Avis sur Arthur & Sons Albee Square
I don’t know why it’s taken me so long to visit Arthur and Sons especially when I’ve heard nothing but good things. The food here is phenomenal and seasoned to literal perfection. The appetizers alone let me know I was about to have a great dinner. The Fried Calamari and Caesar Salad was so filling that by time our entrees came we knew they were coming home with us. The atmosphere is very cozy with good music to go with it. Thank you to the staff for being so attentive and giving wonderful recommendations, the Shrimp Alla Fantasia did not disappoint. I will 100% be back!
Absolute banger!!!! Staff was super friendly, our particular server was a doll, pandora playlist was fire (Michael Jackson playlist), Food… NEXT level… got the meatballs, spicy vodka dish and the lemon cream pasta dish… insanely good! I read a 1 star review about how awful their table was next to the kitchen… i believe we had the same table or something close to it, there was also other “open” tables when we arrived… but by the time we left the place was slammed… and the table was not awful at all! Felt cozy.. maybe have an open mind. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SPOT! I mean when you have Pizza Hut chandeliers u know it’s legit…
I went for lunch during the week, so it was less busy than the weekends, but this place has a charm of its own and it was worth eating here. The service was great and attentive, along with the ambience they were playing great classic songs, the decor was amazing with pictures of the owners family??? but it felt personal, making it feel like home. The food is AMAZING, from their homemade bread dipping oil (with great garlic flavors), along with their cheesy bread, their pasta dishes are delicious and cooked just right, my favorite dish was the Fusilli alla Lemon! It was great in flavor and light to eat. ORDER THE MEATBALLS! Its their most popular dish. The dessert are amazing from their limoncello cheesecake to their Spumoni My Way (was my favorite!!!) if you love pistachio this is the dessert for you!
Definitely worth all the hype. Our server’s name was Matthew and he was incredibly nice and gave us all the details about the menu. All of our appetizers were really good except for the baked clams(not my favorite). THE GARLIC BREAD WAS ACTUALLY INSANE. Spicy rigatoni was actually so busss. Combining with the chicken parm( huge portion btw) was the best choice we made. Their menu is intended to share so be mindful when ordering. One thing I love about this place is that they make everything in house so everything is so freshhh.
I’ve had such good experiences the times I’ve gone to the restaurant. I feel like they need more reviews and get more credit for their amazing food & drinks! I can’t help myself when I go to get an espresso martini, with a rigatoni alla vodka & & chicken cutlet with mozzarella! Service is always great! Give them more credit !! For my husband & I it was between here & Carmines ! & well Arthur & Sons won ! I have gone several times to this amazing restaurant! When I had stopped in for lunch, it was quiet & relaxing vibes!
I was told this place had the best vodka pasta in New York City. I can't confirm that but I can't confirm this was the BEST vodka pasta I've had in New York City so far! Wow! I can't wait to return to try it again. to be on the healthier side we ordered a side of broccoli in a garlic olive oil sauce. The broccoli taste like it was microwaved. Add zero flavor unfortunately. They still get five stars because of the pasta and the great service from our waitress. I'm sad that I wasted money on the broccoli but it was a healthy treat on top of the decadent vodka sauce which once again... was amazing!!! Next time I'll get the Caesar salad which looked amazing on someone else's table.
What a fantastic dining experience! My family of four enjoyed an early dinner at Arthur and Sons. We were lucky enough to be seated upon arrival. We started with the fried mozzarella which was delicious. Next came the AMAZING bread and dipping sauce. We ordered rigatoni with vodka sauce, rigatoni with bolognese, the chicken Vesuvio, and my youngest enjoyed buttered pasta with a side of meatballs. The 1/2 plate of cannolis were the perfect way to end the already fantastic meal. The service was on point making the experience even more enjoyable. Arthur and Sons is a true gem!
Tasty Italian spot in a good location right on the corner. The pasta was extremely well cooked and the sauce was incredible. Not the cheapest, but geez it’s soo good. I know it’s just a salad but the Cesar salad was one of the best I ever had too. The service was also quality and quick. He also let us place a late to go order and was very accommodating. There is a small dinning area in the main part of the restaurant but they have more space next door.
Such a great place and really good mix of food, particularly for a larger group. There’s not much of a critique other than finding someone to help you can be quite slow and a bit inconsistent with who your waiter or waitress is. But to be clear, the food comes out pretty fast and it taste great. My suggestion is they just slow that down a bit and I understand you want to turn the tables around, but just a little patience with your guest. This restaurant has a great thing going. It was our third time and honestly, it’s family friendly, great for date night and for friend’s night out. Nice spot!
The artichoke was by far the best dish out of everything we ordered. The Caesar salad was also very good. I tried the famous penne alla vodka, which was delicious, but it didn’t taste any different from a regular alla vodka. I also didn’t really enjoy the crispy chicken; I don’t think it matched the flavor of the pasta.
The point of my review is to say this place is a little confusing. It’s clearly for the ambience more than the food. Our chicken was overcooked. The spicy pasta was not spicy whatsoever and the set up is designed so that you’ll order family style so it’s not very suitable for less than 4 to 6 people. Four people might even be a stretched. I’m not sure if you’re ordering family style for four people really. The food starts at $35 without proteins. Maybe this is a better experience when you have a larger party, but I was pretty underwhelmed and felt like there were other options in the area, we just so happen to want to give it a try because of all the nice reviews, but I don’t think it lived up to the hype. The staff was great though, very nice people. Wait can we long so definitely get a reservation.
Baked clams and artichoke “piccata style” were really good to start with. Spicy rigatoni was good, we did ask the server to not make it as spicy since we know they definitely deliver the heat with that dish. The old school Sunday gravy rigatoni was my favorite dish of the night. The meatballs are so soft and seasoned perfectly, pairing perfectly with al dente pasta. & of course I had to get the classic dirty martini. It is a pricey spot, but it is the city & at least you do get big size portions!
Ive seen videos of this place and decided to give it a shot. First of all the bread and oil was great and the Caesar salad was also great. We ordered the spicy pink rigatoni (came without an ounce of spice) and the veal valdestano sub for chicken. The valdestano was good not great for the price tag it had. Now lets get into the pink vodka rigatoni. Pink vodka must be a staple that an Italian American restaurant must nail. This was probably one of the worst pink vodkas ive had. It was sweet, creamy and no tomato taste. It was honestly not much better than jarred sauce which is ridculous. We ordered it with burrata which was a 13$ add on. Im just so shocked that this 40$+ dish of pasta was not even “ok”. Am i missing something? Service was great tho and nice atmosphere 🤷♂️
I will start noting that all of the staff were very nice and pleasant. Just about everything else was not. I booked an early reservation for an anniversary. At arrival, we were told to leave the restaurant and go find the restaurant two doors down to be seated there. The other location was a very different scene that was not advertised online or through the resy app. It was more of a pizza shop atmosphere with checkered tablecloths and filled with smoke from the kitchen. Normally I wouldn’t care but we were trying to have a nicer evening. I politely asked to be seated in the main restaurant for our special occasion and was given a table in the back corner of the restaurant basically in the kitchen where it was easily 85 degrees. After taking a loss with the seating situation, we ordered our drinks and dinner with our exceptionally nice waiter. We had the sausage and peppers (good), the Chicken Vesuvio (way too sweet and nothing like the traditional dish) and the spicy rigatoni (good but not worth anything close to the price). After being served, nobody checked on us for the rest of the evening. Ultimately, my girlfriend and I both got ill from dinner about two hours after leaving the restaurant, which lasted all throughout the night. Even if we didn't get sick from the overpriced dishes, this just doesn't compare to the caliper of West Village dining. For the same prices, better off trying a tried and true Italian restaurant like I Sodi, Bella Blu, Carmines, or Scarpetta.
Food is mediocre! I seen good reviews on social media (tiktok) and was visiting NY over the weekend an decided to try it out. I had a reservation which if you cancel they charge 45$/person and thats the only reason i decided to go. Extremely low lighting to the point i had to use my phone light in the bathroom. The restaurant is extremely small we asked them to move our table so i can sit down without hitting the person behind me. The waiter said the tables are spaced so people can still walk behind you to serve others. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone nor will i return 120$ for average food.
