Excellent Eating Experience for a quick stop n grab .. we were on our way to"Paint n Sip" .. I def will stop in again. I enjoyed the Brooklyn Sandwich Special it was super thick with a lot of meaty flavor! Pickles are just right/ flavorful, not to sour! Loved the decor 😍
Ive been craving a turkey sandwich and decided to finally give this place a try after everyone has told me to try it for months. I was not at all disappointed! The sandwich was great, honestly well worth the money, and the staff followed all of my special instructions and were quick to help. This was my first visit and its so much roomier and prettier on the inside than you'd expect. I'll definitely be back!
I had a cup of chili and a half of a Reuben sandwich. Food was delicious and generous portions. Above all customer service was top notch amazing. Walking across the street I was approached by a man asking for money, he kept telling me he was harmless and wouldn’t hurt me, I explained I don’t carry cash on me. I told the girl, Carly was her name that waited on me, she could see I was nervous and offered to walk me to my car, I gladly accepted. That is going above and beyond your job duties. Thank you Carly.
The 'Brooklyn Pickle' sub and/or sandwich are both phenomenal. The food is always fresh, both the bread and the everything in between. For sandwiches, there are many types of bread to choose from. The cheesecake in the cooler is probably in the top 3 in the valley. Good prices on everything
Used to go to the West side location in Syracuse all the time, so glad they opened up in Utica where I relocated!! Like having a slice of home away from home. Awesome service and the same great food!
Stopped in to see what the hype is about. It’s a sandwich shop, for those that don’t know. I went with the standard turkey, lettuce and tomato, BUT… they added hot pepper relish which gave it the kick I was looking for. What surprised me is they have beer on tap, so I washed it down with a UC. I figure, when in Rome, right? Tasty sandwich, cold beer, and an enormous facility. I never expected it to be this big on the inside.
I've been looking forward to this since the announcement that they were opening a new location in Utica, it didn't disappoint. Despite a large lunch crowd things still moved swiftly. The staff was awesome and friendly. The options are vast(though a list of bread/topping options on display would be helpful). Already looking forward to trying something new.
PROS - Atmosphere: sophisticated almost NYC-like. - Food: Delicious, fresh, authentic, plenty of Brooklyn-inspired choices. - Service: friendly and helpful staff. CONS - Pricey, prices are NYC-like. SUMMARY - A cool place to eat with friends but, be aware, it is a little pricey. Definitely a must visit!!!
Honestly I think they have the best subs/sandwiches in the area! But the crew has good days and bad days. I get a sandwich at least once a week from this place, and at least once a month something happens with my order or interaction with staff that annoys me. They're busy and generally friendly, therefore I let that shit slide.
Excellent food plenty of space for me and my wheelchair, the only issue I had was finding the entrance in the back, but somebody came out and help me get in, which was very nice of them. Seafood sandwich was excellent! And I will definitely come back again if I'm in utica.
Updated 4/9/25 So my boyfriend suggested Brooklyn pickle last night for a quick bit after work and being the closest place to use I gave this another try. The creamy tomato soup was very tasty a bit salty for me BUT I never use salt ao definitely try this because it still was so good I ate it all and was very full. He also bought me a sub and it looked Alot better then the first one. So not 5 stars but will give it a 4. Maybe I just came at a bad time or bad employee not sure. Place looks good but it is a complete rip off. As you will see in the picture the only thing "big" about the sub was the bread lettuce and price. I can get more meat at subway. I'm very disappointed by the misrepresentation
First trip here. Service was very fast. Only took a few minutes for 3 sandwiches to be made. All were really large, fresh and really good. Very open on the inside and lots of the buildings old character is still there, everything was very clean also. Only thing, the menu board is a little small to read with old people eyes. Maybe a duplicate one to see before you get into line to order or one posted somewhere would be nice.
Where's the beef. Large sub all bread. I put meat on one half. Mayo/horseradish is very bland. Make smaller subs or raise the prices.
"It's ok" is the Google equivalent of 3 stars, and that's my opinion...decent sandwich, but there's better in the area, IMHO. This review may seem a little harsh, but again, good sandwich, just nothing out of the ordinary, hence 3 stars. We had takeout tonight from BP and overall, it's a good sandwich. Decent bread, decent portion size, but I think it's just an average sandwich. You'd expect good bread for any sandwich, but there's really nothing to distinguish the sandwiches we ordered as anything special (we had turkey sub, tuna sub, the BP (corned beef/pastrami) sandwich, and the chicken salad sub). My brother said the chicken salad was "pretty good". The meats were not processed, which is very nice (i.e. NOT like Subway), but again, nothing really stood out. The tuna was reportedly "eh". Chunk light tuna, which may be a nitpick, but again, that's why it's nothing special for me. We also had the Neptune Stew, which was also decent, but the soup was loaded with pasta bits that made up more than 75% of the solids in the soup. More mushrooms than discernable seafood... maybe "Neptune" isn't the right name for it... Potato salad was good, macaroni salad was a little "dry". It was macaroni and mayo, and not really enough mayo for my taste. Very few veggies in there...a few carrot shreds. For me, it could have been better with some celery and onion... or at least more of it...I didn't see any. We also had a knish...again, decent... about the same as a legit NYC knish. My wife wolfed down the walnut brownie before I could get a bite, so there's that! Lol... So in the end there's nothing that would keep me from visiting again, decent sandwiches, good portions for fair prices. Just not sure if I'd go out of my way. Yet like I said, I truly think there's just as good/better in the area. Pumpernickel's in NH, for one...I try to write my reviews thinking, if someone asked me, "where can I get a really good..." in this case, "sandwich?" I'd probably mention BP, but not as a first choice. It will be big lunch spot, and I wish them well... especially with the new hospital coming along right down the road... they picked an excellent location. I'll be back at some point. Oh, and for a place with "Pickle" in their name, you only get 3 little pickle slices with your sandwich...struck me as a little ironic...they charge for pickles. I might be wrong, but it seems to me that many other places give you a pickle spear with your sandwich.
Have not been to Brooklyn pickle in Utica in ages. Had to have a procedure done at the hospital. Decided to get Brooklyn pickle. I was quite disappointed. The rules were hard. They don't use the same rules that they used to. The girl only asked us what kind of cheese and sub. Didn't ask us what wanted on it. We had to stop her from wrapping up the sub. So that we could get banana peppers and oil and vinegar. The girl who cashed us out ran our card and walked away. No thank you no nothing. I find that the original main Brooklyn pickle and Syracuse is the best Brooklyn pickle. I have to say it for $35 I was quite disappointed. There were two large roast beef subs and a cream cheese brownie. Honestly I don't know if I'll go back. Thank you kindly
The food was good. Ordered a half sub she made a whole sub. The other girls were distracting her so it didn’t get made exactly how I wanted, but wasn’t gonna make a big deal. I was up here from Oklahoma City seeing my elderly father in the hospital, Did not have time to spare just didn’t want to eat the hospital food, and if the pickle was supposed to come with it, I for sure did not get that at all and I love pickles.
Ordered for pick up for the first time last night. We order a chef salad, half turkey sub, Mac and cheese and bazooka Pete sandwich. None of which was edible. Except the salad. BUT the “chef salad” was lettuce and some sliced cucumbers, no meat no cheese nothing! My half sub I ordered which was the turkey the only thing good I can say was the lunch meat was edible. The bread was so thick and dry crusty was like trying to eat cardboard. Not much meat on it either. The bazooka Pete was supposed to have half kraut and had none and my husband could not eat it not because of the missing item it just wasn’t edible. The Mac and cheese was for my 7 year old. Oil was pooled in the bottom and the noodles so over cooked they weee pasty and clumpy. And the favor was just all around not good. That’s pretty bad when my 7 year old took one bite and wouldn’t finish it.
With our prepared sandwiches sitting in front of us we were left sitting and waiting to pay. One cashier forced all parties to just sit and wait while she was on the phone the entire time. After asking if there was any way we can just please have someone else take our payment and told to just keep waiting, we left and found a delicious lunch elsewhere.
