I have never EVER been to a restaurant where I've loved every single thing I've ordered without wanting to change something, ie. "Needs salt, needs pepper, isn't hot enough, zero flavor, etc." I fell in LOVE with every single thing we ordered! I didn't have ONE critique, everything was perfect. The hummus was so fresh I was in awe, perfect chips and cucumber slices. The tomato bisque was seasoned perfectly, very very hot (it's my biggest pet peeve when soup isn't hot), we got the California club and it was perfect. The croissant was flaky and light, perfect addition. Delicious lunch meat, again, I'm the pickiest person alive and I could have just ordered a side of the meat. We also ordered the charcuterie board, and every bite was perfect. The presentation was beautiful, and it was a great size for 2. The chicken pot pie had to be my favourite. Fresh, super hot (how it should be), so flavorful, and just perfect. I will never go anywhere else for my chicken pot pie needs! Even the side SALAD was perfect, and I hate salad. Emily was our server and not only was she extremely attentive, personable, and quick, she was just so KIND. I felt so seen and appreciated as a consumer. She gave great recommendations and was so fun to talk to. It definitely added to the ambience of the place. Additionally, we found out that day that the restaurant is family owned! Mary is the owner, just as sweet as pie, and Shannon, her daughter, is equally as sweet! We raved to them over how delicious everything was, and their appreciation warmed my heart. I came back again yesterday and they all remembered me by name and made me feel even more welcome. From the pickiest girl on the PLANET: YOU NEED TO EAT HERE! 11/10 recommend! Also, you can get cocktails to GO!? in BATCHES!? It can't get any better. Thank you Emily, Mary, and Shannon for continued great experiences. I'll be back next week! :)
Well, I couldn't be happier that I tried this place. I went with two friends for lunch after some local LB shopping. We knew we were in for a great experience from the moment we walked in. It has a really cool vibe and a welcoming staff. The cocktail list was unique with many interesting options. Two of us decided on the Paloma and one had the Kumquat Ginger Margarita, both so delicious! Best Paloma I've had, hands down. They also have a great wine list, which we got into later with a wonderful Rosé. Choosing a dish for lunch was difficult because everything looked so good. We started with the House-made Kettle chips which came with a tasty chipotle ranch, yum! For meals, we went with the smoked salmon tartine, pastrami sandwich, and the Caesar with grilled shrimp. The food was beautifully presented and tasted as good as it looked. The sandwich was huge so I had the second half the next day for leftovers, still so good! I'm excited to have a new "go-to" place for great food & drinks, and cool a atmosphere. Oh, and totally reasonably priced! Win-win! Cannot wait to go back and take more friends :)
The Modern Kitchen is a hidden gem in LB. Every dish I have had is exceptional. You can tell when food is prepared with love. My go to dishes are the hatch chile dip, tuna melt and the homemade soups are divine. My favorites are the tomato bisque and Italian wedding soup. You will not be disappointed with any selection.
I came here with a big group, so we ordered a bunch of different things to share. I'm so glad we did! I had a margarita that was the perfect balance of sweet and spicy, the best Paloma I've ever had, and my favorite had to be the Fresh Peach Bourbon Smash. We tried all of the salads, which were fresh and flavorful. The tomato soup is to die for. The tartine was beautifully presented with edible flowers, hand pies were delicious, and the caramel tart was the perfect ending. I highly recommend this place, and look forward to going back to try the rest of the menu. It's great for a quick lunch or after work drinks.
I love this new spot! The cocktail list is seriously impressive and all of the cocktails we tried (there were a few) were insanely good. And then the food was drool worthy. I had the Caprese Tartine and it was so delicious. My boyfriend had the pastrami sandwich and loved the homemade chips and chipotle ranch that came with it.
Their soups - tomato bisque and pumpkin are bomb!! Also love the 1/2 sandwich 1/2 soup or Caesar salad combo. My fave sandwiches here are the tuna and chicken club. Sooo delicious!! 😋
The food is always great, and the service is too. I only wish it was open longer hours so I could enjoy it more often - but I'll gladly take what I can get! The Bolognese is amazing, and the Greek salad add chicken is a personal favorite.
Food and drinks were delicious! Everything was very reasonably priced for what you got - even the side salad was super tasty and unique. Only downside is that seating is limited, I recommend coming early if you’re getting lunch
Love this small restaurant at south side LGB airport. Very cozy and foods are very good. There is a small outside seating area with retractable shade.

Very good. Everything was great. Smiple things done in amazing ways. Tomato soup was incredible. Bread on the sandwiches green tea just high end food. Cute Quaint place.Home made potato chips. I'll be back thanks
I swear this place is an absolute must-go! The food is incredible, the atmosphere is clean and stylish, and the service is top-notch. All of our plates came out fresh and full of flavor, and the staff made the experience feel personal and welcoming. Whether you’re grabbing drinks or sitting down for a full meal, this place delivers every time. Highly recommend!
This is a wonderful little place, tucked into a large building on the ground floor. There's an excellent wines-by-the-glass selection (and bottles can be bought, too), and a wide array of appetizers and other things. I made a lunch out of beef carpaccio and chicken lettuce wraps - very nicely done. The ambience is modern and informal, with lots of kinds of seating - round tables, rectangular tables, small tables, a small outdoor seating area. If you're in the (somewhat industrial looking) area, this is a worthy spot to relax for a bit.
Wow! This is a hidden gem! Had a few hours until our flight out of Long Beach. Found this amazing spot for a coffee and was absolutely blown away by the owner(Shannon) and the menu! We ordered 2 coffees a sandwich and a cinnamon roll. The coffees were amazing, the owner made me a custom coffee. I asked for 'Something Sweet' and the drink was so good we ordered a 2nd one. Cinnamon roll was hot, sweet, and cream cheese frosted. Licked the bowl clean! Breakfast Sandwich was made with fresh ingredients and was so tasty! We will plan our future trips to this Airport just to have this coffee and cinnamon roll again! 10/10! Oh and the reggae music jamming is the vibe!!
This is what the world needs more of. Exceptional fare at great prices. Unusual and fun menu expertly executed. Wonderful staff. A refreshing oasis in a surrounding sea of mediocrity. Love this place.
My wife and I stumbled across this little gem located near the Long Beach airport. They are truly a 'Don't judge a book by it's cover' type of restaurant. Very unassuming from the street, but once inside, the vibe and atmosphere are fantastic. A great selection of appetizers and entrees along with a full bar and some delicious signature cocktails. Service was great. Recommended.
Location is in a building you would not expect. Hard to tell from outside. Once in, it's a great little place that has a modern menu with excellent options. All ingredients are fresh and the coffee is very good. Will come back!

Super cool spot at the local airport, quiet and out of the way, very friendly staff! The cocktail list is long and I’d like to try all of them. We tried the Cucumber cooler and the old fashioned (both tasty). There’s a great Happy Hour selection of food too. We tried the pickled eggs (spicy). I’ll absolutely be back to try more!

Total surprise stop to meet a friend since it's so convenient & 2 minutes off the fwy. Love the atmosphere, nice bar setup, wine wall, etc. Had a quick business lunch so we didn't sample any cocktails. I will be back to check out the vibe at dinner. Nice breakfast/lunch menu. I had the Caprese baguette. It was good. Needed some spring greens or arugula, less onions or just grill them instead of raw. Kettle chips came w/sando. Yum! They were warm when they came to the table. Had 3 different servers come & go so not entirely sure what was going on... It was early lunch so not crowded. Will def go back next time I'm in the area. You should too!

Very disappointed in this place. 7 of us…mandatory 22% tip on the bill. It has become somewhat common for restaurants to add automatic tip for parties of 6 or more, but usually 15%, and we gladly tip 20 or 25% for good food and service. Glass of Sangria…$9 on-line menu; $10 restaurant menu; $12 on the bill. Food average, but crab cakes dried out. The location is kind of cool, but We wouldn’t go back.
I was excited to try this spot with some friends based on the reviews but was disappointed with the food. I’ll start with the good though: Service was good and the space is lovely. They have a great bar selection and creative cocktail menu. The barstools are incredibly comfortable - padded with backrests that stayed comfy for the couple hours we were there. The not so good: we all ordered salads. One got the Greek, one got the arugula, and I got the Caesar. All of us asked for either grilled salmon or shrimp on the salads and expected just that… grilled. The salmon came out and had no grill marks and was straight out of the refrigerator. When I asked the server, her response was “grilled then chilled”. I think it would have been more accurate to say “baked then chilled” but whatever. It was dry, flavorless, and tasted like leftover salmon from the day before. The Greek salad was overwhelmingly just tomatoes. Total meh salad experience.
