Avis sur McKinnon's Louisiane Atlanta
Great place with old world charm. Reminds of movies when they go into the dimly lit restaurant and have fancy meals. Excellent food, fantastic service, strong drinks...all for a good price. That's a big win in my book! If you found this review helpful, please thumbs-up. :)
Wonderfully delicious food. Great variety on the menu. Staff was very friendly and professional. Great casual atmosphere.
No conversation about Atlanta cuisine is relevant until one mentions McKinnon’s Louisiane. The food is incredible and service impeccable. Aziz the owner is a true gentleman and beautiful man. Go and enjoy and you’ll go back again and again.
The jambalaya and scallop pasta was great! Aziz, the owner, is amazing. No complaints.
My dinner was so delicious and prepared with such care. Having lived in New Orleans for almost a decade, there's nothing like perfectly seasoned seafood and my palate was delighted. The precautions in place - staff impeccably masked, posted restaurant policies regarding staff temperature and exposure - made me wish I had eaten in rather than picked up (first time I've felt this way since the pandemic, to be sure!) I recommend without any reservation (and the owner was sure to let me know that they're presently on a Tues-Sat schedule). I will be back soon.
Went there for dinner tonight with my husband. We ordered crab and gumbo soups. They both were absolutely delicious. Then we ordered crab appetizer and catfish entree. They were great as well. Attentive service, great food. We are happy customers.
We had a birthday dinner there for my brother and the food was great! The customer service was awesome as well! It reminds you of being in Louisiana based on the ambience. All of our meals were great. We would definitely go back!
Food was good wanted to try something different but ended up going with waiters suggestions. The service however was the best I ever received I can't remember his name but it was the older guy. He took the dessert and an appetizer off the bill just because he noticed we really didn't eat it. I didn't mind paying for them because we had ate some of it, and the dessert was something we were just trying had never had before. But definitely 5 star service from everyone that came to the table
This place was a treat! The food was excellent, very flavorful and plated well. We both enjoyed our meals and the ambiance was perfect. Aziz was great, friendly and personable. I'll definitely be back here, as they let us know they have a piano bar Fridays and Saturdays. Looking forward to enjoying this great food again!
This place is amazing for a romantic quiet dinner/evening. The food is delicious. The place was recommended by one of my patients. I was looking for a romantic quiet dinner in a restaurant without TV and wait time. My husband and I celebrated our 17 year anniversary on Saturday night... walked in without a reservation. We got a table right away. The restaurant setting, piano bar, music and everything was great. Exactly what I was looking for.
Great food (I especially enjoyed the gumbo). Portions on the apps are a good size. Staff was excellent, attentive and friendly, but also relaxed, and not pushy in the slightest. McKinnon's has an old-school feel. White tablecloths, semi-fine dining, but not stuffy. The owner is friendly and knowledgeable. Can't wait to go back!
This restaurant gets lost because it's in a strip shopping center. It deserves a better location. Food is wonderful, great bar, friendly atmosphere and always a good time. There are specials, but the regular menu never disappoints. I always love going with the Snapper or grouper. We've never been there when there has been entertainment at the piano bar, but I understand it adds to the experience. Highly recommended!
Excellent food in a quieter, homier atmosphere. The meal started with complimentary bread which was crusty outside, warm inside. Quite nice. I had the Bouilloubase which was excellent. The broth was aromatic and had a lovely flavor. The seafood was fresh and had taken up the broth flavors nicely. I finished with the cremebrulee which was nice but not spectacular. The owner is personable and he'll chat with guests to ensure that you have a great meal. The decor is a bit older and the lighting is dimmer than I'd prefer, but it does give it an intimate feel.
My introduction to McKinnon's happen a month prior to my visit. The restaurant itself is located off the beaten path where the name caught my eye while driving pass. I was intrigued, therefore I went on line to view the menu. The menu looked great! From the menu I made the decision that for certain I wanted to patronize the restaurant. I would have given the restaurant 5 stars however, there were some minor things that deducted from my experience. First I ordered a shrimp appetizer with peppers, the flavors were married extremely well, the only down side was the appetizer came with only 2 shrimp and tons of peppers which didn't match the ratio of shrimp to peppers. The creamed spinach by far was AMAZING! The best creamed spinach I have ever eaten. Lastly, I am a filet mignon cut of steak type of girl. Sadly the steak had so much FAT on it, I never really had the opportunity to enjoy due to the amount of fat that was left over on my plate. The flavor, however was delicious. I only wish that it was cut properly.
Unique dining with attentive service in an Atlanta classic institution. Serving New Orleans Creole style cuisine for 47 years. This is definitely old-school, steeped in traditional dining of days gone by. Several traditional Creole and Cajun offerings on the menu. I tried the Blackened Amberjack with grilled hot pepper shrimp which was very good. Live entertainment in the piano bar Wednesday, Friday & Saturday! Joie de Vie!
Great family owned Louisiana cuisine restaurant. Fresh seafood flown in same day, well prepared and seasoned meals, and excellent service. Red beans and rice and fried green tomatoes are my favorite sides. The cocktail sauce on the shrimp cocktail is amazing. Grouper and red snapper entrees were cooked perfectly. I recommend everyone eat here at least once. All meals are reasonably priced and I enjoyed the praline cheesecake and Cafe Francais desert coffee!!
After failing to make reservations in time anywhere else, we settled with McKinnon's. Upon walking in the smell immediately catches you. It smells that of an older cluttered attic as opposed to the food smell or clean smell one would enjoy when first entering a food establishment. There was a live piano player or at least that's what it sounded like. You can't really see unless you're in the bar area. The owners are amazingly pleasant and they greet you at the door. They insist you make yourself comfortable. This in part of the lack of crowd so there are a large amount of open tables to choose from. Our server immediately greeted us and got the process moving along. The menu is decent in size but not so much that it was overwhelming. Entrees average $22. I ordered grilled salmon and I must say that was the most bland piece of fish I've ever consumed. My SO ate Bouillabaisse which he says was GREAT. It really stuck with the expectation of a good creole stew. The sides that come with it and that we ordered in addition were ultimately not anything I'd ever recommend. The green beans were undercooked, the creamed spinach was the most repulsive flavor and smell, and the fried green tomatoes were soggy. We didn't want to eat dessert. We quickly cleaned up and paid. Overall the atmosphere was quiet but needs updating. The service is PERFECT. The menu has great options. The cook/kitchen staff needs to step up their game. I won't be returning but felt the need to leave the most honest review possible.
I felt out of place in a very southern, mature, good-old-boy restaurant. The host or manager only greeted my 2 year son at the table. It was my 35th birthday and I was never acknowledged (in word or deed). Furthermore, I watched as the host offered free appetizers, suggestions and compliments to everyone else in the dinning room, who also happened to posses less melanin than my family 👀 The appetizers were average : crab claws and mussels. The entrees were great. The jambalaya was bursting with flavor and full of spice. The assorted Seafood plate was fresh, lightly fried and unselfish in its portions. The wine list is short, but well appointed and very reasonably priced (under $40). Altogether the food was mostly delicious, but the service was lacking and dismissive. I will likely not return.
They can't handle large crowd. Was there for Valentine's day. The food was good though my fish was overcooked and was so dry. Service was horrible. They pour wine in water glass
We have enjoyed this restaurant for over 20 years but last night may have been our last visit. The bartender took us to our table and told us that Aziz, the owner was out of town. We knew something was wrong because it was 8:00 on a Saturday night and we were one of only two parties in the dining room. It's usually packed. Service was still very good but the food was not up to par. My wife's dinner was cold. Her dessert usually comes with a sweet topping on it. It didn't last night. The shrimp in my shrimp cocktail were not cold. This was my wife's birthday dinner so we didn't complain. The meal was definitely not worth $170. Feeling ripped off. Hurry back Aziz!!!
