Absolutely fantastic Indian pace. The food tasted authentic and they even had gluten free bread. Right in the heart of Amsterdam, close to central station. Well worth the visit. I will be back.
It was such a heartwarming experience. I was there with my husband on the night of Diwali. As an Indian, celebrating Diwali away from home can feel a little incomplete—but Rangoli truly made it special. The food was absolutely delicious, authentic, and full of flavors that reminded us of home. The service was warm and welcoming, and what really touched us was the complimentary gulab jamun served as Diwali sweets—a thoughtful gesture that meant a lot. The festive spirit, hospitality, and quality of food made our Diwali night memorable. Highly recommended for anyone looking for authentic Indian food and genuine hospitality in Amsterdam. Will definitely visit again! 🇮🇳✨
Uncle Kumar is the best and service is the best in whole netherland. You can walk few minutes from the central station. I love being in Rangoon restaurants. They are very sweet and good Owner.
I had a wonderful experience here! The food was absolutely excellent and tasty, with plenty of options for customization to suit personal preferences. The staff were extremely friendly, attentive, and provided excellent service. The ambience was also very good, making the overall dining experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommended!
Rangoli a south indian restaurant.its a busy street and by walking we can move to the most beautiful places. Rangoli is a very famous Indian restaurant and most of the local food lovers also enjoyed it here. For the whole day we were wandering beautiful places and so we have twice in a day enjoyed both lunch and dinner at Rangoli indian restaurant. I had a visit to Rangoli indian may 2023 during my Europe tour.
I eat there quite regularly since several years and I have to say the food has something unexpectedly good I haven't enjoyed up till now in other restaurants I have visited in the neighbourhood. Each time I leave thinking to myself this is the 'best food in the world'. Absolutely divine...out of this world! I grew up eating in my family tandoori restaurants btw.
My recent visit to Rangoli, a South and North Indian restaurant in Amsterdam, left me with a delightful culinary experience. The Mendu Wada and Idli Sambar were not only authentic but also perfectly executed, capturing the essence of South Indian flavors. The tea at Rangoli were a true highlight, offering a wonderful complement to the meal. The authenticity of the tea added an extra layer to the dining experience, making it a memorable venture into Indian cuisine.
Indian authentic restaurant having all delicious food like Dosa, Idli, Samosa and of course all meals. Indian tea was awesome. Fast service with good quantity and quality of food. Location of this restaurant within 200-300 meters from mail railway station. Recommended dishes:- Masala Dosa, Samosa Chat
I went here because of the reviews of the Dosa they serve here. I never had this and was curious. It was a surprise when it was served, exceeding the plate size on both sides... Pictures I had seen didn't indicate the size :-) But it was a very good experience, crispy crust and good Keema filling inside. Followed by Chicken Biryani, with plain naan and rice. Plenty of it and good sauce!
Rangoli Indian restaurant was a standout during our visit to Amsterdam. The food was amazing, with a wide variety of delicious chaat options. The location was convenient and the service was excellent. The atmosphere was also great, with a welcoming and friendly vibe. We ended up visiting Rangoli multiple times during our stay in Amsterdam because we enjoyed it so much. Overall, we had a fantastic experience at Rangoli and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Amsterdam and looking for delicious Indian food.
Just as every pther Indian restaurant, this one did not dissapoint me:) The food was amazing (just look at the pictures😋) and the staff was incredibly nice and attentive. I came here right after opening hours so there were not many people, which I really enjoyed. However, I am giving it a four-star review, because, in my opinion, the Naan bread was a bit dry (even though, I suppose, it is how it is supposed to be made). Anyway, best recommendations, hope to come back sometime in the future!:)
Good Indian food! Samosas were a little bland. Asked them for some spice and that helped it. The lamb spinach was amazing. A bit mushy for me but great tenderness and flavor!
During our tour with MakeMyTrip, led by our wonderful guide Ronnie, We stopped by this restaurant for dinner. The place was decent and pleasantly quiet when we arrived, which made for a relaxing dining experience. The food was excellent—every dish we had was delicious and satisfying. We also ordered a glass of red wine (not included in the tour package), which we happily paid for. What stood out to us was the service. We offered a tip, thinking it was the norm especially since we ordered drinks, but the server politely refused to accept it. It was quite impressive and honestly surprising, especially coming from the U.S., where tipping is a big deal. Overall, everything was great—the food, the service, and the atmosphere. One small thing to note: the restrooms were tiny! You could barely move around in there, but it was so compact it actually came off as kind of cute. Highly satisfied and would gladly dine here again!
I have visited on Kings day’24. I have ordered : Paneer tikka: Good Papri Chat: Okay Plain Dosa: Okay but I did not like chutney sambar which were given along with Dosa. Vegetable Biryani: Average I think this should be renamed as Vegetable Pulao rather Vegetable biryani. Then it would serve the purpose atleast to small extent. Mango lassi: Okay It’s a small restaurant and it’s near to central railway station. One/Two time visit.
One of the city's longest established Indian restaurants, Rangoli is an inviting Indian restaurant located at the beginning of Haarlemerstraat, not far from Central Station. The restaurant is well known for its authentic and flavorful Indian dishes and offers two distinct cuisines from North and South India. In the North, breads such as chapati and naan form part of the basic diet, which is influenced by Central Asian and Persian styles due to historical interactions and includes popular favourites like Chicken Tikka, Butter Chicken, Lamb Rogan Josh and a variety of Biryani dishes. Dishes from the South are generally rice-based and tend to be spicier than their northern counterparts. Dishes include dosa, idli, sambar, rasam, and a variety of coconut-based chutneys. The restaurant features a warm and cozy ambiance, with decor elements inspired by Indian culture. Menu items are reasonably priced. When using one of the popular delivery services, there is normally no extra charge for delivery.
So it was freezing cold and rainy outside when we went along to Rangoli before the Michael McInytre show later. Since our booking was early it was empty when we went before 6pm. It was cold in the restaurant and they weren’t going to put on the heating for just the 3 of us. The food was ok/very average. The spicing tasted a bit harsh and the vegetables overcooked. The prawns weren’t as tender as they should have been and the curry sauce wasn’t as delicious as it sounded on the menu. The garlic nan was v good and so was the Thali set menu. It filled a spot but it wasn’t the satisfying Indian meal we were hoping for.
The restaurant was warm and cosy which was definitely welcome on a cold, windy, and rainy day in Amsterdam. It says South Indian but that title does not look too accurate. The food was good but could have been better. We also did not see too many South Indian items on the menu. Calling this Indian restaurant would make it more accurate.
The food here was good. We tried the North Indian and the South Indian thali. The curries in the North Indian thali were good, esp. the dal and saag were nicely prepared. The South Indian thali was good too but the sambhar and chutney served with the dosa were okay to average. The staff is friendly and gave us some suggestions. Overall, a good Indian restaurant
Food and service was great. Best indian food I found here in Amsterdam and also during my trip through europe. Waiters are polite but are instructed by the owner for some reason to deny for water. Like how much effort is it for anyone to pour tap water and serve. Thats the most basic indian etiquette I expect when arriving in an Indian restaurant, that too being run by a fellow indian migrants.
Food was ok but not great at all. The service was a bit poor considering there weren't many people there. They forgot part of my friends order. By the time it was brought out we were half way through dinner. It's a first restaurant I came across in Amsterdam does not serve tap water, it's compulsory to buy a water bottle for 6.5 Euro. I would prefer to go to other nearby restaurant instead of picking this one.
During our visit to an Indian restaurant in Amsterdam, we were unfortunately met with disappointing service that left a sour taste, far removed from the warm hospitality we had hoped for. From the moment we arrived, the staff appeared indifferent and unwelcoming, barely acknowledging our presence. Our order took an unusually long time to arrive, and when it did, a couple of dishes were either cold or not what we had requested. Attempts to politely address the issues were met with dismissiveness, and there was little effort made to rectify the situation. While the ambiance had potential, the overall experience was marred by poor customer service and a lack of basic courtesy, which made us feel more like a burden than valued guests. It’s disheartening to see such a place miss the mark, especially in a city known for its diversity and hospitality. Not preferable to anyone
