My fiancee and I grabbed an early dinner at this charming mountain town restaurant while taking a short vacation to Taos and were completely blown away by the quality. A pleasantly chic, polished and low key dining room full of unstained wood and a sweet dog named Basil greeted us, seating was immediate (but we had reservations and were slightly early.) Waiters were attentive and other servers grabbed small things and refilled waters regularly, including checking in for the final check despite a by then full dining room. He menu is divided evenly between entrees and small plates, which also double as appetizers. Advertising as uplifted American the current menu seems to be taking several nods from Thai cooking, something I cant be too upset about. We got an order of the birria egg rolls, the chefs protein (a locally sourced "wangus" filet with potatoes, summer squash and a Chile sauce), and the arroz con puerco, a marinated pork belly over rice and corn. Add in a roasted sishito/grapefruit amuse bouche, cocktail, wine and a decadently creamy berry cheesecake with its fantastic berry topping and quenelle of house whipped cream and it's a meal worth driving for. Flavor and presentation on everything was excellent. My fillet was meltingly tender, as was the pork belly, both cooked exquisitely. The birria egg rolls was a particularly enjoyable surprise, incredibly crisp with no extra oil. The bean sprouts served with it were impeccable, a sign of a restaurant with excellent QC and provisioning because God knows you can't keep a bean sprouts fresh for more than about five minutes. I'm not a restaurant critic, I don't eat out that often, but this meal destroyed anything else I've had in New Mexico in the last 9 months. It was better than Sazon certainly.

The French Wagu x Angus stew was amazing and very hearty. The Brussels sprouts covered with parmesan also was delicious. The Peanut butter pie has been a long time favorite. Lively place in Seco for dinner.

Are you kidding?! This place is off the charts terrific. Worth the price. And I love that we can pay homage to the chefs by ringing the gong—which we did heartily! We had the wagyu beef and the duck and pasta. Also shared an amazing roasted Romaine Caesar salad and grand marnier crème brûlée.

We were first time here - and we have one of the best restaurant experience ever. Relaxed ambience, nice music. The food was excellent (Wangus filet mignon, Achiote sweet chile chicken, key lime pie), also the wine list. Our server Michelle did a great job, thank you! We would like to return asap!

My team and I were in town for a wedding over the weekend and visited ECEQ on saturday night. We loved everything about it. Great food, fun drinks, and amazing service. I stood by the kitchen for a while to watch them prep our meals and I was. blown away by how they worked as a team to ensure everything was fresh, on time, and beautiful. This is off the beaten path, but what isn't in Taos, right?!?!

The last evah plate of Birra Eggrolls they plan on serving, a little edible history I guess. Great spot for dinner!

Hands down the best food in the Taos area! If you are in town you have to make the short trip up to Arroyo Seco to visit this spot. I mean, the photos speak for themselves. I stumbled on it when searching for a great place to get a steak, and between half of the Taos restaurants being closed during the week and those that weren’t having questionable reviews, I expanded our search and am so glad I did! Our server was extremely knowledgeable and friendly, and the food rivals some of the best restaurants in our foodie home town of Austin. The food quality was out of this world, and the flavor combination on the fried nori canapé we got was SO unique and delicious! Definitely don’t skip out on the bison bone marrow or steak if on the menu, either. We got a wangus ribeye, and it was perfectly medium well and so flavorful from the flame grill it was charred on. We were so excited to dig in after the amazing appetizers that we forgot to take a photo before we started eating 😂 We walked out so full and happy, and for an amazing price point for fine dining. Usually I leave a high end experience wanting to eat a snack due to small portion sizes, but what we ordered was an insane bang for our buck on flavor and portion. You have to come here if you are in the area!!

Experienced Chef Safford's new menu tonight. Wonderful dinner of lamb chops with corn ribs - the corn ribs are exceptional, the lamb chops delicious. My wife found the Korean BBQ Bahn Mai flavorful. We highly recommend Aceq Restaurant if you're anywhere near Taos. Wish we lived closer to enjoy all of Chef Safford's culinary offerings.

What's the quickest way to turn a small mountain town into a five-star resort? Add a restaurant like Aceq. We ate here 3 out of the 5 nights we spent near Arroyo Seco, and were never disappointed. The service and food quality here are second to none. The steak, although a bit expensive, was one of the best I've had anywhere.

I went here yesterday for my bday just my son and I. The service and food were good. I felt very well accommodated for my birthday. I would definitely recommend for your special occasion.

If you are near Taos Ski Valley, THIS is the restaurant you want to have dinner at. Everything on the menu is exquisite. Amazing service from our server Nick from the moment we walked in to the last bite of dessert. The flavors are divine and expertly spiced and seasoned. Consistently impressed by the food in this quiet little community.

We were referred to this restaurant by a local and we couldn’t have picked a better place to celebrate the last day of our vacation trip to Taos. Elijah and his crew are truly welcoming and deserving of a five star status the brussels sprouts were amazing the entrées were awesome and the desserts were amazing

Wowowowow so happy we were able to get a table on v-day late notice. Our server was over the top - told us his favorites and boy were they good - special was a filet Mignon 👌🏽 I had the duck and it was truly exceptional. Hard to find a restaurant that does duck right and they certainly did. We also had the elote appetiser that I loved. The peanut butter dessert put us over the edge. It was delicious! All of it was soo soo good and triple gong worthy.

This is a fantastic restaurant serving a delicious and ever-changing menu. They have many different alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage options. This is one of the few places I have been that I would rate 6 stars out of 5 if that were possible. The staff are also all wonderful people that do their very best to give you a wonderful dining experience.

Our favorite! I love the specials, the seasonal menu, the service, the wine pairing with the specials, the atmosphere, and feeling good about the food I'm eating. We love bringing friends here when they visit Taos. Last time I had the ratatouille with shrimp and loved it. We always get the brussel sprouts and always ALWAYS get the key lime pie.

Just an incredible experience. Ate here first in February 25 and had the best steaks of our lives. Came in from Denver for my birthday dinner specifically to eat here and it may have been better than our first time. Beef Bourguignon, wangus filet, corn elote ribs…I could go on and on. My son proclaimed it’s his “favorite restaurant” and I think it’s mine as well. The service matches the food…could be best ever. Precise descriptions and recommendations by the staff with passion for food. I’m not a fan of the lighting here, but maybe it adds something with its simplicity. This is a secret gem and love the location in Arroyo Seco…charming.

An incredible dining experience with excellent service and ambience in Arroyo Seco. This is now one of my favorites restaurants… The Wangus Steak is probably the best beef flavor in a steak that I’ve ever had—rich, deep, and earthy. It’s the type of steak which actually it feels like a crime to eat with sauce. The cocktails are excellent (and strong!!), with the Cadillac Margarita and the House Old Fashioned being highlights. Every plate was beautifully designed and it seems like the staff really cares about delivering an excellent meal. The price is absolutely worth it, and being from Ann Arbor where this meal would have cost about 2X this much, I left grateful.

My wife and I went here for our 25th anniversary at the recommendation of my cousin's friend. Amazing food, the staff was excellent (acknowledged our anniversary and provided great service), and the open air atmosphere was perfect! We will recommend to anyone!

One of the better dining experiences I’ve had, and in such a small, remote village! Heading up to Taos Ski Area is the small village of Arroyo Seco. This place is magical! And in this very tiny village sits this lovely, sincere restaurant, Aceq. They seem to pride themselves on wild caught, local, or farm specific…annd the staff each seem like owners! We had a variety of offerings, including perfect cocktails, shareable plates, and entrees. The experience was near perfect.

This is THE place to go for a great experience. I can't say enough about how much I enjoyed my time here. I left uncomfortably full, but it was worth it. The service was outstanding. Our waiter was friendly and informative. The vibe of the place was awesome. Decorations were great and the open window view brought everything together. The food was some of the most visually pleasing I've seen. The flavors were off the charts and the menu selection made me wand two stomachs. It was a bit pricey, but I'd gladly pay whatever they ask in order to recreate the experience I had here.

I'm from Portugal. The food in my country needs no introduction. I've been in the United States for 3 years and I've never found food here that had the same level of quality and freshness... But yesterday at dinner I was surprised by what I found. The lamb and steak were incredibly fresh and tender. The side dishes, especially the sweet corn, were the best sweet corn I've ever eaten. The dishes were very well prepared and tasty. My congratulations to the chef and his suppliers for the quality of the products (for a chef to make a good dish, it's not just about being the best chef in the world, but also about having the freshest and most quality products). When you have that in your restaurant, the end result can only be of unique excellence.

We try to eat here every time we are in Taos (1-2 times per year). Last night was the best ever. We had the brussel sprouts, birria egg rolls and wangus pomme frites. All amazing! Service is great but not fast - relax and enjoy it!

ACEQ is absolutely incredible. From the menu to the food itself, and everything in between - we were blown away. We cannot wait to get back. Tonight we ordered the Meatloaf (special), Pasta, Bison Bone Barrow, and Brussels Sprouts. All amongst our favorite we’ve ever had anywhere. 10/10 will be back.

We reserved a table, unknowingly, for the day before the menu changed from Winter to Spring; a few of the items on the menu were out of stock like the Cod and Scallops. I ended up getting the Beef Bourguignon. It was very well seasoned, and you could smell the wine in the bourguignon sauce. The meat was a bit dry, in my opinion, and it had more carrots than potatoes and mushrooms. Overall, I really enjoyed this dish. The rich and savory bourguignon is so amazing.

Took my girlfriend there for her birthday dinner, add the lobster stuffed chili rellenos, absolutely amazing and the service was incredible! Absolutely made her night and I highly recommend as a former chef myself.

Wonderful discovery! Quaint restaurant with a good vibe. Owner is very personable, staff is friendly and I sat in the side bar and watched the crew of chefs work magic! Had the bacon wrapped dates, fried Brussel sprouts and the soup of the day… all in a class of their own. I didn’t have the special but I snagged a pic of it and it looked so interesting. Cheesecake was excellent, too. I travel a lot and this is a top notch spot! I’ll be back… Likely each night I’m in the area!

Wow! We had an amazing dining experience. Starting with excellent cocktails. Three of us had the waygu bison special. Indescribably delicious. Everything was well prepared. We had a great bottle of Italian red suggested by our server.

We enjoyed another tasty meal tonight at ACEQ in the bar seating area - this time with a view of the hard working chefs and staff spinning their craft in the micro kitchen area, plating each dish, adding final sauces and engaging with each other and guests. We are lucky to have ACEQ as our neighborhood eatery.

ACEQ provided one of the best meals we’ve had in awhile. While a bit expensive, none of it seemed too much for what you get. We had three four appetizers and two entrees, and everything was great! In particular, we had the Lion’s Mane Mushroom Cake appetizer and it was probably the best thing I’ve eaten in a year (and I eat a lot : )). The staff was a bit young and missed some beats, taking my plate without asking (I wasn’t quite done) and not asking if we wanted another drink. But still 5 stars for us.

We went for Thanksgiving and had a traditional dinner, so I didn't try their normal menu. Food and drink were great. Friendly service.

Food was exquisite! The truffle fries and lions mane mushroom cakes: phenomenal. Beef Bourguignon and the Schweinerbraten were the entrees, and I'm so glad I got to share between everything! Brad and the staff were amazing...haven't been in a year and I'm definitely coming back sooner than a year this time. Schweinerbraten was my favorite!

Stopped in for a few apps and bevs. after a long day exploring. They happily seated us. Amazing fried Brussel sprouts and tasty hummus plate with warned pita bread, grape leaf dalmas and pickled veggies. Got a slice of the peanut butter chocolate pie to go, amazing and decadent. Nice selection of worldly wines and beers. Thanks for thre experience!

Came to this place based on a friends recommendation when in Taos for the weekend. The vibe was great, service was good but most of the meats we got were undercooked (steak and burger). Everything tasted fantastic including the apps, drinks and desserts.

N

Brussels sprouts with Manchego and balsamic drizzle, and bacon wrapped dates for an app. Had the Ono with miso and saffron rice for dinner. Great! Only draw back was the owner was supposed to deliver the printed menus before our party arrived for the wedding reception, and he was late with them. Service was very attentive, and Chef Lucas offered to tell us about the menu items if the printed menus didn't arrive. A great experience overall!

A laid back atmosphere, lots of good times have taken place there and you can feel it. The bathroom is covered in memories, which I found really cool. The food was really delicious. Shouts out to our waiter Elijah, very accommodating and knowledgeable with wine selections. I got the fettuccine with chicken, very filling, big portions. Would definitely recommend and go back in the future.

I came in to ACEQ by myself, early for my reservation and luckily they were able to seat me right away in the main dining room. Note that the happy hour menu is only available in the bar. All of the staff I interacted with were warm, polite and helpful. The drinks were perfect. Overall the food was good, but there were a couple little details that made me decide on 4 stars, mostly because it's pricey and well regarded and the little things matter to me. The elote corn ribs were cooked well but they needed salt, there wasn't enough cotija to make up for the unseasoned corn. And there are no salt shakers on the tables. The mole was great though. So then I ordered the lamb small plate and the Butternut squash gnocchi. After a long while the server comes and says that they do not have the gnocchi tonight actually. So I get the Brussels sprouts instead. And it took a pretty long time for the food to come after that. The lamb was tender and cooked properly in my opinion, seasoned nicely. But the pea puree that was piped on the plate was kinda crusty like it had been on there a while, it was okay. The pickled red onions were good but the only sign of chimichurri I could find was some big chunks of herb stems. The Brussels sprouts were perfectly cooked, caramelized, crunchy. They had a good amount of cheese and pickled red onion, but there were like 4 marinated raisins and barley any almonds on them, which made me sad because the couple bites I got with all the elements were so good. At this point I'd been there an hour and twenty minutes and I wanted dessert but I was anxious because it says on the menu not to stay longer than an hour and a half. I asked and they said I was fine, which is good because I just had a starter and a main and it wasn't really my fault I was there so long. I ordered a creme brulee for desert and they knocked that out of the park. I thought the custard was the perfect texture, I loved the sweetness level and the vanilla flavor. Overall I had a nice time and would go again if I lived in the area. Just a few little things.

J
John

Despite the charming setting, friendly service, and thoughtfully prepared meal, it didn’t quite rank among the best. Take, for example, the birria egg rolls, while they were perfectly acceptable judging by the neighborhood Mexican and Chinese restaurant standard, the taste didn’t elevate the humble ingredients.

S
SJ

They need to figure out how to keep food warm before it gets to the table. First order of fries was cold, I mentioned it and they replaced them with even colder ones. Not sure if they just sat a long time or what. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff.
