Avis sur Papito Alameda
This place was cute. They have indoor and outdoor space but I would recommend getting there early or making a reservation. I went on a Friday afternoon and the place started getting packed around 3PM. The service was great, we did have one server but the servers seem to proactively help one another out so the table has coverage. I order a burrito but as a bowl and there was sooooooo much food. The Carne asada protein option was extremely well seasoned and did not disappoint. The Jalapeño margaritas had the right amount of bite to it though I would add a floater to it. The bathroom was nice and clean when I went.
Amazing service and delicious food! Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. I had their Burrito Mojado which is a wet burrito filled with Spanish rice, black beans, pico, guacamole, monterey jack cheese, and sour cream. The whole thing is baked and topped with red and green sauce, more cheese, sour cream, and onions. Delicious and SO filling. It was the size of a small child so needless to say, I did not finish it. I choose carnitas for the burrito and the meat was super tender and flavourful. I figured I should eat a vegetable so I also got their roasted Brussels sprouts. These were really good in spite of their vegetable status. I came on Cinco de Mayo so they had a number of specials including a Strawberry Horchata. Well, you can’t say no to that, can you? Great vibes here. It’s like one big party and everyone makes you feel like family!
January 2025: Came here for an early dinner and tried the steak 🥩 burrito and chips and guacamole 🥑. Both were okay. Guacamole had a lot of lime 🍋🟩 juice that resulted in a little sourness. November 2025: Stopped by for brunch and tried a kale Caesar salad with grilled chicken and the carnitas enchiladas. Both were excellent 👍. We were asked if we wanted jalapenos and we were charged an extra $1 per dish. Didn't know they would charge us extra and would have passed on the jalapenos. Wish they would have been more upfront and transparent that it was an extra charge. We actually didn't eat them because the dishes didn't need it.
We were walking by and saw a guy eating a massive juicy burrito. So we stopped in for dinner. My partner ordered the Burrito Mojado spanish rice, black beans, pico de gallo, jack cheese, guacamole, sour cream. topped with red or green salsa, melted cheese, sour cream, carnitas. He loved it. I got the Ceviche and it was also great. Service great, the vibe is great too. We will be back.
Very excellent super burrito... had it with steak and it was so juicy and flavorful. The bar is a nice spot to watch the cooks and have a drink. On a rainy night I felt like it was the right place to be- good, quick service and delicious food.
Great location in the Hayes District of SF. Enjoyed the ambience, and selection of food. This is not just a burrito stop but so much more!!! In the last four days during my visit, today will be my third time we're stopping. Why look around for good eats when you've found one. Service is fun and on it! I would highly recommend this place for authentic Mexican food!!!
I had previously been to the Potrero location but recently went to the Hayes one as well. There were 4 of us with 2 dogs and still got seated very quickly. Throughout the meal the service was great! The fundido was really tasty and the Guac was also top notch. For mains we had a couple things to share but the quesadillas are great with a decent selection of fillings, but the burrito I had was HUGE and very, very good. We also had a pitcher of a spicy margarita which was not sweet and had a nice kick to it. All in all, we'll be back!
I’ve been coming to Papito frequently during the last couple of years. Everything I’ve ordered has been delicious, but the enchiladas are the star attraction. Recommend the carnitas! The drinks are really great too, I love their margaritas and sangria. The service is attentive and friendly. Highly recommend for when you’re in Hayes Valley!
This was a very unique Mexican restaurant located in a very lively area of San Francisco. This restaurant gets special credit for the wonderful atmosphere, the great service, and the location which is hard to beat. The food here is pretty good, and although not the best for this type of restaurant, it was certainly unique and worth the visit. This restaurant offers a variety of Mexican dishes from tacos, soups, and other dishes, such as tortas and enchiladas. The mole enchiladas were amazing. The trees taco could probably be improved by putting just a little bit less salsa and more meat. And maybe having the potatoes be crispy instead of soaked. Otherwise, all the other items we tried were amazing. The cocktails are also really good. If you come here, you should try the charred jalapeño margarita. They also have a variety of beer on draft and in bottles if you want. The location here is great. If you can find parking, there’s also a small park within half a block away with plenty of benches to hang out in a coffee shop and other places to get dessert if you want. There’s always something going on in this area so it’s kind of a cool spot to come to if you want to kill a couple hours. The service was very friendly, fast and efficient. We were able to eat in about 15 minutes after sitting down. The prices are also pretty reasonable. For San Francisco the prices were below what I expected, which is great. Definitely worth visiting the spot if you’re in the area if youre a fan of Mexican food and cocktails
A review from a vegan point of view: The staff, especially the man whom we met outside of the doors, is super sweet! Our server ordered me a fish/baja taco instead of veggie taco and then made that face “uh-uh” and tried to convince me that I ordered fish taco and our whole group of 4 was like “what?” There is no plant-based protein offered and I was hungry, so naturally I didn’t want to go there but we did have a good time, the ambiance is nice (they do offer veggie quesadillas with non-vegan cheese and veggie enchiladas but not sure if it can be made vegan either). While I’m not personally asking to add vegan sour-cream or vegan cheese I’d very much appreciated to have veggie fajitas, please. The server did bring a veggie taco eventually but seemed unhappy, everything comes with cheese so make sure to tell no cheese. We shared an order of guacamole which also came topped with cheese… I had a regular beer and my friend ordered non-alcoholic beer that had a “vegan” mark on it.
Had a bunch of tacos with a friend. My favorite were the fish and pork shoulder tacos. Duck was pretty solid too. 5 dollars a taco which is standard SF pricing but could do with a little more content for that price. Overall a good go to spot in Hayes Valley. Better tacos to be found elsewhere in the city for sure though.
Second review: Against my better judgment, we gave Papitos another try and this time it was worse. We had a couple of late night burritos and we couldn’t even finish them; they made us both really sick, almost immediately. So disappointing. First review: I ordered the chicken mole and it was literally just onion filling with some pieces of chicken. Also the meat from the carnitas tacos was really old and dry Never again
