some of the most amazingly delicious pizza ever.😲😃🤩😋😋😋they have slices available already which is nice. the staff are friendly. there is nowhere to sit as a customer. you just walk in & already there is the counter to order. edit: they don't have gluten-free pizza anymore😭.

I used to love going to Smugs with my friend Wesley. We lived at the end of 10th and Q and we would just walk on up there. But back then the slices were $1.25 and maybe $1.50. Delicious pizza I highly recommend it. And then if anyone wants to open a Pizza by the slice joint with me I’m game! I want to serve some beer with it too, so we would have to get a beer license.

Smugs is our “go to” for consistently making us the Best Pizza in town ! The pies are really large and heavy and full of flavor every time . We have used McKinleyville and Arcata stores with equal success ! Thanks Smugs

This place has the best pizza! It is known for cheap pizza by the slice, but the pizza itself is actually my favorite in Humboldt. I love their crust. It's perfectly delicious! Not too hard or too soft. The toppings they use and the sauces are very high quality. They also sell cookies made in house and drinks in bottles or cans. It's more of a grab-and-go place, not a sit-down restaurant, so keep that in mind when you call in an order. It's well worth it to buy a whole pie and they are perfectly willing to make each quarter of the pizza different. We like to order the a variety of toppings and let the pizza chefs get creative. We've been regulars at the Eureka location for years. The last time I went to the Arcata location, I was very impressed with the food and the service. The McKinleyville one is quite good as well.

No big decisions here. Walk in and grab a fresh slice from the hot case, or order a custom pizza; as it's only one happy size, the only stress is figuring out what you want on it! I love the pineapple jalapeno. If you want only 2 slices of a specific kind, you can call ahead and order, and most times they are happy to make it happen for you. Simplicity at it's finest.

This is me and my girlfriend love the pizza from here. I would rate them as the best pizza in town.

My wife really enjoys pizza from Smug's and says it is the best. I am usually not a big pizza fan so I feel it's pretty much the same as any other pizza. It's a takeout place so don't plan on eating in. The service is very quick and friendly though. We usually get the herbivore pizza.

I went to Arcata in 2003 and ate here. I loved the pizza so much that I still remember this place til this day. Can't wait to be able to come back some day and get another slice!

I love the pineapple jalapeno. If you want only 2 slices of a specific kind, you can call ahead and order, and most times they are happy to make it happen for you. Simplicity at it's finest.

I love this place and have been going for years. Their fresh slices are undoubtedly the best in Humboldt county. I prefer this location to Eureka's, and the McKinleyville location is under different ownership than Arcata/Eureka. They push the sauce/cheese to the end of the pie and roll the crust over, then brush it with garlic olive oil. My favorite combination is spinach, tomato, garlic and red onion. There are always slices available for quick pick-up, and they will make you any two fresh custom slices you want in about 5-10 minutes. The staff is friendly and it seems like they enjoy working here. The young man (I think his name is Daniel?) with the septum piercing who often wears a baseball cap is my favorite. In addition to being the best pizza in the area, it's also the cheapest. Only $5 for two slices!

Hands down the best pizza you will find in humboldt county and surrounding areas , they put every pizza chain or local pizza down . If your lucky you can get there cookies if they are not sold out I usually buy slices but today I had to buy the whole pie ! Thank you smugs for the delicious memories

I crush a few slices of this delscious pizza 🍕after I been hitting the bong loads. The weed 🌳 and pie sing to each other from my brain cells to my taste buds in perfect harmony. I would give 5 🌟 but the grease leaves my belly a little combustible. Thats why post loads are mandatory to settle the volatility in my belly

The pizza dough is a bit thick and salty and the edges are folded in and not as good as every other pizza crust edge you've ever had. Toppings were on the skimpy side.

I don't know what the source of popularity is for this place. The staff was super nice but it's literally a hole in the wall where you can only walk in and leave, so take this into account you're not even paying for seating let alone atmosphere with the price of the slice. A single slice is smaller than any other pizza place that offers slices in town. Most places charging by the slice are offering huge New York style pieces. Smugs is smaller and while it would be great for a frozen pizza made fresh in the oven at home it's hardly the quality of restaurant by-the-slice pizza in Arcata. I'm only left to assume people go to Smugs out of childhood habit or ignorance.

Went in for a slice. Did not think anyone could mess up pizza this bad. Crust chewy and just awful. Toppings dry. My first and last time. Definitely do not recommend. Worst $5
