Avis sur Sun Sai Gai Restaurant Albee Square
The food was great, featuring Changfen and Pork Fried Rice. The staff members were courteous and proficient in both English and Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese). Payment is accepted only in cash.
the restraurant has a A for health grades and $15 for beef chow fun the portion size was huge it could feed 2-3 people. beef broccoli for $10 was also very good.
a real godsend after biking down from harlem in the blizzard. i love when they bring you tea first thing. it was slow inside and the folks working there had a really sweet vibe working together and talking amongst themselves. quick and amenable service and DELICIOUS braised tofu. good price for the portion sizes too.
Found this place because we went to an ice cream shop nearby. The food is authentic and excellent. The service was great. We were acknowledged when we walked in and directed to a table. Menus and tea were brought to our table as soon as we were seated. Our food arrived within ten minutes of ordering and was enough for two meals. I'll be back the next time I'm in Chinatown.
Friendly service, quick serving time, free hot tea warms the appetite. Got the roast pork which was amazing, duck and the wonton soup great as well. Amble Seating but area is crowded cozy ambiance
The food was amazing. The staff made sure we had a great experience and we were well cared for. The hot tea on a cold day was an added bonus. The fried gyoza were delicious. It’s cash only and the bathroom is tiny so heads up on that. But the food was hot, came out quickly, was exquisite, and affordable with a friendly staff.
Ate here in July. Everything our party of four ordered was excellent. As I find myself in the city again searching for a place to eat in Chinatown I can't pass up contemplating going back to this restaurant, that how good it was. For any first timers just remember it's cash only no cc which I believe is fairly common in Chinatown.
Reliable trusted Cantonese lunches and rotisserie for decades -- the best. There is a lot of indoor seating, and it's conveniently located near the Canal Street subway station. I love Salt and Pepper Pork Chop, and Chinese Pickled Veggie/Sauerkraut with Beef. Of course I also love their duck and roast pork. Be ready back, I need to eat now
This is the perfect Chinese crispy duck crispy pork belly restaurant. It survived the pandemic for a reason. Their seasonal green vegetables were crispy, flavorful, and tender. They were lightly drizzled with oyster sauce but, only a little bit and in no way overwhelmed it. My friend and I both ate our fill and, still had enough of the duck lo mein with its porky porky goodness to have as a dinner entree or lunch the next day . Take a look at the bill and, you will say you can't get better value for money, especially when you're eating real clean, true food. I always make sure to tip at least 20% in places like this.
When you entered, the server was immediately attentive. It gave me an Auntie house can of vibe. Where anyone can find a seat and sit down. Strangers eating together on the same table, which is something new for me. The server was amazing and friendly she immediatelyprovidedus with hot tea. My friends even tried their Chinese beer. The food was so fresh. Will definitely return.
Amazing restaurant! I always order some sort of meat over rice, with my favorite being the roasted duck—it's incredibly delicious and fresh. The restaurant offers plenty of indoor seating and a diverse menu selection. Service is consistently friendly. Just a heads up, they only accept cash, at least the last time I was there. Highly recommend!
Best Chinese restaurant I've been too in a long while. We stumbled upon it haphazardly looking for another place to eat that was closed when we showed up. Their roast duck is to die for. Spring rolls vegetable are crispy and not oily at all. You should try their pecking duck rolls are my favorite appetizer there. But what I like the most is the atmosphere. You don't feel rushed, they'll be patient with you and recommend dishes to you, and above all else, they keep that green tea flowing to accompany your meal. We sat there enjoying our meal and never did they make us feel like we were lingering. And the best part? They don't "demand" a certain amount tip likeany other places show in the reviews with servers being pushy about tips. The service and the food are top notch. Definitely one of our stops from now on when visiting NYC.
I am not writing this review to tell you what to do with your hard-earned money. I am going to share my thoughts and you make your own decision if you would like to try this place or not. I been going to this restaurant since I was a kid in the 90's. I absolutely love this restaurant. The food is always fresh and flavorful. For a restaurant in the hart of Chinatown this restaurant prices are a bargain. Free tea is included with your food.
I ran into this place by accident cuz I needed to use the power outlet to recharge my cell..soo i ordered a wonton w ribs and bruh...that was bomb.com!!especially during cold winter weather! The ambiance felt like your in one of them hole in the wall.mom and pop breakfast spots in Hong Kong w coffee or tea already served at your table. Cool place to grab lunch or shrimp cheung fun (rice roll) as a snacker.
Just know before you go. Hole in the wall. Real deal Chinese food. They barely speak English but the food is so good. Place is tiny and the server was super nice but he essentially changed our orders to "better" choices (he wasn't wrong). We wanted the lychee duck, the server changed it to regular half duck. We got pork lo mein. The Lo mein had a hint of tanginess. The pork was delicious moist perfectly seasoned, not salty. The noodles are the real deal not overly oily and not overcooked. The star of the show/meal was the duck! Holy moly the duck was out of this world melt in your mouth not gamey at all. The duck was the real deal so watch for small bone fragments.if you need to go to the bathroom this is not the place. This place was recommended by a local who's been in the area for decades so they know.
A local shop serving simple food for as long as I can remember. We came here specifically for the roast duck. $18 for 1/2 duck The place is not much to look at and I would have 2nd thoughts about bringing a date here. But the food & noodle soups are good. 👍 Also great value for the price & portion. Just bring your appetite
Old building, could use some cleaning and upgrades. The bathroom definitely needs cleaning. The price was a bit on the high side but they were delicious. Ordered shrimp Lo Mein, some chicken dish and beef dish. All were so delicious! Service could have been a little nicer but they just there to work not really serving customers, not rude but not really friendly either.
The food was pretty good. This place has a genuine feel. Portions are pretty large. 2 people can probably split a meal. My wife and I got fried rice w/chicken and fried rice w/duck. Both tasty but really we should have split one. We shared a bowl of egg drop soup which was pretty standard in taste. My wife also ordered 2 spring rolls. We were satisfied but not wowed. Service was a little slow but it was also pretty packed when we were there.
