Emma's Tamales

I want to start out by saying I've tried all of the local restaurants that serve tamales and every online tamale brand. Emma's are by far the best tamales I have ever tried. They are authentic and delicous. I buy them from California Organics when I'm in Grass Valley and when I'm in Sac, I get them from this location. All the negative reviews are so uncalled for in my opinion. These are unbdoubtely the best tamales I have ever had. I eat them every week! Don't let the negative reviews stop you from trying these amazing tamales! My favorite are the black bean and patatoe. The beef are my second favorite, so deliosusly! I love this place and the staff is amazing!

The prices for the tamales are so reasonable especially for the flavor and quick service you get! We even got a 6 pack refrigerated and vacuum sealed to go for our freezer.

Yesterday July 13th I took my three grandsons to Old Sacramento. Ages 11 9 and 7. We stopped at Emma's to get some tamales ,vegetarian, which were delicious but the gentleman there gave me a pumpkin tamale because I have been going to Emma's in the South area for a while and had never heard of the pumpkin tamale. I must say thank you. I don't even like pumpkin and this pumpkin tamale was delicious. Thank you again. And by the way the other two tamales were delicious also.

Great place! Very friendly service, yummy tamales & also very affordable. I got two tamales & chips for $10! Also received my food really quick, def worth checking out for a quick delicious bite to eat :)

Yesterday July 13th I took my three grandsons to Old Sacramento. Ages 11 9 and 7. Joe was so informative, welcoming and provides a great environment. The tamales were phenomenal and so was the homemade salsa. The price of it all was unbelievable! It was not expensive at all. We will be back here more often.

These tamales are so fire I stopped in there and there was this girl working and she was so cool and talkative. She made me feel right at home those are the best tamales I ever had and not only that there was great customer service with their cashier

I visited with my husband and it was absolutely delicious! We ate inside and took enchiladas and tamales to go. Food was too good to not have some at home. Really great customer service. I love supporting family owned businesses. They’ve been around since 1983 and still have quality food plus delicious vegan options too! Highly recommend!

I’m kinda confused by all the reviews. The lady we had was wearing gloves, super kind an welcoming, gave us water for our pup twice. My dad who’s picky about food said they were good. Not as spicy as he wished but not bad. I couldn’t base a review off just vegan options or such. The food yes looks like it’s being warmed up. As if they make them the day before. Honestly only stopped cause they had authentic coke an that’s all that matters to me lol. I’d stop here again too!

Love these tamales! Appreciate the many options available. They even have tamales for my vegan family members, which you just don't find. And no, cheese is not naturally vegan. Thank you Emma's for an inclusive and tasty tamale experience.

I am Aussie, I got the polished dog with all the trimmings and it was delicious!. Service was wervice, the guy smiled. the place is set in ols Sacromemto with music playing, so not bad.

It's an okay bang for your buck. Tamales were clearly premade and microwaved to order. Mine was a bit cold in the middle & it was clear the plastic packaging was softening from constantly being steamed in the microwave.

Didn't realize they were Tex-Mex tamales. Pork tamale was either overcooked (tasted charred) had an ingredient I wasn't familiar with. Reviews were great but we weren't fond of the tamales at all . We will NOT be going back. Response to vendor reply: Tex Mex is what I thought they were, I was wrong & they are Santa Fe. While we did not care for these tamales, it may be personal preference. I think they were nor charred but we didn't care for the flavor.

Had a hankering for an enchelota while in old Sac and stopped in Emma's for a bite. Service was friendly and informative however food took a minute to heat up in the microwave. As with all food warmed in a microwave the enchiladas temperature was a variable. The dish was a bit mushy as well. I bought some tortillas chips for 5 bucks and used the enchiladas as topping. Hot sauce was not hot and a bit skimpy. Was hoping for better.

mid tamales that are refrigerated and microwaved for $14, salsa wasn't spicy at all and barely gave any. expensive for what it is, i felt sad after eating this. if that was my last meal i would just shoot myself on the spot.
