Ce que disent les clients de Civil Goat
Civil Goat is loved for its unique Austin atmosphere, friendly staff, and quality coffee. The goats are a major draw, and the outdoor seating is a plus. Some find the prices high and the drinks inconsistent.

Great place with great vibes. The goats are awesome for the kids. The new screens for ordering is a bit confusing since it’s not clear which thing comes out from where.
Ive written one other review in my life. Great service; friendly staff. Great latte; well made. Crowded lobby; loud customers I sat outside to escape the carnival of patrons inside.. I enjoyed the friendly goat called butters. I enjoyed the breeze. It was a Great experience until a guy brought his his large sized dog onto the deck where the goat was and it started barking directly at it, about 12 feet away. This frightened the goat and disrupted the experience. The goat began to run around in a panic. It jumped onto one of the tables, knocking it over and hitting his body against the window. The goat landed semi-gracefully. Any person that is not absolutely out of touch with the world would take that as a que to sit with his dog somewhere else, for instance: On one of the two picnic tables outside of the deck. But this person thought it would be a good idea to leave the situation and go order. This was my first time here and it was awesome exceptt for what I mentioned above.
The food and drinks are amazing! They have a great selection of single-origin beans. Just be careful with your açai bowls around Butters... I lost a humiliating battle to him over mine. I walked away bruised and bowl-less. Apparently you can squirt a water bottle at him to make him go away. I learned that after the fact 😅 A bunch of children (and ignorant parents) were taunting him which may have peeved him. Please don't corner him in for a "cute" family photo. :)
Great little café with delicious beverages, and a couple goats!!
Wife and I made a trip out here today per recommendations and were not disappointed. The nitro cold brew I had was delicious and my wife loved her vanilla latte. The staff is friendly and the coffee is great. Plus, a goat! Definitely worth the day trip from Austin for the scenic drive and fantastic coffee.
Civil Goat is one of my favorite coffee shops :) The coffee is great and I love their chai. Small interior space (although very cute) and a large covered patio where you can see the goat! They’re food items also look tasty and I need to come back to try them!
Genuinely the greatest coffee shop I've ever visited. The service, the coffee and food, the atmosphere, great music. It was the perfect day there. Loved it so much.
Love Civil goat, but not a fan of the new ordering system. It takes away from the community vibe that this coffee shop has always had. Now it feels way to transactional. Bring back the viiiibbeeeessssss
Love this place! Food and drinks are great. Service is great. My only pet peave with this is the lack of maintenance around the premises. The tables outside are falling apart and a bunch of other things inside and out seem to be broke or in the process of being broken. - these guys have to be profitable at this stage, maybe invest a little time and money into the space? Dunno. - but that being said did I mention the coffee is the best around. Yep it’s good.
The coffee here is SO good but the food is really amazing too! The salad is served with arugula, soft boiled egg, quinoa and a crunchy shallot dressing mixture on the avocado it is really fresh and is delicious! Their non-dairy milks taste good and foam beautifully too! Love this place!
We are housesitting in the area for 2 months. Discovering the Civil Goat has been such an upper. Great coffee, sweets, and real food. Butter (the goat) is so lovable, even when he is trying to eat your pastry or plastic spoon. Love this place. Will definitely revisit when we are nearby again. The staff is so friendly.
Civil Goat should be considered among the top coffee roasters in the Austin area (right up there with Red Horn). The owners have done a remarkable job of curating some really amazing coffee beans from around the world, and it's worth noting that they feature some very unique flavor profiles. The coffee speaks for itself, but they have also done a great job in cultivating an inviting and relaxed atmosphere. This place is worth a visit!
Every time I visit Austin Texas I can’t wait to visit the quaint coffee shop, Civil Goat Coffee! The service is quick and so friendly! I especially love the goat who roams their grounds! The atmosphere is relaxing and almost feels like I am at home!
A cyclist-friendly spot with a spacious patio that makes for a great cafe stop after descending River Hills Rd and riding up Cuernavaca. Recent renovations include order kiosks & QR codes at tables, as well as a revamped interior
Amazing bagels!!!! Really random spot to find a coffee shop, but feel lucky I found it! Will return in the future! Beware of the very small parking lot with the huge pothole on the left side and be prepared to do a 10 or so point turn if you want to turn around without pulling out into the road!! I believe there is another area to the right side of the building that might have additional parking, but I'm not sure if the lot is shared. Anyone know?
First time here! Was surprisingly packed on a Saturday morning - which is usually a good sign. Had the pumpkin latte equivalent and found the drink to be pretty good. Presentation and taste were great. Very relaxing atmosphere.
Smooth and rich, great for any coffee lovers palate! Butters the goat wasn’t there when we arrived, but staff stated he is usually there from noon - 2pm on any given day. It was hot out so we got two ice caramel lattes and they are better than any corporate coffee item you could ever get.
This place is an ultimate hidden gem coffee shop. The baristas and staff are amazing, they’re all super educated and friendly with their own flare which makes them stand out individually and collectively and feeds a great welcoming aura to the OG Civil Goat (Cuernavaca.) The music is always top notch and ever changing; it’s as though the barista Kendrick knows exactly what to play with the customers that are on site visiting that day. The space, drinks, latte art and food are immaculate. I love trying different coffee shops and always gravitate toward this one at the end of the day. The canvas art right now is one of my favorite so far and you can never go wrong with their cute goats in the back barn that are super welcoming and live their best life. It’s roomy, cozy, eclectic, artsy, authentic and welcoming. My favorite coffee shop in the hill country and atx overall. Ps. Try their lavender cappuccino and cholula croissant. (Honorable mention to their açaí bowls and matcha lattes hot or iced) You will literally back for more!
Had a nice lavender honey latte here and the standard cup was the perfect suze. Was hoping to see the mascot but still left with a great latte. Latte was similar quality to some better coffee shops I’ve had in the PNW. Would come here again
The goats are SO adorable and make this an iconic place. The food is actually wonderful and of course so is the coffee. I was really blown away by how much I loved this place and enjoyed a super peaceful lunch on the patio!
We found this spot on Google and were pleasantly rewarded with fresh food, good coffee, attentive and friendly service, and absolute value. The menu selections were diverse and clearly made with quality ingredients. We visited twice. I had the avocado toast ($10.50) on the first visit and it was well-seasoned and creamy, the bread was toasty, and the tomatoes were flavorful. Just delightful. The second morning I ordered the Thunderbird Acai bowl ($10). It was phenomenal. I love cocoa nibs and it's seldom that I find them in the wild. The bowl was practically overflowing with ingredients. I could live off the peanut butter. Unbelievably good. The coffee far outshined the watery excuse we were served at the hotel. Robust flavor with great aroma and body. I went for drip both times so I can't comment on the espresso drinks or teas. When we arrived the first morning, an employee gladly held the door for us and welcomed us. He held it for us again when we brought our dishes in. Both mornings everyone initiated pleasant conversation and seemed glad to be there. The thing that stood out to me the most was the value. This food and coffee somewhere else - worse food and coffee, frankly - costs far more and it's prepared and served with less consideration. We will return next time we're in town.
Love the coffee and the food is good, great atmosphere with the goats! They do get backed up quickly, so order right away! Our cinnamon toast order fell through the cracks and took almost an hour to get, but it was a beautiful day and we enjoyed being outside. The staff works hard!
Updated 2025. Still awesome. They have slowly added space, the food, coffee and atmosphere has remained as good as ~2018 when we first started coming. Highly recommend! 2019 review: Great coffee, great food. Unique spot we came across while looking for coffee west of mopac. We've been coming here nearly a year and its consistently good.
My local coffee spot! Great coffee and food, friendly and personable staff (including the goat), nice new covered deck area and extended open air space. They also sell their own beans for when I don't have time to stop in and get my fix.
very very good waffles and drinks. small place so enjoy parking and sitting... good thing they're building an expansion . not sure what they put in the waffle batter but it's amazing and unique. real syrup and whipped cream too the goat was cute, but they need to get him a companion edit: he has a friend now
Love the patio and the coffee and food! Playing with the goats Norm and Butters is the highpoint of any trip 🐐 . Highly recommend!
This place is my home away from home. Excellent coffee, fantastic atmosphere and incredible community, with two freakin’ goats —- what more could yah want?
I happened upon this little place and what a great gym to find. The service was outstanding. Everyone was friendly and genuinely happy to help. I ordered the ham and cheese toast which was delightful. I loved the hint of peach jam giving it that sweet and savory deliciousness. Great place to sit and drink some coffee and get some stuff done or does it with some friends. I highly recommend
Civil Goat Coffee is my favorite coffee shop in the entire U.S. The wonderful team is down to earth, takes time to connect, makes the most delicious and pretty drinks, the avocado toast is literally THE BEST anywhere in the world. It’s a place to call home for a moment or a few hours, whether it’s solo or inviting friends and family to join you over a delicious cup of coffee and tasty eats. When a place is build with passion, hard work, love and with community in mind… that’s a foundational spot and energy you feel each visit, thank you for all y’all do!
Simply the best! The staff are kind and knowledgeable, the atmosphere is great for working on weekdays or lounging on weekends, and the coffee will blow your mind. Every other coffee shop is now ruined for me, but luckily this treasure isn’t going anywhere (as evidenced by their expansion to two additional locations without losing a drop of authenticity!). Can’t believe the luck of the Cuerny neighborhood having this in their backyard. Spend an hour here watching the comings and goings and you’ll get it—a true local’s paradise.
Good coffee/coffee selection. I had the scrambled eggs and hash browns, which were very good. Lots of space to study and/or hangout. The service was especially excellent. It was clear that the baristas have a great relationship with the customers. Would definitely recommend!
Wow- their green iced tea is the best I've ever had!! Don't forget to check out the cute GOATS on property! 🐐🧋🌞
My ultimate Austin oasis. Tucked away into the hills, far enough away from the downtown cluster of seriously average brekkie spots, lies Civil Goat - or the GOAT, as my wife and I call it. Why am I qualified to call this place the one above all others in the competitive cafe world? - I've had breakfast at easily 200 cafes in 20+ countries around the world. Not bragging, I just freakin love a creative morning meal and I seek them out wherever I travel (Melbourne, Australia does it best). Austin AM offerings are generally light on the creative side. Sure the tacos rock, but other than that, mostly serving up your standard options. Add healthy to my list of wants and we really struggle to hit both notes around this town. Why is CGC the GOAT (in Austin, at least)? - The coffee is quality, poured so consistently satisfying, I find myself savoring it - A varied menu with some creative and healthy options never fails to hit the spot, and without leaving me dragging later on - The vibe is lax, clean bohemian country, feels like what I envisioned Austin would be before I moved here. Add to that the kind of easy going, friendly service that lets you quickly get comfortable at a place. - Butters... they have a freakin pygmy goat that comes and hangs outside around mid-day. He acts like a dog trapped in a goat's body, such a little legend. Bottom line - I'm not writing this to encourage you to go. You should. You're flat out missing a great experience if you don't. This is to say to all the friendly folks that make this place so special and keep it running (and keep Butters in check), THANK YOU! Bonus: I once saw a local pull up in a golf cart with his little daughter and stroll in for a late morning bite and to hangout with Butters. It's the kind of place you get cozy and hang.
Excellent food and they are knowledgeable about the ways of 3rd wave coffee. They have a La Marzoco machine, so coffee snobs be not afraid. There’s also apparently a goat here some days. Very small, but cozy. Would definitely come back every time I visit Austin. Impeccable music choice as well
Great vibe, great coffee, and goats! Had such a pleasant experience at Civil Goat Coffee in Austin. It’s a cute spot with cozy indoor seating and plenty of shaded outdoor seating, which makes it perfect for a relaxed coffee break. The vibe is calm and welcoming, and the few goats in the backyard are such a fun and unique touch! We ordered a cortado, tamarind coffee and a mocha, along with banana bread and a vegan toast, and everything tasted really good. Fresh, flavorful, and just the kind of comfort snack you want with coffee. They do serve fun seasonal coffee flavors. Overall, great atmosphere, tasty food, and a really pleasant place to hang out. Will definitely visit again! 🐐☕️✨
Wonderful coffee spot. Our cappuccinos were excellent and the atmosphere is lovely. The prices were a huge selling point. Hard to find an affordable coffee spot that serves such good drinks these days. Definitely one to save to come back to often!!!
This isn’t just a coffee shop; it’s an experience. It was so fun seeing the goats roaming around, even standing on tables! The actual interior is small but there is ample seating outside. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the espresso. Baristas were engaging, friendly, and down to earth. Really pleasant experience coming to this shop!
Unique coffee house complimented by spacious shaded patio and namesake goat in a yard out back. Inside it has a bar and several tables. Great for a cold brew on a hot day in the hill country. Ordering happens through a qr code in each table. They have free parking in front of the building and behind the patio.
This coffee shop stands out with its spacious outdoor setting, away from busy shopping plazas and commercial areas, giving it a peaceful and inviting atmosphere. The indoor space is small, but the large open-air seating area makes it a perfect spot to relax. The coffee is excellent, and the menu includes light salads, snacks, and great breakfast and brunch options. The setup feels different from typical coffee shops, offering a more laid-back and refreshing experience. While I’m generally against zoos and keeping animals in captivity, this place has a small enclosed area where goats roam freely, adding to the overall charm without feeling forced. With its relaxed ambiance, great food, and open space, this coffee shop offers something unique. A great spot for a quiet break and a quality cup of coffee.
For once, I wasn’t turned off by ordering at a kiosk. I see the appeal in a space like this. It sped things up and allowed me to browse the whole menu at my pace (visually). It was a simple, clean, and a unique shop. Loved the ample seating and my iced Americano was to spec—speaking as a coffee professional myself. Well done, guys. Would definitely be a regular if I lived in Texas. Looks like it’d be Heaven on Earth in cooler months.
The original of 3 locations, they roast the coffee on site. The drive into lake way is beautiful. Very friendly staff, attention to detail and lovely atmosphere. The new deck outside offers a lot of seating and shade. Great spot to relax or get some work done. Butters the goat is out around noon everyday he was in a pen. They canned cold brew for me fresh on the spot. There’s about 15 parking spots but seems like enough for the area. If you live in the area this will be your new favorite local coffee shop.
Cute little coffee shop with great atmosphere and friendly staff. They literally have a goat 🐐 as part of the staff, hence the name of the place. I had almond coffee ☕️ and it was great! Next time I sure will try their pastries and desserts, as I had to drool by looking at others 😅 Great place to come alone, casual meetings or with family.
LETS GOAT 🐐 This adorable coffee shop serves strong coffee and food and good vibes. We took a walk around back and saw two sweet goats living their best life.
Great little find! Food was amazing. Beverage was delicious. Perfect Austin atmosphere of the unknown yet pleasantly surprised. Great outdoor tables to just take a breath and soak up some winter sun! Tumblers specially made for them by Maya Blu Home. I ordered some! And YES they had a sweet goat to play with!
Great specialty coffee and delicious made-to-order food. While Butters and his new goat friend bring in folks from all over, this shop is renowned for its strong bond with its local regulars. If you come in frequently, you're bound to make friends with one of the welcoming baristas.
We came for the goats but stayed for the yummy coffee and food! The goats were unfortunately not out so we’ll have to come back but my açaí bowl was so delicious
We enjoyed delicious beverages while visiting with each other. I mistakenly ordered a hot latte and the staff offered to make it iced for me. They were very accommodating.

Super cute atmosphere, great quality food! Their acai bowl is one of the best. I go back as often as I can. Nice outdoor area to let my kids run around!

I loved the açaí bowl. Was very good and fresh . And very fast the service
I have been here several times now on Sunday for brunch. Such a unique setting with interior and outdoor seating, and Goats playing in the yard. I think they should get some miniature goats that have fun playful energy! The avocado toast is simply the best I have ever had! Always fresh , with real bacon pieces on top, cherry tomatoes and a sprinkle of sprouts. The coffee drinks are excellent with some chai lattes too ! Well Done

Quaint coffee shop with a real live goat as it’s mascot. Temperature inside was warm and seating is limited. I loved my cold brew coffee but cup size was very small. Overall a good spot!
Fantastic coffee. Well designed intimate space. Food is hit or miss. Goats are cute and the music is lovely! The croissant sandwich was delicious. Soft scramble for the eggs was overall under seasoned. And the waffles? Dry. No butter included. No comment on the açaí bowls as we didn’t have them. Either way you’re spending ~$40 with tip for coffee/lunch for two. That’s a bit steep. Go for the coffee but skip the food!
Visited Civil Goat with a friend, and overall it was a nice, cozy experience. It’s a great coffee and breakfast spot with a warm, welcoming vibe and a good location. We tried the vanilla iced latte, mocha, avocado toast, eggs, bacon, and toast. The mocha was good, while the vanilla iced latte was okay, around 3.5/5 for me. The food was also decent overall — the avocado toast and eggs were fine, though the bacon was a bit too salty for my taste. I’d rate the food items around 3.5/5 as well. That said, the ambience is lovely, and it’s a comfortable place to sit, relax, and catch up with friends. With a little refinement in flavors, this place could be even better. A nice neighborhood café worth checking out if you’re in the area. ☕🥑
My coffee was pretty good, though it was a cold brew with far too much ice and quite expensive. They also add an automatic gratuity which took this single coffee to well over $6! I enjoyed it but expected more for the price. I came for the goats and was quite underwhelmed since they were not very close and more of a vanity than I expected. I probably won't end up going back, it's a bit out of the way for what it is
Wanna enjoy the day with nice coffee and a supporting animal then Civil Goat Coffee is the place to go. I love this place for the nice cappuccino and for the "Butter The Goat". I have attached the pictures of awesome Butter. It's the friendly goat i have seen and is good with kids as well. I would love to spend time with a coffee and taming butter. Enjoy your day with a nice coffee and a friendly animal. #HappyCafeTime

This place was better before so many self-important nomadic business people and people with children discovered it. I need more shade, less loud people not even attempting to keep their conversations private, and something *MUST* be done about the flies. ...but the coffee and the service is great.
Used to love this little gem place before they expanded/pandemic. Since the second expansion (Bar), we have not enjoyed the customer service experience. Ordering process: 2 stars There are no instructions upon entry on how to order. None of the staff at the bar or staff walking around were welcoming and wanted to help. Finally found someone to ask “how does this work”. The lady staff barely wanted to help and answer me. Finally the barista told us we can order with the barista, order on table QR code, or kiosk (which were located outside). Food: At least food was still good!!!! Drinks: They left the drinks on the bar counter OUTSIDE! Not inside like before. All the coffee and tea got cold before we can even take it. Very sad about how this amazing coffee shop has turned out. Unfriendly staff and cold drinks makes it not worth it anymore :( Hope they read this and make some improvements.
Food and coffee are good. Service has degraded, used to be very good. Ordering system via digital kiosk is cumbersome. If you want to know the ingredients of things you have to click into every item making ordering tedious. Most recent orders come out with an issue (wrong items) or take a very long time (45 min wait for a sandwich). You also must pay a hefty mandatory “service charge” at the time of order before any service has been provided. When the service is not great, this is kind of a slap in the face. Just charge more for the items.
I have been a fan of civil goat for years and still think their coffee and food is great. They recently switched to a model where you order from a kiosk and no longer interact with a barista to order. They also now have a mandatory service charge/gratuity while providing less service. Tip should be optional and if it is not optional it should be reflected in the prices. Look at the reviews for Rockman Coffee and Bakery on the Eastside. People are tired of this business model. Just pay your people better and raise prices need be, but don’t do this deceptive pricing model. It’s a shame as I do love Civil Goat and do tip, but reducing service while simultaneously adding a forced tip is counterintuitive and will now keep me from driving to this otherwise awesome spot.
Food and place both was good. They have a real goat to play with. The only reason that I gave them 3 stars is, they completely forgot our order. We waited for 30mins and when we asked them, they just said your ticket was lost. It is a small cafe, but it is busy. So I think they need to hire more people and be more organized.
I went to this location (Cuerny) for some whole beans. When asked what I was looking for, I asked what they used to make espresso and was told it was the Guatemalan, so I bought 10oz for $15, and noted the beans are bagged in such a way that you cannot see what you’re getting. As soon as I opened them at home, I knew they were suspiciously light - just a shade off from a blonde roast, and that this was not going to make great espresso. Upon grinding, the smell alone confirmed my suspicions that the coffee was going to pull without much Crema and a high level of acidity . And it is so. This coffee is for pour over or possibly French press but definitely not espresso. It’s not bad coffee it’s just that I was sold something that I know is not what they’re using for espresso. I seemed to be interrupting the barista from her conversations (hence 2 stars)when I started asking questions, but I should’ve pursued it further.
Disclaimer: This review is MY personal experience and opinion. Location: It's quite different than what I was expecting. The inside is quite small with a few tables. And a bar setting where the Baristas are making the drinks. I didn't notice a seating space at the bar area. Outside is a large covered patio with picnic tables and a few single chairs. There are goats here, closer to what seemed to be extra parking. There are only three parking spaces directly in front of the shop. One of the three is an accessible parking space. Compact parking in front of the shop so keep that in mind. Larger vehicles should probably park in the rear. *I felt out of place, as the time I came it didn't seem very diverse. Customer service: Very bland in my opinion. No one made any effort to make my experience exciting. The best part of Customer service I received was the end of my visit after I walked up to the pick up window to ask about the status of my order after seeing many people order after me and grab their orders and go. I ordered a 12 oz drip coffee (black). When I asked about my order the young lady who acknowledged me was kind and informed me that they "needed to make a new batch" and apologized for my order "taking so long". I was given a larger cup due to the long wait which was a kind gesture. I did appreciate the gesture but still found the lack of communication rather awkward since I was literally sitting directly in front of the pick up window. Just made me wonder how much longer I would have had to wait if I wouldn't have approached the window. I waited about 12 minutes before I approached the window. Food: I opted out of getting food just because I was a bit skeptical when I walked in the place. I was hoping the service would have changed my mind and if I wouldn't have driven such a distance to try this place out I probably would have turned right around to leave before even ordering. Other people seemed to enjoy their experience and I wanted to make sure that I mentioned that because I don't want anyone to read my review and think I'm completely bashing the place. This review is solely based on my very first time trying it out. Also to note I visited on a Sunday morning and there is a church at the light with sheriff directing traffic. I got out of there right before church let out but I can imagine the area may get a bit busy after church service getting to and from the coffee shop. Unfortunately, I will not be a returning customer but definitely bring your kiddos out to see the goats! I saw quite a few littles and even adults who were excited about seeing the goats.

The guy barista and the two lovely goats were really quite friendly but the lady in the green dress and combat boots was totally condescending. Definitely thinks she’s too cool for school. Bad customer service from her. Great coffee, but my sweet mother deserves better service than that.
Coffee and food was fine. Service was poor. A simple order of eggs and an açaí bowl took nearly an hour and the girl taking care of orders was rude and did not seem to care. At their price point I expected better service.
Came here in hopes to have a unique Austin experience and have coffee with goats. Turns out the goats are in their own area. According to the staff guests had been feeding the goats too much and they were ramming small children. So when I brought my small child here not knowing this I was disappointed but understood. If I had known I probably would have saved myself the drive. That being said the coffee was good.
I have been coming to Civil Goat for years. What was once a peaceful atmosphere, has been shifting throughout the last years. The interior layout is constantly changing. There are no more outlets for people to use. It is obvious that they are not welcoming people with laptops to come in and work anymore. There is also a 16% "wellness charge," on every transaction. There is no transparency on what this exactly entails. Civil Goat also got rid of any cashier interaction and all orders have to be placed online. You also buss your own table, so I'm wondering if the "wellness charge," is for the employees. The establishment should take responsibility of paying their employees adequately, not the consumers, especially when the service interaction has been taken away. Over $19 for a cappuccino and an avocado toast is absurd. Also, on 4/30, the blonde male employee and the brunette woman were heavily cussing casually in front of so many consumers. It was extremely unprofessional. Unfortunately, Civil Goat is not what it once was.
The food was really good, but our drinks were watered down and lame. The cold brew was advertised as on nitro, but it definitely was the most watery cold brew I ever had. On the plus side they do have half and half!!!

Absolutely adore this place. Been a few times with the baby to play with the goat, and hubby loves their coffee. Have recommended this place to friends and family from out of town. Its too bad the barista is cheap and rude. Will not be going back which is a bummer.
Not so Civil Goat. Just went with my kids because they were excited to see the goat. Goat proceeded to ram my 3 year old daughter within seconds of being outside and continued to be aggressive as I shoved it away. It’s a wild animal- of course anything can happen but when I went to let the staff know, as I assume any business would want to have that information, the staff member blurted something about a sign and walked straight passed me. Extremely rude and as a protective father it took everything I had to not escalate the conflict. The rules he mentions are on the backside of the door leading to the outside, written in small font. Very easy to miss when exiting the shop into the area where the goat hangs out.
While I would love to give this place a good review, the fact is they are extremely slow and unapologetic about it. I ordered one tiny little piece of cinnamon toast on gluten-free bread and it took them 30 minutes to bring me a non-gluten fee free piece of toast. Whenever I told him it was not gluten-free they told me they need to charge me an extra dollar since they didn’t charge me for it even though I ordered the gluten-free version. I took them another half hour to bring out my gluten-free cinnamon toast. When they did it was on the heel of the bread. So basically I paid five dollars for the heal of the gluten-free bread Loaf and I waited almost an hour for this. I want to get this place a good review because it’s in my neighborhood and it’s convenient. But to be honest, I would rather drive to bee cave or Lola savanna To get better coffee and better service.
I was waiting for the day Civil Goat would become too busy to maintain their customer service...... today is that day! I went from being greeted by my first name when walking in to getting a cold Americano put out at the window (I'm sitting inside) and when I asked for a mug (I ordered it that way) .... I got. "Fine here, take this one... we just don't have people to wash them".... So I'm drinking my cold Americano that I poured myself in a mug feeling kinda sad that the place has completely changed
The service is bad, we got in here 10min after they open because I saw all the reviews talking about service. 50min waiting for coffee and waffles. Goats are in the parking lot next to the place, not in the actual coffee shop
I visited the Cuernavaca civil goat location and received the worst customer service of my life. I work as a server and could never imagine myself or any of my past or current coworkers ever treating a paying customer this way, none the less one of the owners. My friend and I both purchased drinks and food to-go, we had a late start to the day and I myself was extremely hungry. I received my to-go order first, after waiting 5 minutes for my friend to get hers so we could leave I decided to try my food because my stomach honestly hurt so badly. As I nibbled on my food 10 more minutes passed by and my friend still had not gotten her food. As I was eating mine and waiting for my friend to receive her order I was rudely approached by who I have been told is the owner LiAnne, she got very close to my face and told me that if I ordered to go I could not eat in the restaurant and that I couldn’t throw my to go box away in the store, and asked me to leave because I ordered to-go. I can understand where that kind of policy could come from but as someone who paid $16 for a soggy piece of toast and a chai I felt like that was extremely unprofessional and it was honestly the most uncomfortable and least welcoming experience I have ever had in a restaurant. I was only waiting there because my friends food took forever. Overall I feel that is no way to treat your customers, the food takes forever, Lianne is extremely unwelcoming and unpleasant, food isn’t even very good and it’s all frozen I saw them carrying all of it to the kitchen in an icy store bought container, definitely not matching with their ridiculous prices. Anyway worst Customer service I’ve ever had in my life I was honestly left speechless. LiAnne honestly is the worst.
There are too many flies flying in the coffee shop. I had lunch today there, and the flies constantly tried to land on my clothes, hands, plates, cups, etc. I could see there were lots of flies behind the counter where drinks were prepared. It was not hard to guess there were probably lots of flies in the back kitchen as well. There was a ceiling fan that could have helped, but it was turned off. I had an unpleasant experience.
Placed order online, got a text that the order was ready. Went inside to pick up the order, and the server was extremely rude and said “they don’t know why you got a text, they have no control over it and they have people in front of us they have to get to.” Coffee was good, but don’t recommend based on service.
Unreal that it took 40 minutes to get a latte made. It wasn’t even that busy. Tried to check in on my order and was literally seen and ignored by the baristas for FIVE minutes who were just putting glasses away. Meanwhile I saw them help other people (who happened to be white) so that makes me feel really welcome I guess. And some people got their coffee orders hand delivered to their table which makes no sense and is super inconsistent. Atmosphere while cute is low because of the other customers. I suppose no one cares about personal space because the entire time I sat a table two people decided to stand right in front of the table with no regard for space and as soon as I got up to get a napkin tried to seize my table. Beware that their awful service also merits an 18% service charge apparently.
We were visiting Austin and on the way home. My family was really excited about seeing the goat. The place was busy but as soon we we entered the barista told us they were busy and told us we could order outside ( it was sub 30 this morning). However, she said nothing to white patrons coming in before or behind us. We were the only ones rerouted outside to the kiosk. There were multiple ways to order. We were also the only POC’s in the establishment. We left with the distinct impression we weren’t welcome and it doesn’t sit well.
You bus (clean up) your own table BUT they automatically include a 16% wellness charge on your receipt and then have the audacity to ask for an additional tip. Entitled business owners. They should just close shop and start some other business where they include employee wages in their budget.
Whilst the coffee is/was actually good, the service and staff attitude sucks. I ordered a gluten free item; after my friends stuff arrived and was eaten (waiting 25 minutes) I asked for an ETA. Some time later a kitchen person appeared; apparently the bread was defrosting, and he had no ETA. I asked them to change to normal bread - I don't get to eat, but my kid would - and plz bring it asap. 10 minutes later, I ask for an ETA - the guy refunded me, but no ETA, no checking with the kitchen. Another 10 minutes.....and I ask for an ETA...the guy says "from a business point of view, I've done what I can". He eventually went and checked, and my food was there ready to go. To be clear - "from a business point of view, I've done what I can" - lol smh: I never asked or wanted a refund - I just wanted what I payed for, and an ETA. These folks need training. Ambiance; it's nicely shaded, but not that clean outside. There are goats, which is cool.
