant home. Total $80 with two coffees as well. $50 i would somewhat understand, but $80 way too unnecessary for this cafe. When Portos is cheaper than what you charge you have a problem.

I liked the place a lot, but I paid almost $40 for a Greek salad and 4 croissants, can you imagine? Yes, I know … maybe you tell me that I could have refused but I was shocked and I didn't. I know I won't come back again. There are beautiful, cozy places, with a very good menu and not so expensive in LA. They aren’t the only one.

Had some time to kill and saw this place and wanted to check out. Was patiently waiting to be helped when an older man skipped the line in front of me and was helped and no one recognized I was there first. I didn't bother to say anything and just left. I know my business probably won't make a difference but I'd rather take it elsewhere.
This place came up on my social media and was so excited to try took the 25 minute drive. We walked in and didn’t even get a hello, I will be with you in a moment, or anything he even turned his back on us and the place was pretty empty. In looking at the baked goods, they did not look fresh and over priced. Please know a welcome goes a very long way. We were ready to support this small business and spend some money but instead we walked out and spent $75 bucks at a place down the street. *** PLEASE AT LEAST LOOK AT WHO WALKS IN AND SAY HI. Especially when you’re not even doing anything for SHAME.
