**4.7/5 🌟🌟🌟🌟✨ Inaba Torrance: Quietly One of the South Bay’s Best Japanese Tables** Inaba in Torrance is the rare spot that earns its Michelin Bib Gourmand the old-fashioned way: flawless execution, zero attitude. Tucked in a sleepy strip mall, the understated room feels like a Tokyo neighborhood joint—soft jazz, warm wood, and a sushi case glowing like jewelry 🍣✨. The **sushi** is stupidly good: amberjack with yuzu zest, medium-fatty tuna that dissolves, golden-eyed snapper lightly torched—every piece perfectly seasoned and served at ideal temperature. The **katsudon** ($22) is a masterpiece: Berkshire pork loin fried to golden crunch, draped over sweet-savory egg and onions, sitting on fluffy Koshihikari rice. The **daily soup** (tonight kabocha potage) was silky and deeply comforting, while the **simmered vegetables** (lotus root, taro, carrots) arrived glistening in light dashi—simple, soul-soothing perfection 🥕🍲. Portions are generous yet refined, prices feel almost too fair (omakase starts at $80), and the staff treat you like a regular on day one. Only reason it’s not 5.0? I still haven’t tried the **tempura** (rumored to be feather-light) or the full **kaiseki** tasting—already booked for next month. Michelin usually chases flash, but here they actually got it right. Inaba isn’t loud, trendy, or Instagram-famous; it’s just quietly brilliant. Torrance’s hidden treasure. I’ll be working my way through the rest of the menu for the foreseeable future.

Chef Yasu made me miss Japan. This is by far the best sushi restaurant I have been to. The fish was excellent. Everything melted in your mouth. The service was fantastic. This is by far the best sushi in all of Los Angeles. What really made the night special were the "extras": Chef Yasu gave me and my partner red sake, in honor of our anniversary. His sense of humor made the entire room laugh. One particular dish used both a bowl and a cover, both of which had a striped pattern; Yasu would meticulously line them so that they would match. Our waitress would use some free time between our courses to talk to us about Japan and our experiences there. At the end of the night, both of them walked us out. It was like watching an artist work their craft; yet the atmosphere was casual, and we felt very at home. Thank you for making our night!

We ordered the Kaiseki dinner set and it was absolutely delicious. They serve a lot of food so make sure you have room! The fish is phenomenal and the noodles and tempura at the end are a big highlight. I can't wait to go back again soon!

This is an insanely delicious and affordable authentic Japanese restaurant for 1 Michelin star ⭐️ restaurant (as of 2024). Despite being in South Bay for almost my entire life, I can't believe I never stepped foot in here. Tucked away in a humble strip mall, Inaba is truly a hidden gem. The food will take your mouth on a journey and transport you to Japan. From their sashimi to tempura to sushi to soba and so much more, nothing here disappoints. Surprisingly for a Michelin starred establishment, we were able to walk in at lunch and be seated immediately with no reservation. We opted for the "Kaiseki Lunch". A full 8-course meal for only $85 per person (before tax + tip). Inaba is an absolute must if you're in the area looking for a mind blowing lunch.

Just had an amazing dinner here. Service and food were both top notch. Had a variety of tempura dishes plus zaru soba and a few applies, all were amazing. We also had the tsubaki dinner set. The mini chirashi was perfect with seven nice pieces of sashimi, along with some fried fish and cooked tuna both in great broths + some other small sides. Great experience all around.

We have come here a few times and each visit has been great. The food is always fresh and delicious. Highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time. Definitely try the soba! They make it in house and it’s so good! My absolute favorite is the Asari appetizer. The flavor was amazing!!!!

Wow, it's hard to find a good steak house. Here they're making a wonderful A5 Wagyu, best I've had so far. Get it medium well and enjoy. The sushi here was great as well. Recommended.

Always a pleasure to dine here. The staff is so attentive and always remembers what I ordered a few weeks before. Its Michelen star rated for a reason. Classic Japan-style sushi spot with soba and udon too.

Inaba Japanese Restaurant in Torrance was a delightful find for our daughter's birthday celebration. Despite not having a reservation, we were seated in the sushi bar area, and the friendly service made up for the minimal English spoken. The menu was easy to navigate, divided into sections like noodles, sushi, and lunch boxes. My wife enjoyed the cold udon noodles with tempura, a dish that transported us back to Tokyo with its chewy, delicious texture. I had the unagi eel rice, and the eel was perfectly grilled with a delectable sauce. Our daughter opted for the chef's luxury sushi lunch set, featuring premium-quality, ultra-fresh sushi. We also shared some sides, including fried chicken wings and fried tofu, both of which were excellent. Tucked away in an unassuming location, Inaba exceeded our expectations with its authentic flavors and fresh ingredients.

Good udon noodle soups here (perhaps needs little bit of mirin). Ordered tempura udon, nabeyaki udon, chicken karaage & unagi don (rice bowl. The udon came with inari sushis on the side.

Very quaint (6 seats, at most) with hyper personal service (they adjusted my wasabi vs. everyone else in every bite). The appetizers are inspired and I had a number of fish for the first time (and I eat a lot of good sushi). Bring your own saki (small charge) and parking is horrible in Manhattan Beach. Otherwise, an amazing experience with great personality!

My favorite hearty Japanese Udon / Soba / Tempura place in Torrance! Had tempura soba (hot) and marinated tuna bowl with plum sake and it was outstanding. Friends said cold soba was also really good, and agreed the tempura was impressive.

Showed up Saturday afternoon at 1 pm with a reservation, got seated immediately by lovely waitresses. They brought us hot green tea as default, which was very nice of them. I ordered the Kaiseki Lunch special that had everything that I wanted, starting with a salad, appetizer, sashimi, tempura, soba (or udon), some nigiris, and top it off with ice cream. Salad was a very standard sesame dressing, sashimi was not the best but the snapper was very good. The appetizer had mozuku, duck, and Miso infused cream cheese. Tempura veggies & squid & fish were cooked to perfection: crispy but very light on oil. Housemade soba had a very nice texture, broth was a flavorful bonito broth. Nigiris was the best, with tuna, snapper, yellowtail, scallop, uni. Very fresh and flavorful. Will be back for more!

This Michelin starred restaurant is definitely worth the visit. While I haven't tried the omakase, the jewel boxes and other box sets are amazing. The quality of sushi and the amount of food you get for the 85$ sushi bento box is pretty immaculate. The sushi chef is super nice and ran as a team/couple to make sure your experience is as pleasant as possible. I've done takeout on tock for the bento boxes. I've tried the negitoro bara chirashi, futomaki with kaisen boost, omakase nama chirashi and the mini seafood jewel. All were excellent and highly recommended.

This place is seriously under rated. I visit Japan every year to vacation and eat. Inaba is the closest thing to eating in Japan. I highly recommend their marinated tuna bowl, Chawanmushi, and tempura. Food is seriously authentic and delicious. If you are into great Japanese food, this is it.

This restaurant has some of the best sushi I’ve ever had. The quality is superb. The portions are moderate. The taste of the rice for sushi was perfect. I’ve come here many times and always get the sushi and I’m never disappointed. Tonight, I also tried the tempura. While the taste was good, and the product is fresh, the value for what you got was not so good I thought. So I don’t recommend the temporary, but I strongly recommend the sushi. I also tried some appetizers tonight like the nasumiso and kama shioyaki. They were both extremely good. Prices here are not cheap, but we are in a very high rental area and they have many people working to provide a high-quality product. So you get what you pay for.

Came here for a quick dinner with my friend since she wanted me to eat healthier and we were in the Torrance area. Been to the Inaba on Oahu and also Ichimiann in Torrance so when I ordered the Soba and Tempura set I was amazed at the small portion difference here compared to the other places. Sure the food and atmosphere is supposed to be higher end but I unfortunately found no value here.... Wanted to grab a burger after here but kept my mouth shut since shed get mad. 3 stars
