This is a spacious but warm place for a breakfast at any time of day, a warm cup of coffee or a cool drink on a hot day. The menu is vegetarian friendly and there is light tempo jazz on the speaker. There is plenty of seating inside and out and the service here was excellent! Come in and enjoy some of the baked goods - delicious!
Wonderful coffee shop with great friendly staff and great coffee. It does get a little busy even on weekdays, but it is very close to a large parklet and a park.
They have excellent smoothies here! I ordered a Tarazan (peanut butter, cocoa, banana) which came in a really interesting glass mug. I had it with unsweetened almond milk and requested a double shot of espresso, because coffee tastes amazing with those flavors. They have all kinds of food as well. And you can sit outside in the sun if you have a dog, like me!
Great coffee Great service Plenty of room to stay a while
I really enjoy this place and it’s a nice environment to do work in. I love the taro latte and you can get it hot or iced; I’ve gotten the avocado toast a few times and it’s so fresh and wholesome. The club sandwich is great too!
Was my first time here and everything my friend told me about Otto was true — he’s a great guy! He complimented me on my CANADA sweater and was super helpful. I got their Magic Cup of Health and the Lox Plate from their specials menu! I was thoroughly satisfied with the food, drinks, and cozy vibes. If I lived closer I’d be a local. 😉
Great ambience, good for working from a cafe, lots of spaces to sit. ❤️ Mozzarella tomato hot panini sandwich was very tasty. Loved the pesto, the focaccia bread and everything. Probably the best Mozzarella tomato pesto sandwich I have had
By far the best coffee shop in Alameda - owned by a local, Otto - he might be the best person you’ll ever meet! Delicious food, generous portions, great coffee. This place is buzzing with locals reading, playing chess or doing cool things on their laptop. Strong wifi and comfortable chairs. I would move in here if I could :) lol Highly, highly recommended.
Look at this wine glass - picture was taken before I took a sip - do you find it as hilarious as I do? I ordered a veggie everything bagel with salmon added to it. It was very tall and packed with toppings, ate half of it and took the rest home. Delicious! Service was great and music choice is soothing.
Amazing experience. Great food and Coffee. Loved the customer service. Will be a regular here now onwards.
Amazing and friendly server. First time here and I’m definitely coming back. Highly recommend this place. The guy who helped me, I did not catch his name but made feel welcomed. My Mexican hot chocolate and breakfast sandwich were amazing.
Otto has given Park St. an amazing place for community. He is there most times, which is rare to see an owner there on a consistent basis. He and his employees are very friendly and kind, especially Josh. We go there often for their fun, local gatherings. Drinks are fresh and natural; I even got a drink named after me- try "Aimee's Apple Cider". I love that we can walk in there and Otto knows us and so many other patrons on a first name basis. Love love love The Local.
Excellent and friendly service. Tasty food. Look at that smoked salmon bagel and mocha. Come for a visit with friends or for live music and nibbles. So glad they are here!
So glad this gem of a coffee shop/hangout re-opened. Great drinks/food, service and atmosphere.

actually tasting the Tumeric... yummy... first time here
Amazing atmosphere, great coffee, friendly service. My favorite coffee spot in town
I love trying new coffee shops and this spot is great! The drip coffee is great! Also, I've tried their vanilla latte and Taro latte (with and without espresso) and enjoyed them very much! A wonderful balance of not too sweet and still able to taste the coffee! I appreciate the latte art too :)! I love the consistency in the taste of the drinks and the care that goes into making them. That is what keeps me coming back.
Definitely runs on the loud side but the iced mocha is so tasty and the vibes are very nice, super cozy

Great for wi-fi and a space to work with power outlets accessible from 70% of seats that i can see. Coffee though way too sugary (i got a mocha $6 which is definitely not a black coffee but it was way too much for me. I couldn’t finish it )

Love the recent updates to the inside of The Local. Well done! It seats more people yet feels more cozy and comfortable. The staff is so friendly and the owner is always so kind. Great variety on the menu and they have a delicious selection of light/medium/dark roast coffee. Highly recommend this neighborhood place. One thought...I wonder if they’d ever consider selling Feel Good’s pastries...I don’t think I’d ever leave if they did!
Well prepared food and drink, nice ambience, generally it draws an amicable crowd. Service? Depends on who is manning the barricade. All that is overrun by the split service. That is, having to stand in two different lines, sometimes three times, for same order. After five years, roughly a dozen visits, and three Google review revisions, sometimes it takes awhile for the coin to drop. Enough!
