Great Taco! My spouse wanted to try cocinita pibil for some time now. He really loved it. We will be back to try more tacos. They have one vegetarian taco on the menu.
Love this place. I'm personally not a breakfast taco person, but my girlfriend loves them. I love everything else lol. The churros especially were fresh and warm and such a delightful treat. Will absolutely be back.
Downtown Austin staple Did an electrical job and the client recommended this place Was on a Wednesday $6 Chipotle sized burrito (special) and cool hipsters that were friendly and accomdating ( I asked for samples of their aqua frescas before I paid) 11/10 will be back again when in the area! Also chips n big bowl of salsa was on point!
Fun atmosphere and great food! As soon as I got out of the car, I knew it would be a great meal. It smells amazing and the place has a fun and welcoming vibe. We ordered some tacos and drinks and didn't wait long for everything to be ready. Our food was fresh and flavorful. Outdoor seating consists of picnic tables. When we were there seating was not a problem but I could see it getting busy and having to wait or share a table, which i know some people don't like. Five stars from start to finish.
Love this California-Texas style tacos! Relax atmosphere. I am looking for low sodium food and healthy option. They have it all! Great customer service at the window. Fast and real food.
Went back to El Chilito recently and it’s still got that perfect Tex-Mex charm. Their Cochinita Pibil Tacos were juicy and well seasoned, and the Barbacoa Burrito was hearty without being overstuffed. The chips & salsa (especially the spicy green one) were solid starters as always. The vibe is casual and comforting — quick service even on a busy night, friendly staff, and just a good place to jump into flavorful, no-frills Mexican food. Definitely one of those spots I’ll keep coming back to.
Had a great meal at El Chilito — I started with their Chipotle Queso with chorizo (rich, creamy, slightly smoky) and then went for a Cochinita Pibil taco along with a Barbacoa burrito. The tacos had the right amount of savory punch, and the burrito was packed and perfectly wrapped. The vibe is casual and friendly, and service was prompt even during a busy evening. I also appreciated their scratch-made tortillas and how the salsa was lively but not overpowering. Definitely coming back for their Puffy tacos and to try more of their breakfast selections.
We got to El Chilito and Justin greeted us with a very kind smile. As we were ordering our burritos he gave us recommendations on what he like and what sells best. He complimented us and made small talk with us. The burritos were delicious as always, but Justin’s service really stood out. It’s interactions like that which build loyalty—great food and great people. He is a great guy, he made our day, and we will definitely be there again because of him... and he deserves a raise!
I live more north than here is a but far but came by today!! Been wanting to try this place!! The food is very good very fresh!!! I'm not a hudge burrito person but I really enjoyed mine today from here!!! I'll be coming by some more for sure!!!
ADA wheelchair accessible, pet friendly and only out door seating with umbrellas. Great menu with 2 yummy soups. We had 4 tacos, all yummy...I love the green hot sauce but it's spicy. Will come here often.
I've gotten food from here 20+ times and it is always excellent, friendly people, and quick. Tacos are great, try the puffy at least onxe. And don't make the same mistake I did and sleep on the salads! The Chimichurri dressing is amazing
Love this place!! It’s my go to place for chilaquiles.. El Chilito is a laid-back Austin spot that’s all about serving up delicious, fresh tacos with a great vibe. The menu features a variety of tacos, from classic favorites like al pastor to creative options that mix things up a bit. Every taco is made with soft, fresh tortillas and generous fillings that really hit the spot. Their fish taco and breakfast burritos are also fan favorites, offering something for everyone, whether you’re in the mood for a quick bite or a more hearty meal. What sets El Chilito apart is the salsa bar, where you can add as much heat and flavor as you want to your tacos. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a casual meal with friends or just grab something tasty on the go. The relaxed atmosphere makes it feel like a local hangout, and the service is always friendly and welcoming. If you’re craving flavorful tacos and a chill spot to enjoy them, El Chilito is definitely a must-try in Austin’s taco scene.
Really authentic and super fresh tacos! Stayed in an airbnb right down the street while visiting Austin and got the breakfast tacos almost everyday for breakfast! Outdoor seating and water cups available! They also have great cold brewed coffee! Definitely recommend stopping here if your in the area you will not regret it!!
Vaquero was disappointing, beef was not tender. We liked the puffy tacos.. both beef and chicken. the place needs a deep cleaning. cheap pressure washer would go a long way.
Great breakfast burrito! I think it was the Cherrywood. The coffee was good too especially after walking up there in the cold. Just outdoor seating here which is unfortunate in bad weather but the service was great and very friendly. They do have propane heaters on the patio but weren't working last weekend.
Ordered pickup from the website (sorry the pictures aren't the best cuz they are a little squished in the bag) overall super decent tacos! I love Charlie's special and cochinita pibil taco. Really nicely flavored and even better with the salsa. Barbacoa taco is also pretty good, the beef is super tender. The seasoning(salt) is on the lighter side, which makes it a perfect platform to make the salsa shine. The salsa is 🔥. So good. The migas taco is on the bland side, but the salsa saves it. I enjoyed my meal and would definitely come back to try more.
So we ordered the Brentwood and the chicken tinga burrito song with the mimosas, sangria & blood orange beer. It was just ok. The bites were just like blah blah blah so I added the green sauce and it made it a little better. Then I tried it with the red sauce ok. it’s not someplace that I would just go back and be like oh I need to have this. The vegetables were fresh, the onions and the tomatoes were really good, the cilantro and everything on the side gave it a nice little flavor, but as far as the chicken tender but bland. I wasn’t impressed. The Brentwood was very tasty but and all the vegetables worked well together. The sauce & Barria tacos smelled as if they we’re going to be full of flavor but also feel short. The service was A1 & the food was ready really fast. I can’t believe I didn’t like it that much- overall not really that excited about anything but the outdoor seating. I wanted to Ike the do’s so bad I did finish it waiting for that greatness but it just didn’t happen.I won’t be taking a special trip back to that side of town to try it again.
