Una piacevole scoperta per una cenetta in tre. Locale intimo e accogliente con camino acceso. Ho assaggiato i Samosa che erano molto buoni, non unti e già tagliati a metà, con uno yogurt strepitoso accanto per smorzare il piccante. Il Biryami servito in un coccio ricoperto di crosta di pane e tagliata al momento è scenografico e ottima la versione fusion vegetariano con tartufo e non sò come, ma il riso manteneva la tostatura giusta. Per finire cone dolce una Mousse di cioccolato delicata che concludeva perfettamente senza cadute di stile. La sfida di fondere la cucina indiana e umbra è stata ampiamente superata

This wonderful restaurant in Assisi is unique amongst the many fine restaurants on offer. It is small, warm and welcoming with exceptionally fresh and interesting dishes.The menu offers such a different selection compared to most others. I am sure you will love dining there as much as I did.

We didn't realize when we first came in that this was Italian with an Indian flair, we were just looking for a place that could accommodate our group of 9. We were warmly welcomed and the small menu had enough diversity to please all of us. There are dishes that are purely Italian, gnocchi with pesto and tagliatelle with ragu, but there was also a vegetarian pasta full of vegetables and Indian spices. The standout though was a mozzarella stuffed pasta on a puree of beet with an orange sauce. This was one of the most interesting (and delicious) plates of food I have ever encountered. Everyone from the 10 year old to the 78 year old was happy with their order.

This place is small and so calming. The service was incredible and the waitress, Tracy, was so kind and always made time to have small talk with her customers! The food is a mix of Indian and Italian that packs so much flavor! The food does take a bit of time, but it is worth the wait!

My 12-year-old daughter and I visited for lunch, and I have to say that after seven days in Italy, this was our best dining experience so far. The fusion of Italian and Indian cuisine here is simply a masterpiece! Everything was fantastic—the service, the atmosphere, and most importantly, the food. For appetizers, we had the eggplant meatballs and the lentil soup. It was so good that we finished it before we even had the chance to take pictures! For our main dishes, we ordered the Cappellacci di bufala with orange sauce (which was a celebration of flavors in my mouth!) and the Tagliatelle al ragù di verdure. My daughter was so amazed by the flavors that she was speechless with every bite! We wanted to try dessert, knowing it would be mind-blowing, but we were too stuffed! I would give this experience a perfect 10/10 and highly recommend it. I hope we have the opportunity to come back! Thank you for providing us with such a wonderful experience! ❤️✨

Nonna Nini is an incredible Umbrian dining experience. It blends the classic cuisine of the area with some mouth watering fusion options as well. I’ve dined here on multiple trips and sent others here as well. We always come away raving about the food and the experience. What a wonderful and unique experience! Our group of 6 originally had planned to eat elsewhere, but we stumbled upon Nonna Nini and we are so happy we did! The owner was extremely kind and shared her story of how her delicious menu items came about. This is not your typical Italian, but I can guarantee it’s one of the best restaurants we ate at while in Italy. Indian spices paired and balanced perfectly with Italian dishes. (But don’t forget to try the samosas and Biryani!!) As you can tell by the photo… we enjoyed everything!

Just splendid!! Tracey (US) and Sanjeev (New Delhi) have managed to serve up authentic, tasty treats that's Umbria meets India and not compromising on any of the flavors at all!! I knew from the moment I had the samosa I needed to try the gnocchi AND the biryani..yes, all of that plus at least 4 glasses of Tracey's selections from local wine producers meant the evening was spent as if it would never end with good conversations and even greater food to accompany it all!! I cannot wait to see what new recipe the duo will cook up when I return to Assisi years from now. They really do deserve to be visited by curious diners who appreciate good food in Umbria! Kudos !!

We had a superb meal here! The fusion samosas with side salad were so flavorful, delicious, amazing! The tagliatelle verdure was Indian inspired and excellent. The eggplant parmigiana was excellent. I asked the Italian speaking server recommended a dry red wine for me and it was really good. I wish I had time to come back here and eat more.

I normally never eat at a restaurant more than once on a vacation so I can visit as many as possible. I ended up eating here three times on our visit to assisi. The food and the atmosphere and staff are amazing.

This restaurant provides traditional Italian foods and fusion of Indian foods. The owner lady is very kind and fluent of speaking English, so we didn't have any trouble to choose what I want to eat. Gnokki with truffle was savory and talliatelle alla ragu was also good! For antipasto, I recommend salmosa, which looks like pallapel, but it made me feel taste of Indian cusine. Overall, I was really impressed by the enthusiasm of the owner lady and great taste of all the dishes! I think it was worth trying, if you go to Assisi and look for where to go to have lunch.

Location molto tranquilla nel centro di Assisi, personale molto presente e attento (forse con un po' d'ansia). Menù sintetico e con piatti che andrebbero spiegati meglio. Piatti eccellenti, alcuni dei quali con un tocco indiano.

Locale piccolo ma accogliente. Siamo stati serviti da una cameriera molto competente che ci ha spiegato il menu (anche la parte gluten free). Abbiamo preso un tagliere misto formaggi e salumi, ed un primo gnocchi alla norcina. Tutto molto buono, soprattutto le marmellate, il miele al tartufo e la salsiccia col tartufo. Ottimo il primo. Prezzi nella norma. Consigliata la prenotazione soprattutto nei weekend ed alta stagione.

A cena in famiglia, salumi buoni, gnocchetti alla Norcina buoni, polpette speziate sfiziose, lasagna bianca ai carciofi da rivedere (gusto dei carciofi assente), buona carta dei vini, l'accoglienza da migliorare, con i tavoli liberi far accomodare le persone (con prenotazione) che si presentano 15 minuti prima e' sicuramente un atto cortese, è brutto sentirsi dire adesso no! nel complesso tutto piu che sufficiente.

Difficile l’approccio iniziale ma una volta inseriti nell’ambiente l’accoglienza si accalora e la proprietaria si propone con calore e simpatia. Un po’ azzardato connubio cucina umbra ed indiana ma i piatti consumati si sono rilevati di gusto inaspettato ma piacevole. Per la mia allergia assolutamente approvato divieto ingressi ai cani.

Sono stata a pranzo con un’amica. Abbiamo ordinato entrambe due porzione di lasagne con carciofi. Purtroppo i carciofi erano davvero pochi e si sentivi principalmente la besciamella e il formaggio, però di gusto comunque buone. Anche il dolce niente male. Forse un po’ caro, soprattutto le cose da bere.

Capitati in passeggiata e consigliati dalle recensioni in rete. Speravamo di trovare piatti locali ma neanche gli gnocchi alla norcina erano un granché, il profumo del tartufo assente. Salsiccia M.I.A. Made in Assisi, semplice salsiccia su purè con cipolla e uva… la cheesecake aveva qualche giorno di troppo… Locale non grandissimo.

Titolo: non è una trattoria italiana. E dovrebbe essere maggiormente evidenziato. E non c’è nulla di male: ma se andate da Nonna Nini pensando che sia una caratteristica trattoria umbra, rimarrete delusi. Come siamo rimasti noi. Quasi tutto il menù è di piatti indiani, e anche le portate italiane sono molto speziate.

Il nome può trarre in inganno..diciamo che della cucina della nonna a mio avviso è rimasto poco. Il mix tra cucina indiana ed italiana può essere interessante ma può anche non piacere a tutti: per questo sui piatti della tradizione rimarrei fedele alle ricette senza aggiunte che peggiorano il gusto del piatto

I rarely write reviews like this, but Nonna Nini deserves a warning. The food might be decent if you can look past the real issue: the owner/serving lady is absolutely unhinged. From the moment we walked in, she seemed agitated for no reason, snapping at customers, muttering under her breath, and glaring at anyone who dared ask a question. It’s one thing to be a little stern in a family-run spot, but this was something else entirely—verging on chaotic and aggressive. It’s exhausting, intimidating, and completely unprofessional. The atmosphere suffers immensely because of her erratic behavior—what should be a cozy dining experience feels like navigating a minefield.
