White Dog Cafe - Wayne

Very cute classy option with a local, special feel. Far exceeds the chain options nearby.

We met old friends at White Dog. We were seated in the most beautiful windowed room by the patio. Our server was attentive. We appreciated the smoked salted watermelon that was brought over for us to try (yum!) and then ordered the ricotta and strawberry dip, cheese curds, and short ribs as appetizers. They were all so so good, but I could have made a meal out of the short ribs. I ordered the salmon- that came perfectly cooked with corn, snap peas and potatoes. My husband ordered the scallop/shrimp pasta and they were both excellent. The portion size was good and we were able to bring some home for dinner another day. We had one of our best meals in quite some time and we will be back!

We had such a lovely meal at White Dog cafe! Because my friends and I were celebrating a special occasion, our server brought us complimentary champagne to start us off, which was such a thoughtful gesture. We then ordered the watermelon martini, spicy watermelon margarita, and a couple of beers, which were all delicious. As for the food, we started with the Hawaiian rolls and mushroom soup, which is quite honestly one of the best soups I’ve ever had. It was so rich and delicious! We also ordered the salmon entree, the bucatini with veggies and burrata, as well as two of the corned beef specials. I LOVED my husband’s corned beef, which was so delicate and flavorful. I also really enjoyed my bucatini, though it was somewhat lacking in salt/seasoning. Overall, we had a very enjoyable meal in a beautifully decorated restaurant. We’ll definitely be back!

We had a fantastic dinner here! Our server Deja took great care of us with great recommendations and attentive service all night. The food and ambiance were so good, we ended up staying there for hours to eat many many courses.

We had such a great time having our rehearsal dinner here! The food and drinks were delicious and the service was fantastic. Everyone was great to work with and the ambiance was perfect! 10/10 recommend!

We've only eaten at the bar during happy hour. That said the food and service are great. The ambiance is amazing. Don't be fooled by the "strip mall" like location. Inside is as fine and refined as the finest steakhouses in NY or LA!

Dont let the outside fool you. I looks like an office building but once you walk in and see the ornate wood panels and "white dog" decor you are transformed. The menu is amazing. Whether for brunch or other the food does not disappoint. No matter what you choose you will be left thinking when are coming back. My favorites are the mini donuts and the double cheddar burger.

Despite the cold and unfeeling hostess who didn't greet us at all, the rest of our dining experience was great. Our wait person was Caroline who was friendly, warm, and kind. The food presentation, quality, and quantity were excellent. We dined here for brunch at 1230 on a Saturday. Tip: Be sure when making a reservation if you plan on patio dining to specify this otherwise there's a long wait. Just overlook the negativity and cold hospitality at the lobby because once you're in, it's happy happy joy joy!

Had a great time at White Dog cafe in Wayne. The interior has cool pictures of dogs everywhere and the covered outdoor seating is nice and comfortable even though it's positioned directly on rt 30. The service was very attentive. With a reservation I was seated a few minutes after arriving. As far as the food, the fried chicken and waffle with gravy was great, the mushroom omelette was delicious with truly caramelized onions inside. Unfortunately the garlic hummus wasn't the best. It was dry and not blended well. The crackers and pita that accomplished the hummus was great though.

Though I once worked at and frequented White Dog Wayne, I hadn't visited in just over a year. I was in the area and had a craving for a big meaty cheeseburger so I went by to bring a couple home for dinner tonight. The burger itself was wonderful as usual. Cooked just right and the smoked bacon mayo was all it needed to be a filling and fantastic messy meal! (You just cannot stay neat with the Brioche Bun but it's worth the mess!) While the burger was great, I was immensely disappointed in the other half of the meal. At some point in the past year they must have switched from the Fresh, Hand Cut, crispy and delicious Truffle Parmesan fries which made the location a destination all on their own. I opened up the bag and found a pile of poorly fried, mealy tasting, bland McDonalds style fries that sure seem to have been frozen a few hours ago. Parmesan fresh and shredded was completely gone. Even drowning them in the divine spicy mayo couldn't salvage them to even be considered "meh". If this type of sacrificing quality and cutting corners is representative of the rest of the menu then I certainly won't be visiting for a real full course dinner and drinks. At $60 for 2 burgers and fries (with tip), it's sadly not a terrible price for QUALITY but the fries weren't even fast food level of quality and it dragged down the enjoyment of the meal overall. I guess everything comes back to mediocrity eventually and based on that meal, the White Dog Cafe is joining the ranks of over priced places coasting on reputation. If I happen to swing by again, I hope I can be proven wrong.
