It's my second time here to see top notch underground House DJ's. I appreciate that those who showed up are actual house heads who come to enjoy the music and craft of the selectors. The entire public records crew do a great job of keeping things moving and ensuring we have a good time. While there are the girlies and bros who don't dance and take space on the dance floor talking killing the vibe, they are usually gone by 1am and then the real house heads can enjoy. Can't wait to come back!

Came here for a friend's birthday. I didn't know what to expect but I was absolutely mindblown. Every dish was the best dish. There are real artists working in the kitchen. Our cocktails hit. The dessert was phenomenal. Huge shout out to our server/ our guide Roue. She was a huge part of our experience. Highly recommend everything here. & the music 🤌🏾✨️

One-of-a-kind venue—café, vegan restaurant, record shop, live music space all in one industrial-chic spot . State-of-the-art sound system delivers pristine clarity, lineup is eclectic: ambient, Pakistani folk, Iraqi techno, Swedish pop . Sustainability-focused, artisanal coffee, cozy vibe. Perfect for music lovers seeking something different. A true cultural hub.

This is one of the most “Brooklyn” restaurant/cafes I’ve been to in the borough. As a non-vegan, the food was exceptional and probably had the best cup of coffee I’ve had in a while. The atmosphere is what ties this all together, upon getting seated I realized how well the acoustics sounded topped off with some J Dilla to really set the mood. Me and the wifey are coming back with friends!

Great vibe, very chill when we went but I can tell it'll be buzzing at other times. Love the sound system, the cocktails and the vegan menu!

Amazing night of house. Soul Summit forever! The crowd was hype, the music was on point and the sound system is incredible. Public Records is that place.

Went here for dinner, wonderful inventive vegan menu that was tasty for me (non vegan) and vegan girlfriend. When you enter for dinner or just a walk-in drink, coffee, etc,. I love the magazine area and small record store at the front. Labneh and celeriac skewers on current dinner menu were both fantastic. Wonderful vibe, great selection of music playing, server was delightful, would recommend. Only note is someone will probably inevitably turn their phone light on while you are dining. Would return!

My husband took me here on an early birthday date to dinner and a record launch show (Eleri Ward). This vegan café seriously undersell themselves. The food is reasonably priced and yet gourmet caliber. Nuanced, layered flavors and so so delicious. We got the fingerling potatoes (WOW), celeriac skewer (Whaaa and wow wow wow!), the tacos (very good), and the tahini hibiscus cheesecake with the most delicious toasted vegan meringue on top. They also really seem to go out of their way to make it feel like a special celebration with bookend congrats via champagne for both of us and then the dessert with candle at the end. Then we had a fun time at the concert afterwards. Couldn’t believe we got all that for under $75. I’ve found a new fave spot for sure!

Fantastic restaurant with the loveliest ambiance. I came for lunch on a Sunday and was blown away by the menu. The dishes are creative and seasonal. I got the tofu burrito, which left me in awe. The ingredients were simple, but were put together thoughtfully. I tried the rosemary pumpkin spice latte, which was an elevated take on a drink that tends to be overdone. This was amazing and I’m already craving another one. I would trust anything they have on the menu to be incredible after this experience. Highly recommend!

What a cool interior and pricey menu for fancy vegetables! The entrance gives off a record label vibe. The interior gives off cool, Brooklyn, artsy, plant vibes. All the dishes had beautiful presentation. We ordered four plates to share between two people.

This is *the* spot. Insanely good vibes. Vinyl playing. Cool people working. Coffee + pastries available when you walk in OR you can get seated + order a full meal. We came on a Sunday for brunch. Menu was 10/10. Will def be back. Apparently it turns into a club at night. 🫡🤞🏼✨🪩

Public records a restaurant during the day and at night turns into a club. Beautiful sound systems and both rooms in the restaurant and in the main room. They also have a 3rd floor with a decent sound system as well. They booked tons of house d j's from all over the world. The pictures that I'm going to post are from the descendant party from Afro House

Great vibes, outstanding cold brew, and friendly staff. Public Records is an approachable and upscale hangout vibe for the culturally curious who also appreciate specialty coffee. The outside may be brick, but the inside is hip. The once animal shelter is now a green and chic coffee chop, restaurant, and bar. It’s spacious, plant-filled, and industrial-chic with background beats bopping from the bass-heavy sound system. Patio, plants, and presentation room with presence. Join the welcoming and eclectic mix of customers in one of the many seats simmered in natural light. The drip coffee is a subtle and balanced light/medium roast from Ethiopia. Highly drinkable, and approachable for those dipping their toes into coffee without milk. The cold brew is the clear standout. It’s delicate, light, and refreshing; perfect for a spring or summer day. Smells like a tropical, guava cocktail, and makes me feel like I’m on the beach. It’s hard to leave this place! Drip coffee score: 4/5. Everything else score: 5/5. Overall score: 4.5/5.

I rarely say this, especially while I’m still at the restaurant, but I will definitely be coming back — and I want to show this place to all my friends. It’s truly a fantastic spot! I loved every dish we tried. The staff was incredibly welcoming and friendly, the ambiance was wonderful, and even the background sounds added to the charm. There’s just one thing that needs improvement: the toilets are overloaded and have a strong smell.

enjoyed their cocktails and the dessert a lot for my birthday. the hostess was very sweet and the atmosphere was adorb - both in the dining room and in the garden with string lights on. can recommend tom in the afternoon (a light and smooth sour) and the tahini hibiscus cheesecake (the kind of saltiness in a cheesecake was a very unique flavor profile). the food was not bad but also did not stand out too much. they did do a good job with the mushroom skewers - they tasted really like meat.

This spot in Brooklyn is a hub for culture. They are mindful of the planet (without making a big deal about it, which is very cool), and the staff is equally cool. The space itself is stylish, and I was so impressed by its sophisticated vibe that I ended up buying some records and apparel. In the evening, it turns into a reservation-only restaurant, and they frequently host music events. I would love to create a place like this!

This place was great! I didn’t know it was a vegan spot before I arrived (that’s my fault for not checking) but my cousin wanted to go to a listening bar so we went. Unfortunately we went on a Tuesday night (another mistake) and it was basically just a restaurant, which we were a little disappointed about. However we still had a good time. The service was extremely friendly, and I really enjoyed my meal. The cheesecake was fantastic, and our drinks were so tasty. Really recommend this spot!

Can’t speak for the restaurant but have been here many times. They have a great sound system (maybe one of the best), free water, and many bathrooms. Drinks prices were slightly above average and the staff is nice. My only qualm is the crowd can be unpredictable. There have been a few shows I have been to where the crowd seemed to forget that they are at a dance show. One particular instance was at an Overmono DJ set where multiple people were upset at dancers because they just wanted to observe. Another downside but completely out of control is that sometimes for their outdoor shows you can smell Gowanus 😷

Ugh pr would be my most perfect club in theory: excellent sound systems, different rooms, good beverage list, good lighting and not overcrowded But why for some reason it attracts so many people who just stand there on their phones? I wish they would do something about phone policy, the bookings are outrageously good and then you go and its people standing around dead faced in the front row and look at you crazy for actually dancing to the music.

I was here for an event to listen to a new record that was being released tonight. It was a bit confusing once we arrived… there’s a restaurant, a club downstairs, a lounge/listening room upstairs. We initially went inside the restaurant and were told to go wait outside until a black door opened. When it opened, we stood in line to get our tickets and IDs checked but were told by the staff that we were upstairs, so we had to go back outside and enter another black door. We ended up going upstairs to the listening room that had a small bar in the back. It’s a nice area; brightly lit during the day but intimate once the sun sets but extremely hot inside (they only had the windows open). Got a couple of beers (from Threes Brewing) to drink while listening to the entire record. It was pretty cool since the artist, Eliana Glass, was sitting right next to us since her friends were sharing a table with us. We didn’t realize it was her until we overheard their convo. She ended up performing a couple of her songs live. Definitely an interesting experience that we would have no clue about if Spotify hadn’t informed us of the free ticketed event.

Public Records has a quirky layout that can be a bit confusing at first. For a recent music event, guests had to enter from a different entrance, check in at the back, and then head to the main venue at the front, with a small lounge upstairs. It felt like a bit of a maze! However, the place is cozy and beautifully decorated, with plenty of natural light. It’s a great spot to relax and enjoy some leisure time with friends, despite the unusual setup.

We went to the bar/club with friends. It’s a nice location in Brooklyn. However, the experience wasn’t that great. They sold way too many tickets and couldn’t accommodate the number of people inside.…

Had a great night, DJs were great but it seemed like nobody was dancing and just chit chatting all over the dancefloor? Seems like a much younger crowd. (22-25) I guess in Boerum Hill there is no other comparable venue. No hate it was my first time here and I had a wonderful experience with my friends. Thank you ❤️💕

Sunday day party was amazing 5/5. Thursday club night however was very disorganised. Understaffed and stressed staff, who were short tempered with everyone - I felt really sorry for them. They had this ridiculous situation where the entry queue and cloakroom queue where the same. And if you wanted to leave you had to queue up again with the people trying to enter. Never been to a club with that kind of system before - a flawed system creating tension between customers and workers. Walking into an establishment where the workers are clearly unhappy doesn’t set a great tone for the evening. Makes everything seem sinister. Such an amazing space - Hope they create better systems for their workers in future.

Beautiful space, but I didn’t feel welcomed This was a solo visit, and unfortunately I didn’t feel welcomed upon arrival. At the host stand, there was visible frustration when I chose not to share my phone number to be seated. The interaction felt uncomfortable and uninviting, and for a moment I wasn’t sure I would be seated at all, which set a discouraging tone for the experience. Once seated, the service improved. The waitress was lovely and professional throughout the meal. One small point of discomfort was during payment, when the card reader was held while prompting for a tip, which felt a bit awkward. The food was underwhelming. The burger in particular was quite mushy, with a texture closer to mashed potatoes than a traditional burger, which detracted from the enjoyment of the meal. The space itself is beautiful, but the overall atmosphere felt cliquey, adding to the sense of not fully feeling at ease dining alone.

If I were rating the food alone, it would easily be five stars. The chef is exceptional—everything my wife and I have tried so far has been outstanding. On this visit, we came for brunch and enjoyed the labneh toast, the fried mushroom sandwich, and one of my all-time favorites, the Hokkaido French toast. The labneh and French toast in particular were perfectly balanced, with every ingredient complementing the next. Unfortunately, the service was a completely different story. On our previous visit, we were helped by a male server who was friendly, attentive, and offered great recommendations. This time, however, our experience was the opposite. Our server—a woman wearing glasses and a bucket hat—barely engaged with us. After briefly stopping by to ask if we were ready to order (we weren’t yet), she disappeared for a long stretch, even though the restaurant wasn’t busy. Once she finally took our order, the food arrived quickly, but she never checked on us afterward. When we finished, she dropped the check on the table without a word, avoided eye contact, and returned only to collect the cash we left—again, silently. There was no “How was everything?” no “Thank you,” not even a simple acknowledgment. The whole interaction felt cold and robotic, which was especially disappointing given how warm and thoughtful the food itself is. We still left a 20% tip out of habit, but frankly, the service didn’t merit it. Hospitality should be about more than a curated aesthetic—it’s about making people feel welcome and cared for. Sadly, that was completely missing from our experience today.
