The food is great here, i ordered Ravioli Al Ragú, its a pasta packed with vegetables and meat, in a tomato sauce, it was fantastic, i even ordered focaccia plain bread to finish the excess sauce left on the plate, the waiters were really nice, one even offered us tiramisu, and the climate was really nice, a cozy restaurant not usually packed with customers, i think its underrated by many people
Wonderful place! We had passed this place in the morning and it was full of people, so we had to come back later for dinner! There is a small shop downstairs and a bigger sitting area on the second floor. We were there before closing and off-season, but maybe it’s better to book a table beforehand. About the food: We had Vitello Tonnato, Pasta with pesto and another pasta with meat ragu. Everything was really good! Very nicely seasoned, pasta was homemade and chewy. The basil lemon drink was a bit too strong for my liking, but it still tasted really fresh and good:)
I asked an hour in advance if we can just come in an hour again and the waitress reserved us a table! Incredibly friendly (young lady with not so short brown hair). We would recommend getting there from 5-5:30. After that, it was full and we saw people struggle/wait for seating. Now, regarding the food, the pasta was amazing. I am someone who always said I do not like italian food & I will definitely be missing this pesto genovese in Germany. Both dishes were incredibly good. The other dish is cacio & pepe pasta, I almost regretted not getting it. Contrary to the review below, it is my opinion that the dish is impeccable. In total we paid 44€ for: 2 courses, 2 drinks, 1 water, 1 cake, and one espresso. overall 10/10
Casio and Pepe Genova is a must go for any tourist looking for Italian food. It's not a fancy restaurant and not a lot of seating. We did not have a reservation but still got a table outside. Capresse salad was good and basic. Excellent creme Brule, also Tiramasu cake was also well prepared. This eatery gets high marks for offering high-quality food for a reasonable price. Excellent value. In the summary rating, I consider food quality, presentation, service, atmosphere, and overall value for money.
100% recommend. The building appears unassuming and quaint from the street however, upon entering you can see you’re about to experience something magical. Our servers were patient and kind. The food is immaculate, very fresh ingredients and you can tell it is a labor of love. There is a good variety of options, especially if you’re vegetarian. The chef, Alberto, also teaches a private cooking class which we took (and would also recommend!) I hope to be back in Genoa so I may come again!
When a restaurant is packed while others are hustling for customers, that tells you something. After getting turned away one evening, we made a point to make reservations for the next time. Our family was glad we did. All of us ordered traditional dishes and each one was fantastic. So good, we ate the leftovers the next day. As pictured, we went with spaghetti and ravioli and a great wine. This is definitely for us a 'go to' for a great meal.

This place has the best pesto I have ever had in Genova and I lived here for nine years. It's in centro storico and It can be tough to find seating at lunchtime.

I've been here several times and the food is outstanding. The pasta with pesto is amazing. I will keep going back. The seating is tight so one must be patient.
Fantastic food, really fresh with delicious flavour. Lovely location, small premises with huge character and really friendly, accommodating staff. Well worth a visit
We had a reservation and where placed on some uncomfortable table in a corner even though better tables were free, waitresses were running around hecticly but weren’t getting the job done fast. lasagne with pesto was great, Focaccia al formaggio good but not the best. The octopus we waited for for ever and were just about to leave - it arrived and was disappointing, it tasted like it was frozen and not fresh I wouldn’t go there again
I was looking for place with authentic food not that far from the train station and I found it. The focaccia with cheese was my order and it was very tasty. I would go back to try the pasta with pesto since I was eating alone and couldn’t get a lot of food. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. I went to eat around 6 which is very early for Italians the tables in the first floor were all full.
This is an honest review, After checking the ratings on Google Maps, we decided to stop here for lunch. We ordered a pesto pasta and, of course, a cacio e pepe — given that the restaurant is named after it. The pesto was genuinely one of the best I’ve ever had; full of flavour, fresh, and rich. I’m glad to see other reviews also praising it, because it truly deserves the hype. However, the cacio e pepe was a letdown. We were warned that it was “saporito” (flavourful), but I didn’t expect it to be overwhelmingly salty. The presentation was nice, but the taste… left me speechless, and not in a good way. I’m not sure if this was a one-off, but it completely threw off my expectations of such a simple classic dish. Saying it was salty is an understatement. That said, the service was IMPECCABLE. The lady with short hair was extremely polite, attentive, and professional, a real standout. If it weren’t for her and the rest of the team, this would have been a lower-rated experience. Overall: • Pesto: Outstanding • Cacio e pepe: Disappointing • Service: Flawless Hence, 3 stars. If you’re going for the cacio e pepe, maybe ask them to go easy on the salt.
