Avis sur La Ribereña Aranjuez
En pocas palabras... Flipante.
Everything was excellent, I hope it stays this way for a long time so I can come back. It all looked just as good as in the photos. I was able to try stuffed peppers, oxtail stew, pork knuckle, scrambled eggs, black pudding... the red wine on the set menu was very good, neat, and the white wine was also excellent. The desserts were delicious too.
I'm working in the area and we ate at this restaurant. The waiters are very attentive and quick. They pay attention to detail at every table, and the air conditioning in the dining room was fantastic—it was neither too hot nor too cold. I had a salad with nuts and goat cheese, which was delicious and fresh. For our main course, we ordered rice with lobster, and it was absolutely amazing! And I'm from Valencia, so the flavor was mild and not overpowering at all. They leave the whole casserole dish for you to enjoy; we couldn't finish it! We hadn't been there before, and we'll definitely go back if we're ever in the area. The quality is good and affordable. They have a daily menu and an à la carte menu.
Near the Palace. We couldn't find another one open between the train station and the Palace. With the cold weather, the terrace was closed, which made sense. Once inside, the atmosphere was relaxed and the service was quick. Everything was clean and the waiter was very attentive. We would have appreciated a hot tapa 🥶, but oh well. Recommended.
Food us always great and service always lind and welcoming.
Ok 👌
We've been eating at La Ribereña every time we visit Aranjuez for years: we've seen the waiters, who were originally as young as us, grow older. Yesterday, Aranjuez was sad, deserted by tourists, a sunny, beautiful day, but economically dead. At least La Ribereña was open, with all the anti-COVID safety measures in place.
1920 est. restaurant with friendly staff and efficient service. I had, from the 12 Euro menu, green beans with ham and the regional dish "cocido". Amount was plenty and very good in quality. I would definitely eat here again.
Aranjuez is famous for its strawberries and asparagus. If you're visiting during that season, this place is highly recommended. Although it's a restaurant, they also serve the seasonal dish Fresion con Nata (strawberries and fresh cream). (We asked if we could just have that with coffee around 3 o'clock before we sat down.) The Spanish version of iced coffee, Cafe con hielo, served with ice and hot espresso, was also fragrant and delicious. (For some reason, iced coffee in Spain is usually served lukewarm, lol. So, if you prefer it cold, I recommend this.) In September 2017, this combination cost 5.5€ per person. At the market, dessert alone costs that much. A real bargain. The waiter was very friendly, and we enjoyed ourselves. On our way back from the Royal Palace, we added another memory to our collection.
Wonderful fresh traditional and vegetarian options grown locally
A well-established and historic restaurant in town. They offer a variety of set menus at reasonable prices. All this in a convenient location near the tourist areas. The service has always been excellent and friendly. We've been many times and have always left satisfied. One thing I would suggest improving is the cheesecake. The desserts are good, but the cheesecake—I'm not sure if it's store-bought or homemade—tastes artificial. It's a popular dessert choice and can sometimes detract from the overall experience.
The service is impeccable, despite the large crowd. They always serve you well, although you can tell they're overwhelmed. The food is delicious, well-cooked, and the portions are adequate. Perhaps the only downside was the dessert, which was the weakest. It's not like you're going to eat something you've never eaten before, but everything is delicious and well-cooked. The place is clean and everything is fine, but it's a dining room with little personality. The blinds are down, so no natural light comes in. The bathroom smell is a bit off-putting when you walk in. Then, in the dining room, there's no smell at all. Perhaps if the blinds were up and the lighting was warmer, it would be more pleasant. Even so, given that Aranjuez is such a touristy place, I thought it was a very good place to go for lunch.
In Aranjuez, outside the city center where most restaurants are located, we found La Ribereña, a place with an authentic and traditional flavor, good quality, and attentive service. We were lucky to be seated in the quieter upstairs dining room. We tried a €24 menu, which was very good, but we saw other dishes being served that looked very good. I recommend it and I'll definitely return.
The service was good, and the restaurant respected the rules of spacing between tables, although it apparently lacked ventilation. The food was good. The rice blood sausage was delicious and slightly spicy. Veal scallopini with potatoes were just right. Sirloin steak in sauce (just lacking a touch of salt) with perfectly seasoned potatoes. The strawberry and cream dessert and cheesecake were very good.
Tapas
I enjoyed the beer, they didn't rip me off at all (prices on menu were actually what I was charged, not the same as a few places in Madrid) so that was good. The negative thing was that none of the tables on the patio hadn't been cleaned since the previous customers were there. Otherwise, I had a good experience. I also watched 2 other groups arrive to dirty tables while I enjoyed my beer.
We made a reservation for lunch on January 1st there. A few weeks have passed since then, and if we hadn't gone to add three more people to our party, they would have cancelled our reservation without prior notice, claiming we had cancelled, which is completely false. They cancelled to squeeze in a friend, and they cancelled the first table they could find. If we hadn't gone to add the extra people, January 1st would have arrived and we wouldn't have had a place to eat because they wouldn't have notified us. We asked if a deposit was required for the reservation, and they said no. So, anyone thinking of booking for any date should be aware that they are not reliable.
They're completely unprofessional. They've cancelled two of my reservations without warning to give them to their friends, and they're incredibly rude to customers. The few times I've eaten there, the food was bad and the portions were meager. I'm never going back.
First of all, it's important to note that on weekends, it's necessary to make a reservation days in advance at any restaurant in Aranjuez. Otherwise, you might end up like me, having to eat lunch wherever they give you a table. That's how we ended up at "La Ribereña," a restaurant that displayed an attractive menu for €20 at the entrance, with a large terrace—fully booked—and two dining rooms inside. Despite being full, we have to say the food was poor and the service was lazy. To start, we ordered some breaded eggplant, which was all fried and lacking in vegetables, as after a long search, we only found a very thin slice. The attached photos serve as proof, and the eggplant was soaked in oil. The cod peppers were also a poor choice for a starter, as they were bland because the kitchen didn't handle them with the slightest care. It was also obvious they were pre-cooked and then reheated. It's hard to tackle a flavorless tomato sauce, but they even managed to do that. At this point, we ordered a bottle of Ribera Duero to help us get through the meal. The waiter's kindness, however, didn't offer us a taste, instead simply opening the bottle and leaving it on the table without tasting it, was a very unpleasant gesture. Unfortunately, the main courses didn't remedy the initial situation. The oxtail should have been excellent when prepared, but it was obviously cooked for hours and reheated with barely any sauce, so it arrived at the table dry and tasteless, as was the case with the pork tenderloin. The side of pre-fried potatoes, heated in the oven, also didn't add any flavor. It's a shame, but at "La Ribereña," everything is pre-cooked and heated before serving. Desserts: the cheesecake isn't homemade, but rather made with supermarket pre-made bags. The strawberries and cream, on the other hand, are delicious, if that's a feat in the region of Aranjuez. One last negative: too many flies in the dining room. Honestly, we won't be back; they need to show a lot more professionalism.
