My boyfriend and I visited for the first time, and we loved it! Absolutely delicious! Every bite was full of flavor and beautifully presented. The food exceeded my expectations, and you can truly tell they care about quality. On top of that, the customer service was outstanding, friendly, attentive, and welcoming from start to finish. I will definitely be coming back and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great dining experience!

Such a cute little spot! With excellent, authentically delicious Oaxaca dishes too. The chef was so nice to come and greet all the tables at opening. The café de olla (which comes with free refills) and the hot chocolate are fantastic drink options for brunch.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👍🏼 We had an amazing Sunday brunch at El Naranjo and everything was outstanding. If you’re looking for authentic Mexican food in Austin, this place is a must-try. The dishes were beautifully presented, full of flavor, and clearly made with high-quality ingredients. The service was excellent, Adan our server was friendly, and very attentive, which made the whole experience even better. The conchas were fresh and soft, and the café de olla was rich, perfectly spiced, and one of the best I’ve had in Austin — highly recommend ordering both. Great atmosphere, great brunch spot, and perfect for a date or weekend outing. We will definitely be back and will be recommending El Naranjo to anyone looking for great Mexican brunch and coffee in Austin.

I would highly recommend El Naranjo for special occasions or if you’re looking for an elevated Mexican restaurant that TRULY delivers, both in food and service. My boyfriend and I have celebrated our anniversary and his birthday here, and each time they’ve made the experience feel genuinely special. The staff is incredibly kind and thoughtful; they surprised us with complimentary champagne for our anniversary and ice cream with a candle for his birthday. The food is consistently excellent. I especially love their salsa macha and handmade blue corn tortillas. My boyfriend ordered the pozole verde from their monthly Guerrero special, and as someone native to Guerrero who has had pozole my entire life, I can confidently say it was top tier. I’ll definitely be back for it myself. I’ve also had their mole verde, which was equally delicious. The drinks are strong, vibrant, and beautifully balanced.

What a lovely dinner on a Friday night. The vibrant flavors in the ceviche was sensational. The mole had a subtle complexity where we enjoyed every bit. A la diabla dish (not pictured) was the right spice level to where you could appreciate the flavor of each pepper 🌶️. This is a lot of words to simply say - 5 stars.

Had a wonderful experience at this restaurant! First and foremost, our server Sarah was fantastic. The food was beyond amazing and the seasonal cocktail was delicious. This is hands down one of the best Mexican restaurants I’ve ever been to.

I got: The empanadas: could be filled with anything really, the masa is a pillowy blanket wrapping the filling with the lightest crisp on the outside from being perfectly fried. Pulpo & papas: perfect! Octopus was cooked perfectly. I actually wanted to lick the plate. Chamorro: this pork shank was huge and split well between. 2-3 ppl. It comes with tortillas but it's not enough. Ask for extra when ordering. This citrus notes in the pork coupled with the pickled onions were unfeogetable. The drinks: We had four cocktails off of the menu and all four were wonderful. 10/10 I do recommend a visit.

This restaurant offers an authentic Mexican dining experience, with incredibly friendly staff and delicious food. It’s also quite vegetarian-friendly. We tried the chocolate tamales with marigold ice cream, and they were absolutely amazing.

We visited this place mainly for the chiles en nogada, the fact that they serve them it's already a win and they were good. Tortillas here are really good as well, kinda reminds me of my home town.

El Naranjo’s food is always excellent. Their menu often features drinks and dishes inspired by specific states in Mexico. I’ve had and enjoyed their dinner before (highly recommend the filete and house-made ice cream), but this was my first time having brunch. The queso fundido (with handmade corn tortillas), ceviche and huevos benedictos were all impressive. I definitely scarfed down the queso before managing a photo (oops). And I definitely couldn’t go without a jar or 4 of their salsa macha. They do ship, but I still tend to purchase extra whenever I’m in Austin.

Incredible food. Wonderful, all made from scratch. Meat and sauces were incredible. I had a cocktail, it was delicious and light. Can't recommend highly enough, will be back. Gerry was the perfect waiter, and was so helpful in choosing the right meals for us. His recommendations were spot on.

Went for brunch and we loved it! everything was delicious and fairly affordable. The mole was some of the best we have ever had, and the chilaquiles were super fresh and zingy.

I’ve eaten dinner AND brunch here, and both were fabulous. For dinner we tried the ceviche and empanadas to start, and the halibut a la diabla and one of the seasonal/special moles with halibut as our mains. I’d recommend it all. You can’t go wrong with traditional Oaxacan mole prepared by a James Beard award winning chef. For brunch we started with the vanilla pan dulce, made in-house, because I wanted to dip it in my cafe de olla. It’s a must. For mains we had the huevos rancheros, huevos benedictos, and the chilaquiles divorciados with over-medium eggs. All were delicious. The atmosphere is great, the decor is modern and minimalist yet relaxing, and their authentic tableware compliments the presentation of the food. The service is impeccable. Your water glass is never empty and the servers are so knowledgeable about the menu and ingredients. Caesar is amazing and will take the best care of you.

First of all their customer service was awesome, place felt cozy, has a great atmosphere everything we ate was delicious. I ordered the cochinita pebil which was bone tender and citrusy, it came with a side of refried black beans and tortillas, my daughter had enchiladas verdes which were so delicious (I had a small piece) and our appetizer were the empanadas de huitlacoche. The fusion of flavors was amazing.

Wonderful dinner with friends and the food and service was outstanding. We each ordered a different selection so we could try multiple dishes - verify, all were wonderful. Chef de la Vega's ability to balance multi-levels of flavors was perfect in each selection.

This place is absolutely delicious! The ambiance, the vibe, the atmosphere, all amazing. The staff is phenomenal! Appetizers: Ceviche de la Semana - 4/5 Tostaditas de Atun al Chintextle - 5/5 Queso Oaxaca Fundido - 5/5 Entrees: Camarones y Hongos a la Macha - 4/5 Chuletas de Cordero - 5/5 Desserts: Chocolate Cake - 4/5 Cheesecake - 5/5 Our waiter was amazing! Every single recommendation he had, phenomenal. The queso Oaxaca fundido and tostaditas are must orders. So flavorful and delicious. The chuletas (lamb) was cooked perfect, nice and juicy. The sauce and potatoes that accompanied it were sooo tasty. Definitely order the cheesecake. It's a burnt cheesecake style but is served chilled. The center is creamy and slightly chilled. It's out of this world, paired with the sweetness of the fresh strawberries and sauce...mouthwatering. Love this place, can't wait to come back and try even more! The restaurant itself is sooo cute. Really love the decor.

El Naranjo is one of our favorite places to go for interior Mexican cuisine. Their James Beard award is well deserved in my opinion and a testament to their commitment to traditional flavors. Our recent visit to celebrate my wife’s birthday was a wonderful experience. The staff is always super friendly and attentive. They have a wonderful bar area and a nice craft cocktail menu. The bread service they offer is outstanding. The Matcha is worth getting some to take home. Honestly I can’t say enough great things about El Naranjo so just do yourself a favor and eat here.

Giving a 4 star review mostly because we weren't impressed by our main entrees, huevos rancheros and enmoladas. The queso fundido with chorizo and corn tortillas did not disappoint though. Atmosphere is enjoyable and service was good.

Had some good dishes here. All pretty solid. The duck was disappointing because it was so overcooked I couldn’t cut into it. Love the vibe.

The food is outstanding at El Naranjo but the atmosphere falls short of a high end restaurant. It feels more like a nicely decorated fast food space and as the restaurant filled (we went early) it became very noisy. They have a great happy hour with $5 off appetizers and a small break on drinks. We had specialty margaritas and guacamole to begin then each ordered a different entree. The moles are their specialty among the creative Oaxacan fare. All of us enjoyed what we ordered. The service was excellent too. The cost was $75 per person.

Unremarkable surroundings showcase average tasting food. Pork was a 4-5 star but duck gamey and not prepared well. Drinks are pricey even for Austin. Waiter was very sweet but novice at best.

GREAT SERVICE Local place that was recommended to us as elevated Mexican food. The only thing elevated was the price. Food is kinda lacking appropriate texture and seasoning at this spot. My mole dish was underwhelming and very bland. The octopus dish was better, but barely had any octopus in it. Potatoes lacked seasoning and crispiness. Would pass on going here in future.
