Avis sur El Borrego de Oro Austin
I left Austin in 2018. Lived there for 20 years. Of all the things I miss, one of the big ones was living only a 2 minute drive away from the breakfast here. Always delicious and super affordable.
THE DELICIOUS FOOD😉 Several PLATILLOS I have eaten only a 🌶GOOD SALSA for the 🌮TACOS 🥺MISSING 😞THAT WILL THE DIFFERENCE IS GUARANTEE 🙏
BEST MENUDO IN AUSTIN! Staff is always so friendly and attentive! We recommend all our family and friends here!
A humble little spot next to I35 with a lot to offer. Parking can be a bit tricky, but I managed to find a spot without too much trouble. The food was excellent—everything was fresh and flavorful. The staff stood out for their friendliness and consistently polite service. The breakfast tacos were generously sized and satisfying. I tried the menudo con patas, and honestly, it's the best I’ve had in the Austin area. Rich, authentic, and perfectly seasoned. If you're a fan of delicious, traditional Mexican food, this place is definitely worth a visit.
We were in the area and decided to give it a try and were not disappointed! First, we loved their salsa on the tomato-y side of salsa but excellent flavor! Phil ordered the green chili pork & while it was on the spicy side, the green sauce turned out to be rich and savory with undertones of oregano. I tried the #3 combo, which was huge and included a solidly good juicy crispy taco, two enchiladas and a tamale--massive with beans and rice. The Rice and beans passed muster but the enchiladas stole the show! And we loved the tamale. It took some time to receive our food, but the staff was kind and the owners seem proud of their little joint. It was worth the wait. We topped the meal off with a shared slice of flan (served wedged like pie or cake) which was also very good and large enough to share. Overall we give this genuine Tex Mex establishment a solid five stars.
There was no wait to sit. The music was nice and we were promptly approached for drinks and given chips and salsa. The salsa was fantastic! I got a cheese Enchilada plate and my boyfriend had Heuvos rancheros and a chicharon with bean taco. The green salsa is so good. Everything was delicious. Clean bathroom and the cutest little chandelier in the main seating area. Our Lyft driver recommended this place to us and I highly recommend it. As a San Antonian, we'll be back the next time we visit Austin.
Austin local and Mexican citizen here, I came in strictly for the barbacoa (gordita) and while it was an 8/10 (Gordita was bland but the table salt and salsa made up for it, I added a generous amount of salsa every bite) the whole experience could’ve been better. Dirty menus and no chips for the pricy lunch plates was disappointing. We ate as fast as we could since it was a bit slow and boring inside. If you’re a family of 10+, the space will accommodate you but most plates were around $14. My Italian American fiancé got 2 chorizo bean cheese tacos on flour and while he enjoyed them, the tortillas wouldn’t pass my quality test. I won’t be coming back to dine in but would consider them to order over the phone and pick up barbacoa tacos or order the pound of barbacoa when in a rush. It was perfectly proportioned with low amounts of fat
Pretty decent food. I stopped in here for lunch with my coworker as everywhere else was crowded on a Friday afternoon. Their lunch special was priced just right and was about the perfect size for a semi hungry construction worker. The Margaritas were meh but be sure to ask for the green hot sauce for your chips. It is a creamy green sauce that far surpasses the house salsa that they serve you.
I recommend using fresh vegetables since everything was overcooked or old soup, the meat had a bad flavor just like the damaged lemon, paying $20 for this broth compared to the quality of the product is nothing like it. Juzgue usted la foto, no estoy exagerando. El arroz sin sabor y hecho masa.
This is an okay place. I had breakfast tacos on corn tortillas. The tortillas were homemade which is awesome! But overall not the best. Good prices, looks clean, and the service was good as well.
Ordered 3 Tacos, Barbacoa and Carne Esada were so Greasy and fat, the Tortillas were from HEB not homemade, very disappointing. Never been so upset about spending $15 at a place. On top of that I think im going to be sick. Never returning.
I came in to order a caldo de res..I told the lady that I wanted more veggies then meat.. very disappointed when I get home and open the container and I have a big bone and mostly fat with some meat and a little potato, a little carrot and a little corn..smh and mind you it's a little container and they charge $20+
