We chose to come here for our anniversary as we had had such a lovely time for my birthday back in January, so happy we did!! The atmosphere was so lovely, cosy and warm on a very autumnal day. Service was beautiful, all the staff were incredibly warm, polite, professional and attentive. The food was amazing! As a vegetarian it’s really hard to find somewhere that really makes an effort to make vegetarian food a little bit special and sophisticated. We were also given a really special little sweet treat to celebrate! Thank you!

Thank you for a delicious lunch and and the delightful Amy for her very helpful and friendly service. Starters, main course and wine very tasty and couldn't eat more despite the desserts looking very appealing. Will go back for more 😋

Update: 4th June. Went for lunch. They had a special jubilee menu of British seafood and sparkling wine. Amazing! Fantastic food and charming service as ever. Went for Sunday lunch, food was amazing as ever. Thank you to James and Dominica who looked after us. We had a lovely time.

We ordered the cook-at-home Wellington Box for fathers' day and were blown away. The quality of the food was exceptional and the cooking instructions were clear and simple. It was fantastic value for a very special meal for four adults.

Great selection of cocktails, wines and beers. Cozy seating. Friendly and attentive staff. Sunday roast - beef that melts in the mouth. Fish n chips - top notch. Yorkshire pudding made fresh. Carrots in a sweet sauce - mouth watering. 10/10 recommend.

Best roast ever, crispy roast potatoes, huge Yorkshire pudding and tasty sweet carrots, meat melted in the mouth. All but the meat unlimited, great sticky toffee pudding and strawberry cheesecake. Staff polite and helpful can't wait to go back

My husband and I stopped by to have lunch yesterday. It was his first time. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, and we all enjoyed a glass of Prosecco alongside our lunch. The cost was astonishingly reasonable. They have recently introduced an entirely new menu. The chicken was amazing. Additionally, the ham hock was delicious and delightful, although I couldn't consume the entire dish. Without a doubt, we will return and enthusiastically recommend it.Five-star rating!

I really love this place. The atmosphere is cozy, all staffs are so nice and kind, they are always smiling and foods are awesome! Their menus are amazingly creative. I try ox tongue as a starter and rabbit leg as a main dish. I promise to be a regular customer. I am willing to recommend this restaurant to my friends. 🤗

We had a fabulous lunch here yesterday! The food and the actual pub was really excellent but what stood out was the service. Our young server, Sam, was super friendly and also very helpful! We will definitely be back! We came back today and were served by the charming Dominika and her team. As before the service was amazingly upbeat and friendly!! The food was just as good too

Myself and my partner came here after a day out at RHS Wisley and safe to say we are glad we picked this pub! First visit and received the warmest welcome from Dominika! Followed by the most beautiful meal. Lara our server couldn’t do enough along with the lovely team. Will definitely be coming back!

Birthday meal with the hubby, asparagus, goats cheese and quail egg tart! All the flavours in a beautiful thin crust. The Cornish plaice was stunning, sweet, tasty and a good size portion and OMG the chocolate mousse was amazing. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable and very apologetic that they didn’t have port glasses for the excellent LBV we had after dinner. Marina you were great!

Absolutely fantastic, from the food to the staff. A truly lovely menu, great to see such a variety of game on offer. This is a place where the staff really care, a real credit to the pub. A hidden Gem in Surrey, I will most certainly be coming back!

My mother and I found this restaurant by accident after a traffic diversion took us past, and I was starving after a long day at work. It was an absolute delight. The food was wonderful! Best fish and chips I’ve ever had! the ambience welcoming and comfortable and the service fantastic- friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. We were only stopping for a quick bite, but had a really lovely time there. I fully recommend visiting and will certainly be back soon. From Frank

My boyfriend and I visited for Sunday lunch, to celebrate our anniversary. As soon as we arrived, the staff were incredibly welcoming and got us sat down straight away, with very little wait to order our food and drinks. The roast was absolutely delicious and I was particularly impressed by the portion sizes, with bottomless sides being served (which were all delicious!). I felt I was absolutely getting my moneys worth and the staff were frequently checking that we were satisfied with our meal. After we’d eaten, we got given a free brownie as a little anniversary ‘gift’ which was particularly lovely😊overall a thoroughly pleasant experience with lovely staff, a warm atmosphere and divine food! Highly recommended.

My son took me here for a Sunday roast meal and it was delightful from beginning to end. A warm welcome, friendly staff and the food was superb. They very kindly altered my meal to my preference with no fuss. I had the chicken, my son the pork, both well cooked + very flavoursome, the cauliflower cheese side was the tastiest I've had, the delicious tiramisu excellent. Thanks to everyone involved.

Came into the pub after a long day, was warmly welcomed by Alan on the bar, Izzy and Dominika provided a great dinner service. The roast chicken sandwhich was amazing. Would definitely come back.

Enjoyed our first trip to the Drumming Snipe. Great food at reasonable prices with amazing service. We were looking for great fish & chips and weren't disappointed - nicely battered (not too light - not too thick) and perfectly fried, crispy and golden on the outside with nice flakiness of the fish inside with a cup of triple cooked chips. Perfectly matched with pint of Guinness! Food is just part of the overall picture though - great service from Morgan, which made the evening enjoyable and memorable. Just don't ask her to pick a favourite as she has many recommendations ! We will definitely be back.

My absolute favourite pub! The most delicious food, especially the roast beef on Sunday, the best roast dinner I’ve ever had! Yummy cocktails, great event nights and very lovely staff, especially Anna who is my favourite! Friendly, hard working and always makes you feel welcome!! A must go to pub! 5 STARS ALL ROUND ⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️

First time in here, got an instant, enthusiastic and very genuine welcome from the Polish lady whom I assume is the manager. Good interactions with other staff too. Lovely place, will be back

I go to the Drumming Snipe in Mayford for drinks with friends and sometimes food, and it’s always a great experience. The atmosphere is welcoming, the service is quick, and the food and drinks are spot on. A special mention to Dominica, the manageress – she’s always professional, super efficient and genuinely happy, which makes every visit even better.

Met our son & his Fiancé here for lunch today, never been here before. Very nice clean and good atmosphere could not fault the food either. Staff very friendly but service was a little slow, however we were not in any rush and there were only three people serving tables. This isn't a negative for us but if you have a tendency to be impatient then be polite 😉. Free carparking adjacent to the pub but limited spaces so if going for lunch/evening meal get there in good time. We were only visiting Woking for the day and our son and his Fiancé travelled from London to spend a bit of quality time with us. We had mains and desert drinks with our meal in a very relaxed, welcoming and clean pub. The toilets also very clean. Would we go here again? Yes definitely and if you're in the area I would highly recommend this pub 👍

We recently had a party of 9 for dinner and I wanted to write to say what a great evening we had. The food was excellent, great ambience and the service was superb. A massive thank you to Alex who really looked after us and who made our daughter feel very special on her 18th birthday. Thank you.

Went to the drumming snipe yesterday for late lunch. From the moment we arrived we felt welcome. The staff and especially the manager were lovely. We were given a great table and the food and drink was lovely and the mousse my wife especially loved. We could see a lot of people who came were regulars and we hope to go back again very soon. Thanks again for a lovely afternoon.

We had a lovely roast dinner here as a group of 14 for my partners birthday meal. Amazing roast, fantastic service and the staff / chefs did extremely well to get everything out all at the same time. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a Sunday roast at a lovely pub!

Such a comfortable and welcoming pub! So good we stayed to eat. An amazing cheeseburger. Rivals the renowned Smiths of Burton-on-water for a burger. Friendly service from everyone. Top marks!

We enjoyed an excellent Sunday roast at the Drumming Snipe. The food was really delicious and everyone was really attentive, especially good service from Jay. It was great to have the option for bottomless roasties! As they were very moorish and lots of great starter, pudding and wine options too. Can’t wait to visit again.

We came yesterday for a family meal plus 2 babies and a dog. The staff were absolutely amazing! Nothing was too much trouble, they preempted every request, providing water and biscuits for the dog, a great suggestion when I wanted an alcohol free alternative and a great service to the table. All of the staff were happy friendly and efficient. The food was all fantastic- and the whole party really enjoyed our experience, thank you to you all

Birthday lunch. Had an absolutely fabulous meal, all the starters and mains were excellent. The Beef Brisket & Bone marrow pie was incredible, the Cod cheeks and risotto were also stand outs. Beautiful pub and the staff were brilliant, really friendly and attentive. Also, they knew the menu inside out (sadly, usually a rare thing) answering our questions about the dishes with genuine knowledge. We will definitely be back, would highly recommend a visit.

I've been here twice now. Both times were very pleasant. Nice food and great service. They have served me one the of the best cocktails (and the worst) and overcharged me on one occasion by £70 and I'm still not complaining. I urge people to try the Drumming Snipe on a nice day. Get a seat under their canopy in the garden and take your time as it's not one to rush. The oysters are decent and fresh. The mussels are full of flavor. The chicken is cooked perfectly. Shepherds pie was to die for. All the food I've eaten here has been fantastic and I'm betting their steak is going to be really good judging by the menu. My favorite cocktail here I think is called the hennessy sour. Realllly tasty drink. I would absolutely avoid the English julip. It has to be the worst cocktail I've ever had. It's like a cup of mouldy water with mint on top...no offense to the maker. Big thanks to Toby the bar keep who was extremely polite and very friendly.

We were a large group of all age ranges and the did us well. Food was good, service was patient (lots of people with different demands). We tried all the roasts; beef was the weakest, but still tasty. The double chuck burger was excellent. Recommended.

Went with the family early on Sunday evening to try their bottomless roasts. Roasts were delicious and service was great but due to kitchen issues the trimmings were not bottomless much to our teen’s disappointment. All credit to them, they were very apologetic and offered us our bottle of wine on the other which really impressed me. And then we tried puddings which were heavenly, especially recommend the orange panacotta and chocolate mousse. Turns out I’m actually very glad the roasts weren’t bottomless. I’m sure we’ll be back….!

Overall Comments Nice venue, pretty friendly staff, and decent quality food just very small portions. Overall a pretty good experience and would definitely stop in again for a drink but not necessarily to plan as a dinner venue. 3. 5 out 5 stars. Venue: 4/5  |  Service: 3/5  |  Food: 3/5  |  Location: 3/5  |  Cost: £££ Venue & Atmosphere: 4/5 Really nice warm feeling pub, quiet cosy place, good setup with nice areas for sitting, games, drinking and dining. Clean and tidy presentation and very snuggly in the winter season! Service: 3/5 Friendly staff to talk to but not a particularly high focus on service. We had to find dinner seating ourselves somewhere in the pub (we settled on the games room area), we also had to get cutlery and menu's ourselves as well as go to the bar to order rather than having attended service. Food & Drink: 3/5 One starter to share and two mains. The quality of food was quite good and the gnocchi in particular was very tasty but the portion was quite small and we were both quite hungry still after the meal. It was a little dissapointing as it would have been good to have slightly more food as it was fine on the taste front but there just wasn't enough in in our view. Location & Travel: 3/5 Just off the main road so easy to find and not too noisy. Have quite good parking available in their own car park opposite the pub. Very suitable for local residents but not too near any other amenities, around 20 mins walk from Worplesdon Station. Cost: £ - ££££ ££ - Pretty good. Not overly expensive however for the food portion sizes it felt it a little, but only for this reason. Overall it wasn't expensive but we didn't feel there was a sense of value for the money spent.

I've had 2 experiences here. One was a Sunday roast where everything was perfect and I'll share the photos of this. The other experience was during a lunchtime in the week and let's say I was running to the toilet at the end. So all things considered, I'd say the food and experience is down to the day and timing. When its great it's great and vice versa, but the staff are always friendly and kind.

I visited this venue on Valentine's evening with my girlfriend to celebrate this special occasion. The environment was very cosy, and the live music created a pleasant atmosphere. However, there were some aspects that left us dissatisfied. I had booked a table near the fireplace, but when we arrived, we were informed that the fireplaces were not lit. The venue was very cold, and eating in the cold is not pleasant at all. As for the food, the starters were quite good; we had a portion of monkfish and one of prawns. However, the main courses were really disappointing. My girlfriend ordered the sea bass, which came in very small portions and of mediocre quality. I ordered a cauliflower risotto, but it was overcooked and tasteless. I recommend paying more attention to the quality of the food and ensuring that the venue is well heated, as eating in the cold is an unpleasant experience.

So let’s start with the positives! Service was good but a bit slow. The oysters were great and was really good to see them on the menu. Starters and mains only ok though. Monkfish crumpet starter tasted smoked but that wasn’t mentioned in the menu. Also the crumpet was cold. Smoked is obviously an acquired taste and we aren’t keen! The whitebait were over cooked. Roast pork mains were nice but came with only a very small piece of crackling which had been sprinkled over the roast which was very odd and no parsnips. You’ve got to have parsnips with a roast! Roast pork should have a nice layer of crackling actually on the meat ideally. Also, they ran out of one of the most popular white wines - Pinot Grigio! Would come again but some improvement is needed on a few things.

V
Valerie Smith

Had a roast today which tasted delicious but we were very disappointed with how long we had to wait for the potatoes and vegetables after getting the plate with meat and yorkshire. I feel the timing was bad due to it being too busy to deal with the number of orders. Hopefully have better service on my next visit in December.

J
Jan Baynham

The heating wasn’t on last night the staff could do nothing about it. The service was poor. It took a long time for a table of nine to get all the mains served together. Mains and sides arrived at different times meaning that meals were getting cold. It is not the first time I have been in the Drumming Snipe and been cold. The central heating system needs a major overhaul. The pipes feeding the radiators weren't even getting warm. The garlic mash side was runny and watery. The menu side option of lettuce was inappropriate for a winter menu There is a lot of room for improvement at the Drumming snipe. I definitely won't be going back.

D
David Torres

We had a two hour sitting from 1-3pm for a party of 4 - 2 adults, 1 3y child and a 1y baby. By 2.40pm we were asked for the table despite the fact that we had already paid the bill and were just finishing our glass of wine. After that we were asked again TWICE by the manager to release the table. Totally inappropriate! As if a 3y old and a baby will endure a 2h meal. I would have (and should have with the benefit of hindsight) taken the service charge off had I not already paid. The experience was awful. A nice meal turned into the worst Sunday roast by amateurs running the restaurant. Food was standard as even as they offer bottomless sides the roast beef portions was small and the roast chicken looked more like a quail. Not coming ever again. Do not recommend.
