Our favorite local spot for some Korean cuisine. They have a wonderful staff and the space is cute, plus they always keep it clean. We've probably eaten everything on the menu. They have some great lunch combo specials too. It's definitely a nice place to enjoy a good meal and catch up with friends.
Very nice, atmosphere is wonderful for a date
The staff is so lovely and the food is always so delicious, coming here feels like im visiting family.
Amazing food and atmosphere. The staff were super friendly and recommended so many things we liked. Generous portions too. Will definitely visit again.
This restaurant has a great food and knows how to attend their customers. They give you hand sanitizer after you’re seated following with a hand towel dipped in water to clean your hands thoroughly. Great drinks with glowing ice cubes which is so fancy!! Everything at a reasonable price. Aesthetic outdoor dining 😍
I had an incredible dining experience at Mokja! From the moment we walked in, the customer service was amazing—friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The staff truly went above and beyond to make our meal special. The food was absolutely delicious! The Korean BBQ short ribs were perfectly marinated, tender, and full of flavor. The bulgogi was just as impressive—juicy, savory, and cooked to perfection. Every bite was a delight! To top it all off, they surprised me by singing Happy Birthday, making the celebration even more memorable. It was such a thoughtful touch that really showed how much they care about their customers. If you’re looking for great food, a warm atmosphere, and top-notch service, this is the place to go. I can’t wait to come back!
Food and service are excellent at Mokja! Your experience starts with a friendly hostess. Followed by getting offered hand sanitizer and a wet towel before getting the menu. Idk about you but I love this. Do you know or can you imagine how many germs live on menus 🤮?! The next perk is the water is infused with lemon/lime and IDK what else but it’s so tasty. Finally, the best part is the food. We tried the kimchi pancake and the vegetarian bibimbap - delicious! It was crunchy in all the best places and the rice was exquisite. Definitely will return and recommend to everyone!
I came here with my boyfriend last Saturday. We've been meat to check this place and it didn't disappoint. The food is delicious and the service is great. They accommodate your allergies.
I love coming here. The staff is great, the owner is excellent and their food is amazing. It's my go to when I want Korean food. They have a large variety of meals and drinks with affordable prices. Highly recommend.
It was our first time trying korean food and it was the best experience we could have had. The owner personally ensured we tried the most authentic dishes and spent an hour with us to explain what we were eating (and how). It was more than appreciated and because of such a perfect experience, we have been recommending this place to anyone who would listen. We look forward to returning with more people. Thank you for the amazing food and hospitality.
Thank goodness for Mokja. Hands down the first place I go when I’m craving Korean food and it always hits the spot. I went and sat down to eat on New Year’s Day, but have always ordered before then. Every time I’ve ordered, the food came super quick where it was still warm/hot. The food is so good and super authentic. Reminds me a lot of my mom’s cooking and will always appreciate when I feel like I’m eating a home-cooked Korean meal. But honestly, eating at Mokja was the cherry on top. They were super accommodating and offered to move us closer to heat lamps multiple times. Also, they were amazing at checking in and seeing if we needed anything else which is always great given I always need more kimchi. They were even playing older kpop songs that really brought me back. All in all, amazing Korean restaurant, one that I cherish and am thankful for, and can’t wait to eat there again soon!
The service was great and so was the food! We got the galbi and spicy pork bulgogi. I forgot to take pix of our dumplings but the veggie dumplings were also great! Their side dishes (pickled radish, kimchi and potato salad) were so good; my boyfriend said to keep the potato salad!! ☺️☺️ we will def go back for another date night
This place is so cool and very decorative which looks so cool. Also the service is very nice and kind to us. Additionally the food is so good with so many options and they are also really minimal prices. Also, if you have a child, then they will give you cost on forks and spoons which are so cute. Overall, one of the best Korean restaurant I have been to. If you love Korean food, you should really come here!!
I wanted to drink somewhere and try this place instead of regular bar because I was looking for Asahi super dry! They are very friendly and I should try their food next time<3
The best Korean restaurant with the best service. When I lived in NY, this was the go to spot because of the quality of the food and the amazing attentive service. Come here for a great dinner with your spouse or friends! We miss this place so much! We still think about this place LOL
I came to Mokja on a lunch date with a friend. My first time having Korean food. We both had the beef bulgogi with shrimp tempura and a side of fried dumplings. It was delicious! Believe it or not it was actually alot of food in that box! We washed it down with a delish passionfruit spritzer! Very good food, atmosphere, employees are very nice and the prices are just right.
Modern Trendy Korean on Broadway in Astoria. Excellent service and really good food. Really nice Korean style checking wings were super crispy. The Stone Bowl Bibimbap was excellent and the Jjigaes and Mandu soup tasted quite nice. The only thing we didn't like was the mid 00's soundtrack, but thats doesn't matter.
Our first time dinning at Mokja, didn't know what to expect because it was at a random moment that my girlfriend and I decided to dine, and I must say that our experience was a very enjoyable one. Everything from the ambience, decor, hospitality, and the delicious food was overall a great experience. We ordered the pork bun as an appetizer. I order the BBQ Bulgogi meal which came with a bowl of rice and a miso soup. My girlfriend ordered the Pork Belly meal. Which both meals came with lettuce leaves to wrap the meats in as well. Everything came out to be absolutely delicious. The host was very kind and courteous. We even tried a few new things which I was very pleasantly surprised about. She also offered us a delicious Korean beverage called "Makgeolli". Overall great experience, absolutely no complaints, and we will definitely be dinning there again.
I had the immense pleasure of dining at Mojka, a hidden gem of a Korean restaurant nestled in the vibrant neighborhood of Astoria tonight. From the moment we entered, we were embraced by warm and attentive service, along with an aroma that left our taste buds tingling in anticipation. The menu at Mojka offers a delightful fusion of traditional Korean cuisine with modern twists, which was evident in the dishes we ordered. The Bulgogi Nacho was a harmonious marriage of juicy marinated beef and crisp nachos, topped with a generous serving of cheese and spicy mayo. Each bite was a burst of flavor that left us craving for more. Next up was the Bibimbap, a classic Korean dish presented beautifully in a hot stone bowl. The warm, perfectly cooked rice was complemented by a vibrant array of vegetables, savory marinated beef, and a fried egg on top. The gochujang sauce added just the right amount of heat, making it an unforgettable dish that satisfied our palates. The star of the evening, however, was the Beef Bulgogi Steak Sandwich. Tender, succulent bulgogi was nestled between two soft buns, enhanced by a unique Korean-inspired sauce. Each bite was a testament to the chef's skill in crafting an innovative dish that showcases the best of Korean flavors. Throughout our meal, the service at Mojka was nothing short of exceptional. We were personally offered hand sanitizer and a hot towel at the beginning, which was a thoughtful touch in ensuring our comfort and safety. The manager checked in with us several times, making sure that our experience was nothing less than perfect. Mojka is a must-visit for anyone seeking an extraordinary culinary adventure in Astoria. The unique dishes, impeccable service, and welcoming atmosphere ensure that you will leave with a satisfied stomach and a longing to return. Don't miss out on this fantastic dining experience!
I remember dining in at this place even before moving to Astoria and that’s when I immediately fell in love with their food. The service, the attention to detail, friendly but very clean environment adds up to a highly satisfying experience. As a Korean who was born and raised in Korea, I can confidently say this will be one of the top Korean restaurants in New York. 너무 잘 먹고 갑니다 :)
This is a great spot! The food is excellent as is the service, and the prices are quite reasonable. My wife and I stumbled on this place and it will be a new go to in the area for Korean food. If you are in the area I highly recommend to stop in here. We were on bikes and they gracious enough to let us keep them inside the front door.
The food here is amazing, especially the wings. I'm a wing enthusiast, and this is one of the best wings I have ever had. Other foods I have tried here are galbi, soft tofu stew, japchae, and bibimbap. All of them are excellent. Staff are friendly and prompt, and the interior is clean and appealing. This is my go-to Korean and wings place in Astoria.
really like the food, ambience AND service here. it's rare to find a spot that does well at all three. ordered bibimbap, wings and teokbokki and all were delicious. Staff were so attentive, kind and professional! PLUS they have these beautiful little lights everywhere that makes it so cozy and pretty on the inside. If you're date likes korean food - this is the spot ;)
I have been going with my family to eat for over 3 years and the quality of food has been always amazing and now the menu has even more choices, including the drinks. The Atmosphere is always great and love the decorations and set up of the restaurant, specially on the warm weather where I can sit outside. The service is really good, and the bathrooms are always clean. It is on my top 3 favorite restaurants in NYC!! I totally recommend it! Anything on the menu will not disappoint! I'm thankful of how the owner is always on top of given the best service to the customers and that's a huge "plus"
Bulgogi Steak Sandwich, Crispy Kimchi Fries and take the express train to heaven! I love a good Philly Cheesesteak sandwich and have to say, the Korean take on the Philly is unparalleled. I was literally blown away by all the flavor and juiciness of the Bulgogi Philly and the perfectly toasted bread. Served with optional Kimchi Fries which were so crispy and I've never even heard of this combo. Definitely will be returning soon!
Love the restaurant!! I loved their seafood pancake it was very juicy and savory, usually not a big pancake person but loved this time. Would definitely come again!! The prices are also very reasonable!!! Great service and atmosphere!!
Our first time there tonight and the ambiance was so beautiful, the music was cool and relaxing and everything about the experience was amazing. We had the chicken dumplings, hot stone bibimbap, marinated short rib dinner box and it was all delicious. The service was great from Tina and the rest of the staff. Can’t wait to go back and try out more dishes!
Very good affordable Korean food. Went there twice and they had added even more food on the next time. The waitresses are extremely kind and the food was delicious and well displayed. The interior has a cozy vibe to it which I really liked and although small in size, it’s really a great place to dine out.
Very cool Korean spot. Ordered most popular dishes on the menu: BBQ beef Bulgogi steak and shrimp bibimbap. Everything was delicious and flavorful. And the portions were huuuge, you will definitely have some leftovers. Service was very good. My openly disappointment was that they didn't have actual desserts besides mochi ice cream. Will definitely come back!
I live in the area and I've had Mokja many times before but this was my first dine in experience. I went in early evening and the restaurant was not full. I'd say that they had a moderate crowd. We were sat immediately and from then on it was business as usual. Ordered delicious food. Eat said food. Feel full. Our server was excellent; not too absent but not too overbearing. I will definitely be back to dine in. The food, in my honest opinion, was better dining in. I dunno. Maybe its a temperature thing.
This is my new favorite place!! I dined outdoors due to social distancing guidelines, and I was put at ease by the precautions/sanitary practices they took. The outdoor area was sooo cute and vibey. The food was awesome. I ordered an ahi tuna burger and kimchi fries which were both so good, with generous servings. The kimchi fries came with gochuchang aoili that I loved. We also got the fried chicken and seafood pajun for the table, both of which were great hits with everyone. The cocktails were delicious. The prices were so reasonable, the servings were generous, the service was awesome and the food was delicious. I will DEFINITELY be coming back.
Very cute atmosphere. Great spot for small groups and a date. Great selections of Makgeolli, which is rice wine served in a kettle on top of ice with lights inside. I tried the banana flavor it was the perfect dessert wine after feasting on the kimchi fried rice and griled pork belly.
Cute little restaurant with lights and good vibes. A wide variety of Korean/Asian food for selection. Service was superb. We were offered hand sanitizer and wet tissues to clean our hands. However, I would recommend they fix their physical menu because it is really hard to read it with the lights reflection.
When my husband and I went there, we were impressed with their decor. It’s so instagrammable! But we were most impressed by the food. My favorite is the Hot Stone Bibimbap with gochujang sauce. I have tried it 3 times now. Once in store and twice for delivery. I highly recommend this place! It’s one of my favorite Korean restos.
Great little spot. Has the best Korean food I’ve had in years! The staff is lovely and super attentive! The food comes in large portions and with sides of pickled radish, kimchi and cucumber. The restaurant has great decor, beautiful flowers cover the walls and little details that make this the perfect place for photos!
First time having korean food and it didn't disappoint. The Bulgoggi sandwich was fantastic, and the fries were perfect.black bean noodles were really good along with mandoo. The diakon & tabooku were fantastic. Also, the staff was super nice, and the owner was walking around talking about Korea. It's really a nice place to go to.
The food was amazing! The meat was soooo tender, so flavorful! Vegetables, were crispy and fresh! Great service, nice atmosphere! Im looking forward to come back. The owner, was super sweet and polite! Came to us to ask how was the food.Staff always smiling. I Totally recommend this restaurant! Im sure you will enjoy it as much as I did!
We had a blast with the quality of food. Every time we eat here we’re amazed at how excellent and well served the food is. We had a variety of dishes and every single one of them was so delicious!!! Yellow radish is sooooo good. 👍 The owner is so kind-hearted and the ambiance of the restaurant is so cute✨ We will definitely come here again!! 🙌
Don't know when this spot opened, but it was new to my wife and I. Had the fried mandoo, combo hot stone bimibap, and an ahi tuna burger. Excellent flavor in the bimibap, and the mandoo were delicious. Best I've had since Mandoo Bar in Manhattan closed years ago. Glad it's walkable from my home.
We always have a wonderful experience at Mokja. The staff is consistently welcoming, friendly and helpful. No matter how busy, Mokja has a well organized service system in place that ensures a responsive, enjoyable and comfortable dining experience every time. As for the food, from the BBQ short ribs, BBQ pork belly, hot stone bibimbap, Kim Bab, to the scallion pajeon it is all deliciously satisfying! Pair all that yummy food with a Korean beer and soju and you are all set!
We had a wonderful time at Mokja. The decor and ambiance was nice and set a warm intimate vibe yet also casual. We ordered the scallion pancake, japchae, and kimchi fried rice. The pancake was savory and filling. The japchae and fried rice were well-seasoned and delicious! Service was great and pricing was very reasonable for the amount and quality of food.
Oh. My. God. Some of the best Korean food I've ever had. I cried over how good it was multiple times. We got the tteokkbokki, gochujang pork belly stew, the kalbi short rib, and a soju cocktail. Everything was a 10/10 - flavorful and great portion sizes. The staff was lovely and the vibes inside were cozy and cute. I wish I could eat here every day.
Had a wonderful dinner here tonight with my sister. The server was very accommodating to my sister’s allergies. We had the Teokkboki, Mixed Soy Garlic and Gochujang wings, Veggie Jjajangmyeon, and Bulgogi Tofu Stew. Everything was delicious, flavorful, and banchan was delicious as well. Staff was very kind and will be coming back!
Amazing menu of Korean dishes and friendly, quick service. I highly recommend trying the short rib and bulgogi, as well as the gochujang pork belly stew. The soju mango cocktail was delicious too!
Food was great, staff is courteous, and the restaurant is absolutely beautiful. Definitely recommend.
I went for the first time today and tried their beef bulgogi lunch box. It came with soup, salad, two small bachon, two pieces of dumplings and rice. The food was good but a bit overpriced. They have some interesting items on the menu. Next time I come back I'll probably try the bibimbap burger and soy garlic chicken wings.
Had a nice time eating here. This is one of the few Korean restaurants I have been too that had Kloud available, the Korean beer. I also ordered the veggie dumplings and veggie and mushroom bibimbap which was all delicious and fresh. The restaurant also has nice outdoor seating and have great safety measures in place of covid.
i ordered their mandoo (fried pork dumplings), kimchi fries, and army stew (kimchi flavored broth with ramen and an assortment of vegetables and spam). the mandoo came out fresh and tasted pretty good. i typically prefer a slightly thinner dumpling skin fried more crispy, but the meat/filling was good. i didn’t care too much for the kimchi fries. the kimchi as a stand alone is phenomenal. but together, it was simply regular fries with kimchi sprinkled on top. the army stew was very flavorful and came out piping hot. the taste of the broth was a slightly spicy kimchi flavor with hints of sausage/spam. overall, the dish is perfect as is especially on a cold winter’s day.
Stopped by for birthday lunch while I was in the area. The restaurant wasn’t busy since I came at 2pm; there were two other parties besides me. They had a lunch menu and I ordered the bibim nengmyun and LA galbi combo. The order came with 3 side dishes (kimchi, daikon, and fish cakes). It took some time for the staff to take my order but once it went in, the food came out relatively quickly. Both dishes were tasty along with the side dishes (though the kimchi wasn’t my fave). The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated, and the staffs were friendly. Would recommend if nearby to grab a bite.
Tried for the first time recently and was pleasantly surprised! The bulgogi nachos were delicious and the kimchi was awesome! Wasn’t blown away in any other department but I would happily try again.
It’s fine. The banchan (side dishes) are danmuji that taste strongly of sesame oil, fishcake that’s relatively flavorless, and cabbage dipped into kimchi seasoning (and I usually like my kimchi on the fresh side) The rice is no different than store bought instant rice. The muul neng myun (cold noodle) is nothing special - nothing you couldn’t make from a store package with added slices of beef and radish. If youre really craving korean food - this might suffice.
I LOVE kimchi mac n cheese and I love nachos so I thought the kimchi nachos we're a must try. I was sadly very wrong. My first order came out without any cheese, and when I asked for cheese (the menu promises melted cheddar) I was brought a replacement with a teaspoon or 2 of cheese. Perhaps a cultural misunderstanding of what nachos are? If they'd been nice or tried to actually fix the problem I would have completely understood. As it was handled...I won't be back.
Truly one of the most disappointing restaurants I’ve been to in a while. First things first, the ambiance is pretty good. The place is well decorated, and my dad really liked the little trees. But the positives stop there. Our first red flag was when our waiter said she was going to come back to take our drink order, and never did. We brushed it off at first but the service just went downhill from there. Our waitress was inattentive, we had to ask the other wait staff to clear our table, refill our water, give us extra napkins, etc. And the worst part was when we were halfway done with our entree and she served us something that was supposed to come WITH our entree. She just ignored us the entire night and it really soured the experience. Sadly, the food was also nothing to write home about. The kimchi pajeon basically fell apart and was soggy, and the tteokbokki had a nice texture but just fell flat on flavor. The BBQ Galbi and the Spare Ribs were mediocre in flavor, honestly could have made them better at home. Such a shame, save your money and stay away!
I mentioned clearly that one of the Kalbi box for **SHELLFISH ALLERGY** person. And here they're arrived like this! Ms.Renu at the restaurant confirms to me that "it is OK to eat because the box has separate compartments so the foods are not touching each other." I ask if she or the restaurant has a food protection certificate and she says "YES!!!" I don't want to do any harm to your business, I have eaten there and ordered here so many times but when she argues and ignores the customer's safety before apologizing that disgusts me.
