Avis sur Kalaches Alameda
This was my first time trying kolaches after hearing my friends from Texas hype them up, and they definitely lived up to it. I ordered three savory and one sweet. The bread was super soft, and the savory ones were packed with filling. The sweet cream cheese kolache was also great, not overly sweet and really well-balanced. Overall, a solid first kolache experience!
Great brunch options for when you’re in a hurry. Tried the egg/cheese and egg/sausage/cheese ones; both hit the spot. It reminds me a bit of peasant pies though personally I liked this better as it felt a little cleaner/simpler.
If you haven't had Kalaches yet, you are missing out! Warm soft flavorful dough filled to the brim with REAL, quality fillings. These are the perfect grab and go snack or meal. Every bite was a cacophony of delicious flavor and not one crumb or filling was lost as the dough kept everything together without exploding onto my clothing as other "filled buns" might. As a type 1 diabetic I tend to shy away from such baked goods. I finally broke down after seeing all my colleagues at the office raving about them and I have to say, they were worth every unit of insulin.
The best customer service and amazing food. I hadn’t had these since I was last in Texas, came in for their big open and then again today. They keep getting better and offering new flavors and combos!
Kolaches in SF?! Have you been to legendary Czech Stop and wanted some in San Francisco too? Well, Kalaches doesn't come close to Czech Stop (a national treasure), but they still field some excellent kolaches! Kalaches has both sweet and savory kolaches, though their menu is in the middle of updating, probably due to just having opened a short while ago. I got a large amount to share between my Texas transplant friends and myself. The dough lacks sweetness compared to what you would find from a Texas store, and overall less salty for their savory kinds. The sausage is spot on with the type/style of sausage, being used in their "Texas style". Notably, the cheese is higher quality than what you would typically find, but I won't gripe about that. Other than that, Kalaches has nailed it really well with their kolaches! The price is steep, but that's to be expected in downtown SF. Out of all the kolaches I tried (strawberry, strawberry-nutella, sausage egg, sausage jalapeno, and the Texas style), the Texas style is a clear winner and what I would get next time I'm back. The Texas style was offered as spicy and non-spicy, and the spicy version was amazing! All were consistent with their dough being well made and having a good amount of filling. When I went, their online menu doesn't quite match up with their in-store offerings. They were also out of a few kolaches by noon (notably, there were neither any savory vegetarian nor cheese-free kolaches left available). The store is pretty small, catering for to-go, with minimal seating (outdoor + indoors) but service is quick as the staff is fast on getting the kolaches into boxes for you. Two display cases, one for savory and one for sweet. They were very kind with helping me place them into separate boxes for the multiple parties I was ordering for. One downside is the kolaches were cooler than I would have liked if I was to eat them immediately near the store, perhaps since I arrived around noon. However, they were fantastic after being heated in an oven for a short time. I'll definitely be back again to scratch my kolach itch!
This place was super good to run in and grab a quick bite. I’d never had a Kolache before and this hit the spot. They just opened and the couple running it are really nice. Healthy and made fresh daily 10/10 will come back
Run don't walk! As a "texpat" I was very excited to try out Kalaches and their food did not disappoint! Great size plus they reheat well so I recommend picking up a box to enjoy over the course of a few days. They have both savory kolaches and sweet pastries too. I will be back!
Kolaches were awesome! Took a bunch for family, can’t believe they are finally in the Bay Area!
Great staff amazing food, great place!
Delicious parties and heft filled buns. Interesting take on brunch. Support local business!
New spot in the neighborhood! Friendly staff & yummy food :)

warmth - in the bread, in the egg, in the soul. I have never had kalaches before, but somehow I feel at home.

Absolutely yummy kalaches! We tried both the sweet and savory ones. I got them to go, thinking I’d warm them up at home and enjoy them later. Guess what? They didn’t make it home—I ate them in the car, cold, and they were still delicious! So glad to hear they offer delivery because I’m definitely ordering more soon.
I love this place and am so happy it's across the street from my work. Makes me nostalgic for my time in Texas. They've got several delicious flavors and an awesome house-made hot sauce (you gotta ask for it!). They have both sweet kolaches and savory ones and I'm a huge fan of the savory breakfast ones.
My first time enjoying a kalache and loved it! I had one breakfast and one lunch flavor and enjoyed both. Gus at the register was so friendly and very informative. Can’t wait to come back and enjoy some more of these delicious pastries!
The dough was soft, warm, and perfectly baked, creating a wonderful base for the fillings. What made these Kalaches stand out were the unique flavor combinations! Very tasty and we’ll be back! Additional vegetarian options would be welcome!
The perfect on-the-go breakfast: savory (or sweet), filling and portable. Each time I walk in, Gus, the manager, greets me with a smile. They also serve hot chocolate with different flavor profiles and coffee for under $3. Try this little gem the next time you’re in the SoMa area. Yummy!
Kalaches is one of our new go-to spots for a quick, filling, filling-stuffed bite. We recommend the 3/2 rule: go with a friend, each get a savory, and share a sweet one together. The restaurant itself is tiny, as to be expected on this corridor of shops, which makes it really nice for Gus (and I’m sure other folks I just haven’t seen yet) to keep it clean and well-organized. The orange color used to punch the design up is very energizing but also warm. We have always been well taken care of and well-fed coming out of Kalaches, so thanks to Mr. Gus and his team of folks helping to get this spot up and going. It’s definitely worth taking the walk/bus/ride for. The food is great, the restaurant is vibrant, and the people are kind.
Wow these are DELICIOUS. I first stopped by during their grand opening—but wasn’t able to taste the Kolaches I grabbed since gave them to my partner, he gave them a 10/10. I had an appointment near by this morning and was able to pop in and finally taste them for myself! I grabbed the egg and cheese, veg breakfast, and the pumpkin peach—all absolutely delicious! I can’t wait to go back and grab a few more. They make a great breakfast or lunch!
What a delicious find. Love to treat my self to the Jalapeño or the Philly cheese steak 😋 great quick bite and friendly service. The place e is clean and in a nice location. Seating is available if you enjoy the outdoors.
Yeasty risen balls of dough are baked with substantial, moist, and flavorful fillings. What's not to love? One makes the perfect filling snack, but two make a meal. I’ve enjoyed them more often than I want to admit, and they have always been consistent, plus the staff is super friendly!

Texas style is the best but the Philly cheese steak is great too. And decent coffee. One-stop breakfast shop!
It was our first time trying this place. We heard through a friend that they finally found a kalachi spot in the city. We’re from Texas and have been craving kalaches for years. Gus was extremely kind and helpful! Loved the food and service, will definitely be back!

So grateful they have this delicious place in SF! They have some Kolache bakeries that serve both sweet and savory Kolaches in So Cal, Utah, and Texas, and thankfully now one in Nor Cal. Every Kolache place I’ve known of in Nor Cal has been sweet Kolaches only. Both sweet and savory Kolaches from this place are tasty. I hope Roseville and Sacramento get a sweet and savory Kolache bakery too!

Find another spot. I've been 6 different times and they NEVER have anything but a bunch of empty racks. It would be nice if they could meet the demand. Making two kalaches at a time isn't going to work. And trust me, when you wake up at 5:30am and walk 4 blocks, running out of food isn't a good problem to have.
