Cute restaurant! They print the date and what you’re celebrating on the menu booklet, so great to go on birthdays, anniversaries, etc. Crab is in season for Jan so there’s a crab toast course - while it’s innovative with a layer of fat on top, I did not like it as much and feel there’s a lack of flavor. My favorites were the scallop (very fresh!) and the wagyu (melts in your mouth!). The pumpkin soup looking dish actually has a whole layer of caviar at the bottom, surprise! Overall really liked it and will definitely visit again.

Lazy bears… you crushed it. Alex and I had such an incredible evening tonight. The food, the service and the atmosphere were all a 10 out of 10. You were kind, you were engaging, and you made us feel so special and taken care of. Thank you so much, we truly appreciate it.

The Lazy Bear exceeded all expectations and delivered a truly wonderful dining experience. From the moment we arrived until the end of the evening, the staff was gracious, warm, and attentive, thoughtfully explaining each dish and answering questions with genuine enthusiasm. Every course was impeccably prepared and beautifully presented, with flavors and textures carefully composed to create a memorable culinary journey; the San Francisco Bay black cod stood out as the pinnacle of the twelve-course tasting menu. The wine program is equally extraordinary, boasting remarkable breadth and depth, particularly in its verticals. The sommelier was exceptionally knowledgeable, guiding us effortlessly through the wine list to an ideal pairing, engaging in easy conversation about our preferences, and explaining the nuances of each wine in a clear, relatable way. We ended the evening with an aperitif in the wine cellar itself, which is nothing short of exceptional — a well curated collection spanning old and new producers, with impressive vintage depth. The cellar elevates the entire experience, making The Lazy Bear a destination for wine lovers and an unforgettable dining experience.

Absolutely stunning and memorable culinary experience! Each dish is so exquisite and meticulously prepared that at times it felt too much 😅 might have preferred slightly bigger portions and a few less courses. The banana bread and cold brew we brought back were such a nice touch!

I mean come on, what else needs to be said here. There is a reason why the chef has 2 Michelin stars. Incredible experience, one of the best dining experiences of my life. The food, service, ambiance is a 15 out of 10.

As soon as you walk in the door, you are in amazing hand. The staff is absolutely on point. The place itself is so beautiful and has a superb vibe. We met some really amazing people. Now let's get into the food. Oh yes, this place is a 2 Michelin star resturant for a reason. I loved everything and we usually have multiple apps and main courses to try it all. Nothing here disappointed. My favorite was..... everything! Keep up the great food and service!!

It’s a tasting menu, so you will have whatever is seasonal and inspires the chefs. It will be served with an explanation from one of the many cordial and pleasant staff, and we (a party of four) found it intriguing and mostly delicious. Many courses, some very light, most just 2-3 bites - so we didn’t leave feeling overfilled, just fulfilled. The oysters served two ways was our favorite course. Any disappointments? Only the cocktails, which 3 of us ordered, and no one thought were splendid. I ordered wine (Sauvignon Blanc). There’s not a lot of choices for by the glass, but mine was perfect for this meal. We didn’t go for any of the pairing options (non-alcoholic, standard, and blow-the-budget.) Would we come again? Yes, we would!

Wow. One of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to and easily the top one or two-star in SF (better than Californios). Food: Exceptional across the board. The cioppino, bread and butter, trout, and wagyu were out of this world. The wine pairing was spot on - remarkable bottles and one of the best Sauvignon Blancs I’ve ever had. Worth every penny, which I don’t often say about pairings. Some reviews mentioned small portions; that wasn’t my experience. Service: Excellent. Perfect pacing with no long waits. Servers were sharp, personable, and deeply knowledgeable. Finishing touches: The banana cake and cold brew to-go were the best parting gifts I’ve ever had. The espresso at the end was also one of the best I’ve had. Loved the personalization of the notebook. Minor misses: We had 3 separate waiters try to get a cocktail order. The cocktail was not as balanced as the rest of the menu. The restroom felt basic for a two-star. The décor could be more refined, though I appreciated the open kitchen. Notes: Attire smart casual. Parking is tough so take a taxi, especially if you’re getting the pairing. There’s no bar. No communal dinners anymore. Can’t wait to be back!

Dining at Lazy Bear was one of the best culinary experiences we’ve had in San Francisco. From start to finish, the pacing was perfect as the courses flowed naturally without ever feeling rushed or drawn out, which made the evening feel effortless and immersive. The staff was incredibly attentive and took the time to walk us through each dish and pairing with just the right balance of detail and enthusiasm. We especially appreciated how customizable the menu was. I enjoyed a fully vegetarian menu with a wine pairing that felt just as creative and complete as the standard offerings, while my wife had a menu adjusted to avoid certain meats she didn’t prefer. Every dish was beautifully presented, thoughtful, and delicious, with a level of creativity that made the whole experience feel special. Lazy Bear isn’t just a dinner, it was an experience. For anyone looking for a unique and memorable night out, it’s hard to beat.

What a unique and exciting experience! Lazy Bear delivers more than just dinner—it’s a culinary event. The flavors were incredible, the atmosphere was intimate yet energetic, and the presentation was top-notch. Highly recommend for a special night out

One of the best meals I've ever had. The service was fun, friendly, and informative. Every detail was accounted for. Each course was unique, fresh, and delicious. The split pea soup was my favorite. But everything from the tea at the start of the meal to the wine pairings to the bonus dessert was exceptional. Can't wait to go back!

I had a wonderful experience at Lazy Bear! Every dish was beautiful & delicious, service was amazing, & overall vibes from the decor & music was perfect. I was surprised by how creative their non alcohol pairing was & their survival guide menu booklet was just so fun & cute!

Dining at Lazy Bear is nothing short of magical. From the moment you step into the space, it’s clear you’re in for a unique, immersive experience—more dinner party than traditional restaurant, but with all the polish and precision you’d expect from a two Michelin-starred kitchen. Every course was thoughtfully composed, but two dishes stood out and will stay with me for a long time. The crab and rice was a love letter to the Bay Area—fresh, briny, deeply flavorful, and beautifully balanced. But the absolute star of the night was the lamb chop, cooked and charred to perfection over an open flame. It had an incredible depth of flavor, with just the right amount of smoke and tenderness that melted in your mouth. Yes, it’s expensive. Yes, reservations are hard to come by. But if you can get in, it’s 100% worth it. Lazy Bear is a rare gem that lives up to the hype and then some.

Celebrated my fiancé’s birthday here and they left no stones unturned in the food and service. Choicest of ingredients prepared with passion and served spectacularly with panache. It’s as good as fine dining gets. Besides the warmth and attentiveness of the staff, wanna call out how they go above and beyond in ensuring that it’s one of your most memorable nights dining out. An anecdote is, one of the servers noted our interest in hot sauces from my questions about the dishes, and we had an experimental hot sauce to-go from the chef with our breakfast for next day. Can’t recommend Lazy Bear enough 🐻

Such an amazing time. Went in for my friends birthday dinner. This was the last night of communal tables before they changed up service, so felt very lucky to be there. We were greeted when we entered and lead upstairs for cocktails and appetizers. Everything was so good. Service was very attentive. Different chefs explained each dish to the diners. The head chef encouraged every to come up to the pass to chat with them. Can't wait to come back and see what's different after the remodel.

Staff are so friendly and quirky, it's fun and casual, not a snobbish restaurant at all. The food is unforgettable — great presentation, interesting stories about the ingredients, taste chemistry was really good! I got the non alcoholic pairing and that was amazing. It's one of the best Michelin star restaurants I've ever been to.

What an amazing restaurant! The food was absolutely spectacular. The bread, the meat and the corn dish! This would be a five star review if it was just about the food and the service, but it is a two star Michelin restaurant so the expectations are high. We felt very rushed between the courses, even though we were finished because they were very cheap with the amount of wine they served in every glass. I expect more than just papertowels in the bathroom for a two star restaurant. Our waiters were very knowledgeable and gave us tips about bars in SF, highly appreciated!

I went a few years ago, and it was definitely a unique experience. It’s a communal dining setup with a long table where you share a meal with many others. The atmosphere was warm and special, definitely something different. If you’re looking for a private, intimate meal just between two people, this might not be the right place. It feels more like a shared Michelin experience with others, which takes the focus slightly away from the food itself. The dishes were visually impressive, but the flavors didn’t leave a strong impression. It wasn’t bad, but not memorable enough for me to go back. Overall, it was a thoughtful and interesting concept, and everyone there seemed to put a lot of heart into it. Worth trying once for the experience.

The first half was good, innovative but too salty (especially the black mushroom, I can’t finish the bottom - just too too salty. My partner usually like salty food also think couple dishes are overwhelming salty). The crab toast was good, but can’t taste much of crab flavor. The second half (starting from duck, then steak, and dessert) was not memorable, especially dessert was quite mediocre - sorry for saying that, but there is really nothing to highlight in dessert section, no pastry… just diff ways to serve fruits, no cake, no interesting finishings. As Michelin 2 stars, service is ok, food is well paced, def not as impressive as other 2 stars we have been. Hope this feedback can be helpful!

I'll preface this with I'm not looking for a fancy meal that I can splash on Instagram, we went to LB to celebrate a special occasion privately as two people who love good food! Plusses: * Super friendly staff * Duck/Waygu/Mushroom broth were phenomenal * Great pacing, not too fast or slow! * Up front pricing on the website / efficient Negatives: * Pricepoint of $550/head is insane, the markup must be over 3x * Portions of meat are so small, I would have gladly had half the courses and twice the portion size. Left hungry. * The last 4 beverages/food combos were excessively sugary (yes there were desserts but just felt off) Overall, nice spot, but clearly making a killing on the brand name, don't expect an experience that can live up to the price point.

Returned for my birthday after a wonderful first experience, but Lazy Bear has changed dramatically - and not for the better. The charming bear decor and communal tables are gone. More concerning: we spent $1,700 for two people (including beverage pairing) and received no birthday acknowledgment beyond an initial greeting and card. No candle, no special dessert, nothing. Every other Michelin-starred restaurant I've celebrated at has made birthdays feel special. The food was underwhelming, nothing special, portions in each of the dishes are tiny that left us hungry. The Coal-Roasted Wagyu Ribeye was excellent but just one thin slice. The Liberty Duck which is also one thin slice was too salty. Dessert ended with 2 bonbons and a single gummy bear. Compared to my first visit, both the creativity and the number of dishes have declined significantly. For two Michelin stars and this price point, Saison, Californios, Birdsong, and Commis all offer much better experiences. We were left very disappointed. Cannot recommend this place, spend your money elsewhere.

Meal started off promising, the tea was pretty and the appetizer bites were light and tasty. Everything took a turn for the worse after the meal service began. Everything was extremely salty, to the point where late in the meal the food started tasting inedible. Brought this up to the waiter which surprisingly gave no resolution to this. The menu was incredibly uninspiring with basic dishes like Waygu, duck and fish as the mains. How does this place have a Michelin star? Desserts were also overly sweet. Overall the meal was incredibly disappointing and 1 dimensional.
