Best restaurant in Truckee. Great service, staff is super friendly and quick. Food is very good. I had the special salmon and arugula salad. My only feedback is cut the caesar salad. It's big leafs of romaine on a plate. More traditional but hard to eat.

You will take a bite of your own food and try to force feed it to your friends because it's so good. You'll think your dish is the best one at the table, and then they'll give you a bite of theirs and you'll realize that you're both right and wrong. Everything here is so damn good. You'll be mad at yourself that you haven't tried this place sooner.

My boyfriend and I sat at the bar and Ian and Sean were really upbeat and friendly. It felt very personalized and was a very good experience. Ian was super cool. I am very excited to come back!

Loved my time here. The staff was welcoming and super knowledgeable and the wine and food were amazing. A bit on the more expensive side but completely worth it.

Great experience. Staff was lovely. I didn’t like the wine by the glass but that’s not on them. It’s expensive but in a mountain town it makes sense. The quality of the food product felt farm to table. I was especially impressed with the Chicken Marsala. Although the pasta was a bit bland it was well cooked. Then came the deserts. The picture of the empty plate is all you need to know. Chocolate pistachio brownie with raspberry drizzle and caramel gelato. YUM vanilla bean crème brûlée for my buddy. We had a great time. Check it out if you can afford the night on the town.

Had a really good dinner here last tonight. Recommend the Marsala and the Ravioli. Those were two stand out dishes. The caprese salad was also excellent. We were not a fan of the bruschetta. When we are back in town we would definitely come back.

Great spot for a date night! Tried the Ravioli and the Olio Pasta, both were fantastic! Hard to pick a favorite because they are so different, but I recommend getting the Olio pasta with added sausage. Love that the pasta is made in house, you can really taste the difference. The service here is also great, thank you Katie for being so inviting!

We had such a fantastic experience at Pianeta! The cocktails were tasty, service was wonderful, the vibe was cozy and lively, and the food was delicious. We had the marinated olives, beef carpaccio, Caesar salad, pasta Bolognese, and tiramisu - all so good. Would love to go back.

Great spot for you… not so much for your phone! I love the ambiance and old world Italian vibe at Planeta! The pasta was wonderful, and caesar salad as well (although i would get light on the dressing next time!) No phone policy is something more restaurants should do, it is a great idea whose time has come in fine dining!

This place is awesome! A true gem. On the main strip in truckee, expereince home cooking vibes in a classy setting. Carlos & Ian served me at the bar. The staff make this a fun atmosphere while still maintaining a upper level class of service. Everything on the menu is made in house & you can tell. 10/10 reccomend.

We came back this year and everything was great. They have a special dessert not in the menu. It was delicious “Bittersweet chocolate expresso cake” ( see picture) The risotto it is a no brainer

I. MEAN. WOW! I took a group of clients here and it was FANTASTIC! It came highly recommended and they delivered. The food was delicious (Chicken Marsala!) and incredibly Instagrammable. The atmosphere is upscale casual in a lively setting. Next time I am in the area I will definitely return. (One note - it is lively, so with a bigger group, like most lively places, it may be hard to hear people at the end of the table).

Went to Truckee and stumbled upon this amazing gem. Some of the absolute BEST Italian food I’ve had in years. They had an amazing Sauvignon Blanc from France that was so good. The portions were VERY generous along with super stellar service. This place has a hidden hole in the wall feel but in reality it’s truly fine dining at its best. The atmosphere serves for a quiet intimidate dinner or a lively bar with a full menu available. I will be back here over & over for sure!

Ryan was the bartender and our waiter for the evening and what an absolute wonderful host. He started my using his creativity to make me a unique old-fashioned with mixed spirits in my case rum and rye with flavors through the roof!!! We then had the special Caesar Salad which was probably one of the best I have ever had. We then had the Aglio Olio with sausage and angel hair pasta which I am still thinking about. We had the Puddle Cake which is a chocolate desert made with polenta. The second night we had Pasta Bolognese, wine and Salted Caramel Gelato with another Puddle Cake. The service was excellent and the atmosphere relaxing. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Had the Caesar Salad with added anchovies, Dish of olives, Bruschetta, Pasta Bolognese, and the special Pork Osso Bucco. Would gladly eat any of those dishes again. Chocolate Panna Cotta was good, but was eclipsed by the fantastic Vanilla Gelato.

As soon as we walked in you could smell the beautiful aromas of italian cooking . We had not made a reservation so we had a 30minute wait but It Was Definitely worth the wait . The food was delicious, the best ravioli I have had ever tasted and I have dined in the best in London UK but this little Gem of a place beats them all hands down , from the attentive greeter at the front of house the minute we walked in ...to the Chef Smiley making our Wedding anniversary so special bringing out a chocolate dessert . We will definitely be returning to this place .

The chef even came out twice to check on us, which really showed the pride they take in the food. Speaking of the food, it was absolutely impeccable — every dish was delicious and beautifully prepared. The ambiance was warm and cozy. The only hiccup was some boorish guests seated near us, but the staff addressed it and handled the situation with professionalism, which we really appreciated. All in all, Pianeta exceeded our expectations, and we’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend!

Both were very good, but I wish there was a bit more sauce with the grilled prawns. For dessert, the tiramisu was amazing, but the portions are large, so I recommend sharing. There are plenty of drink options, too!

Best Italian food in Tahoe. You will likely want to make a reservation, even mid week. If you fail to you can usually get a spot at the bar. Regardless you will find nightly specials and proper drinks. I prefer to enjoy multiple courses and stay for at least 1.5 to 2 hours to get the full experience. My favorites are the ravioli, any dish with the sausage and the arugula salads. Don't overlook the appetizers and last but not least the wine list is impressive.

If you are looking for a fantastic meal for a special occasion this is the place! The ambience is great for a date or family gathering. The wine selection is extensive and the appetizers are very tasty. The staff is very cheery and the food well prepared. I suggest getting the veal meatballs.

For the price, food was just mediocre. I think the place has gone downhill since it first opened. Its surviving off the hype really. Service was good but atmosphere is very stuffy.

Pianeta has been our go-to dining destination in Truckee for a long time. We have been there at least seven times. We love the ambiance, the staff is friendly and overall, it used to be a pleasant experience. The quality of the experience went down, however, and I’ll give an example. Dinner for four; service much slower than usual. When my shrimp dish arrived, the plate was hot to touch and the pasta and shrimp were very dry. The cheese appetizer is microscopic, three tiny pieces of cheese with a few tiny slices of apple.. The desert (a sort of chocolate polenta lava cake) over-baked and the rather big grains of polenta felt hard in the mouth. Despite the slow service, the host came to let us know that the guests from the second service arrived, and we have to leave, shortly after we finished our desert. Overall, I respect what you’re doing, but it’s not worth the hefty bill.

Food is amazing, but the manager, (I think Peter?) Is awful and rude. He was yelling at his staff in-front of guests, and he was very incompetent at the host stand. Love the restaurant, but the manager is completely out of line. Basically yelling at everyone wanting a table, really awkward. Won’t return if he is there!
