Early lunch on a Monday, 3/6/26. Sat at the counter and had great service along with a view of the preparation of the delicious food. Wife had a pepperoni slice that she said was spot on. I ordered the 1/2 of an Italian sandwich. Apparently it is usually served cold but I asked is I could get it hot and toasted and there was no hesitation in telling me they could do that. I watch as my sandwich was being built and then heated. The bread was toasted and she took great pride in making sure the meat was hot and the cheese was melted before constructing the sandwich. If you sat at a table you would never get to see this action! The sandwich came and it was amazing! The photo shows the sandwich I ordered...and this is just a 6"! Great restaurant and well worth a visit.
Home Slice Pizza is a must visit when your in Austin. Located on South Congress going towards downtown Austin, it's surrounded by amazing shops and places to visit. The pizza is Heavenly and the service is even better. Great place to enjoy that Austin Vibe everyone talks about and wants to experience. You can dine in if you have a little patience or you can grab a slice next door from the little side restaurant if you want to walk down SoCo and enjoy Austin while eating world class pizza.
Found the best pizza joint in Austin!!! Pizza was delicious and staff was so friendly made us feel right at home. 8 in this family and they didn't complain about our noise. Great place to eat highly recommended HOME SLICE South Congress. DEFINITELY coming back here when we come back to Austin!!!! Classic pepperoni can't go wrong, margherita pizza finger licking good!!!!
This place was incredible! I glad I found a great place to go when I need to get a good slice of pizza. I love the salad, I chose Pear Gorgonzola and I LOVED, highly recommend! Then the pizza came: half White Pie With Spinach and half white clam pizza. I we enjoy the combination. The service was great, she gave us options and offer the different drinks options, we ended up with lemonade which was really good. Finally, the place it's cozy, a bit dark inside but you can seat inside and outside (based on availability).
Just moved here and am very glad I found what me and most consider is the best pizza in ATX and here's why. They serve proper NY style/size pizza by the slice or pie. My group and I had a whole pepperoni pie, many lonestars along with with multiple cheese slices. Ingredients were so fresh and flavors are well balanced. My first visit was at the s congess location and right away our service was swift and coupled with a welcoming southern charm. Total team effort here, I'm guessing because they were so busy but I know why now. Home Slice is definitely a great launching pad for a day or night on south congress.
My wife and I live about 30 mins away, but we had a staycation in Austin, so she took me here for the first time for lunch (I’ve only lived in Central Texas a couple years). We weren’t starving, so we just got stuff to share: Garlic Knots, Slice of Pizza and Half an Italian Sub. I was SUPER happy about it! I’m from upstate New York, and I’d put that slice up against anyone up there. And I’m a fat guy — soooooo consider me a pizza sommelier! Garlic Knots: These were just OK — I’d be fine not (see what I did there?) getting them again. I need more garlic butter on top! (Pictured: 2 of 4 knots) Pepperoni Pizza: These picture shows just half of a slice (they were kind enough to slice a slice in half), but wow, great slice of pizza! Crisp bottom, very flavorful, excellent crust ! (Pictured: Half of one slice) Italian Assorted Sub: We heard it was the best Italian sub in the area — and I figured it was just a tourist trap kinda thing. This sub was legit — 3” thick, lots of meat (my wife wished there was less! Crazy!), nice slices of tomatoes and onions, and shredded lettuce, which I love on a sandwich. The bread itself was crazy good. Perfectly toasted, soft and crunchy somehow at the same time, and it was a wide sandwich. What I mean is — my wife and I split a 6” sub, and it wasn’t like getting half of a sub from Jersey Mike’s (which I like!). This was a big sandwich. If I came alone, I’d get the half-sub, rather than a whole. It’s big. We got the hot peppers on the side and they were tasty, too! Our server was Lalo — super nice, helpful and gregarious. Everything you want from a pizza place server! The atmosphere was as it should be — dark, unpretentious, and the table was super clean. I added a pic of our bill — we left stuffed, and happy that we got to try those three things. If we did it over again — maybe no knots, and a whole slice of pepperoni each!
Very much enjoyed my visit. Food was great, really nice atmosphere. There wasn't a table free when I arrived, but my name was put down on the wait list and when I popped back a short while later I was seated quickly. I may however just go for pizza slices next time rather than a whole one on my own... yes I was a piggy, but I didn't struggle as it was soooo nice.
First off, let me just say, Lexi made my experience truly great. Beautiful smile accompanied by outstanding service. So I thank her from the absolute bottom of my heart! The Pizza was 11/10. A true slice of Brooklyn in Austin. I was impressed and neither one of the pizza’s I ordered lasted more than 5 minutes on their plates. Outstanding in every way!
Home Slice Pizza is a true Austin treasure! We were there for their 20th birthday celebration which Travis County officially recognized as Home Slice Pizza Day on November 15th and the whole event was such a blast! My husband, Guy Perry with Horizon Bank, was proud to help support the celebration, and we also had the chance to volunteer, which made the day even more meaningful. Of course, the food is always the star. Their pizzas are legendary, but my personal obsession is the Italian sub with a side of marinara....easily one of the best sandwiches in Austin. Whether you’re grabbing a slice, sharing a pie with friends, or celebrating a big Austin moment, Home Slice never misses. Love this place! 🍕💛
I came here with my son on a little weekend trip we took and it was so fun. It was the first thing we did after landing in Austin and it was a perfect start to the trip. We came around 930pm but the restaurant was still plenty full. The hostess was really nice and chatted with us about our trip. Out server was great too. The restaurant is kept darkish at night and had a bar vibe, but not uninvitingly for a kid. My son actually loved it, he said he'd ever been on a place like it before. The pizza is New York style ish. You never really quite copy it, but it was delicous. Pretty thin, very crispy, and good sauce cheese ratio. My favorite style. We got mile and cookies at the end. The cookies were intense, super think and delicious chocolate chip. The milk was whole 😂 This place was perfect and is recommend anyone check it out!
Home Slice Pizza 🍕 My favorite NY style pizza in Austin. My cousin’s band Wiretree played here during one SXSW so I have fond memories of that but I have been visiting this restaurant for over a decade. It is a great place to just stop in for a slice. They now have a 2nd location next door so even more capacity. I have always had a great meal here and it is a mandatory stop on my visit. Giant slices and a wide variety of toppings as well. I will add more pictures of the food soon but suffice it to say this is a beloved spot for me when I am in ATX.
An Austin staple. The walk up window is always a hit if you need a bite while shopping South Congress, but don’t miss out on the classic pizzeria vibes inside. It’s dark and moody, but with the open kitchen still lively and fun. The service is always great and the pizza is a solid take on a classic NY pie. You can also order the dough to go if you’re having pizza night at home!
We went to the original homeslice pizza in Austin. My son is in a wheelchair, plus we had our dog, which means we had to sit outside. The problem was at the end of the wheelchair ramp to the patio was a set of steps to actually get on the patio. VERY poor design. But I gave this place 5 stars for service because they went out of their way to serve us at a table behind the restaurant usually reserved for takeout. It was shaded and with a fan, soft was very comfortable. Wished we could have sat at the real patio, but they did the best they could. My son and his girlfriend had vegan eggplant pizza, I had an eggplant parm sub and my husband had a slice of Sicilian pizza. The food was great and the beer was cold. Milo had plain grilled chicken and water. If in Austin I recommend you try it out.
Want to start off by saying the restaurant itself is very cozy. Choice of booths, sitting at the bar, or a normal table. I’m a sucker for a booth so that’s what I went with. Milo who was my server was most pleasant and helpful with suggestions being my first time here. Had a beer to go along with the pizza and was pleasantly surprised. Initially just ordered a slice of pepperoni but after falling in love with that, and the server giving me a slice of sausage and garlic pizza I decided to take a box back to the hotel. Beer was incredible, pizza was out of this world and as my pops said “best pizza I’ve ever had”. Service was also outstanding and the atmosphere in general is great. Wish I lived here so I could be a regular of the place. Long story short this is the spot to go to if you’re in Austin and want a legit pizza!
If you're craving top-tier pizza, this is the place to be! The food is good, pizza is great and they have one of those mozzarella cheese container things on tables, they also had great dessert but it is filling. Service is solid, the staff is friendly and quick, though during peak hours, you might wait a bit. Still, their upbeat attitude makes up for any delay. As for the atmosphere, it’s dim but I oddly like it, it’s a fun spot whether you’re dining in with friends or grabbing a quick bite. Overall: 4.7/5 — Highly recommend! Home Slice lives up to the hype.
Manager Chad and server Lalo took amazing care of us on 5/18. We promise it won’t be 15 more years before we return! Thank you for the sweet way to celebrate our return to our favorite local ATX pizza spot. Don’t miss out on the chocolate chip cookies. They’re so rich that we enjoyed them for a few days after. We look forward to our next Home Slice experience. — Your friends from Boston :)
Monday evening we were pleasantly surprised to be seated quickly as this place is always busy and for good reason. We ordered a large pizza: 1/2 eggplant (thinly sliced) pizza and 1/2 pepperoni with mushrooms baked to a thin crust perfection (chef's kiss). We shared a large caesar salad that came with a garlic bread knot with an additional order of marinara sauce. Customer service was exceptionally courteous which makes the dining experience even more. The ambience is really nice and spacious. We did go for the gusto and got tiramisu to share and it was worth it.
A pretty good NYC style pizza by the slice place in Austin. Dough was soild, cheese and sauce was good. Way better than most places trying to do NYC style pizza in the Lone Star State.
We stopped by Home Slice Pizza on South Congress and really enjoyed it. The location is excellent, right in the heart of SoCo. The pizza had a great crispy crust but was still perfectly foldable—exactly how a slice should be. Good price for the area, and the cheese was delicious. It was a bit greasy, but nothing more than you’d expect from a solid, cheesy slice. Overall, tasty pizza and a reliable stop on South Congress!
Homeslice came highly recommended, but I found it to be overpriced and mediocre. Pizza is my all-time favorite food, so I consider myself to be a bit of an expert in the field of marinana, mozzarella, and crust. Homeslice is all hype. First, parking is a mess. It's impossible to find a spot in the restaurant's lot, and you have to park way far away in an adjacent neighborhood. It only costs $2 to park, but still a pain. The line for a slice was crazy, but we got in it. They moved the line quickly. Since it was our first time and we wanted to sample several things, we ordered a slice of pepperoni, a slice of cheese, and a small Italian sub. After jockeying for position, we finally got a place to sit after waiting almost 15 minutes. They have seating on an outdoor patio, which has to be unpleasant on hot, humid days. It took a long time to get our order, and we waited nearly 30 minutes after ordering. An employee came out and screamed out name, and we had our noms. Even at first glance, the pizza slices looked disappointing. Not only were they small, but they were clearly lacking enough cheese. So many bites had no cheese at all! Pizza needs plenty of cheese, people! The sauce and crust had absolutely no flavor. It needed some garlic, salt, oregano, something, ANYTHING! The pepperoni was particularly gross. It tasted like a wet dog smells. Barf. It went unfinished. The Italian sub looked good, but was mediocre. The only thing it had going for it was the toasted bread. Other than that, you can get far better sandwiches just about anywhere except Subway. For how pricey this place was, I can't believe the high reviews and ratings. Maybe Austin locals aren't picky about their pizza, but I would never come back to eat here. Ya'll are crazy to think this is a good restaurant.
