Best Jerk Chicken I’ve ever had! Not to mention the beef patty was delicious ☺️ coming every time I’m im Texas
DJ was our waiter and he was Awesome! Very friendly and upbeat personality. He made sure we were taken care of. Food was amazing 👏🏼
Wow, it was great! The food DE--LISH! The service AMAZING 🙌! Everyone was friendly and welcoming .... Atmosphere clean and true to Jamaican vibes. As you can see .... I cleaned my plate. My Fiance‘ is Jamaican and loves it when he comes to DFW area. We went there to celebrate his birthday with a few Jamerican friends. Everyone enjoyed themselves.
My husband and I decided to come here after reviewing other Caribbean restaurants & a few customers suggested we come try Jamaica Gates & im 1000% glad we did from pulling up to the building finding easy parking to being seated & served immediately our host DJ was attentive & super polite (awesome guy ) after ordering our food it came out immediately hot & fresh I order the oxtails & my husband order the curry chicken we were both satisfied with our overall experience food was Super flavorful & just the right amount of spice …. Jamaica Gates keep doing y’all thing cause we will be back & become faithful customers
Very professional and friendly staff and management, kind, and cares about the customers. The food is always fresh, and delicious. The price is excellent, sizable portions, and the food is delicious! Order made exactly as I requested it!
I come in and order from Jamaican gates every so often and their food is always good especially the oxtails. As a Haitian/ Bahamian woman their dishes are the closest to my taste bud and cultural norms. I tell everybody about there spots when we talk about food. You wouldn't regret your hard earning at Jamaican restaurant.
If you’re looking to try authentic Jamaican food, this is the place to go!! I was born and raised in Jamaica I know how the food should taste. Hats off to the chef!! Every thing I had was absolutely delicious and reminded me of home. The atmosphere was super welcoming and clean. Our waitress was great, she had an amazing personality and answered all of my questions. I definitely recommend this restaurant for authentic Jamaican food. I recommend the Kingston trio if you don’t know what to try.
Waited for 20 minutes just for the lady to serve others before us.... THEN KYLE. Omgosh, not only did he have great customer service, the food was A+ Mazing! Thank you Kyle for making this a great experience
Look, as a yaad man, born and raised, this is the best Jamaican food I’ve had in the DFW area. Been there twice, had the curry goat twice, it was immaculate. Also had the goat head soup, veggie patties and brown stewed fish. #AUTHENTIC (Fish is kinda pricy still but it taste good) This is a little piece of Jamaica in TX.
Very unique, interesting and awesome find! I went with a group of friends who dine out regularly. I couldn’t decide between the goat, oxtail and jerk chicken, but then I discovered the Kingston Trio entree that had it all! Flavors and taste was amazing! Fried plantains, Jamaican lemonade and rum cake was excellent as well! Lively music and colorful, vibrant atmosphere as well as easy, abundant parking. Bree was so sweet, pleasant, attentive and helpful! I highly recommend this place and will definitely be back !!
Ok, not all Jamaican dishes are spicy! My oxtails did fall off the bone. Variety of authentic dishes I'll return for next time. I was there for my birthday celebration. Non-Stop Reggae music! The atmosphere was "pleasing" with good A/C space, and I happened to catch karaoke night @7. But the best part of the dinner was DJ, our host, who served us. Professional and accurate with our orders great customer service. Make sure you ask for DJ and tip him well. Family planning bi-mthly visits.
Hi, experience with Jamacia Gates Cafe is always a good atmosphere dining in or take out. Courteous employees and great food. I highly recommend this restaurant.
I’ve tried other Jamaicans spots and this place so far is the best!!!! I come from a Jamaican family but was born and raised in NY so I’m use to the authentic culture and food and I’ve really been missing it since I’ve moved to TX. The Jamaican restaurants that I’ve gone to thus far haven’t been as good but this place right here did it for me! The vibe, the food, the authentic seasoning, the music (old school reggae) and even down to the decore in the restaurant was it!!! I would highly recommend!
As always, food was great and DJ did his thing. Even though he was very busy he still acknowledged every table. Outstanding customer service
Love the food great place to chill on the weekends! Live music 🎶 on Saturdays get ya groove on Jamaica 🇯🇲 🎶 once you feeling good on them drinks you'll be dancing 💃 an ya belly full the best is the trio plate.😋😘
First time in this locally run Caribbean themed restaurant. Our waiter, Glenn, was helpful while we're were deciding what to try and he readily answered our questions! Thank you for being awesome! We tried a Jamaican Patty to start. So good! Hubs had Rasta Pasta and I had the Brown Stew Fish (red snapper). Both dishes were plentiful, wonderfully seasoned and delicious. I'm not a big fan of whole fish, but this was really a great dish! You should know that all the dishes are whole and bone-in. I really like the sides of beans and rice and the steamed veggies. We felt like this was an authentic dining experience that we enjoyed very much.
I forgot to take pictures before we devoured everything lol we got the oxtails (w/ white rice and side salad), curry goat (w/ steamed vegetables), and the roti curry goat. Everything was 10/10. We are definitely coming back to try more
Love love the Jamaican vibe here! The sticky citrus wings are bomb! The jerk nachos was a nice hearty portion. The jerk shrimp had a good spicy kick. We ordered the Portland Sampler as our appetizer. It really could be a meal. My Jamaican Crawler had a good bite that I could definitely feel. We will return!
Came in on a Friday night it was the dj birthday so the music was a variety and loud giving party vibes… the food was amazing two of us ladies devoured the fish soup full of flavor and we also enjoyed the steamed red snapper chef job well done!!!!! Other ladies enjoyed the Rasta pasta and oxtail, chicken wings, beef Pattie’s, festival Fresh fruit juices was enjoyed by all. Coho was an excellent server great personality.
Ordered from here today for the first time and was pleasantly surprised at how good this restaurant was i got the oxtail /jerk chicken peas n rice it was absolutely delicious. definitely be back.. I have to try the festivals next time! big up to yall best caribbean food ive found in dfw since living here My one recommendation is for the jerk chicken would be better if they grilled it
I have been looking for a good Jamaican restaurant in DFW and I finally found one. Jamaica Gates is awesome! The food is very delicious, the atmosphere is great and their staff and leadership is unmatched. I am a happy camper now that I have found them. I highly recommend you try it out, you will love it as much as I do.
Pleasant experience from the ambience to the food. This is the place we come to when we want authentic Carribean food. Edit- food is delicious as always, but I don't remember having to pay an extra $4.50 for a side of mac n cheese, so I didn't get it this time. I believe this is new and I don't like it. It's a regular side dish so im confused about the additional charge.
I'm a truck driver passing thru and found this restaurant and ordered delivery on Door Dash. The oxtails and steamed vegetables tasted good. My only issue was that they didn't have the pineapple upside down cake. But, that didn't take away how good everything else was.
Absolutely Amazing customer service every time me and my family dine here the food is ALWAYS PHENOMENAL we're Never disappointed so the drive is well worth it. my real Jamaican amigos recommended this restaurant to me. i Always order Kingston trio jerk chicken jerk pork and my husband orders goat 🐐 I love the cabbage 🥬 with that sauce it's SO DELICIOUS
Let me start of with one word to describe our dining experience... WOW! Started with the Fried Plantain. Very simply made and was outstanding. I had the Kingston Trio with the Rude Boy Jerk Chicken, Brown Stew Chicken and the Oxtails with the cabbage and rice & peas. I am not a big fan of bones in food; however, it is a must with the Jamaican cuisine. My meal was SO DELICIOUS! One of my top, "I must come back" restaurants. Bonus, the bread pudding was delicious. The staff was on point. Bree took time to explain the different dishes and had great customer service skill. I met the chief and let him know their food was amazing and I would be sure to share my experience.
If you want to Caribbean food this restaurant is a must. It has so many different options from beef Pattie’s to curry goat on the menu. The drinks are strong and delicious not watery. The vibe is chill and music is reggae, soca, and dancehall. There is also live performances on certain dates. Service is good.
If you are looking for authentic Jamaican Food, you have found it. My husband found this hidden jewel by accident. He met an employee “DJ” who is fantastic. DJ went over the menu with us, introduced us to the Chef “a very nice & polite man “the executive”. The customer service was SUPERB! They treated us & all the patrons there like royalty. We got take out order ESCOVITCH FISH & CURRY SHRIMP with Peas & Rice, Steamed Veggies, & Beef Patties. The food was DELICIOUS. DJ also had us try a sample of a Watermelon with ginger beverage which was a thirst quencher & great taste. I will definitely order that along with my food on my next trip. You have to experience this restaurant! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Love this place! The owner is friendly and very welcoming. I’ve had their cabbage, mac & cheese, and the majority of their meats – catfish, oxtails, curry chicken, curry goat, jerk chicken. The drinks are good, especially the bungo national
A must go!!!! The food was hands down the best I’ve tasted . The seasoning , tenderness , well marinated, veggies , Rum Punch drink , One Love drink , and of course red stripe to top off the dinner . This place was clean , staff was extremely professional, polite , customer service was amazing from the servers to bar tender, cleaners , cookers , and our waiter. Everyone spoke as well as the customers . Very pleased with the location , perfect place to relax anytime. We look forward to going back Saturday for the live band. ❤️ Well done to the owner and management staff for finding the right people to brand their spot . Loved it ! This place is a must Go !
Jamaica Gates was soooooo GOOD…the food was very hot and fresh!!!! My mom has an autoimmune disorder and so the chef specially made a steamed whole red snapper fish with ingredients that my Mom could eat! The chef was amazing, everyone was very friendly and had good customer service! Thank you Chef Kyle sooo much for taking care of us!!!! 🥰 My mom will be coming back. ***disclaimer *** we had already started eating and the pictures do not give it justice! Way better than it looks!!!
Had to try out this place and to my surprise I wasn’t disappointed one bit! The chef, Kyle was very nice and the food was amazing!!! Friendly staff, good vibes and great food, what more could I ask for? I really enjoyed. I had the oxtails (very much tenderism lol), the ackee and salt fish was to perfection. My boyfriend had the stew chicken which he cleared clean. Food was amazing!!! I’ll be back 😊
Jamaica Gates Restaurant is absolutely amazing! The food is always delicious and full of flavor, and the drinks are strong and well-made. You definitely get your money’s worth because the prices are great too. The music and DJs are exceptionally talented and really set the vibe—it’s always a great atmosphere whether you’re dining, relaxing, or celebrating. On top of that, Teno, the owner, is good people and makes you feel welcome every time. The vibe, the service, and the quality are all top-tier. Highly recommend—this place is truly a gem in Arlington!
As a Jamaican born and raised, and a Texan living in Texas since 2022, I can confidently say that this is the best Jamaican spot I’ve ever eaten at. I ordered rice and peas with cabbage and oxtail. The rice was incredibly delicious, melting in my mouth at a perfect rate. The cabbage was crunchy, which I prefer. The oxtail was also fantastic, though I’m not sure if I should even rate it. Overall, I would give it a 10 out of 10. Tali, our server, was incredibly hospitable and exuded positive energy. Even though the food was exceptional, she would have let me return. I highly recommend this place to anyone seeking authentic Jamaican cuisine. Ps. My partner even ordered additional rice and peas and gravy
I placed a pickup order and everything went perfectly! The order was ready on time, well-packaged, and exactly as requested. The food was fresh, flavorful, and clearly prepared with care. Pickup was quick and smooth, and the staff was friendly and efficient. I’ll definitely be ordering again!
We just moved from Portland, Oregon to Arlington, Tx. We found Jamaica Gates by chance, when I was craving Oxtails. I have ordered the Oxtails entree twice weekly ever since. The meals are so delicious, and flavorful!! I’m obsessed with Jamaica Gates quality & quantity of each entree. We have dinned in and have many deliveries to our front door. The prices are great, and the portions are very generous. This is the Best Jamaican food in town!!
Jamaica Gates in Arlington is the kind of place that makes you pause after the first bite and say, “Yes, this is it.” The food is incredible, the service is warm and attentive, and the menu brings a real taste of Jamaica to Texas in the best way. We tried the oxtails, curry goat, jerk chicken, and jerk pork, and every dish delivered. The oxtails were tender and deeply seasoned, the curry goat was rich and comforting, and the jerk meats had that perfect balance of heat, smoke, and flavor. The rice and peas were absolutely delectable, and the plantains and sides were so good they could be a meal on their own. If you love Jamaican food, you have to come here. If you are new to it, this is the perfect introduction, authentic, satisfying, and full of soul. Huge thanks to the chef, Chef Kyle Williams. You can taste the care and craft in every plate. We will be back.

I came for my birthday dinner. It was nice. Food was good. My first time having goat. It was good just not my fav. Beef patties were on point. Jerk chicken was good. Oxtails were slightly salty but that may just be me. I also had a cantaloupe, honeydew, ginger drink. I dont remember exactly what it was called but it was good. Will def be back to try some more stuff
So glad this place survived the pandemic. Definitely one of my favorite DDD joints. Great food and fun atmosphere. Used to go on Fri and Sat nights when there was live music. Rated one star low because food still being served in to go containers. If you like it spicy ask for the scotch bonnet sauce.
My husband and I visited Jamaican Gates for the first time for like an early evening dinner. The food was really good and our server was really nice as well. The only couple of things I took issue with was that instead of serving cups of water that’s usually free at any restaurant they were selling $2 bottles of water. That may have been a temporary fix to maybe an issue they were having with their water but I’m not sure and I don’t want to assume. Especially because we had to pay for it. But the $2 water bottles for dine in was weird to me. Also when we tried to pay using their online payment system we were told it sometimes doesn’t work. My recommendation is to just have customers that dine in to just pay with card directly to the server so it alleviates confusion in the future. Overall, I did enjoy the food and the atmosphere and would recommend others to try this hidden carribean gem in Arlington!
My husband and I stopped by here since we saw them on TikTok. He had oxtails and I had jerk chicken. The jerk kitchen was SO favorable and just the right amount of spicy. There was even enough to eat on the next day. My husband didn’t care for the oxtails and stated that it was more bone than meat. Love the music! I was dancing the entire time that I ate and the “lemonade” was clearly homemade and delicious as well! The service was okay but I understand them being more comfortable with people they already knew. (They we’re more talkative to these two ladies they knew) I will be back for sure!
While being in Fort Worth for about a week. Had a craving for Jamaican food so look up this place. The service was a little slow, but we had a very pleasant waitress who smile often and made the wait worth it. The food is very flavorful and delicious. I tried the jerk chicken and my fiancé had the oxtail as shown in the picture below. We got some plantains, which I forgot to take a picture of but the were really hot and delicious, like fresh out the grease or grill, with a soft and sweet middle but a crunchy outside. The jerked chicken and oxtail was seasoned well. The jerked was not too spicy but just enough to satisfy a spicy need. Now if you like it really spicy then I recommend that you ask for hot sauce. He had sautéed veggies and I had cabbage (which had a bit of a crunch which was nice! I personally hate to soggy cabbage), we both had rice and peas. Looks like they have an area for live music, so probably would be a cool thing to check out! If you in the Jamaican food should check this place out! The reason for the 4 stars and not 5 is just due to the slow service.
First time here. Had the fried catfish lunch. Very tasty for sure. However the lunch portion is only one piece of fish and only one side which left me still hungry even for lunch. That said I'll prob return and eat lunch again as it was just that good. Perhaps next time I'll just order the dinner portion... although nobody was performing during lunch hours they obviously are set up for live performances.
All I can say is for $25 a plate I should at least get more thank two piece of jerk chixken Jerk chicken/chicken stew / beef patties 10/10 Best Jamaican spot in the Arlington area 🫶🏾🥰 Drink are self explanatory I got a 1800 drink on happy hour. It was literally a glass of 1800 straight. I couldn’t complain. Food came out fast hot fresh and didn’t miss with the flavor.. the music is at a perfect level to where it gives a vibe but you can stop have a comfortable conversation at the same time. Come check them out it would worth a try!
I must say that they're good! I'm not sure what Jamaican food taste like, but after trying Jamaican oxtails for the 3rd time I can say that they're pretty good especially compared to the other places I've tried . These oxtails had me coming back for more (out of the 3 Jamaican places that I tried... they were the best compared to: The Island Spot and Roland's). Their oxtails were tender and they had the BEST flavor compared to the other restaurants, however, Roland's oxtails meat had WAY more meat on the bone and their cabbage was better in terms of flavor, but not crunch! Ion like soft vegetables but that's my preference... Rolands had soft cabbage....while Jamaican Gates had more crunchy (my type) cabbage that tasted well esp. when it was mixed with the oxtail sauce ... Gates fries were very salty and simliar tasting to McDonald's.. and The Island Spot (Carrollton) was just was a HARD NO for me on EVERYTHING....NO to flavor, tenderness, sides, etc. ... but hey what do I know about Jamaican food 🤷🏽♀️ I'm new to this💯

The food is good brown stew chicken, mixed vegetables, cabbage are my favorite. Jerk chicken is delicious.
This was my first time eating here and liked the Jerk Chicken. Good and Spicy. Rice and Beans were slightly dry,but I simply mixed it with my chicken and it still tasted great!
This was a the first experience for me. I had my mind set on the jerk chicken nachos which I wasn't able to get. So I chose the oxtails They were okay The jerk chicken was spicy according to my friend palette really spicy but she enjoyed it. The rice was dry the cabbage was awesome. I may go back at a busier time we did go when they were closing.
I’ve been here a few times throughout the years. One area that’s been consistent is portions but unfortunately the quality and flavors have gone down. The dish in the photo is their Jamaican Curry Chicken with rice and peas, steamed cabbage, and a beef patty. The flavors were not bold and authentic like I know Jamaican food to be - I was a bit disappointed. Two positives is that the beef patty was amazing and there was live music as I waited for my order. This establishment definitely knows how to create a fun and friendly atmosphere. Let me know if this review was helpful or if you have any questions!
My Oxtails were as usual deeeelicious. But the vegetables were spoiled. I got my order to-go and left it on our kitchen counter for about an hour before ate it. I'm very surprised they spoiled so soon our house has a very good AC system so it wasn't hot in the home. My beef patty was tasty.
My daughter ordered the three meat combo, on-line of oxtail stew, curry goat, and stew chicken. She only received bones for the oxtail, and was very disappointed. The food is tasty, but we still don't know what the oxtail tastes like. I told her not to go back, or to check her food prior to leaving if she does go back. She trusted that they would do right. Disappointed.
I've been to Jamaica once and I had the best jerk chicken in the country. It was a store that we stopped at on the way to our resort. The man had a grill on the porch of this store. When I came to this restaurant to order the jerk chicken and an oxtail plate, the light bulb went off. Get a grill for the jerk chicken. It was just ok. The oxtail plate was ok. One big one and the rest were small. The cabbage was a lil crunchy but overall, the food is good. The waitress was nice, the bartender not so much but the rum punch was on point. The decor is Jamaican! I loved that part and I loved the music!
So we tried and it’s gonna be a no for me. The is edible so I gave it 3 stars but it’s not Jamaican food. I’m of Jamaican descent from Brooklyn and the only place so far that has real Jamaican food is Roland’s. We order Jerk chicken that was Definitely NOT jerk chicken. Come on it’s TX invest in a grill and do the chicken right. Portions definitely not worth the money. The only good thing was the Chicken patty. I will come back for that but nothing else. It sucks I was hoping to love it because Roland’s is kind of far from me but it’s worth it!
Get the trio plate that way you can sample a few different items.\n\nFor me the curry goat and jerk chicken were the stars of the show, the oxtails were okay but I've have better.\n\nThis particula…
Food temperature was warm. I like my food temperature to be hot. Didn't get refill on my water; but, overall, the waitress was friendly and nice! Ticket was pretty over priced than what I am used to paying for my meal.
I’ve been coming here off and on over the past 5 years or so. Never had a bad experience. Service is always cool. This time, I ordered my food and it came out within 3 minutes. Not hot or fresh. Even my beef patty was lukewarm. I ate the beef patty, one chicken leg, some rice and peas along with some cabbage. About an hour later, I had diarrhea along with the urge to vomit. It was the ONLY food I had in hours. It really turned me off. Especially when the plate was $19 but super small. The portion sizes and quality had gone down. I hope they fix this.
Pace has really turned a new leaf since COVID went from one of the best spots in DFW to dry subpar tasting meals. Was so excited to be able to stop by my favorite place since coming back to town and I was highly disappointed in the 180 turn 😭
I placed an order for an oxtail dinner on grub hub and paid online. I picked up the order and was very disappointed to find that I had all bones and no meat on my oxtails. It looked as though the meat had fallen off (perhaps into the pot while cooking). For $20+ for this meal that is disappointing. They should have taken more pride in the dish that was served. I uploaded photos of the oxtails and I put them next to a coke bottle top for sizing reference. I absolutely do not recommend this place. I picked them based on the reviews, however they definitely did not live up to them. I will not be back.
My entire order was wrong I received soup that I DID NOT ORDER nor can I attempt to eat because I’m ALLERGIC to one of the ingredients in it! I asked for double cabbage as you can see that is not what I received. Also I wanted only oxtails and pork but received I’m assuming goat! I also ordered shrimp that I just didn’t get at all! I tried contacting the establishment itself but the number obviously doesn’t take calls so I’m sitting here with food that I don’t want and not way to rectify the situation because there is no one to speak to. I’m so disappointed and stuck at work with no food now
First of all get rid of the crickets in the restaurant who wants to be eating and it's crickets crawling all over the place, I ordered the curry goat and it was OK not tender at all, then for the first time in a while I left a 0 tip, the waitress was not friendly I could say more but I've stop giving tips for horrible service, the best thing I had was the fries, I had to use my salad dressing for both my wings and salad half and half because my waitress bought me some wings with no sauce and I dared not ask because of her horrible attitude, definitely WONT be back to this place
As a delivery driver, I was treated with complete disrespect by the staff at Jamaica Gates. They were rude and dismissive when I arrived to pick up an order, acting like I was an inconvenience. The unprofessional attitude made the experience frustrating and stressful. Despite their tasty food, I won’t pick up deliveries from here again until they show basic respect to drivers.
I truly wanted to enjoy my experience here because I make it a point to support Black-owned businesses—especially as a Black business owner myself. Unfortunately, this is my second time ordering, and I must be honest: the quality has been disappointing both times. The cabbage was extremely hard and not properly cooked—nowhere near the tenderness I’ve experienced at other Caribbean spots where, even if it’s slightly firm, it’s still passable. The oxtails were inconsistent in size, with one being large but the rest much smaller, and the portions only got tinier after that. The big oxtail also had fat all around it, which made it unpleasant to enjoy. The rice and peas had good flavor, but they were a little dry and clumped together. The beef patty, however, was very good. I also ordered a side of jerk chicken, and it was very dry without the distinct jerk flavor I was expecting. The other chicken I tried was tough, as if it wasn’t fully cooked with the level of care and professionalism needed. I’m confused how that’s even possible—perhaps the wing was cooked through, which made it dry, but technically fully cooked if that makes sense. I really wanted to give this restaurant another chance, but this second experience was actually worse than my first. As someone who knows the challenges of running a business, I don’t take leaving reviews like this lightly. I want to see Black businesses thrive and succeed, but in order to do that, consistency and quality have to be a priority.
