Unique beers and delicious food. The friendly staff made the evening delightful. Thank you Austin for your recommendations.
We asked the manager to turn down the volume on the speaker near our table and he complied immediately... Great beer clean industrial atmosphere.
I travel for work and make it to A LOT of breweries but this one ranks as one of the best with a great tasting beer selection and was fortunate enough to meet one of the generous partial owners!
John was awesome! Had some great beer recommendations and whipped together a delicious sandwich! Thank you!
Reopen now with a food menu. Great tasting, award winning beers!
Had an amazing 1st experience From the brews, to the food and the staff!! Would definitely recommend!! Will definitely be back!!
Extremely friendly, perfect pours, clean taps but most of all, excellent beer. Try the Henry IPA
Great beer. Loved the Blond Ale. Great taste, not bitter. Full bodied, not like a light beer
Really enjoyed this brewery, they were very kind to our kids, too, which really meant a lot! Great beers, good food!
I was in for the weekend. Great staff. Great brews. Highly recommend coming through to try a few beers at very reasonable prices.
Great beer. Great vibe. There’s a little kids play area in the corner which is awesome and allowing me to post this review while I enjoy a beer in peace.
We enjoyed a flight on the way to a show at the Akron Civic Theatre. Our favorite was the Trippin’ Amber Biere de Mars. They have plenty of brews to choose from ranging from light to dark. The service was efficient and friendly.
Varied list of local brews, all very good. Crave across the street if you're hungry. Great service w/ plenty of staff to keep the beers flowing
Love the space of the bar, really cool looking right on a corner. I can see why it was rated so highly for breweries in NE Ohio. Definitely going to be a frequent customer.
I love how conveniently located this brewery is to multiple places in downtown Akron. My husband and I really enjoy coming here!! Can’t wait to check out the beer garden in the spring!!
Constantly excellent. I love the beers, but I'm most impressed with the crew there. They are all about local people and caring for the AK Rowdy
Went for a work lunch, so no drinks, but the guys working were very nice. The food though…..soo good. They don’t offer a lot of food but what they do offer is really good.
Donna was the best waitress/ person that we have ever known. So polite. So helpful. We Will never back! Kimberly Kyle (soon to be Colosky) and Zackary Colosky! ❤️💚🌎
Great brewery! Excellent service with a nice broad selection of beers on tap. Outdoor seating area is very nice
Stopped here for a brew and grub before hitting the road and thoroughly enjoyed the Hefeweizen and the turkey bacon sandwich. Really cool vibe too
Busy corner but a great stop for a quick beer or to just chill for a while. Street parking or a parking garage attached to the bar.
Cool place! Beer was good and the $6 happy hour margarita was a plus!
Outstanding service with a beer!
Lots of choices, even for those who don't drink beer, and now reasonably priced food too! Love the atmosphere here.
Really enjoy the beers here. Always worth the trip. Great people
Super accommodating of our doggo and toddler on the patio and very friendly. Thank you:)
Never been there personally but had a tasting of their beer at The Rail in Canton and it’s pretty good!
First time there and really liked it. Went there on a warm summer night and they had the patio open and overhead garage door open. Made you feel like you were part of downtown. And oh yeah.....the beer was really good. There wasn't one that I didn't like. The cherry wheat was really good. This place is worth checking out.
Great atmosphere and location. We went with friends and we all have children ages newborn-10years old the fact that they had a secluded area with toys and children's table for them was a HUGE reason we will all be back. The kids were very easily contained while we enjoyed each other's company and could keep a close eye. Beer was good too, we liked the "Test batch." They don't serve food, however, we were able to order wings and pizza to have it delivered right to our table (bring paper plates or have them bring them if you're ordering out..we forgot!). Employees behind the bar are very friendly and helpful, and kept up with snacks for kiddos as the night went on. Only negative feed back: It was trivia night (which was fun!), the guy running it was set up in the corner near play area, people coming up to turn in their answers were very understanding, however, he was a complete idiot when addressing us to help make a clear path. I he could have simply told the adults to walk up to his other side avoiding the play area all together, but he seemed set in his ways. His attitude was not appreciated.
Really really great beers, and the vibe is awesome as I love the semi-open brewery/bar layout. The people behind bar were super friendly and helpful as well! I loved their IPAs particularly as I’m not usually much of an IPA person (the Henry NEIPA and the Proving Ground #6 NEIPA specifically were great). My absolute favorite thing from them was The Daily Grind Cream Ale which used coffee from Akron Coffee Roasters (located about a block away), it’s light, smooth, and utterly delicious. Their cocktails and snack selection are dope as well! Go try their stuff!
Amazing stouts! They said that this batch had been hurried, which makes me all the more excited for my next visit! Absolutely gorgeous storefront with plenty of seating, with an interesting view of E. Market St traffic.
Was incredibly impressed by the beer, staff, and atmosphere at Akronym. After hitting 6 different breweries over the course of the weekend, this rose to the top as our favorite. Great variety of beers, true to style, knowledgable and friendly staff. Can't wait to come back!
Everyone! This place is awesome. Beer is great and pub food to go with. But let me really point out their Akron generosity. Without going into the details, they went way above and beyond to support a local charity event helping in the cause against local addiction and OD. left with jaw dropped. Will be my go to on future outings with buddies for sure! Shout out to Liz (I believe, if I got name right).
We threw a surprise party at Akronnym and it went great! We were able to bring in our own food and grabbed drinks from the bar. Service was swift and friendly and the atmosphere was upbeat. The beer is great too. Highly recommend!
I just had my husband's birthday surprise there. They were so accommodating. We were able to bring in food/cake which was so nice. I worked with Alyssa who went above and beyond for us! I highly recommend Akronym, not just for the beer, but for any fun event!
First time here, and I greatly enjoyed the beer and environment! Zach helped us and was very nice and knowledgeable. My favorite drafts were the Anything But Corona and Kernal of Truth.
Really good staff and fantastic beers. They had beers of every variety. I'm a stout drinker, and their stouts were awesome. Really cool place.
Great beer and staff. Good selection of beers on draft, including some outstanding lagers. Parking can be a bit of a pain downtown. Must stop if you're in the area.
I’m a little upset at them… my wife and I went to the Medina location last night. I had the Short Rib Dip… I haven’t thought of anything since! Planning a return trip next week to get the same thing. Actually may sneak out on the family tomorrow to get it again. Maybe I’ll move closer so I can get it everday… nobody warned me how addicting that sandwich could be…
So many beers, so little time. They have a great variety of beers to choose from, and games to play while you hang out. Parking is very convenient in the attached parking garage, which can be a big deal when you're downtown.
Stumbled in after Art Museum, hostess / bartender was a big help putting together flights. And the all-day breakfast sandwiches made in a bachelor's-first-apartment-sized kitchen were outstanding.
Fantastic spot. Good beer and great location. While, admittedly, I wish they served food they do allow you to bring in take out. Even that withstanding I definitely prefer this spot out of all the spots like it in Akron.
Love this spot! Two great bartenders who were friendly. Great brunch menu and craft beers. Want to come back next time I’m in town!
We always have a great experience at Akronym. The beer is spot on, the food is so unique and amazing and the service is great. We especially love coming here on sunny days and sitting on the patio with our dog.
Great place. Really friendly, dog friendly as well. We moved away to Denver CO but this was one of our favorite spots. We were super bummed when we couldn’t get tickets to the beer festival they had last year
THE best brewery to go to, only one I give my business to. The atmosphere is so lovely and their food is amazingggg! Shout out to all the employees, they are the besttt!
Really good beer and friendly staff! Just be aware they only have appetizers and small plates on the food menu.
The beer is always great. The Cuban sandwich was incredible… except… if I may be so bold… the yellow mustard is traditional, but the option of spice, honey mustard, any other would have made it the best sandwich in the tri-county area. Thank you!
This spot is definitely worth a visit next time you're in Akron! I came here on a Saturday evening for a birthday party and had a great time. The vibe is fun and relaxed, and everything I expect and want from a brewery. The beer was delicious (special shout out for the into the wood sour, YUM!). And for the not beer fans, there is an excellent cocktail selection. Especially impressive because good cocktail menus aren't brewery staples. Big thanks to Austin and John for being excellent bartenders for the night. And Austin for helping set up the reserved party space. Thank you!!
We came here for the trivia tonight and was really nice. Great beers and great atmosphere! Would like more foods to choose from as it all looked tasty but I'm trying to eat lower carb, no fault of theirs and it's a brewery 😊 Will definitely be back as everyone loved it here and had fun!
We arrived at Akronym Brewing before our movie at the Nightlight Cinema just a block away. It was a perfect, sunny Spring evening so all the doors and walls were open to the good weather and the customers ranged from folks in their twenties in casual attire to a few folks dressed nicely after an event at the neighboring Akron Art Museum. The patio had the bar had comfortable seating and there was a giant Connect Four game you could play as you sipped. The bartender was attentive and friendly and the HENRY IPA 6% — an award winner from 2019 and 2020 was delicious. The food that was cooking smelled great, but we had to get to our movie. I definitely plan to return to try more of the beers and the appetizers before my next movie.
Their beer is excellent. They obviously take care to ensure they follow recipes and their equipment is sanitized properly. Their beers are creative and unique and the servers are very pleasant. They allow dogs on the patio so we brought our puppy. They were very accommodating and even had dog bowls.
Had a drink here while waiting for a pizza at another local place. I met the manager/ bartender Austin. He is definitely the right face for the location . His demeanor and his great attitude and love for the business is spoken and shown in his words and actions. I will definitely be spending more time here as 8 just moved into the area
My wife's son brought me (Huntington, WV) a Crowler of Proving Ground (10th session) for a Christmas present. Best IPA I've tasted. I lived in Washington State for 13 years and I've tasted IPA's all over the Northwest. Professing this is the best IPA I've tasted is "proving" , Proving Ground is GOOD.
Was happy to hear when they were able to reopen for business. They have some really tasty beer and amazing food. Was kind of dead for a Saturday but it is the slow season for breweries. If you're in the mood for good beer and really good flatbread pizza, this is the place to go.
Ok, so been back a few times since the reopen. I'm big into barrel aged beers, and stoked with the new bag of hammers collab beer, it's my bear of the year for me! . Not only that but the new food menu is way better! I got the pulled pork sandwich tonight and was not expecting to get what I got. Pure sandwich nirvana, visually stunning, the pork cooked perfectly, the coleslaw and sauce is like nothing I've ever had! Please keep that on the menu!
First time in since the reopening and happy to be back!!! Came in for Happy Hour and had a good time talking sports and music at the bar with a few people and the bartenders. Beers were just like I remember them. Looking forward to 2026 and Rubberducks season with Akronym back in Akron!!! Another stamp on thr Ohio Brewpath passport!
Beers were good and the bartenders were really cool. Will definitely be back next time we’re in town.
A nice brew pub located in downtown Akron. I was surprised they were not crowded on a Friday night. They have a nice selection of brews on tap. The bar staff was friendly. The night we were there, they had the bar area open to the outside. You can choose inside or outside seating. You are next to a busy street, so you will get traffic noise. The seating area is clean and it is a nice place to enjoy a drink with friends.
Really relaxed brewery with a delicious menu. Tacos on Taco Tuesday/Thursday are delicious and the s'mores cheesecake was massive and wonderful. Bartenders appear to also be the chefs so be patient if they're busy - it's worth it. There's also a Wednesday night trivia night. Looking forward to coming back during the summer events.
Great food, big burgers for the kids. Pumpkin beer is delicious! But what will bring me back when we are in the area is the hospitality. Setting up the two big kids at the TV with cartoons helped a lot while I was trying to eat and take care of the baby. Probably the most relaxed meal I have had in months.
We ate dinner at Akronym Brewing this past Friday night and were lucky to have great weather so we sat outside. We enjoyed Anything But Corona and High Street Wheat with Blackberries. So so good! Our reuben and hot honey ham and swiss sandwiches made for a delicious dinner with our beers! We were staying at BLU-Tique Hotel which is a super quick walk around the corner to Akronym!
Definently 5 stars. It was a cold day and kept it very warm inside. Bartenders were knowledgeable about beers and very helpful. Ambiance is perfect and the bartenders were extremely friendly and talkative. Especially Darla. Beer to go also and there is a small menu and the ham sandwich is awesome. When in Akron, this is the spot!
Sunday Brunch at a Brewery?? Akronym hit it out of the park. You can tell they care and take pride in what they put out there. Having a very small corner, a brunch menu has to be challenging and very easy to put out less good food. That is not the case. The chef took pride in what he put on the plate. Taste, presentation, value, and everything else about the meal was perfect. Everyone at the table said the same, tasty and perfect. While the brunch menu is small, you can find something for most people. Not only was the meal wonderful, so were our drinks. The guys behind the bar were extremely helpful and friendly. Giving suggestions, answering questions and helping everyone get what they liked. The drink menu was not just beer, they have wine and spirits as well. Something is there for anyone.
Decided to stop in when visiting the local comic book shop down the street. Excellent selection of in-house beers and nicely crafted cocktails if you're not into beer. Sampled food from the Sunday brunch menu and had the best French Toast I've ever had! Will definitely be going back as they are opening a biergarden soon!
Was a nice spot. Atmosphere was great. Bartender was really cool. Zach? I think his name was. Super cool dude. Plan on returning again
* I thought the Awkward Handshakes NE double IPA was pretty good, but I really enjoyed the Cuyahoga Connection * A nice vibe inside, and nice patio. Well worth a visit.
If you like more traditional German style beers, this is your place. Beautiful location and the food was good.
Nice place to hangout and get beer. They had live music in the evening ( june 23rd 2018) and the atmosphere was fun. Only giving a 4 as they dont serve food.
Solid beer selection with a little something for everyone. Options are rotated through on a regular basis. Laidback seating area with a good-sized patio. Parking can be tricky during the week, but the garage next door is free on weekends.
Solid beers, great bartenders, and a wonderful space with a great patio that overlooks Market St. Every beer I've had there has been good with some that are really standout. Try a flight! It appears they have some food, too, though I did not try anything on the menu.
(Czech) Pils 5.0abv very good, decent hop nose light bite on the finish (not big but full flavored, great serving size) .5L ; (Henry NE) IPA 6.0abv pretty good, complex hop nose good back end low bitter (the confusing hop forward puts this between Hazy NE WC) (taster) ; - 3 TV's , good WiFi , no dedicated parking , outdoor seating , 15 beery things on tap today (7 are Belgo adjunct HiABV malt beverage things) , can't miss right on the avenue , no Pale/ Brown/ WC IPA today , serving sizes and prices are NOT clearly listed (on the overhead board) ,
Akronym Brewing had a relaxing vibe and was a nice stop for a quick drink. The atmosphere felt welcoming, and the staff was kind and attentive. We ordered a flight, and I loved the A-shaped flight holder, a fun and thoughtful detail. All of the beers we tried were good and easy to enjoy. Overall, a pleasant experience and a great place to stop in if you’re in the area. Definitely recommend giving Akronym Brewing a try.
The beer here is continually improving and their partnerships with other breweries makes some unique hybrids. Five starts on location. 4 on beer. There’s no food service here and that makes it a stop between stops, when compared to other breweries in the area, which not only have food but outstanding fare, it’s a 3 for now. I can imagine they are working hard to change this so I look forward to returning for their really good beer and future food.
The service was awesome, beers were great BUT they unexpectedly did last call for a "private party" on a Sunday at 1:30, that wasn't supposed to be private. Sooo that really bit a damper on a good experience.
Did not have and light beers. They ran out? Bar was smoky from the kitchen. They do not have an exhaust fan. Oh, service was very slow. In all, really disappointed
