Restaurant week was great! We'll be back.
Fabulous creative cuisine - wonderful romantic ambiance
The veal ragu was amazing.
We've eaten here several times over the years, and it's always an excellent experience. Great flavors that are familiar but not boring, good and affordable wine options, and just the right combination of friendly and unobtrusive service. Italian can be flat-out boring, but not here. Try it - you'll like it.
Great food and super meticulous service. This is my husband's and my favorite place for a quiet and romantic dinner in Old Town. Our waiter Hector was a gracious host and made our experience unforgettable.
I went there a few nights ago, and had the Osso buco, with the saffron risotto, It was unbelievable. I'm going tonight for the Lobster risotto, can't wait! Highly recommend.
My wife and I always happy to enjoy dinner at Geranio. The food, services, cozy atmosphere are this place the best italian restaurant. Highly recommend!
The food and the service here are always top notch. Combine this with a quaint cozy ambiance and you have one of the best places in Old Town.
An old favorite. I'm glad it's still in Old Town. Service was good, food was excellent, and the price is right. A great value.
Some of the best Italian food I've had in the United States. Great place to go during restaurant week
Second time we've been. 5 star both times. Staff attentive abc food outstanding!
Very authentic Italian eatery with a nice selection of wines and very attentive waitstaff.
Food, drinks and service, all was great on a Saturday night. Been to few Italian places in Alexandria, Geranio is definitely one of best!
We enjoyed the food, but it was a bit expensive! The one thing that was worth it by far was the pesto gnochi for an appetizer. It was the best thing we ate!
Love the food and service here. Very cozy

the food, location
Geranio feels very much like a family restaurant. It's cozy and good for big groups. It is definitely one of the better Italian restaurants on King Street in terms of food (ugh DO NOT go to Il Porto, more like il garbage). Geranio Ristorante has a 40 year history on King Street and while it has its share of highs and lows, they offer consistently good food and polite service. The first time I came here, I had their linguini with rich mushroom and veal ragu ($19 for dinner). The second time, I ordered the lobster risotto with 1/2 a Maine lobster and lobster oil ($21 for dinner). While I liked both dishes, I much preferred the lobster risotto. I got a decent sized portion of lobster too (at least for me) even though I just ordered half a lobster. Combined with the risotto and lobster oil, it was delicious. Service was friendly and quick. Like I mentioned, great place for larger groups. Anytime I'm here or pass by, there's always at least one large table of family and friends having a great time.
Took my Mom and Dad with me to restaurant week. It was amazing! The food was delightful and the staff was attentive. Definitely have to go back for more!
it's OK place
The wine and service were excellent, but the food was just okay this time. I expect frozen calamari at a bar, but not at an Italian restaurant. The short ribs would have been better braised, as the slices were a bit tough. The seating arrangement detracted from the dining experience. Our table for two was set against another, which would have been fine if we were a party of four. My husband and I had to speak loudly to compete with the conversation of the other couple, and I felt like I had an audience for every word we spoke. I don't think we will dine here again soon.
Quaint atmosphere, clean place, friendly staff, good atmosphere, but subpar food during Restaurant week. I ordered the beet salad, penne tuna, chicken marsala, and tiramisu. The beet salad was very good! The flavors were well balanced. The penne was a miss, and didn't go well together. The chicken was on the salty side, and the tiramisu was average. My friends and I went there on a Thursday night, so the restaurant was half full, so I didn't expect the kitchen to rush our food, but based on the quality, it seemed rushed. The food was good, but the price (even for restaurant week) didn't match the quality of the food.
The food was above average, the service was below average, and the prices were higher than they were worth. Not a bad place by any means, but not a place I will probably go to again considering the great restaurants nearby.
The food tool forever to get to our tables. The food was good but nothing special. The portions was somewhat big.
Finally escaped this place. Based on the food, was going to give it a solid three stars -- good but far from the best I've ever had. Unfortunately, the service brought the rating down as far as Yelp will allow. It's Tuesday night. The place is all but dead - there was our table (two people) and two other tables. It's great that you wanted to give that drunk tourist-couple lots of personal attention and information about the area, but ...THEY WEREN'T THE ONLY CUSTOMERS IN THE PLACE. There's simply no acceptable reason for it to take longer to bring me the check than it took for us to order, receive and consume our meal. That, after such a duration, I *STILL* had to get up from my table and wave one of the busboys down so that they could find someone to get me a check - because the server was SO engrossed in the one other table is simply beyond the pale. As to the other table you were ignoring? They were pissed, too. Wonder if they gave you a tip at all. I felt bad leaving a short tip because the people that actually brought the food, kept my table bussed and my water glass full were doing their job. Even if the food were better than middling, the complete disregard for service means WE'RE. NEVER. COMING. BACK.
Worse restaurant experience ever! The restaurant was crowded, Day after Thanksgiving. It was so hot my husband was sweating. So noisy we couldn't hear the waiter tell us about the specials. The tables so close together that the waiters repeatedly bumped into the back of my husband's chair trying to squeeze through. Really annoying. The waiter insisted on picking up our water glasses to refill them after every sip. Not so bad except we noticed he was doing the same thing for other diners. Which means he was transferring their germs and god knows what else to our glasses every time. Just what you want, whatever is on the hands of 12 other people. Gross! That sure wasn't appetizing! Christ, haven't they heard it is flu season! We started (and finished) with a Ceasar Salad. It didn't taste right. Couldn't figure out why. The lettuce was wilted. By that time the heat had made my husband ill so we got the bill. Guess what? We couldn't read it because it was so dimly. Even next to the candle which we assumed was a failed attempt at making it romantic it was hard to make out the printing. The food is priced to perfection and unfortunately or fortunately (depending on your prospective) we didn't order a main dish so can't tell you what it was like. I can tell you though we will never return. Sad Sad Sad!
