A delicious fusion. Surprised by the gf vegan tiramisu cake. Portion size is healthy and not super-sized.
BEST lemongrass tofu I've ever had. Please open a location in San Antonio!! No one here knows how to make presentable delicious tofu like this place. Also love that they have vegan options!
Love the food here. Enough said in my opinion. I've been coming here since I first moved into Houston. I usually go for the five spice hen. Anything shaking is good, wonton soup delish, and the garlic noodles a little greasy but if you like garlic it's worth it. You can't really go wrong in my opinion. The staff is chill but not rude. The ambience is a little lacking. It is right across from the Menil so I usually recommend it to those planning a trip there.
I like Lua Viet kitchen so much because it’s really cozy and warm and I like it because I love the food. I love where the place is and you could see outside if you like or sit outside. All their food is delicious and all their drinks are just so good and I feel like the place is like my second favorite place to be. We love it so much that I would go to it every night if I could. I love the spot so much. I love the pho they make they don’t have like any fat meat in it because the kid pho is perfect and the big pho for the grown-ups and all their food they have. It’s just way too good for me I love it so much.Your re
As a vegan African American I absolutely love Lua Viet. The Tofu curry is phenomenal! I also love the crispy vegan spring rolls. I have been eating here for about 4 years now. My visit today reminded how much I appreciate this restaurant. Not only is the food exceptional, but the vibes are always elated, you can expect so good oldies music like Smokey Robinson, The Temptations etc. The staff is always friendly and diverse. Also be sure to take advantage of their $5 drinks during happy hour, I love the old fashions. Thank you Lua Viet for serving the Houston community.
LOVE coming here. The service here is impeccable. Thank you to all the staff, especially Abel for always being so courteous and helpful! Highly recommend the fried rice and the pho. We also like getting the side of broth because it’s soo good. Will definitely be back (likely next week and the one after..)
I am a plant-forward kind of eater and hubby is a meat lover, but we both LOVE this place! Plenty of veggie options for me and he’s very happy with his choices as well. I often get the Shaken or Lemongrass Tofu and add extra mushrooms ($1 more). He has gotten shrimp and chicken dishes in the past and always loves what he orders. It’s fast, it’s healthy and it’s SO delicious.
We've been coming here for about the past year. Food is mostly consistent. We dine in and order carry out about an even amount. There are two different gentleman that are usually on shift, running the food and cleaning the tables. They are very nice and speedy. Cashiers are usually dry. Barely speak. It's a chill spot. Standard cafe vibe. Not much of an ambiance, but it works. I recommend the garlic egg noodles with chicken (the chicken can be hit or miss). When ordering online, they don't give you soy or chile paste with the orders, so be sure to ask when you're picking up.
Lua Viet Kitchen might be tucked away in a strip mall next to the infamous Waffle Bus, but don’t let its modern aesthetic fool you. This place is all about authentic Vietnamese flavors crafted from fresh, bold ingredients you won’t find elsewhere. Shrimp Spring Roll: 8/10 * Pros: The mint and cilantro leaves added a refreshing burst to each bite, complementing the great consistency of the roll. * Cons: None noted, making it a standout starter. Pork Spring Roll: 7/10 * Pros: The roll had an intriguing twist with its jerky-esque strip of pork, providing a unique texture and taste. * Cons: The pork might be a bit too hidden for some, warranting a more fitting name like "Roll of the Hidden Pork." Lúa Beef Soup Pho Bo: 8.5/10 * Pros: Made with USDA beef stock and 44 Farms Certified Angus beef, this pho is fully garnished with bean sprouts, onions, green onions, basil, cilantro, rice patty herbs, and jalapeño. The rice patty herb adds a citrus note with a mild cumin flavor, keeping the soup authentic with a local twist. Perfect for cheering you up on a gloomy, stuffy-nosed day. * Cons: None noted, as the dish impressively blends traditional taste with local ingredients. Overall, Lua Viet Kitchen is cooking up something good—you can smell it, and you’ll definitely want it. With a multitude of options on the menu, there’s plenty to explore and enjoy. I look forward to trying more dishes in the near future.
Google reviews were promising and so we decided to visit. They have ample parking spaces, indoor and outdoor seating and has more of a Cafe vibe. The food we tried was definitely very good. The Spring rolls were fresh and the peanut sauce was good. Definitely recommend the Broad noodle, lemongrass chicken and chicken curry. The quality and quality of the food was good. We liked their Berry Cheese cake too. Definitely going back to try the other dishes on their menu.
Nice pho. The broth tasted different to the traditional flavour but good too. The quality of the beef was great. It was thick but surprisingly tender. This is different to your traditional pho beef but I much prefer theirs. There were lots of meat to enjoy with the noodles and broth, again this also stood out from other phos. I really enjoyed it. I will most likely visit again. The only thing I'd say is that I wish they had thicker rice noodles to choose from which I love more.
We came here specifically for the vegan options on the menu. The menu clearly indicates which items are vegan, and glutenfree which is fantastic and makes ordering so much easier. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. We ordered the vegan tofu with vegetables and a vegan tofu curry, which were both very good! The atmosphere here is relaxing and casual. Would recommend!
I NEVER give 5 stars but this place is DELICIOUS!!! You can taste the quality of the ingredients and the respect and love that goes into the food. If you live in #Houston and have not tried this place I suggest you head in. The beef and shrimp came with this lime dipping sauce that is divine!
This is a counter-service Vietnamese restaurant. The food is decent, but it is relatively expensive for Vietnamese cuisine in Houston. They offer a good selection of rice dishes and noodle soup, with the bo luk luk being pretty good. Portion size is average. They have a good beverage selection with a interesting selection of Tractor juices. The environment is modern, clean, bright, and comfortable, above average for Vietnamese shops. They have an indoor seating area and a decent patio outside with shade. A reasonable choice in the area if you are prioritizing a more comfortable environment with good enough food and can tolerate the slightly higher prices.
The food and service were great. I had the beef curry and it was very flavorful. There are many more different items on the menu I cannot wait to try on a return visit. However the chairs for the tables in the center are too small. As the meal went on I became more uncomfortable due to their shape. Everything else was great though.
Really good Vietnamese food with a lot of healthy options. My friends and I dropped in for lunch. You order at the register and not much to be said about service per se. We shared some spring rolls which were pretty good but I would say had way too many greens! Lol! The peanut sauce was very nice and rich albeit a bit too sweet for me. I got the Chicken curry Ga Xao Lan and was very happy with it. Flavorful, spicy, plenty of curry- was absolutely delicious! I believe one of my buddies got the Shaking beef bo luc lac and the other got the Angus seared beef. The both loved their dishes too. They have a good drink menu too and wish I had tried some of their teas.
This place was pretty nice. I was craving Pho and read the reviews so I came. There is a lot of aspects about the place to like, the atmosphere, cleanliness, and the food was good too. I ordered the Beef Pho and the Viet Side Salad. I will say the flavors aren’t as authentic as to what I am used to when it comes to Pho so if I return I don’t know if I would necessarily go for that again, but I would be open to trying something different. Overall decent place!
Long time patron. The freshness, great flavors, made to order, and easy parking keep me coming back. Tried the butterfly tea this time along with the salt & pepper tofu rice dish. The tea was a bit sweeter than I prefer so not sure I would order it again. Always appreciate that they offer a plant-based and allergy sensitive menu.
First time going...probably won't go back. I ordered beef pho and it had absolutely no flavor. The broth was lacking something? It also must not have been hot enough because my beef still tasted like blood. Service was good, polite atmosphere. Definitely not a good pho spot though.
