Amazing food. Went here last minute and had no idea it was Vietnamese...its hard to tell from the menu. Crab was amazing but severely messy!
We came to Firenze on a Thursday night as a group of four and ordered four different pastas. I was really impressed by the Firenze Gnocchi. The Gnocchi Firenze consists of potato dumplings in a light tomato cream sauce. The gnocchi was creamy, soft, and the sauce was incredibly flavorful. The gnocchi's texture was really good, it's like you can simply 'tongue-eat' it, with no need to chew, and it will just melt in your mouth. Service was quite good as well!
Amazing food every time, especially the gnocchi trio. Amazing service by Paulo and Fabio and all involved. I have been going to Firenze By Night for about 20 years and it has never disappointed.
Don't let the fact that this restaurant is in a touristy area fool you. The food was absolutely wonderful even for us locals! We loved our Italian escargots as appetizers and angel hair and stuffed quail as main course. Very delicious. Portions were super generous too. Service was excellent.
Absolutely loved eating here! The gnocchi is the best I've ever had!!
This place was amazing!! Food, staff and atmosphere were great. Very much made us think we were back in Italy. Food was incredible! Highly recommend getting the gnocchi
Really good service and pretty good Italian food. Food was 4/5, but service was 5/5 hands down. The tables were kind of close to each other. This reminded me of the restaurants in Italy, but this also meant a lot more noise and less intimacy. I would go back just for the amazing service.
Fantastic restaurant in North Beach. Bartender, waiters and management are very friendly and welcoming. The tiramisu is totally worth it! All the other dishes were amazing, but the tiramisu was very much something! Their signature dish is gnocchi Firenze it is simple, but amazing. The tomato cream sauce is perfect. As an appetizer I had the minestrone soup again just great. You must visit this restaurant if you're in San Francisco.
Best Italian restaurant in San Fran for sure. We had an amazing dinner with perfectly cooked escargot and the yummiest braised lamb we've had (maybe ever). We arrived late and were the last ones to leave but the staff was exceptionally kind and accommodating. Quite enjoyed the lovely ambience that reminded us of Florence with the statue of David and the panoramic backdrop of Florence on a wall. The chef/owner is brilliant. So talented! We can't wait to go back 😄.
Great old school italian restaurant been in north beach wherever. While an old school restaurant, it serves very nice dishes, white tablecloth, it's one of the few places left in North Beach where you can have a special occasion dinner. It's like a birthday party graduation. It's a daytime type of time. There's so many great things on the menu. Saturday nights Osso Bucco is incredible. Great friendly staff that makes you feel totally welcome to see you walk in the door.
I'm always happy to take new friends to Firenze.by Night. Staff and service is always welcoming and top notch. Food is delicious -- try the quail!
Great place. Gnocchi was great and the all pastas are fantastic. Just over $140 for 4 adults.
Wonderful filet of sole dore. Guinnocci and salad, wine. Great attentive service. Our family had a great meal.
Our family favorite in San Francisco. They have some of the best Italian food especially the pastas and risotto! Aside from great food, amazing service. We love this classic Italian restaurant - be sure not to miss one of the best no frills Italian restaurants in SF!
Omg! This place is awesome! We had one of the best meals of our lives here with our friends. We enjoyed the carpaccio, Lumache alla Rustica, Osso bucco, Gnocchi, Tortellini all Romano, Linguine con Vongole, and Tartufo di Chocolate and Tartufo Cappuccino. We were all blown away at how great the food was. The gnocchi melts in your mouth. The osso bucco is the best that I have ever had. Our service was excellent just like our meal. We will definitely return and I definitely recommend this establishment. You will not be disappointed.
Such a great old school Italian experience. Very welcoming chef/owner at the door who genuinely got to know us and made us feel at home. Food was incredible. We got the gnocchi and chicken piccata and both were delicious. Will definitely come back next time we’re in town!
Okay.. this was amazing... We we're greeted by the owner, Sergio, with a very warm welcome as if we were friends. He made us feel right at home even though there was 7 of us. Our server Brandon was very helpful and provided a great experience for us all. The menu recommendations were spot on. Truly the best deal I have ever had and I've eaten great veal in Europe. I was too excited and forgot to take pictures of all the food. I CANT WAIT TO COME BACK! Thank you so much for the awesome experience. P.s. I really wanted a picture with Sergio but he had already left. Maybe next time 😉👍
What a gem of a restaurant!! We had business in SF and were referred by a local friend, who is a regular here. This is NOT your typical Italian fare - it's old school and rustic, and rhat is a VERY good thing. In fact, chicken parm doesn't even make an appearance on the menu. By pure dumb luck, we got to sit at the bar and be served by Nadia, whose family owns Firenze. Our table wasn't quite ready so we sat to have a drink, and adored her so much we chose to stay there for dinner. She recommended the gnocchi, which we ordered as a starter. Paired with good red wine and their amazing house-made bread, this is a meal in and of itself. It is DELICIOUS, completely made from scratch. Worth a visit for just this dish! We also ordered veal parm (not on the menu, but a rotating special), and veal Medici, with made-from-scratch pesto. The Medici was great, and any other time I'd be thrilled with this dish, but the veal parm was out of this world amazing! Completely overshadowed the other food, and truly a dish I will remember for my entire life. We were sharing both plates and argued over who got to finish the parm! In addition to the fabulous food, the family who owns Firenze is wonderful. They sat with us at the bar at the end of the night and showed off family photos. Such wonderful company, we didn't want the night to end. I can't recommend this place highly enough, and will certainly be back next time we are in town.
I made a reservation after a friend recommended it to me, he told me this place was an incredible choice to go for after proposing to my gf. The service was phenomenal, Fabio was on point every time, and gave us a warm and comfortable and memorable experience. Nadia was amazing receiving us. This restaurant exceeded all of my expectations. Thank you truly, the food transported me to the Tuscany, flavors after flavors. 10/10
We made reservation reservations for Friday evening at 6:30 PM and we’re probably seated very friendly and welcoming staff We got the two dishes below and a side of focaccia Our server was attentive and friendly, and told us about the specials Try to ask for a table away from the arterial thoroughfare so you don’t end up, brushing elbows against people passing you by This place is right in the heart of Little Italy with a lot of fun things happening nearby Food was excellent
Oh my goodness, where do I even begin with Firenze? This isn't just a restaurant; it's an experience crafted with love. Each bite was a revelation of authentic Italian flavors. The gnocchi is absolute perfection. Specials are always delish as well. Beyond the exquisite cuisine, the hospitality is truly exceptional. The team’s genuine care and attention to detail made our evening feel incredibly special. It's clear they pour their hearts and souls into this restaurant, and it shines through in every aspect, from the welcoming ambiance to the heartfelt service. If you're looking for an authentic taste of Italy at an SF staple, you've found your spot!
What a delightful experience! The intimate setting at Firenze by Night was incredibly cozy. The staff were warm and welcoming, making us feel right at home -- beginning with a cheerful greeting from Chef Paolo who was happy to find us a table even without a reservation. We began with the gnocchi, which was simply divine. For our main courses, we both opted for veal dishes - both were beautifully presented and incredibly flavorful. We were thoroughly impressed with the quality of the food and the overall service. It was a truly memorable dining experience.
I was in San Francisco last week and my brother just so happened to be in town too. We decided to meet up for dinner in North Beach. Firenze By Night was amazing. Paolo met us at the door and greeted us like family. My brother and I and his son and my daughter’s boyfriend had drinks at the bar before dinner. Nadia came and got us when our table was ready. She sat us down, told us the specials. She recommended the antipasto plate to start. Also the stuffed mushrooms. They did not disappoint. We had a bottle of Chianti with our dinner. We never felt rushed. They let us talk and have fun. Delicious food. Wonderful atmosphere. Fresh ingredients at a good price. Thank you.
Life changing gnocchi! So fluffy, so pillowy, truly I have not had gnocchi like that before. The service and atmosphere were both top notch. Cozy vibes, white tablecloths but comfy and welcoming. The food was amazing! A north beach classic. Can’t wait to go back
Posh restaurant tucked beneath a building that looks as if it were constructed from Lego blocks: a beautiful skirt with an unimaginative blouse. The patrons are dressed as if attending the opera, and I am pleased to see the otherwise unfashionable Francians putting on the ritz for Firenze by Night.
Such a gem of a restaurant. Authentic food, service, and ambiance! My fiancé and I cannot get enough of Firenze. Highly recommend.
Wow what a dinner. Some of the best raviolis ever!! The romaine salad with Gorgonzola was perfect, and the service was great. My first time at Firenze won't be my last!
Wife and I had an amazing meal here at Firenze by Night! The service was absolutely amazing and attentive! The food was so delicious! I highly recommend the Melon e Prosciutto! We did half and half pastas for both of us and every single pasta dish was perfection! Espresso Martini was fantastic too!
One of the best Italian restaurants I’ve ever been to. Everything was excellent from the food to the drinks to the service. I’ll definitely be back with more friends next time I’m in the city.
Amazing food, attentive wait staff. Recommended by our Uber driver and, excuse the pun, he didn’t steer us wrong!

In full disclosure, we ended here by chance. The restaurant we were headed to was closed for a private party. What good luck we had. Firenze by night is a true family-run (Sister as the host, brother as waiter and kitchen guy), old school Italian restaurant in San Francisco’s iconic North Beach. If you’re looking for “elevated” Italian or groovy cocktail lists, this is not the place for you. But if you’re looking for amazing food and attentive service in a an old school vibe of warmth and authenticity then check it out. We shared a bottle of wine, and devoured the home baked focaccia. Green salads were fresh, and the dressing was excellent and tangy. My partner had the famous gnocchi and was positively effusive about it throughout the meal. I had the spinach and ricotta ravioli with light marinara sauce… Divine. Can’t wait to go back.

I went to Firenze, Italy last summer and when we decided to have Italian in SF, I immediately thought of this place. I had seen it before on Yelp and it served typical dishes that we tried in Firenze so we booked it. The owner was really nice and since I know Italian it was a pleasure to speak a few Italian bits with him, he reminded me so much of my dad - filled with energy. What a character. We had booked a table for four (this place is only open for dinner by the way) and we arrived 15 min early but the owner wouldn't sit us until the full group showed up hahaha - I thought this was very original because most places will usually make you sit right away. But we didn't mind waiting. He saw me being a bit tired so he decided however to make us sit before our friends actually showed up (which was like 5 min later). We had a nice table. The interior design is really beautiful and not pretentious at all. Nice decor, art and tables have space between them which is nice. The place was absolutely full and buzzing. Between the four of us we ordered the bruscheta (which was normal but heavy on the garlic a bit), a Chianti bottle of wine (which was bit vinegary but I guess most chiantis are like that, suggest to try a different wine) ravioli della mamma which were really nice, risoto porcini (which was fabulous, my God the taste of porcini was insane), veal saltimboca ( a real winner) and sadly I went for the pappardelle toscana with rabbit sauce but have to say it was a let down - the ratio of pasta versus sauce was not in balance, there was way too much pasta and way too little sauce and it felt watered down in terms of taste. Overall I had a lovely experience so will definitely be back to try more dishes. We ended it with the truffle chocolate ice cream which was soooooooooooooooo good!!! Bon Apetito :) The staff was very friendly and the owner came to check on us couple times during our meal and at the end so that had a nice touch since the place was so busy. Will definitely be back for more.
8/10 a small intimate restaurant in north beach, perfect for a date night. the bruschetta (9/10) was solid, and exactly what you'd expect from bruschetta lol. idk how you could mess it up, but it was good! we got the linguini tuttimare (7/10). it lacked a little flavor, and the mussels and clams were fishy and tasted old :/ presentation was great though and it came out hot! the penne mare e monti (9.5/10). for what it is, it was great. the shrimp was perfectly cooked and the sauce had the flavor that the linguini lacked. apparently this place is known for their gnocchi so i'd want to come back and try that. i'd recommend firenze! very solid and very reasonable prices in north beach :) tiramisu (9.5/10). whipped cream was fresh, so good. there was a strong coffee taste and bits of sugar. man, so delicious. my only critique is i wish the bread was softer. it tasted a bit stale
Tonight, we dined at Firenze By Night, a cozy Italian gem in San Francisco's North Beach neighborhood, and it was nothing short of spectacular during our Dec 2024 visit. * Caesar Salad: Absolutely perfect! The greens were crisp, the croutons were perfectly crunchy, and the dressing was balanced with just the right tang and creaminess. * Alfredo Pasta with Jumbo Prawns: Creamy, rich, and indulgent. The jumbo prawns were cooked to perfection, adding a fresh and luxurious touch to the dish. * Fettuccine Pesto with Chicken: This was, without a doubt, the best pesto I've ever tasted. The vibrant basil flavor, paired with tender chicken and perfectly cooked fettuccine, made it unforgettable. * Gnocchi: Light, pillowy, and coated in a delicious sauce--this award-winning dish lived up to its reputation. * Bread with Olive Oil and Olive Paste: The olive oil itself was great, but the olive paste served with it was out of this world! It added an intense, savory richness that elevated the bread to another level. The ambiance was warm and inviting, with a classic Italian charm, and the service was friendly and attentive throughout the evening. However, the place can get loud if there are too many large parties, which might affect the overall experience for some diners. Overall, Firenze By Night delivered an exceptional dining experience. From the unforgettable pesto to the incredible olive paste, this is a must-visit spot for authentic Italian cuisine in San Francisco. Highly recommend!
The service was top notch. I was disappointed this restaurant didn't have lasagna with meat. Only a vegetarian option. No spaghetti. My plate was really good though.
Had the chicken parm. It was delicious, juicy, and not overcooked. The sauce might be a too salty for my liking. Also, found it fairly pricy at $38. Escargo was yummy. The other appetizers you can probably go without. Also didn’t realize bread costs $3.50. The waitress seems to be one of the owners daughter. She was kind and super helpful. Really great to hear the history.

The food was absolutely to die for but they charge for bread and don’t disclose that until you see the bill. Not nice. I got the bread to go and saw x2 charge for bread on my bill. That is considering how expensive that place is.
Roasted chicken with mushrooms was good. Was not really a fan of the marinated roasted vegetables, they are served cold, not hot. The orange sorbet comes in an orange shell...very good.
The service was excellent and energetic, but the portions for the appetizers were shockingly small. $13 for a Cesar salad a little bigger than my palm and $14 for Caprese (3 pieces). Giving it 3 stars because the tortellini and gnocchi were really good.

It's a classic Italian-American restaurant with uneven food quality. The fish of the day was excellent! But the salad caprese (buffalo mozarella with tomato and basil had a tasteless tomato, with was criminal as there were fresh, amazing tomatoes for sale around the city -- we had a better salad caprese the next day at home) and the quail stuffed with sausage (the sauce and polenta was excellent but the sausage was bland and the quail added nothing to the dish; it was really a let down to the meal) were subpar. At the price point of this restaurant, such uneven quality is unacceptable. The service and atmosphere was good, but what does it matter if you're being served an inedible tomato?
Sooo, we went to have a nice Italian dinner because of the great reviews. The customer service was great—the staff were lovely and attentive! 1. “Italian” orange soda – We asked for a non-alcoholic Italian drink, and they suggested this. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a poorly made mocktail. Still, we gave them the benefit of the doubt. 2. Bread for the table (charged, of course) – Amazing! The bread was fresh and the pesto sauce was excellent. 3. Grilled vegetables – Sadly, this was just a cold salad. 4. White sauce vegetarian pasta – I requested this off-menu, and they agreed but charged it as a special. Unfortunately, it tasted like something made half-heartedly, just to get it out of the way. Definitely below average. [edit: look at the amount of butter/oil that was used in the white sauce pasta.] 5. Tiramisu – I could actually taste the granulated sugar. I’ve had much better.. Well , just an extremely disappointing experience. Maybe it’s just me, but I won’t be going back or recommending this place. I personally find it overpriced for very mediocre food.
