We went here on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. Plenty of available parking and were seated right away. We chose inside seats since we were on our motorcycle, but we had a great view of the lake from our table. The waitress was very friendly and attentive and knew the menu. My husband ordered the beef ribs. They were huge and had a lot of meat on them. I ordered the marbled brisket (moist). Our sides were beans, potato salad and coleslaw. The slaw wasn’t too vinegary tasting which is what I prefer. The potato salad didn’t have a strong mustard taste either-which is how I prefer it too. If you go with kids, you might want to sit outside on their deck so they can see the fish and swan swimming in the lake. The price was good for all the food we received. A great place to eat for a beautiful afternoon!
We love this location! You can sit outside or inside and still have great views of the lake. The BBQ is outstanding. The side dishes are ok but nothing to write home about. They have homemade bread that is very delicious. This location has a beautiful area for weddings or other special events.
Definitely worth visiting! Our server AJ was phenomenal tonight. With a great lakeside view, wonderful BBQ and company, this topped off the day visit we had today in Austin!! I can’t wait to visit again and would recommend it to anyone whose looking for some good BBQ.
The location of this restaurant is fantastic! On a non rainy evening do book yourselves a table by the lake! Enjoy the view of the lake and the lovely food! We ordered the pork ribs full stack and the 5 meat combo! Was totally impressed with the flavours of the pork ribs! The brisket was not my favourite, but all in all the flavours of the food are amazing! You are bound to have a great time and good food!
County Line on the Lake is always a solid choice. My family and I went on a Thursday night two weeks ago. My son really wanted to come; he enjoys seeing the turtles and fish in the lake. We started with a whole loaf of bread as an appetizer; it's so delicious with the honey butter. For my entree, I ordered the two-meat combo with pulled pork, spicy sausage, and a 22-oz IPA. I can't remember which I ordered, but I liked it a lot. My girl also got a two-meat combo. They come with potato salad, beans, and coleslaw. Everything was great! Needless to say, we took to-go boxes with us. We left full and satisfied. I highly recommend a visit.
After visiting County Line on the Hill, I decided to check out the Lake location for dinner with a friend—and I’m so glad I did. The lakeside view is beautiful, and feeding the ducks and turtles with 25-cent food onsite made it even more fun. The portions are generous, the food is delicious and affordable. Highly recommend coming here to enjoy a great meal with a great view.
Still a fantastic barbecue experience after visiting for over 30 years just as good as the first time. If you like a wide variety of sides, you won’t like this place, beans, potato salad, and coleslaw along with the bread! The meats are cooked awesome and it’s a fun atmosphere. I have been visiting since the 90s and it’s just as good today as it was back then.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The County Line on the Lake never disappoints. This is classic Texas BBQ done right, with a view that makes it even better. The ribs were perfectly cooked — tender, smoky, and packed with flavor, with just the right amount of char and sauce. The mac and cheese was rich and creamy, pure comfort food, and the coleslaw was fresh and balanced, cutting through the richness perfectly. Every part of the plate hit. Add in the relaxed lakeside atmosphere, friendly service, and consistently solid food, and it’s easy to see why this place is an Austin staple. Whether you’re bringing out-of-town guests or just craving real BBQ, this spot always delivers.
My favorite place: beautiful, peaceful, and filled with delicious food I recently stopped by on my way home and fell in love with the atmosphere all over again. The moment you step inside, the inviting decor wraps you in warmth, creating a cozy environment that feels like a true retreat. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring that every guest feels valued and cared for. I ordered the brisket, and it was nothing short of perfection—tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor. Each bite was a delightful experience, showcasing the skill and passion behind the grill. The sides, particularly the coleslaw and baked beans, complemented the meal beautifully, adding a delightful crunch and a hint of sweetness Whether you’re a BBQ aficionado or simply someone looking for a great meal, I wholeheartedly recommend this hidden gem to anyone seeking an unforgettable dining experience. Five stars without a doubt!
If you want great BBQ, a welcoming environment, and friendly staff this is the place! I can't say enough good things. My husband chooses this place for his birthday dinner every year. He gets the Big Daddy Beef Ribs. These things are HUGE! Their sides are so good. I like how it gives you a glimpse into the past with vintage signs and movie posters. Overall a great place.
I just wanted to say County Line on the Lake holds a special place in my heart. Before moving to Austin, this location made me fall in love with the city's beautiful, laidback scenery. I felt at home immediately. When we moved here, we had our celebratory dinner at County Line. And now whenever we have family or friends visit us, this restaurant is our favorite place to take everyone. The atmosphere is great both inside and outside on the patio. My kids love seeing the turtles & swans on the water. The servers have always been on top of it and provide great service every time. And the food is always consistent and comes out quickly. I've tried the lean brisket, ribs and turkey which have all been fantastic. Don't miss out on the loaded baked potato as your side! I also try to save room for the cobbler pie with ice cream if I can! We have never left hungry and leave with plenty of leftovers.
A really fun place to visit with the family. We enjoyed the food and feeding the turtles. The staff was friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. It looks like a fantastic place to have an event. Happy hour from 4-7 including drinks and appetizers. All around The County Line in the Lake was a very fun visit for all of our group from 1.5 to 72 years old.
This place never disappoints! County line does not have long lines or crazy pricing like other BBQ places, but the taste is not inferior to anyone else. Whenever my friends visit Austin, I always take them here and order the 5 meat combo plate. The beef ribs are fantastic, and I love their brisket the most (go for the fatty parts)! The pork ribs are ok (I have a high expectation for ribs as someone who's lived in St. Louis for quite a while). It's really nice to also take a stroll after a meal along the river banks and watch the turtles.
Ordered the Big Daddy Ribs - 7 ribs (full rack), 3 sides and bread for $39+tax. Had 5 ribs to take home and eat the rest of the week (froze 2 for later). Only comment is that the Lake site does not serve all the sides available at the Hill site, specifically fried Okra and I believe fries. Otherwise same good food and service.
I had the 2 meat combo: the moist brisket with pork ribs (for an extra charge), and a whole bunch of Old Fashioned cocktails. Both the ribs and the brisket were incredible. The bbq sauces were delicious as well. The side-dishes (especially the coleslaw) were absolutely spot on. Then I tried their bread pudding which was extraordinary. Great food, great service - highly recommended.
You have to check this place out. Right on the water. I think you could even visit by boat from Lake Austin. You can get a table out back that is like 10 feet from the water. And the barbecue is excellent. Authentic Texan food in a very authentic Texan setting. This is right at the top of my list. And you can put a quarter in the machine to buy food to feed the turtles. I just freaking love this place.
Great BBQ at a good price from a classic Austin BBQ joint. The setting is on Lake Austin and adds to the experience. This place has a great deck and on nice days you can feed the ducks. If you go ask for a table on the lower level so you can see the lake while you eat. The beer is cold and the homemade bread is great! Service is always top-notch there as well. All meats are good, but the spareribs are great.
This is really good BBQ in a great setting right on a river. The food and cocktails are really tasty and I would go here all the time if it wasn’t 4 states away. The environment is colorful and clean and the wait staff is very friendly and attentive. We did not have to wait long for anything and the outdoor seating is really relaxing with a good view of the river. Dogs are welcome.
Absolutely amazing atmosphere. Sitting by the river and enjoying delicious BBQ with friends. I recommend this place 💯!
Just driving through with no particular place to go we ran across this restaurant that appeared to be a little out of place but also part of the scenery. Glad we did. The food was amazing. The ambience was relaxing and chill and the people were super nice. It was easy to overlook the small mistakes during the service because the waitress was super kind and took very good care of us. Definitely plan on revisiting when I want good barbecue
As a Pakistani American im very thankful to this place for serving beef ribs. My waiter Dylan gave top of the line service, his recommendations were spot on. I will be back again.
Outstanding attention to detail! We rented the Boy Scout room with an amazing outdoor area for an anniversary and birthday event. We couldn't be happier! Vanessa and her staff were absolutely on point with their service. The BBQ can't be beat; ribs, chicken, turkey, and don't forget the mouth watering brisket. 😋 Fantastic food, staff, and atmosphere. See y'all next year!
County line is an Austin area Institution for great quality barbecue and dining. We enjoyed splitting an order of ribs, and the delicious sides as well. I think they have the best sides around...coleslaw, potato salad and beans are all excellent. Ribs were meaty, savory and enough for two. Prompt service and reasonable prices make this a favorite, and the decor and setting on Lake Austin are a plus. .......I am adding to my previous review....My wife and I enjoyed Anniversary dinner here today. We both had the St Louis style ribs luncheon plate. For a sweet treat we indulged in a dessert of peach cobbler ala mode. Definitely yummy and plenty to eat! Total bill for 2 luncheon St Louis rib plates, 2 soft drinks, and a peach cobbler with ice cream was $50.04 before tip. And don't forget to stop in the restrooms because they have a cute recording of "How to talk Texan" playing on a loop.
This week I conducted a business lunch at the County Line on the Lake. This is my favorite location as you have a beautiful Hill Country atmosphere right next to the water of Lake Austin. The food is always consistent, if not on the expensive side (meat prices have gone up everywhere, so I understand). I always get the dozen smoked chicken wings. The wings either come plain or with your choice of sauce. While they do not have buffalo sauce, they do have a spicy BBQ and also a Triple S (sweet, spicy, sriracha). My server recommended I try 6 with one sauce and 6 with another, which I didn't even know was possible! I preferred The 3 S sauce by the way. County Line has a weekday happy hour from 4-7pm, which is an ideal team to visit this lovely Texas tradition.
Had a really great experience. I went on a Tuesday, late lunch and it wasn't crowded at all. Staff was attentive and very nice, appearing as if they were happy to be there. Food was good, a little pricy, but mostly worth it. I shared a five meat plate, so I was able to sample a lot. Pork ribs were great, some of the best I've had from a restaurant in a while. Brisket was good, but my sample was small, so hard to judge fully. Sides were good, nothing amazing, but nothing disappointing. Overall, the food and service was very good. If I was local, I'd likely return many times over.
County line is great. They have a pretty extensive menu for the entire family, including a kids menu and lots of options for different meats. Today, I got the 2 meat combo: spicy sausage (it was spicy and delicious) and second burnt brisket (the fatty side of the brisket, also delicious) with mac and cheese, cole slaw and potato salad. Jackson was a great waiter. He kept coming back to make sure we were set on what we had and if we needed more. Thank you for the top-notch service, Jackson. we will be back!
I really struggle to give anything higher than 4 stars usually. The brisket here (lean) is the best in Austin besides Franklin, IMO. It's perfectly smoked and not overcooked like so many places. Black's lean brisket is a 2/5, in comparison. The potato salad, sides are all great (except the cole slaw). Get the bread app with honey butter. Enjoy!
Absolutely great BBQ. This is on my personal list of best BBQ places to go in and around Austin. Very cool vibe and they have a waterfront seating area. You can also feed some turtles while checking out the water front area. Wait staff is very friendly and the establishment kept clean. Don’t forget to try their deserts which are super yummy.
The first thing that came out of my mouth when I left this restaurant last night was, "quality." Everything starting from the kids drawing paper to the to-go containers are of quality. Beautiful, beautiful setting with lots of greenery and the water. The server was attentive and service was surprisingly fast for a Saturday evening. My toddler was delighted to see the swans swimming in the lake. Food was excellent EXCEPT the beef ribs. They didn't cheap out on the meat on the queso. Smoked chicken was delicious and so was the marbled brisket. Pork ribs were fall of the bone and flavorful. The beef ribs however, were on the dry side and not as tender. But everything else was so on point that I am thinking "it was just a bad day" and more than willing to give the beef ribs another shot the next time. Oh and don't forget to order their bread. We will return! Thank you for a beautiful evening!
Double date last night with friends, and what a blast! After being seated by our server, Brooklyn, we started the hard part of deciding on the menu. Server Brooklyn recommended the deviled eggs as a starter, and she was on point! Deliciously creamy with bits of bacon, they were awesome! We each decided on a 2 meat plate as entrees, asking Brooklyn what she thought. She highly recommended the ribs, peppered turkey, and/or the sausage. I went with the sausage and peppered turkey. The sides were beans, close slaw and potato salad. The sides were totally fine, but the sausage and turkey were top shelf, juicy, tender and perfectly spiced. We all enjoyed the meal with a huge shout-out to the staff, especially our server Brooklyn who took the time to make recommendations, answer our many questions and did so with true enthusiasm that made us want to come back soon for another amazing date night!
Took my boyfriend here when he was visiting from Louisiana and he is hooked!! We have to go every time he is in town!! Poor guy Austin has so many delicious places to eat and he is not a big-bellied man!!! He is going to HURT!!!! ;p Yes, it is expensive, but it is high quality, and you are most likely going to have incredible leftovers that you are going to fight over! hahaha!!
I 100% can't sing the praise of the wonderful establishment enough. The first thing was the staff, I asked if I could sit outside, and it was a strange request saying it was chilly that night, but he said sure. Once I was sat, a very nice and considerate server came to take my order. I ordered all you can eat, BBQ and Holy crap it was a lot. Salad the BBQ plate and then dessert. I was so full by dessert I offered it to my server she was so kind in the way she turned it down and made sure I took it back to the hotel. Now as I said it was chilly that night and I was there about an hour but she made sure I never wanted for anything glass was always full I didn't wait long for any food she helped make the night perfect. Okay, now the food was amazing, so much meat for such a great price. The ribs were perfectly cooked, the brisket melted in my mouth, and the chicken had the most delightful smoked flavor I've ever eaten. If you get the chance, stop in this place will make your day your week, even your month. If you agree to hit that like button, let's put this place on Austin's must go list
Super amazing BBQ as well as a beautiful setting. We're from Michigan and the BBQ satisfied our Texas BBQ cravings. The brisket was tender & flavorful. The cole slaw was the best we've had and the beans were memorable. Really enjoyed the grilled salmon as well. Despite a broken hand our server was a delight, friendly & helpful. Highly recommend this awesome place.
This is our second time coming we loved it so much last time we came we decided to stop by after we got done swimming. I'm glad 😊 we did best barbecue we've had in long time. The food tasted great the portions were great and they even let our dog come in we had to eat on the patio but still he was welcome. Would definitely come again 😁. O yeah our server Jason was awesome he went above and beyond to make our experience great. It was my birthday I didn't even know they did anything for birthdays. He let me know they did and told me to pick a Free dessert for my birthday. I chose the brownie with ice cream to make it even more special he put a candle on it and let it for me so I can make a wish. I swear it made me want to cry because no one has done something that special for my birthday in years. He also brought a ice water bowl and huge bones for our German shepherd maverick. I can't wait till we get to go to Austin again so I can come to this awesome place!!! Again!!!! Thank y'all so much for making my birthday 🥳🎂 even better then it was!!!
I am honestly not the biggest fan of BBQ but I figured when in Austin I had to try some. My boyfriend and I ended up here and it was absolutely delicious! We ordered the vanilla milkshake, pulled pork sandwich, and brisket. Everything was flavorful and juicy. We also loved the scenic views by the river and the fun decor inside.
Whe you walk into a large and busy restaurant for the first time, you don't always know if you'll have a personalized experience. Making our meal extra special was a warm welcome from arrival and delightfully attentive service by Brooklyn. Our server kindly offered recommendations, answered questions about how an item was prepared, and ensured our experience at the restaurant was perfect! And yes, the recommendation to get the bread pudding was such a tasty one to cap off a lovely evening with friends! So delicious! Thanks, Brooklyn!
Amazing BBQ ! I came here with my family for some nice barbecue, we were treated to a beautiful view. Never have we been to a restaurant like this ! Our server was wonderful, we ordered the meat combos and my mother the tacos. The food was delicious and a large quantity of it ! The bread is a must to have, so warm and delicious. Recommend this location for BBQ !
BBQ BY A RIVER! Scenic, relaxing, gorgeous view. Ribs, chicken, and pulled pork well seasoned. Baked potatoes, baked beans, coleslaw, and potato salad all great. Turkey sliders on point. Home-made bread was good and would have been better if warm. Mango Margarita 🍹 Marvelous Pass on the deviled eggs Gabe, our waiter was attentive and friendly. The hostess was very nice
Such a pretty place by the lake, the decor indoors is dark and it’s so bright and green out on the patio, whatever your vibe is on that day you can choose to be seated accordingly. The meat combo was fab but surprisingly I loved their bread with honey butter too! Best place to go on a good weather.
County line is an excellent place to dine! The food was perfect and delicious, every single item! The location gives a very nice cozy vibe with great views of the water. The staff is friendly, and they move fast with your order! I recommend this place to anyone looking for some good BBQ, and for desert, the banana pudding is superb! Just note, the prices may be a little deeper in your pocket, but definitely worth it! I recently visited this place again and it did not disappoint, the food I simply great, the service is amazing!

Wow! If you're a local or visiting Austin and you want delicious BBQ, this is the place. I started with brisket tacos and I could not say enough about these. I would've been content having the brisket tacos as my entree, they were that good. However, I did have the beef ribs and they were also delicious. I highly recommend this place for BBQ, Brisket, Ribs, and all the fixings. Staff is friendly, dress is casual, and prices are fair. Oh, and the view is amazing and relaxing.
It was our first time dining here today and we had an excellent experience! We came for lunch on a Sunday at opening and there was no wait. The vibes are very Texas, with a mix of funky, modern and old western decor. There's a bar up front but the restaurant has a very family-friendly feel. Our waiter was extremely nice and the food came super quick, less than 10 minutes after we ordered! We tried the homemade bread with the honey butter for an appetizer, and it was delicious! I order the brisket tacos and they were so good and filling! Everyone else at our table enjoyed their meals as well. We were seated with a view of the river, which was lovely! My kids enjoyed feeding the turtles and catfish on the boardwalk after lunch. This is definitely a great restaurant to bring someone from out of town who is visiting Texas for the first time!
It was my first BBQ experience since I have arrived to the US and it was awesome! As soon as we arrived we were greeted by the hostess that immediately welcomed us and asked if we wanted a table either inside or outside. I asked for one on the outside and we got it! Me and my girlfriend we loved every single minute we spent there, excellent food, beautiful view and awesome service by Jason that made sure everything was going well with our lunch and even offered us boxes to takeaway because we were so full! The ribs are so good, the beans the coleslaw the potato salad, just perfect! Also tried the two meat combo which was great and the brownie and the bread pudding...DAMN! Amazing job yall, will definitely come back!🤝
Not the best Texas BBQ ever but for sure the most scenic place to dine in town. We came around 1PM on Saturday and there was no wait at all, but it got busier soon after that. I was so impressed to see the trees changed colors and crystal clear river water. Had to take a lots of pictures 😂 The place is spacious with indoor and outdoor seating. The service was excellent even though there was inly one guy seeing the whole outdoor area with a few groups. I like the homemade bread and sausage the most, very unique. The ribs and brisket were ok. I wish they have more sides options but still the sides were great. Another good place to take my friend when they come visit.
We ordered the five meet platter (lean) and the homemade bread. Everything is GREAT. Great service, great vibe, great food and very reasonable price! We will definitely be back next time when we visit Austin. It’s only 5 miles away from Downtown. I just hope they will add green beans to their sides menu.
The restaurant could use a remodel by now but thats kinda the whole vibe right? The County Line never disappoints when it comes to the food they bring out the kitchen! With great portions and delicious flavors. Thank you to the friendly staff and crew!
What great food! I'm from the East coast and can rarely find beef ribs. They had wonderful beef ribs at great prices. So much food! Ordered the famous bread and it was delicious. Also had a few drinks and they were fantastic with great flavors. Was nice to walk around by the water and enjoy the views and great scenery. The service was prompt and attentive. Even though there was a large private party, there was plenty of parking and quick seating. Looking forward to going back.
Wonderful BBQ restaurant with a great outdoor patio overlooking the water. The vibe is very relaxing and casual with great attentive service and most importantly delicious BBQ. It was so nice to sit on the patio overlooking the water and enjoying amazing Texas BBQ. While I love all the County Line BBQ restaurants, this one has a great ambience with outdoor seating overlooking the River. We went there to celebrate a birthday. Highly recommend. Would love to go back next time I’m in Austin.
The county line is an iconic barbecue restaurant in Austin and the barbecue is really good. The problem is that it now pails in comparison to a couple of other places that have opened up, namely Franklin. But the setting at the county line is beautiful, and during the daytime you can overlook the river. The service is excellent, and as ironic, as it sounds, the bread here is really outstanding. The sides are great as well. Amongst all of the barbecue options. I think the brisket is the best.
Pretty good place to grab something to eat! Not too expensive, and decent portion sizes. I got the 3 meat platter and shared it with a friend. It has a great outdoor and indoor vibe! It is right along the river so you get a nice view out back, and overall it feels very home-like. If you end up getting the bread you can order a half or full loaf, and they give you A TON of honey butter. The food itself tasted fairly good, but the sauce on the side was needed to add a bit more flavor to everything. Would recommend for a dinner date or family time!
The bread here gets 5 stars, it's worth the trip alone. The rest of the food is ok, good size portions but not crazy exciting. Staff are nice and professional. The inside and outside seating is great..either you're by a lake or sat in good wooden furniture surrounded by neon, it's great. Sadly, the whole time we were there some guy was cleaning the deck with a loud power tool, did really ruin the vibe. We left quickly.
This place is very beautiful. I has river on the patio. The food is great too. Didn't expect that the chicken breast will be tender and juicy. The brisket is quite dry but tastes good. I am giving 4 starts because the waiter misunderstood us. She asked us if where we want to be seated, patio or inside. Then we answered whichever came available is ok. We waited 1 hr+ and I noticed the new customers are being seated immediately in the inside. So I asked why did she kept us waiting while others are being accomodated already? She told us she thought we wanted to seat outside which by that time is already dark and lots of mosquitoes outside. We ended up eating late.
The food is good but it would not be in the Texas Monthly BarBQ number 1 spot. It may be #20 or so for food but what it lacks in being the best in food, it makes up in its nostalgic, on the water atmosphere. We got the best seat in the house, inside, with picture windows overlooking the lake. Also, be very careful about making reservations. The 4th time is a charm. After the 4th try calling, my husband finally got the reservations we needed confirmed.
Not the best Texas BBQ ever but certainly the most scenic place to dine in town. We sat in the A/C, indoors, on a 105-degree day and could happily overlook Bull Creek outside. Yes, guys were out fishing and a family was swimming. Felt so much like a line had been drawn between the busy city and our fun meal. They have lots of combo platters, family-style dining options etc and portions are large. We ordered one value Senior Special, great if you only want one meat. Our BBQ connoisseur friends said their pork ribs, huge beef ribs and chicken were the best items. Tried the sausage too and it was ok. Delicious Cole slaw and potato salad, not a baked bean fan in any case. Do order the warm, house made bread with honey butter. They had BBQ veggies but I doubt any vegetarian would be happy here. Lastly, the Peach cobbler with Blue Bell vanilla is a nice way to share a big finale.
Visited Austin on business and the conference had a no-host social here. The pork ribs were the highlight of the meats, everything else was good, but not great. All the sides were really good.
We visited County Line BBQ by the Lake during the Memorial weekend for lunch. The place was crowded as expected but fortunately, we made an online reservation the night before, so got seated as soon as we arrived. We got their famous homemade bread (so good) and 1/2 Lb sausage (great taste and not greasy) as appetizers and decided to go for 5 Meat Smokehouse Combo, so that I could try all the meats. The service provided was good and so was the food we ordered. The price is towards a higher range but still an excellent choice for a special occasion.
Great outdoor patio overlooking the river. Loved the Jumbo Potato and all of the sides were really fresh and delicious. The meat was too dry and didn’t really feel fresh. The brisket was as dry as a slice of roast beef deli. Overall, the prices were fair with the generous portions, but I think there are much better barbecue places in Austin if you don’t mind the line to get a hot, finger-licking good brisket!
What a great barbecue restaurant. The wait is pretty short and the servers very friendly. They have a reasonable amount of parking. They have indoor seating, outdoor patio and a separate section for special occasions. The patio overlooks Bull creek and if you have a boat you can pull up and dock. There are swans to feed and always dozens of turtles floating around to feed also. Their food is fresh, tasty and consistent although its one of the more expensivebarbecuerestaurantsin the Austin area. They have a full bar. This place is kid friendly and on the patio it's pet friendly. The outside seating is smaller so if you want to sit outside be prepared for a bit of a longer wait. Overall you can't go wrong choosing County Line as your next BBQ adventure.
The portion comes very generous for each dish. Food’s Taste is good - not extraordinary, to be honest. It’s on a saltier side. But pairing the food + friendly service + the view , it’s outstanding 🤩. It’s perfect spot for families with young children. I would definitely come back again.
We’ve been driving by for a long time and finally decided to stop for dinner. We were seated quickly but in a very back corner of the restaurant. We didn’t get seen by a server for 10 minutes when I had to go get one. The server for our section was clearly swamped and had a hard time managing the number of tables. We got served and place our order. The beer on draft was flat. The brisket was dry. It was pretty disappointing, as the best thing we had was the sausage, the queso, and the bread. We weren’t impressed, and we likely won’t be back.
Our food over all was great. My beef ribs were tough and hard to eat while everyone else’s meal was great. Feeding the turtles and fish off the dock were a highlight for my child and family. Service was ok. Take notes. If your table has an infant/toddler. You should get them the check ASAP so they can leave on their own accord waiting around for 20 minutes with a screaming child is not ideal.
This location needs to be renamed or remodeled. I would rather drive an extra 10 miles to the other County Line BBQ location on the Hill in Bee Cave. The County Line on the Lake has half of the menu items compared to the Bee Cave location. The Lake location has a beautiful view outside where you can look at the Lake and Geese’s. This location doesn’t serve French fries, steak, sandwiches or a lot of items from the Bee Cave location. The staff at this location is rude from the hostesses to the servers. The servers take your orders like as if they are rushing you. I will never eat this location again. It’s unfortunate because I only live three miles away from here but I will only go to the Bee Cave location.
My son and i showed up at 12:30 for lunch to an empty parking lot. I asked for a table on the deck and was told there was a 20 min wait. I said, " the parking lot is empty!" We agreed to be seated by the windows and I saw about 15 empty tables. I asked about it and was told, " thats bar service". Maybe because I didn't pull up in a Mercedes or something like that. I wasn't happy about that. Anyway, I had the 2 meat plate and prices were fair. the sausage sucks though. it's like Echrich junk you get from the grocery store.
The food was good, I have no gripes with the staff they were wonderful. However, the menu prices did not reflect what I was charged at all. The menu I was handed while in the restaurant and what I had seen online seemed like normal fare when it comes to BBQ. However, after I paid for my food and left, I could see an extra $10 on my bill. Really don’t know what it was for or why I wasn’t told that a to-go fatty brisket sandwich would be $10 more than the menus said. Certainly I’m not taking up any seating in the restaurant, as I wasn’t even there 15 minutes. The food left a great taste behind in my mouth, but this extra charge left a bitter taste behind. It just doesn’t sit right with me to have an idea in your head of what something is going to cost, check your bank account and decide you’re okay to stop in for that price, then end up regretting even having stopped. It’s part of my bucket list to hit every top BBQ spot while I’m living in TX, haven’t had this issue with any other place so far. Just disappointed and feeling tricked. If $30 for a single BBQ sandwich isn’t too rich for your taste, I highly recommend stopping by. But peasants be warned, double check the price is accurate before you sit down.
Ribs were tacky and chewy. The brisket didn’t hit the Texas quality expectations. The Mac was average. The potato salad was legit as in it really was the best thing I ate here, 2 thumbs up for the potato salad. The location and atmosphere is what sells this restaurant. The margaritas are stiff and they use those jumbo marg glasses for them. The service was very slow. I’m giving this place the benefit of doubt that I might have showed up too early and on an off day because I heard good things prior to coming here.
We were visiting from out of town and chose this restaurant based on its positive reviews, expecting a great experience. Unfortunately, it was very disappointing. We were told the wait for outdoor seating would be about 30 to 40 minutes, which we agreed to. After waiting well over an hour, we checked multiple times and were repeatedly told we would be seated soon. Despite there being open tables outside, we were never seated. The restaurant was not busy, and during this time we noticed servers inside socializing rather than assisting waiting guests. No one took our order, and there was no sense of urgency or customer care. After more than an hour of waiting with no progress, we had no choice but to leave, hungry and frustrated, feeling that our time had been completely wasted. Good reviews may bring customers in, but service is what keeps them coming back. Sadly, this visit showed a lack of organization, communication, and respect for customers’ time. We truly expected better
Food was so unnecessary salty. When looking around at the aging crowd I understood why. Outdoor patio is nice but had lots of unattended children running around shaking the deck and climbing furniture. The patio itself is dirty, covered in cobwebs, umbrellas covered in mold, and overall very obviously in need of some tlc. Cool place if you’re a tourist and LOVE salt. Even the coleslaw was salty, not sure how that’s possible but hey, they did it.
I used to visit here all the time back 20 years ago. I've heard and read some negative comments about it but I decided to give it a try on Mother's Day. One word to describe the meat flavors - SALTY! So were the potato salad, co slaw and the sauce. The meats were served quickly but cold, dry and hard to cut out. I thought BBQ ribs were supposed to be served warm, soft with juicy meat... not here. The $7+ homemade loaf of bread was soft like a cake, and much sweeter than before. I wonder why it gets a 4.4 rating but I'm definitely going elsewhere for our next BBQ meal.
Very disappointing experience due to poor organization and communication. Don’t come here if you expect reliable and professional service. We had a reservation for a medium-sized group that was made well in advance and confirmed multiple times, including a confirmation requested by the restaurant less than 24 hours before our arrival. Despite this, when we arrived we were informed that the restaurant was completely closed for a large corporate event. Given the size of the event, this closure was clearly planned well ahead of time, and we should have been notified earlier. No real explanation or apology was offered, only vouchers for another restaurant located about 30 minutes away, which was not a practical solution for our group on short notice.
