Tranquil cafe set in a jungle setting. Food is delicious, staff is attentive and friendly.

I just noticed a previous review that mentioned no vegan options. Check out the menu in my post and see what’s available. It looks like there are a few options now. As of November 2023, this place is fairly new, under a year old. What a lovely surprise. As we walked down the road, it looked like a very small place that might just be selling coffee and a few pastries. We were looking for a bit of a more substantial snack mid day, but we thought we should pop in and take a look at it before going further down the road. The view from the road is very deceiving. The offerings look quite slim until you come in and look at the menu. If you speak English, make sure you grab an English Menu Instead of trying to decipher the Spanish one, as we did for a while! At this point, we looked to our left and realized that there was a whole restaurant back there with beautiful concrete and wood flooring, artisnal wood chairs, shade sails above, and just a beautiful vibe. As much as we love all of the Mexican and seafood fare that Akumal offers, it was just so refreshing to have a few of the more homey comforts that we were used to at the midpoint in our trip. Croissants and BLTs. Eggy things, and cinnamon buns. Brownies and burritos. Carrot cake, and quiche. Chilaquiles. A lovely smattering. I had an iced latte and my husband had a XX beer. Service was a bit slow, but we didn’t feel like we needed to be rushing on our our vacation. We just wanted to enjoy this new space and support a new business. Also, we figured that they might be running things fairly lean while they get on their feet, which is totally understandable. Atmosphere was surprisingly amazing - jungly and upscale - and the food was refreshing and delicious. Don’t pass this place by, thinking it’s just a hole in the wall (jungle). It seems they have put a lot into building this new destination and I really hope they make it into the institution I think it can be. Bravo.

This was my favorite meal in Mexico. Breakfast was awesome, good smoothies, and the atmosphere is really great. Also found the prices were good.

You have never been in a place like this. It's right on the main road in Akumal Norte but the minute you step in, you ARE in the Jungle. A peaceful and tranquil atmosphere were you can sip your coffee or have a great meal. A must visit while in Akumal, Mexico.

New, fresh addition to Akumal/ Half Moon Bay. The best coffee/ cappuccino in the area, fantastic food the chilaquiles were a stand out, this muffin was phenomenal and the bowls were delicious- what’s not to love. Best of all the staff was super friendly and authentic.

Great breakfast place just walking distance from our condo. Open 9 am - Noon. Very reasonably priced. Good espresso, fresh juices, and delicious traditional Mexican breakfasts. The green chilaquiles(add two eggs), a green juice and a double shot of espresso were my go-tos during our stay. The only draw back is that the power went out twice in the area(including our condo). When that happens the restaurant is forced to close which is to be expected. I definitely recommend this place for breakfast if you’re staying in the area

So good! Came for breakfast twice. Coffee was the best in Akumal! Food was fresh and the baked goods outstanding. Kiddos loved watching the geckos and the mangrove. They loved the cinnamon rolls too! Cool place, great vibe, prompt service and amazing food!

I came here 4 times during my 2 weeks stay in Akumal. The setting is unique and a total vibe! The waitress was great each time. Their quiche and baked items are excellent. The cappuccino and green juice divine. I will return here again one day!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! We stayed in Akumal for 8 days and ate here. Every. Day. We absolutely should’ve got groceries for breakfast, but our first day had us hooked and we learned of their story to get this place started. Great variety of breakfast goods - coffee is great. Fresh juice smoothies. Eggs. Pastries. They have only been open since Dec ‘22 and definitely have something special for the few options in Akumal. Support these folks and the crew - they are top notch.

We had green juices which was refreshing and delicious. Chilaquiles, Blt, French toast and burrito- all tasty and satisfying. Best bacon I’ve had in Mexico yet.

We came here everyday we were in Akumal. The coffee is perfect and the service is wonderful. I recommend the chilaquiles (if you’re there on the weekend, get it with the cochinita pibil—you won’t regret it) and the burrito royal. If you like sweeter, the passion toast is delicious and their cinnamon rolls are pillowy soft. We’ll definitely be back

Jungle Café was such a great find near the middle of Half Moon Bay that we ended up going back twice — always a good sign. 🥳 The location is lovely, right by the mangroves, and we honestly expected it might be buggy… but surprisingly there were zero bugs both times we visited. Instead, we got the fun bonus of spotting a couple of iguanas and some great bird life, which added to the relaxed jungle vibe. The staff was super friendly and smiley, and we appreciated that they offer both Spanish and English menus. Service felt warm and easy from start to finish.💞 Food-wise, everything we tried was tasty. My standout was the mocha made with Mexican hot chocolate and coffee — one of the best I’ve had on this trip. It had a great balanced flavor and wasn’t overly sweet. We also shared the breakfast bagel sandwich and guacamole, both very generous portions — easily enough for us to split and feel satisfied. The quiche Lorraine was also delicious and worth trying.💥 If you’re staying near Half Moon Bay and want a dependable, relaxed breakfast or coffee spot with great flavors and a peaceful setting, Jungle Café is absolutely worth a visit.🥰 PS they are Bitcoin aficionados and I look forward to them taking Bitcoin because I would happily have paid in BTC.🥳

La atmósfera y el lugar sin igual. El staff súper amigable y atento. Difícil de decir pero los chilaquiles divorciados con camarón son de los mejores que he comido en la vida. La densidad, las salsas caseras y el balance de sabores además del balance entre crujiente y aguadito de los totopos .. PERFECTO. Estuve preguntando y me dieron de probar los totopos que compran. Son horneados (lo que los hace más ligeros) y el maíz orgánico… Chulada. Yo no soy de dulce, pero mi amiga se pidió la tostada francesa y me dio de probar. Lo mismo. La canela de la tostada crocante y densa con sabores que no se pierden. El compote de frutos rojos las chispas de chocolate y la canela de la mezcla de la tostada mantenían su sabor sin pisarse. Me llamó la atención el brioche. La textura el sabor y el aguante del “crunch” ante la compota y la chantillí me impresionó. También preguntando me dijeron que la mandan a hacer por pedido a Belleville, la mejor panadería de la península! Si de gustos no hay nada escrito;) Gracias Jungle café!

Sitting outside on the wood deck, facing the mangrove forest, a narrow “stream” just in front of you, you are on a safari—scores of coati walking across mangrove root “bridges,” then slithering through them as you sip your coffee or golden milk latte & have a fantastic breakfast of chilaquiles or brioche french toast. See, hear the melodious blackbird or the great-tailed grackle as the sun flickers theough the canopy. This is a place of peace & good vibes. Sofia will greet you, seat you & take care of you. You’ll be treated with kindness here. Highly recommend this little sanctuary among the hustle & bustle of a tourist beach place.

What a find! The breakfast burritos are delicious. Cappuccinos are top-notch. The people are super nice. But the best part is the setting. The tables in the back sit right against the water and jungle. During breakfast there were tons of coatis passing through. Absolutely delightful.

Absolutely loved sitting here at the jungle Café! What an amazing place to just sit and watch the nature while having a nice meal and coffee. As many have said in other reviews, we went to this restaurant every morning for our five day stay. The atmosphere is lovely. The coffee is excellent. We ordered many different things and they ranged from good to excellent. As many people have noted, the real star of the show is Sophia who waits on all the tables herself and is absolutely lovely and charming. Would highly recommend this to anyone and it is an easy walk from pretty much any condo in the Half Moon Bay. When we were there, it was very low season so we got a lot of personal attention. I have seen a couple of criticisms about speed of Service which I cannot comment on because we did not have that experience. However, keep in mind that this is a small shop run by a few people and if you go with a big group at a very busy time, you may wait a little bit, but that is to be expected in the region. If you are an American, who wants In-N-Out in five minutes, then I would say this might not be for you nor is vacationing in Mexico. Having been said, we were always served very quickly and food came faster than in most places in the US.

Found a spot for breakfast! The road getting to the café is long with lots of speed bumps. But the food is great! Get the breakfast burrito with chorizo! Ask for the spicy salsa! We came in October so it was wet, but the patio was still comfy. Looks like a mosquito heaven but I didn't see any, Im assuming they treat the area! That's a big deal considering most places dont!

Tucked just off the main road in the condo section of Akumal Bay, Jungle Café is a charming little oasis that instantly transports you to another world. Nestled along a peaceful creek and shaded by mangrove trees, the setting alone is worth the visit. Open daily from 7:30 AM to 12:30 PM, this spot is perfect for a relaxed and flavorful breakfast. The coffee was excellent, and the food even better. I had the Burrito Royal—a breakfast burrito with grilled shrimp and black beans—that was so good I’d happily come back day after day for it. We also tried the French toast with bacon crumbles on top, and it was a perfect sweet and savory treat. Special shoutout to Selena for her warm and welcoming service. She and her team made us feel right at home with their friendly smiles and top-notch hospitality. If you’re anywhere near Akumal, do yourself a favor and start your day at Jungle Café. You won’t regret it!

We went here every morning of our stay here. The atmosphere is neat and the food is good. Definitely get the green drink, we were obsessed. I ordered the shrimp burrito and my husband got the chilaquiles and the same burrito as me. He said the chilaquiles had good flavor but the chips should be crispier.

Delicious breakfast and an amazing atmosphere. We ordered a variety of different breakfast dishes and everything was so good. I had the chilaquiles with eggs and a Mexican hot chocolate. It was amazing. My wife can't eat gluten because she has celiac. They were careful and described the ingredients of the dishes until she felt safe. She got the Mexican scrambled eggs (without toast), and she loved her meal. Overall, the experience was wonderful, and we'll definitely visit the Jungle Cafe again if we return here on vacation.

Such a beautiful spot on Half Moon Bay in Akumal! On the jungle side of the road, this restaurant has a unique atmosphere, great service, great coffees and food. A nice place to linger over a lazy morning. We enjoyed the quiche, and all dishes we tried - and we went several times during our week stay.

Dieses kleine süße Café erwartet man eher nicht in der doch mittlerweile sehr touristischen Stadt Akumal. Es liegt allerdings auch etwas abseits des Trubels. Wir wurden sehr freundlich begrüßt und konnten uns einen freien Platz aussuchen. Der Cappuccino war sehr lecker - es gab als milchfreie Variante Mandelmilch. Das Angebot an Snacks und Frühstück war klein, aber klang sehr lecker. Wir wollten an dem Morgen nur etwas Kleineres und entschieden uns für Pancake of the day. Jedoch bekamen wir nicht wie erwartet Pfannkuchen, sondern einen zu groß geratenen Muffin. Dieser war lecker, aber auch sehr süß. Alles in allem hat es uns dort auch wegen dem schönen Ambiente und dem sehr freundlichen Service sehr gut gefallen und ist absolut einen Besuch wert!

Great atmosphere, laid-back service. The only reason for not 5 stars is that there are no vegan friendly options on the menu. I decided to go for French toast, but it was impossible to eat since it was deep-fried. It's definitely not a choice I would have made had I known it before. It's still a great place, I am sticking to just coffee for now.

Nice place to have breakfast. The French toast is delicious, worth to wait for it. I will change the chips for the chilaquiles to make them crunchy. Place is unique. Offers a different experience than by the water. French toast is oily. I would avoid. Omelette sandwich was good. Coffee is good.

Went for brunch and had a mixed experience. Several items on the menu were unavailable. When our food arrived, some items were missing, yet they still appeared on the bill, requiring us to notify staff to have them removed. On a separate visit today, I stopped in to order a coffee to go and was left standing at the register without anyone assisting us. Overall, the experience was disappointing and suggests a need for better staff training.

The server was nice and service was overall good. However the food was extremely disappointing. The chilaquiles were made with bagged tortilla chips and the french toast was made using Sam’s Club french toast sticks. In terms of atmosphere, it was pretty cool to be in the jungle. However it was hard to enjoy while eating gross frozen french toast sticks. The only redeeming quality about this place were the drinks. Regardless, if you want breakfast food, I recommend going somewhere else.

Viajamos de Playa del Carmen para descubrir que el horario está incorrecto 😒, cierran a las 12:00pm. A pesar de eso lo hemos probado un par de veces antes y es un muy buen lugar para desayunar.
