Avis sur Railroad Fish & Chips Antelope
Some of the best fish and chips around. All of their food is very appetizing. When I'm in Old Sac I always try to come here!
What a pleasant surprise! In such a tourist area I didn't expect much but wow. The fish was fantastic, fried perfect along with very crispy chips. Would recommend to anyone who loves fish and chips.
My fiance under sold how good this place was. The size of the shrimp and fish you get are a respectable size and worth the price. A small indoor seating area but plenty of outdoor seating. The meal was worth it. Best fish and chips place in Old Sacramento in my opinion.
Visited July 16th..see my receipt. This place is just steps from the Delta King in old Sacramento. Every time I come to this area this place is always crowded! They do a booming business and they get the orders out quickly. I ordered the fish and chips and they were hot and crunchy and not greasy! It also comes with fries. I shared it with my friend and we could not finish the one order! I see why they are busy..consistent in their food quality! They have inside seating and outdoor seating both in the front and in the back where you can watch the train go by. They also serve beer and sodas. Great fast lunch. No frills. Very casual yet relaxing!
The customer size was excellent she was very nice easy to talk when ordering gave compliments to u... lovely lady at window the food was excellent came out hot the red snapper was soft inside cooked perfectly and and crispy outside flavored perfectly... onions ring nice size crunchy outside flavored well... bacon cheeseburger was cooked perfectly... we come asap
Stopped here to scratch an itch for some chowder. Delicious chowder, plenty of clams, piping hot. Was conducting my obligatory every 10-15 year walk thru Old Sacramento, grabbed the chowder and was glad I did. If the weather is good, there are a few clean picnic tables to eat at and watch the tourists.....If their other items are as good as the chowder, they have a winner on their hands. Thanks Railroad Fish and Chips!
We were here on Saturday at 2PM (mid-April of 2025). It was pretty crowded. We got 2 fish and chips, 1 added sauce, and a bottle of coke, for $37 including tax. Fish is AMAZINGLY good- thin batter and soft fish inside. With some lemon on it, it was very yummy. Fries were good too, although it could be crispier to my taste. Amount of food is pretty good as well, my husband had some of my fries and he felt fairly full. The kick is the sauce. I think they said it’s house-made tartar sauce (dairy free confirmed by my lactose intolerant husband), and it is so fresh and so light. They have outdoor seating area (covered patio) like all the other restaurants at old sac, so it can be really loud time to time- not their fault, but just be aware. People who work here were super friendly and nice despite being busy. Public restroom available with soap and cold water nearby. Would def come back whenever we visit Old Sac.
Really good fried fish. I also really like the tartar sauce. The fries were ok. The sourdough bread bowl that the clam chowder came in was delicious. The clam chowder was acceptable. This is a sort of picnic place with disposable cutlery and paper trays. That's why we had to get the bread bowls - we did not want our clam chowder to come in a styrofoam container. There is some seating inside with train paraphernalia. And picnic is outside.
10/10 The fish and chips and tacos we’re amazing! Not rated Service was okay, they served the food out of the counter and you had to find your own seating. 6/10 Ambiance was okay, the outside was very chilly but the food made up for it More food stuff IG @vin.foodjournal
My family and I love this place! We travel from near Modesto to eat here. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because they stopped selling their cole slaw, and I feel that fried foods need some type of fresh side dish to go with it. I highly recommend their fried battered prawns and garlic fries🤤
Amazing clam chowder. You can taste the quality and freshness of the ingredients. Also had the fish and chips. Good tasting battered fish, nice amount of breading and goes great with the tartar sauce. Very respectful prices didn't feel I was being gouged. Especially because they don't hide their prices
This is a good fish and chips shop in Old Sacramento! We were pleasantly surprised by the quality. You order at the window and they call out your number. There are picnic style benches in the patio area where you can sit. For drinks, you get sodas or beer. We got the fish and chips and a 12 oz bowl of clam chowder. We enjoyed both options. I highly recommend trying them out if you are in the Old Sac area and want something casual.
Nice location and pleasant environment with lots of space to sit back and relax. Plenty to do in the area including the Railway Museum and the riverfront. Great Wild West high street feel in the area. From a food perspective it’s ok, not awesome but not bad. The fish and chips could be less oily and the batter less thick but it definitely won’t break the bank and is good experience.
Fish tacos: very good, but messy; good combo of slaw, tarter sauce, cilantro, and fried fish Fish-N-Chips: very good; fish was super crispy but lite, not heavy and greasy; not a fan of the fries - they were soggier and not flavorful Clam Chowder bowl/bread bowl: not Disneyland clam chowder but very good; not too thick; good flavor; good blend of potatoes, veggies, and clams 1 Coke 1 Water 1 Modelo 1 Gatorade Total: $70 Overall, very good. You have to snag seating since it’s outdoors-Boardwalk style.
Railroad Fish and Chips in Old Town Sacramento is a must-visit if you're craving a satisfying basket of fish and chips. While it may not be the absolute best I've ever had, it certainly ranks high on my list. The breading on the fish was impeccably crispy and bursting with flavor, while the fish itself remained delightfully moist. The fries, cooked to order, were the perfect accompaniment and hit the spot just right. Surprisingly, the standout for me was the tartar sauce - incredibly flavorful and the perfect complement to the meal. Whether you're looking for a quick bite between shopping sprees or simply craving some classic comfort food, Railroad Fish and Chips is sure to hit the spot.
I went on a Monday so I had the advantage of it not being busy. I ordered the fish tacos but the woman heard me say fish & chips 🤷♀️. I went with the mishap because it wasn’t too big of a deal and the fish & chips turned out to be really good! I especially liked the tartar sauce lol. I would definitely go back.
The fries were good. The service was relatively fast. The burger was just ok. I got the western bacon burger, but there was nothing special about it in terms of flavor. The presentation of the meal was good. It actually looked very tasty. The lady at the cashier was nice and polite. I would go back but maybe try something else.
