Not bad for middle of no where. Burger and salmon were good. Fries were really good!
Locals are awesome and knowledgeable about the area to talk to. Deserts are homemade and delicious.
The people here were so nice...and the smell of fresh cookies made our mouths water!

The baked goods are phenomenal and the food is exactly what you want in a relaxing stop. The pecan oatmeal butterscotch pie is a life changing experience.
What a fun surprise on the road from Tahoe to The Potholes by Silver Lake. Cafe has great character and wonderful food! Service was super friendly.
Very cozy and friendly spot with delicious burgers and pulled pork sandwiches.
Had a great cappuccino and a hearty, tasty scone. Lots of random/fun stuff to look at. Cozy place with a couch and tables (inside and outside).
Rustic as you would expect at a back of beyond place like this. Breakfast is great. Order the sausage. Absolutely the best I've eaten.
The little cafe was so historical. It was as if I just stepped off of the stagecoach. I LOVED IT!!! I will be back...
Great pies, great burgers and friendly staff. Shannon was great. We will make this a must stop when we pass through.
Super nice people with a pretty cool cafe/bar. Stopped for breakfast and coffee. Glad I saw it in time to turn :)
Great burgers, cookies, nicely snarky staff, fun, cozy eclectic ambiance. A must stop on Hwy 88 out of or into Carson Valley, NV.😁
Cool little place right on the road. Good veiws from the picnic tables outside. And the chai tea and breakfast sandwiches really hit the spot.
Had a very lovely experience there! The baked goods looked phenomenal
Had a wonderful breakfast and the dessert is out this world friendly staff love this place
Wonderful food, friendly service, great spot to relax, grab a bite, and pick up a local souvenir!
Excellent blue-cheese burger and homemade potato chips. Good service and friendly people.
Went to grab a beer and met the owner and couple locals... Great place to belly up for a beer after hiking.
The food was excellent, the vibe was chill, and the people were friendly. Came down from a weekend of camping at showers lake with our dogs and we were all craving a burger (and beers for the humans). HV Bar&Grill did not disappoint! The lone guy working was awesome and even made some pup pattys for our dogs, serving them cut up on a metal tray.
This is an amazing little place to stop and get a burger 🍔 and some of the best pie around 👍👍 great friendly service and a very cozy atmosphere too
The pies are my favorite, but they have so much more(even ice & fishing supplies).
Good coffee, phenomenal breakfast burritos, and the perfect mountain cabin atmosphere.

Nice, clean, friendly nook to grab a cold one and some wings. They sell car tire cables, at a reasonable price.
We randomly stopped were while headed towards yosemite, i must say i would love to come here again! The place is warm and inviting, the lady who served as was friendly and smiling all the time. We ordered hot coco with cream and the delicious cookies that she bakes there everyday. Restroom is clean. She also helped as to find places to see in area. This place deserves a 5 star rating.
One of my favorite spots for lunch and a beer in the Tahoe Basin, particularly after riding a bike or cross country skiing through Hope Valley. The head chef and hostess, Letty, makes a stop here especially fun. Letty makes delicious pies, cookies, hamburgers and Tacos, which you can wash down with beer on tap from South Shore Brewery. Letty also makes the best french fries (IMHO) in the area. I would travel up from Lake Tahoe just for the fries and a fun conversation with Letty!!
Super cute little place out in the middle of LITERALLY NOWHERE but they make a delicious white chocolate mocha. I loved the local artwork and seamstress work. If I ever get lost over there again and find you I'll stop and get a sandwich. 💜 Thank you for being there.
As Australians on a road trip, my wife and I found this absolute gem of a cafe. The espresso coffee was amazing and the tastiest cakes and cookies we bought must be made by a godess in the kitchen! A must stop cafe for all travellers, and if it were closer to Sydney it would be a regular stop for a weekend drive.
Stopped in for a late lunch/dinner. We had a Burger and a Pulled pork. Fast service and tasty food.
Can't say enough about this place. The owner was so nice! I had the special and it was great! Good wine. My son loved the selection of beer. Roomy, clean, and service was great! A must stop over between Fresno and Mariposa!

Great. Huge, homemade cookies and pies!!!
Great turkey sandwich. Yummy fries.
God's food kind staff
Excellent pie! Great place to stop for a quick bite or drink at the Cafe
Great place to stop for coffee, food, and take a break in between some sight seeing.
Great rest stop for a cup of coffee and an excellent scone.
Very beautiful. Lots of travelers enjoying it so drive with caution. Sorenson's is so popular you cannot park and visit there unless you are staying or dining there.
it would be hard to give a place as informal as this five stars...it was a pleasant surprise over previous management...pleasant help...friendly...good burger...would definitely go back when going by at lunch...quiet...drop by on your eay by...keep them in business
Great hospitality from owner Leesa, signature hamburger was awesome. Unique ski lodge feel inside. Packed on weekends.
Great cafe.. Today is second time I am having house coffee & home made cookies.. wow it was great...
Usual stop when headed up to Blue Lakes...grab some beverages and the yummy baked goods for a delicious snack.
I've had mixed experiences here but it keeps getting better and it's a great location with a nice mountain ambiance.
Hope Valley Bar and Grill was open when everything else around wasn't. Basic bar menu with a few desserts. Indoor and outdoor seating available. We had buffalo chicken wraps with fries. Decent serving size, and a slice each of apple and peach pie. Dove into the pies before we got a pictures. Oh, well. As you can see, we finished them off.
It was about 20 minutes of wait time before we got a table which was a bummer for a week day. But everything else was nice. Comfortable seating, friendly staff, food good and atmosphere cozy. It's beautiful to come to this area in October. The aspens are a vivid yellow.
First time here. Unfortunately, little was open other than the espresso stand and minimal snack bar. However, it exactly met my needs at the moment and the mocha was very good!

Place was cute. Food was ok, but very overpriced.
Great food but service is aliitle slow. Beautiful setting and friendly staff. Its right next to a creek that was great for the kids while waiting for our food.
It's okay. Cute and nostalgic, okay coffee. But dont order chai tea. It was made with coffee???? I was confused
We had breakfast there. We were hoping to get pastries but there were none. We had to resort to breakfast burritos. It was pricier and took a lot longer than we expected. The black coffee was so so. In retrospect we would have been better off having breakfast at Sorensen's, where we were staying.

The lady behind the counter was not friendly at all
disappointed. Service was poor. Place was dirty.
Very fun but very expensive 12 pack of cans was $24.00
I used to love.this place. I haven't been in town in years. I brought my friend here and was so excited to share it with her. The food is still pretty good, but the service I got last time was a joke. The woman "serving" us was so rude that my friend and I couldn't stop laughing out of disbelief. $4 for the burnt heel of a loaf of sweet bread. I won't be coming back.
Wow.. Pretty heartbroken over the changes they made to this cafe. This was my favorite stop on my way home from xc skiing or Kirkwood... They stripped out all of the artistic character and charm it used to have and replaced it with an empty, cold bar lounge vibe with some shelves stocked with gas station products. Two stars because the employees were nice and I enjoyed my banana bread. But I will not be returning.
Stopped to stretch my legs after several hours of motorcycle riding. My hamster bladder was about to explode and I needed to use the restroom. It was brought to my attention the restroom was for paying customers only. So I paid the restroom ransom of $3.00 for a chocolate chip cookie.

Unfriendly, "Deliverance" vibes from owner
This place sucks. Wouldn't even let us walk in unless we promised to eat lunch.
Made me buy over priced goods just to use the bathroom. When we got out my truck wouldn't start, and while waiting for 2 hour to be rescued we had to use the bathroom again. The lady got irritated and told us that we needed to buy something everytime we needed to use the bathroom even though we weren't able to leave, and there is nothing else for miles. Would rather use the side of the road than visit this establishment ever again.
This is a place you stop at ONCE.. $6 for a watered down hot chocolate is BS!! Actually $5.39 but the change wasent really offered back and was expected to be a tip.. Now I know why the lot is ALWAYS empty... Never again!
This place said Cafe but we didn't stay, ppl were friendly but they had nothing for actual dining that was worth staying for, drove just a couple miles down the road to the KIRKWOOD INN AND IT WAS GREAT! so this place needs to get more organized and get a better MENUE!! that actually has some chose on it.
Rude staff. Mediocre food. Charged us $5 For black coffee?? Would never come here again.
I walked into a bare and very empty cabin remodeled and a bit too modern really . (which used to be full of laughter and conversation, niknaks and such , old pictures and signs) . It was different . The gal was standing in the center of the room and asked if she could help me , I was there for a breakfast to go, the menu was small and hard to tell what was Being served , she told me what they were out of and that breakfast was over and pointed to the board which posted the time served . All in all I was left to try the Mahi Mahi tacos. I paid $15 bucks. Got back to my spot for the day and opened my box to find two large tortillas with a small portion of breaded fish stick , little cabbage and sauce. Dry And without flavor the sauce is what saved me !To say it was even close to being worth the stop is an understatement . I liked the place before , the staff was more interested in pleasing their customers and community then making a buck off them, I would think that is what it takes to build a reputation in these thar woods!
I needed to use the restroom and we had to buy something to go. Okay fine. But when you have to pay $3.75 for a hot cocoa and then your fiancés truck breaks down and you have to wait 2 hours for his dad to come help you out and you have a small bladder and have to go again. They tell you that you can go but next time you can't just hang out and you will have to buy something else to go to the bathroom again or go somewhere else. I am sorry but THE TRUCK IS BROKEN! WE CAN'T GO ANYWHERE ELSE! The lady was VERY rude. I will NOT be coming here ever again!
So sad to see what has happened to one of my favorite spots in Hope Valley for over 20 years. The Hope Valley Cafe was one of the best bakery/sandwich shops. Yes, it was recently taken over but that’s no reason the “resort” can’t find a decent baker and gourmet sandwich chef. Even have a local area baker deliver. Today, I purchased a pumpkin scone which was very expensive so I thought it would be like it use to be, delicious. Not even close it was gross. It was like eating cooked bland dough, no flavor at all! No love into baking that, baked with hate even. Not anything close to what this place use to be like. We have given it a couple different try’s the last 12 months hoping it would get better after the pandemic. Nope. It’s like going into a deserted cave with no life. Very dark. There use to be a great store with local art, photography, groceries, seasonal items, fishing stuff, etc. Now it’s depressing, only ugly clothing that no one will buy. I guess the spirit of the place was the awesome baker that was there forever… The “pie lady of hope valley” is greatly missed. The lady that worked for her I believe has taken over and can’t bake and is rude and mean. We were surprised she was still there truthfully. it’s sad to see what has happened to such a great spot. I really hope Management reads this and wants to get it going again, locals can help! Lol I would even Manage it! 😂 just saying find someone that cares. You can tell it’s not cared for like it use to be. We won’t be going back until next year hopefully it’s better one day. Still hoping I guess. (Posting this review on other sites)
Wish we could give a black or zero stars. Does not look like the pictures at all. Server was so kind but the fact that her boss(the owner) was very loud and chewing on her in front of everyone was so sad. A customer beside us heard how surprised my husband and I were turned around and told us that she makes yummy pastries but that she is mean and treats the server like this all the time. Then it got worse when I took a bite of my first burger and gagged from the taste because of what I thought was a bloody burger, until I was served my second one and realized it was because the meat was rotten. Had to walk over and choose our drinks from ice chests. Looks like 3 tables put into a second hand store.
Rude service for awful coffee. We ordered some cappuccinos expecting moderate quality from a roadside stand. The result was some bitter fluid that vaguely resembled coffee. We asked for a dash of milk to mask the taste, were charged $3 per cup for a few tablespoons of milk. Either don't sell coffee or don't get offended when people ask you to make it right. Rude staff that nickel and dimes you for inferior goods. Will not return.
