1. The ribs were nicely cooked, and it had a delicious sauce! I also really like the beans and cornbread! 2. The spot has fun casual vibes! The interior is very spacious and huge! 3. The staff was friendly and attentive! Note: They have restrooms available for customers! Photo: Honey Cheese Cornbread, St Louis Style Ribs, and Ranch Style Beans

Those collard greens were the best I've had, most places sleep on the sides, not Beale's, they went above and beyond for what most places take for granted. The tri tip and brisket were great, didn't even need a knife. Which brings me back to the other side, the yams, perfect combo of sauce and seasonings, which also was great mixed with the tri tip. The old fashioned was perfect, bartenders were great, quick and friendly. The space is large, plenty of tables. Side note, this was previously Original Mike's, Beale's did a great job with the place.

This place just opened in DTSA replacing Ordinal Mike's. Went on a Saturday around 4pm. It was kinda dead but I believe because it just opened. The food is affordable and delicious. I normally go to Newport Ribs in Costa Mesa but this place hits just as good. Mac n cheese was good. It had flavor with s good amount of cheese Ribbs were bomb Tri-Trip was really good. At first I thought it was going to be chewy but it was really soft and juicy Cornbread was too sweet for me, my brother said it was perfect. I don't really like sweet stuff, so hopefully that helps. The potato salad was right nothing special. You know basic potato salad, cleans the palate.

Let’s start with the food. It’s absolutely delicious, perfectly smoked, not dry, incredibly tasty. The smoked brisket was the best I’ve eaten in years. I’d recommend choosing the lean cut brisket. The smoked salmon was also perfectly cooked and tasty. The interior has tvs everywhere for watching sports and has good music. It’s a great bar with great views of the boats and the water. It’s so fun to watch the boats come in and pick up their order. The service is excellent and the food was delivered fast. It’s the perfect place to pick up BBQ meals for a party Note: went back again and the ambience is great and their signature barbecue sauce is delicious and the sides are good. The rib tips were very fatty and not to my taste. Our friend didn’t like the ribs this visit. If possible, we would recommend asking for a taste before you order. The smoked salmon is a good choose. The view and great energy and helpful staff are great. Enjoy the food, brew and the view !

This place was amazing! The owner was outstanding and very personable. The food was so good we returned twice within one week and brought our colleagues. The Mac and cheese, Ribs, and Yams were my favorite, overall 10/10. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Beale’s Texas BBQ to anyone and everyone coming to visit!

This is their new location. They are no longer in Huntington Beach. This new location is on the corner of 1st and Main in downtown Santa Ana. They have great food and entertainment. The owners are always there to great you and the staff is friendly. They have plenty of parking as well. Everything was really good. Also that cornbread was probably the best I have ever had. We will definitely make this place over of our regular go to places now that it is closer and easier to get to. Brett and Roshawn are local Santa Ana guys as well and they decided to bring their restaurant back home.

I somehow misunderstood how BBQ'd meat could appear--not sizzling off the grill. Tasty. Ample portion of briskets. 2 styrofoam 😑cups of 2 good sides. Plastic utensils😔 We could opt for better cups & utensils for the seaside environment. The yacht views & sea breezes!

The food was so delicious, I have cooked collard greens all of my life, and these were extremely delicious. Yes, they are supposed to have vinegar in them. So someone who gave them a review, obviously had no idea what south cooking is supposed to taste like. The yams are the best I’ve ever had, the ribs were excellent. The music was super fun, and the owner was the sweetest ever, Loved it super delicious, the only change I would make is making the lights inside a little bit more Yellow or soft so that they can not quite be so intense. But I absolutely love this place have recommended it to so many people already and we will be going back.

Me and my husband pass by this restaurant often on our way to work and home. We had low expectations as it seems not busy. We finally tried it yesterday and to our surprise the quality of food and service was amazing. The meat was so tender fell off the bone. The sides were great as well. Although the menu is small and simple for food and drinks. Note they are not dairy free friendly. Almost everything contained dairy.

Just wish the ribs weren’t tough…. We were looking for bbq since Memorial Day & since we had heard great reviews about this new spot in Santa Ana! Even when we entered the people leaving was raving! Customer service was great! Everyone but one guy in a restaurant shirt was welcoming. Now the food… we got two 2 meat combos, cobbler & cornbread & a side of Mac …@$90 I got tritip and ribs ( recommended by the gentleman taking our order ) yams, collards and Mac….the ribs were tough… but everything else was fire! My dad got ribs & rib tips with ranch style beans and potato salad… we agreed the flavor of meat was delicious but ribs were tough for him too…& he didn’t care for the potato salad nor the beans. We haven’t tried the cobbler yet…but it looks good… but kinda expensive for the amount you get. So yeah… check it out & let me know what you think

The food was pretty good but if someone asks if the coleslaw is more mayo or vinegar based you should know lol I like mayo based but they had vinegar so that was eh. The service was excellent. Our server was nice and attentive. I don’t remember her name but she’s a short caucasian woman. The atmosphere was okay, loved the open space and the stage that she told us hosts live bands but the chairs are so uncomfortable. Like really affected our dining experience uncomfortable! We will eat here again but order to go.

Before i get into the review. I will say if you go here, the entrance is at the back off the building connect to where the parking lot is. I walked around this place 2 times, thinking i missed the entrance while all along the door i thought was just an employee entrance was the main entrance to the building. It was my first time trying this place. I read some reviews before going. I ordered the 2 meat combo and came with 2 sides. I choose brisket and hotlinks with potato salad and ranch style beans. The brisket for me was tender and flavored well. The hotlinks were just average. I like my links cooked a little more than those were. I also didn't care for them being tossed in bbq sauce, I would have preferred no sauce. Now the sides, on the other hand, weren't my favorite at all. The potato salad was not good. For me, it was too sweet and way too wet. It's like they made it with miracle whip and no mayonnaise. It also lacked salt but had TONS of pepper in it. The ranch style beans were meh. They weren't as sweet and also had a ton of spicy at the back end. I did find it odd that this place offers no sliced bread with the meals or for purchase. The only bread option they had was cornbread. I did purchase one, and it was about $7 for 1 piece, which I thought was absolutely ridiculously priced. It was worth 2 dollars at most, especially after tasting it. I can tell the batter used had more flour than cornmeal. The texture was so off-putting. The flavor of the cornbread was very sweet. I like my cornbread to taste like cornbread, NOT cake. Also, I ordered this all take out, and when I got the bag, they didn't put any utensils or napkins in the bag. When I went back inside to purchase the cornbread, that's when I noticed. Thank God I did.

Food: The food was hit or miss. To start the ribs were really good. Juicy and had a ton of flavor. The brisket however was dry and plain. We even asked before if it was dry, and they assured us it was not. The pulled pork sandwich was tender and juicy with a fresh bun. The Mac n Cheese however was soggy and not well formed. The greens were good but nothing special. Service: You could tell they are a work in progress here. The girls taking orders were kind and doing there best. They did forget certain things we asked for both while ordering and at the table. At the same time they had a manager sitting right there listening to their every word. And as soon as we went and sat down he was grilling them on his performance. A couple minutes later he was hounding them about giving a substitution for a side. He was definitely very rude to them and I’m sure they felt like they were walking on egg shells. Overall: If you even it out the food is Average. The service a work in progress. Not worth traveling for. There are better BBQ spots in Orange County and even neighboring Long Beach.

The aesthetic was amazing.. the women’s bathroom was beautiful our waitress was amazing but the food was a let down!!! I cook southern food so ordering greens i expect a lil bit of meat in my greens, i make mine with turkey tails.. but to get a side with not even one bit of some smoked meat was surprising.. my husbands cut of brisket was dry and no smoke ring .. i ordered the St. Louis ribs and seeing that the silverskin wasn’t removed was obvious the ribs were gona be tough…and they were .. the yams could have used a bit on nutmeg ginger and cinnamon, they tasted like a mouthful of brown sugar .. the hot links my sister in law had in her sandwich were good tho

This place was not busy at all when we went. It still took a long time for them to take our order. We had a group of 10 or so. They took one order at a time around the table and that's how the food came out. People were finishing as the last couple of us were starting. It was lucky we had time. I liked my food, but most in my group did not. I tried the beans and potato salad friends got and beans were not good. The potato salad was just ok. We had to ask for sauce. There was very little on the meats. Instead of squeeze bottles they brought it out in tiny plastic cups. Super annoying. The rib tips my friend got were very chewy. The prices are super high. Will not be returning.

So tried this place for the first time and let me say I was not impressed especially the prices like wow! I know how to BBQ and smoke meats and when I ate here, the tri tip was cold and seemed to be reheated as it was hard, chewy, and dry for being tri tip you know it's to be tender and juicy. $23 def not worth it! I had the 1 meat 2 sides and got yams and ranch style beans. Yams were ok could have been cooked longer and beans meh. Honestly I would not come back here the prices are crazy overpriced for the quality of food. Seems like the food was cooked prior day and just reheated and served. Ofc the beer was good and served cold as it should. The server was cool and friendly. Other then that I'm certain there are better BBQ spots around. They do broadcast NFL games but don't do UFC so 🤷. Well Beals I truly hope you improve the quality of your food.

First Visit to this poorly managed place. Too bad because it’s a great Live Music and Dancing place with two different rooms with large dance floors and a great stage for bands in the one room. That was the highlight of our visit. The Two Partners running this place don’t see eye to eye and are unconcerned how their guests are treated. They don’t agree on how to run the place. The Food isn’t good as other reviewers have posted. Got the Ribs Plate (Ribs were so dry, tough, overcooked for sure—too bad as that’s what they are supposed to be—a BBQ restaurant, their meats should be top notch) comes with two sides (Cole Slaw—dry, but they gave me extra dressing to add) and collards which were overcooked and extremely vinegary with no hint of salt. The Peach Cobbler was mushy and tasteless 🙁 I can’t say I’d never go back as the band was good and the Salsa/Bachata/Cumbia next room was great! But for the FOOD—No Way. Grab your food at one of the other restaurants nearby before you go to this place!

Went here for the first time here is my honest review, the people are very nice. The place has a good vibe and overall started great. Before we get started on the food I want to say the people are definitely great but man the restrooms where pretty bad especially woman's restroom, mold and a pile of toilet paper in trash at opening means that must not get taken out regularly. That was a bad experienxe for the wife, the food was not the best, ima keep it real we went in with unbiased opinions on a first time visit in our search to find a bbq joint worth becoming a regular at. The burnt ends where either extra dry and inedible or some pieces dry but with a decent taste, by the way the seasoning on everything was absolutely great in my opinion that was literally the highlight though. The brisket was maybe yesterday's if im being generous. Very dry very old looking. The ribs where the same, again seasoning fire but I feel like we got yesterday's leftovers for food unfortunately. Hot links felt generic like store brand nothing special. Tri tip very chewy almost spoiled look. Again seasoning was great. Pulled pork was surprisingly amazing and not dry and bbq sauce was also good. Cornbread was good nothing special but a nice taste. The Mac n cheese was different, definitely salty but was nice overall. Peach cobbler is an acquired taste but not for me and also felt old. Banana pudding was great. Overall the people made it a nice place, if I would've got fresh food I think this place would've been absolutely amazing because the seasonings where amazing. I'm not a professional but I smoke my own meats and I know fresh vs old and know when something is just overcooked, this felt just old not overcooked. I'd love to try again one day, maybe on a busier day as it might be fresh this way, i did go early, hoping to get the fresh bbq experience. But I think I'll continue my search for bbq in oc.

The food tastes precooked and microwave warmed. Some of the sides tasted store bought. The drinks are excessively overpriced. They smoke cigars in front of entrance. As a non - smoker, I don't want my clothes, hair and lungs to be covered in smoke. The owners spend more time sitting outside and smoking, than running the business. Not my kind of place.

Bartender was only waiter for first 30 minutes. He was slower than he was rude and extremely arrogant. Ribs were just ok. Beans tasted burnt. Portions for brisket were 2 pieces! Don't waste your time here. Only good service came from guy we thought was a bouncer. He was great. Bartender ruined entire experience.

Texas has filed a lawsuit to remove the name "Texas" from the restaurant title! This is NOT Texas BBQ! The brisket was all wrong. There was no smoke ring or bark from BBQ. This was more like a pot roast. And it was sliced wrong. It should have been sliced 90 degrees from the grain of the meat. It was sliced with the grain. This makes it chewy. Not good. Either the owner isn't present, doesn't care or doesn't know. Just bad BBQ. Here's more detail: 1. The bark is basically missing. A real smoked brisket should have: • A dark, crusty bark • Visible spice rub adhesion • Texture on the exterior Beale's has: • A soft, uniform brown surface • No crisp bark edge • Almost a “roast beef” appearance This is a classic sign of low smoke exposure or improper cooking environment (e.g., oven or pressure-cooked brisket, then lightly smoked or sauced). ⸻ 2. There’s little to no smoke ring. A proper smoke ring is a pinkish band ⅛–¼ inch deep beneath the bark. Beale's slices show: • Maybe a faint hint of color • But basically zero distinct ring A missing smoke ring usually means: • Cooked in an oven • Cooked fast • Electric smoker with little combustion • Not enough airflow or low wood use ⸻ 3. The texture is off. Beale's brisket looks: • Compact • Tight-grained • Slightly mushy on the cut surface • Not marbled or juicy Good smoked brisket is: • Tender but structured • Juicy with rendered fat • Loose fibers that hold shape when sliced This looks more like: • Braise-style beef • Oven brisket • Steam-table reheated brisket • Or smoked very minimally then finished another way ⸻ 4. The flavor indicators support this. When brisket has been properly smoked 10–14 hours: • The bark is unmistakable • The smoke ring is obvious • The meat slices clean • It does NOT shred like pot roast unless massively overcooked Beale's brisket shredded partly because it was soft from moisture/steam cooking, not slow rendering of collagen under smoke. ⸻ Verdict This is something that was called brisket, but not authentically smoked brisket. This is extremely common at places that: • Don’t have a real pit • Smoke in batches then reheat • Rely on ovens or sous-vide and add smoke flavor after • Serve smoked meats but don’t follow proper BBQ technique Bottom line: this wasn’t real Texas-style smoked brisket.

We had a terrible experience at Beals Texas BBQ. While our server was kind, attentive, and clearly doing her best, the rest of the experience was unacceptable—particularly the behavior of the manager or owner, who was not only unprofessional but outright disrespectful to both staff and customers. We witnessed him make our server cry twice during our visit, which was heartbreaking to see. I ordered the twice-baked potato with smoked chicken, and it was inedible. The chicken tasted like it had been cooked days ago and reheated, and the “potato” was more like packaged mashed potatoes, slapped on a tray with shredded cheese stuck to parchment paper. When I tried to explain my concerns, the manager cut me off mid-sentence and snatched the plate from me without a word. When I asked to speak with another manager, the host stated, “Are you sure? He’ll just going to say if you don’t like it, don’t come back.” That alone speaks volumes about the lack of customer care. On top of that, our drinks had to be remade several times because the bartenders didn’t show up and staff were just improvising. The only bright spot was our server, who handled everything with grace despite a toxic environment. We will not be returning, and I would highly discourage others from dining here.

Not a good experience! I got the ribs and they were not barbecued and very tough and chewy with no flavor. Maybe baked or boiled, can't be sure. The beans were not good and the potato salad was meh. The peach cobbler was edible at least. When I called there to tell them my experience, assuming I was talking to the manager, he was very rude saying I must have done something when warming them to make them tough because he's never had complaints. I won't be going back that's for sure. For the price, i expected much better.

This is a disgrace to Texas BBQ...to the word BBQ, really. I've eaten a few bad meals in my life, and this falls within the top 5 worst. I challenge you, please go to TX and eat some bbq, Beale. Go to Austin, Dallas, Houston...try 10-15 places and then try your food. Be honest in your assessment; you'll see your failings. There is no smoke smell coming into the restaurant, it actually smelled like Fabuloso, and I usually turn around and walk out when I smell that over the food, but I decided to move forward. No bread, pickles, onions? Really? No smoke ring on the brisket. Pretty sure it was oven baked. The chicken I was served was old. I did not eat it. You can't slap on a coat of what you refer to as BBQ sauce on it and think that makes it legit. It doesn't. The sauce was worse than if I had been served ketchup. Do yourself a favor, patron. Do not eat here until they clean it up and fix what's broken. This is not BBQ.

Rating: ⭐ / 5 "Dry Meat, Too Much Sauce, and Zero Professionalism" As a chef, I believe the true test of quality BBQ is how the meat stands on its own. I explicitly ordered two 3-meat combination plates with no sauce. Despite this, the owner served them drenched in sauce anyway—usually a red flag that the meat can’t speak for itself. After being told they had "sold out" earlier (an order that should have simply been canceled), the owner promised to remake my meal. My follow-up visit was even worse: • The Service: I was met with a callous and unprofessional attitude by an older staff member who refused to take the order and told me to just get a refund. • The Food: When the owner finally remade the food, it was even drier and lower quality than the first time. • The Outcome: The experience was so disappointing and the environment so unprofessional that I didn't even want the food. I ended up leaving it for a homeless person rather than dealing with the staff again. I hate to say it, but save your time and your money. If you want authentic BBQ where the meat actually shines, head over to Bo Daddy’s BBQ in LA instead. I gave the food to a homeless person as not to be wasteful. Totally not worth $70! Disgusted and will not be back.

Was so excited to tru based on the pictures. The brisket and tri tip is sooooo dry like beef jerky dry, mac and cheese wasnt cheesy but only flavor is salt. This really was such a bad experience and for the price! 3 tiniest slices of beef jerky tri trip and a thin slab of dried out brisket.
