Free individual salsa, tasty, tomatoes, not hot. Excellent spot with a great Monday night special! Other specials uncertain? On Monday, these go from their normal price of $16.99 to $10.99. they have two different 3 enchilada plates with rice and beans on special: 1. the chicken enchilada with red or green sauce and 2. the queso topped enchilada which you can get with picadillo or chicken. They also had a $3 Dos XX special same night.

Been coming here since I was a student at McCallum and I’ve never been disappointed! Margs are always good, food is always satisfying, and the staff is always so attentive and nice. Also, it’s never too busy, which is always a plus nowadays. Quintessential local neighborhood TexMex. Never leave, Cheko’s!

The Chekos taco salad was so good and a great size for the price. I was able to save some for a later snack. I love that they put spinach rather than just lettuce. And the addition of barbacoa is 👌🏽 The service was also great for pickup.

Had a weeknight dinner at Chekos and we loved the food. There was only one server working several tables but she did an excellent job of getting everything out quickly. The micheladas were perfect and the margs were good too. I will say this place is a little on the pricey side but at least the food and drinks didn’t disappoint.

This is the most welcoming place I've been to in years. It definitely feels like you are part of the family there. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted, told where the menu was, where to place the order and to sit anywhere we'd like. It was an older couple working the front. They primarily spoke Spanish, but also spoke some English. There were two other tables and from the interactions between the staff and tables, we thought they were regulars. It turns out they weren't, the couple there is just that welcoming. We've been to many restaurants with friendly, attentive staff, but the atmosphere of this place makes you feel at home...like you are visiting relatives. The food was good, especially the guacamole. The serving was HUGE and it was only $3! I highly recommend it. Oh, the bathrooms are super clean!!

Good,friendly, and inexpensive. I went with 6 other people. The waitress made recommendations so that means she eats there. She made real effort to accommodate my gluten free friend. The service was reasonably fast. In spite of the size of our group everything was hot and arrived at the same time. Bonus you get individual salsas. No double dipping worries.

Fantastic Tex-Mex place in north central Austin. Kinda tucked away but it is an absolute gem. Great prices, great food, friendly service. I had the Al Pastor Torta and it was absolutely delicious. My rice and beans were also fantastic. The salsa served with chips tastes very fresh, has a nice amount of spice and is overall super tasty. I would 100% recommend this place to anybody.

Good experience, nice atmosphere, our waiter was nice, food came out quickly and bathrooms where clean. My lengua tacos were sooooooo GOOD, my husband's torta was good but had to much crema on it.. Def will be going again

Did the ownership change or something? I've been going here for almost a decade. It used to be great. Tonight they served me raw meat in the enchiladas. Another review said it might be canned corned beef hash but it looked raw to me. They have also raised prices an insane amount. I doubt they will be open much longer.
