Gorgeous and cozy! It's like a fancy wine bar that quit her job as a fashion designer to play guitar on SoCo. The deals are good, the frozen drinks are great, and there was live music every time I went. Try their wine flights! They have a bunch of categories, vaguely describing a group of wines that the bartender selects for you. It's risky but rewarding. My favorite was the unusual whites. Seating inside and out with a window to order on the side of the house. Go an hour before sunset and enjoy this beautiful little hidden gem.

This is such a wonderful, relaxed place to find new wines to love as well as learn more about your own palette. We found a Chilean wine that we haven't been able to find anywhere in the states. The food is pretty good, too. :)

R
Rose Mitchell

House wine is always great. We’ve been going for years and it never disappoints. The atmosphere is everything. And the people. The staff remembers you quickly and it’s clear they’re a small local business that really cares about providing a memorable time for their guests.

M
Mario Williams

This is more than a wine bar, it's a wine experience. The staff is trained and educated before the first pour. Probably the most authentic example for true wine lovers in the Austin area. Their somme, Gretchen, is hands on having visited the premier vineyards of Europe. Working one on one with some of the most venerated growers in the world, she and House Wine's owner curate the best wine list in Austin.

D
Dana Cochrane

Cute atmosphere, fantastic little stage for cozy performances, and the staff is brilliant. More than 80 wines in house and the servers can't be stumped, they're excellent at recommending the right wine for your palette

This place is ridiculously cute! A wine bar....located in a house! How novel! Excellent choice of wines. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Hosts were able to make spot on recommendations with very little info. Some parking in the rear but plenty of paid spaces on the street. Ample indoor and outdoor seating...even heaters for when it is 50 degrees outside! This place is a total win!

So quaint and relaxing. They have live music on weekends and a great selection of wine. I enjoyed the fruity cheese board as well, and the green chile and chicken empanadas were delicious. The portions are small, so don't come hungry. Come ready to nibble and sip.

S

Lovely space to meet up with friends. They have a very thorough wine selection. Charming interior but their patio is the main draw. I've been visiting House Wine for at least 8 years.

I had the sorbet cocktail and it was delicious! The vibes are so cozy for a night out with the girls or a date with your honey.

If you are looking for a place where you can enjoy great wine and actually hear each other talk, this is the place! A cute house turned wine bar with cozy seating options, live music at times and great snacks ! The baked brie is always very good.

House Wine is the perfect atmosphere for a girls night! My book club loves coming here to have a yap & sip ❤️

Came here last night for open mic night with 6 other friends. They also have a selection of 10 bottles of wine for $25 each. One friend came at 7:30pm so we were able to get a table outside. It’s super cute here and there’s some pretty good talent for open mic night.

If you want a glass of wine close to downtown, ONLY go here! If you want a beer & a wine, ONLY go here! If you want a wine, beer, and a cheese plate, ONLY go here! Without writing a book about my multiple visits to House Wine, I'll simply layout in bullet point form: 1. My wife and I got engaged here with friends and family present for an immediate engagement party. House Wine service and ambiance was "ONLY go here" worthy! 2. For my wife's 40th birthday party, we celebrated with friends and family as well at House Wine! The service and ambiance was once again "ONLY go here" worthy! Thanks House Wine for being YOU!

Came here this past Sunday with friends to relax and have some wine. I had never heard of the establishment prior to this visit. My friend who lives in the area recommended we go as on Sunday's they have 1/2 off glasses of wine from bottles previously opened. Needless to say my mind was blown! I only ordered off the daily special menu and stuck with red wine; however, they have designated list for both white and red wines indicating which are on special. I started out with a Tempranillo then switched to a Bordeaux. They were both great tasting flavorful wines which usually sold for $10 and were marked at $5. My friends sampled the white wines which didn't seem to have that large of selection on special; nonetheless, his was tasty. Their normal wine menu is well rounded and plentiful. They also carry bubbly but that’s not on special on Sundays. Food is also available and we tried the Mediterranean plate; great tasting humus! We munched on some dark chocolate as we drank wine throughout; perfect for savoring the flavors of the wine. I really enjoyed the layout of the place. It was a cute house rehabbed with outdoor and indoor seating. We sat outdoors as it wasn’t too hot and their mist fans were blowing. On the side of the house they have three sofa sectionals where parties can chill and order without having to go inside. This place was a great discovery! I will definitely be back and not just on Sunday.

Really fun place with excellent wine! We enjoyed having wines recommended and trying new things. We even left with two bottles of one of the recommendations. I'm glad we stopped in!

Had a great time at the wine tasting event at House Wine. I bought my girlfriend the wine tasting as a birthday present, and we both really enjoyed the ambience and overall experience. The tasting took place in a large room in the back of the house where 8-10 couples were seated to participate in the tasting. They allowed us to sample 4 different types of wines (2 white, 2 red) which were accompanied by cheese/meat pairings. The pours were generous, and we got to learn a lot about how to taste and the notes involved in different wine types. They even made the Merlot pleasant!

R
Roberta Yildiz

Amazing Experience!! We hosted a birthday part in on our the inside area and it was a wonderful experience for all! The staff was extremely accommodating and definitely went above and beyond to make it a special evening! The wine tasting was informative and the wines were unique ones that everyone enjoyed. HIGHLY recommend for a small gathering.

House Wine is my favorite go-to place! I always say to those who haven't heard about it, "its like a local coffee café, but with WINE!" The atmosphere is lovely, cozy, laid-back and the staff are always so friendly and knowledgeable. It is the perfect place for a date night or a chill day with friends. I always recommend House Wine to anyone looking for a great, local place to hangout and have a drink, or a few!

Freaking wonderful place for wine and snacks. Last minute decision to go last evening for 4 of us. Parking was easy and there were plenty of great seating locations both inside and outside. First round of glasses and flight was indoor with the second round enjoyed on the back patio. Selection was excellent and prices good. We really enjoyed dealers choice for tasting selections based on responses to a few questions. We shared among our little group and everyone got chance to provide their views. Clearly a place we will return too for more chilling with wine, snacks and great friends!

This place is great! It's a little hidden gem off South Lamar. I stumbled upon it during their Monday Open Mic night and all of the acts we're fantastic! They did everything from Johnny Cash covers to creative raps to beautiful original songs. I felt welcomed the moment I got there! Plus, they have really good drink specials.

I have been coming here for years and it's one of the best little hideaways in Austin. Knowledgeable staff that has been here for years, so they remember you and know their stuff. Friendly, great selection, awesome happy hours and the live music is always really good. One of the best places, hands down.

A
Alyssa Potasznik

Pricey, but a lovely date spot with great wine and food.

T

This is one of the coziest places in town for wine. The wait staff is so nice and it's super chill. It doesn't get much cozier than this - comfy couches and chairs inside and tables outside. Super quaint, very OG Austin, not at all pretentious. The crowd here is classic Austin vibes! The parking can be challenging on the weekends so I suggest parking on the other side of Lamar on Lee Barton Dr. and walking over.

T
Tony Carroll

Owner is very nice. Had an error on my bill and she made it right and gave me a gift card. Really appreciated her for that. Love this place. Austin is losing places like this so go enjoy it!

We were wandering around and saw a funky little place right behind P. Terry's burger joint #1 and decided to check it out. The walled grotto with tables was perfect for relaxing with a bottle of wind and some appetizers. Service was not quite up to par (it was a little busy) but the guitarist picking and singing made it wonderful.

J
Jenna Clary

We went here for the first time this week on my birthday. It was awesome, I loved the atmosphere and lounge chairs and couches. The service was absolutely outstanding, my boyfriend commented several times about how much he likes the staff. The food and drinks were lovely. I wish we lived closer so we could go all the time, but we will be back for sure.

This wonderful wine bar has really expanded their selection over the years! They were always good but now they’re great. 💗 Very precious and delicious. It’s a great place to hang out for an evening and a great stop before or after catching a show at the Zach!

D

Love this spot! Cozy, intimate atmosphere, lots of good wine. Tiny, so not a great place for large groups unless the patio is open. The staff knows their product - at least the wine by the glass for sure - and are very helpful. When the weather is nice the patio is fantastic.

K
Kathryn Davies

SIGN UP FOR A WINE CLASS TODAY! All caps, yes I'm yelling, but its just enthusiasm. Their wine classes are SO fun and also SO much value for what you pay and what you get. Plus this is just such a precious and thoughtfully appointed space with an absolutely captivating wine menu. The staff is the cherry on top - the best of the best to be sure (shout out Blake and Gretchen). This place is such a treat whether you're there solo pretending to work remotely (guilty), with a group, or attending a wine class. Thank you House Wine for being such an oasis of happiness!!

I had a bridal dinner at house wine and it was PERFECT. The new little room they have opened up inside is precious. Monica was our waitress, she was wonderful, and ensured we had a great time. Would recommend 100000 times again.

Not many people know this, but you can host private events at this beautiful place for a very reasonable minimum purchase and no rental fee as long as you host it between 1-3, right before they open. We just hosted a wedding shower there and it was perfect for about 20 people. I love it for other reasons. It really is a little neighborhood gem, tucked away, quite and beautiful. The Sangria is great, and they just started carrying cider too, which is a favorite of mine. My daughter and stop in a grab the cheese and meet plate on the way to Blues on the Green sometimes and the baked brie is delicious too. Definitely recommend for showers or just a nice time with friends where you can actually hear each other talk!

I come to this place for the Open Mics on Monday night hosting some of the best singer songwriter talent in Austin. Even if I was not a musician I would find comfort in this place. They know their wine and the cheese boards are amazing. A low key and intimate vibe. Take your date here. Fabulous Customer service especially Gretchen 🥰

If you're looking to unwind after a long day or just relax on the weekend, House Wine is your place. It's a quaint little spot with small rooms where a glass of wine can be enjoyed and even some tasty small plates as well. From full bodied reds, to light white wines, and even some sparkling wines as well, it has a taste for anyone looking to sip and just let the day slip away. There are even a few beer choices if wine isn't your thing. The wine choices are from around the world, and flight options are available. Everything is currently ordered via an app and paid for. The service team then brings them out to your table with minimal contact for those worried about the pandemic. There is also a nice outdoor patio space in which dogs are allowed as well. So if you don't like you leave home without rover, then coming here is the next best things to home. Give it a try, you won't regret it.

The coziest wine bar in Austin - the place for meaningful, quiet conversations, subtle local live music, first or 100th dates, small groups, or solo work time with a glass of wine. Fantastic wine list, tapas - like cheese, meats, pizzas, and Mediterranean shareables, and the best vibe.

If you want a cozy, chill hangout spot to sit with friends and enjoy some drinks....this is a great choice. Bring your well-behaved furry companion and its like you're right at home. I thought service was very friendly, happy hour was great, and they served the right amount of appetizers for our drinks. Indoors is comfy but can be cold, bring a small jacket or wear pants. Outdoors is perfect with lots of shade this time of year. Small parking lot in the back for probably 6-8 cars. We'll be back with friends.

Incredibly cute and creative. Frosé is bright and refreshing. The Mediterranean summer wine flight is excellent, so well rounded and perfectly picked - the Sicilian Pet-Nat is the only thing I ever want to drink again. The Mountain white flight is also a good choice for bright minerality. Loved The Trio & Polka Dot pizza - the price point on the pizza was a little expensive but definitely don’t skip on the salty snacks!

I just want to say YOU ALL SUCK when it comes to delivery orders. I paid $38 for this? You all definitely over charged me. My meats missing, my mustard….missing. How could you charge me $6.50 for 6 glazed pecans? I bet if I arrived in person it never would’ve looked like this. Absolutely deplorable. I know y’all have bigger to go ramekins that you could have used because y'all used them for my olives and cornichons…..🙄 Edited: Kerry is truly compassionate and caring towards my order being wrong. What once was a frown was turned into a smile. I might not do any more to go orders, but I would love to visit and dine at your establishment. Plus the ambience it’s totally my style. Thank you for going above and beyond to rectify my order. You have created a loyal customer ❤️

This is the cutest little chill wine bar. My friend and I were in town for the weekend and wanted a low-key place to go — House Wine came through big! We found it through an Instagram ad of all things. The wine selection is great—they had Txakoli, which I love but rarely see at wine bars. The snack platters are the perfect amount of food and have lots of fun fixings—the cheese platter had chocolates and grapes and figs, plus the cheese. I wish I lived nearby—I would put this in my regular rotation!

Wow. I’m hesitant about sharing because I don’t want to give away my new favorite spot! This place has exceeded my highest expectations. Rachel was the warmest, friendliest bartender I’ve met in Austin, and Karrie (the owner, might be misspelling) was the sweetest. There was adorable seating inside and open, fun seating outside for the live music that we experienced. It felt so Austin and Greek at the same time! There is no doubt we have become fans. :)

Absolutely obsessed with this place. If you love natural wine, cozy vibes, and a little magic sprinkled into your night, this wine bar is it. The wine selection is thoughtfully curated—funky, fresh, and approachable—with staff who genuinely know their stuff and are happy to guide you to your perfect pour. The charcuterie and tapas are just as impressive (the savory baked brie is my favorite 🤤). Add in live music that sets the mood without overpowering conversation, tarot card readings that are equal parts fun and insightful, and an insanely cute aesthetic, and you’ve got a spot that feels special from the moment you walk in. Can’t wait to come back!

This little gem is hidden near Fresa’s on 1st St. and I’m so glad I found it! If you want a cozy, relaxed place to have some wine with friends, this is the spot. They have an amazing wine selection — over 50 wines from all over the world — and the staff is super friendly and really knows their stuff. The vibe is boho-chic with comfy furniture, cozy little nooks, and an atmosphere that is so relaxing that it makes it difficult to leave. The patio is also great and dog-friendly, which is a big plus here in dog-loving Austin! They also serve cocktails and great food. The boards are beautiful and absolutely delicious, the handmade pizzas are amazing, and you can even make your own s’mores for dessert. This place checks all the boxes for me — great wine, food, atmosphere, and service. I’ll definitely be back soon (probably with a few friends in tow)! 🍷🐶

This little gem is hidden near Fresa’s on 1st St. and I’m so glad I found it! If you want a cozy, relaxed place to have some wine with friends, this is the spot.

Amazing live music !! The atmosphere and staff made me feel so at home. It’s a great place to grab a cocktail. Rachel was amazing with her recommendations and Carrie the owner was so welcoming. will definitely be coming back!!

We love the new location. The staff is so friendly and helpful with suggestions. Whether you're new to wine or an experienced connoisseur, check it out. We enjoyed the cheese board and bottle special for Labor Day weekend.

Great happy hour joint. Amazing wine selection, there is something for everyone. The staff if extremely knowledgeable about wine and always willing to make suggestions if you need one. Great patio too. The food is a bit overpriced if you ask me. I usually just stick to the wine and will go across the street to p.terry's after.

Went here because of a groupon. Staff knew what they were doing and gave great suggestions, even when their menu was recently changed. Timing your visit if you want a quieter atmosphere may be difficult but we weren't too bothered by noise level. Cheese platter was excellent and so were the wines we picked.

Super cute little wine bar. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. There is some seating inside, but the majority is out. They do have fans and heaters for extreme weather. Parking can be an issue as metered street parking can be limited at times. Worth a stop in for a good glass of wine!

A nice small intimate setting for wine lovers, but there are other drinks as well as small bites. Sometimes some live music, classy decor. Staff very good at recommendations based on what you like in a wine, loved the both I tried!

It's a tiny place with limited parking. But it's a great spot to meet friends and sample their wine flights. We were there on a cool evening, so we didn't sit outside and listen to the live music. But it could be an option on a warmer night.

Always feel welcomed when I visit and they also have a great selection in addition to wines if you prefer cider or beer. Friendly service and ideal set up for holding small meetings, first dates, or one on one time. Usually have live entertainment but it can be a little too loud unfortunately if you prefer conversation.

Cute spot with a great selection of diverse wines. Home grown Austin feel with shaded outdoor space and live music most evenings. There are regularly some very affordable specials that make your wallet happy. The only downside is the small service counter that makes it difficult to wait in line to order, though the friendly, knowledgeable staff largely make up for that small inconvenience.

Parking and seating is very limited, but the wine list is very extensive. Tastings are available if you are not familiar with a wine and the apitizers are delicious and we'll presented. It's a small venue (in an old house and the rooms remain) so get there early if you want to enjoy happy hour.

The house has a very cute atmosphere and the wine here is great. I had two different white wine flights and all of them were great. I’m giving 4 instead of 5 stars because parking here is very difficult. I would advise taking an uber.

This is a really cool wine bar. An old house with seating inside and out. The charcuterie board is excellent. So delicious! They have a wide variety of wines too including white and reds. The service was just okay. The servers were not the friendliest and it would be a five-star if they provided a better customer service. Overall a nice restaurant and experience and we'll be back.

House Wine is a great option for anyone looking for a high-quality, affordable wine. The selection of wines is diverse and changes regularly, ensuring that there is always something new to try. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, making the experience even more enjoyable. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, making it a great place to unwind after a long day or to spend time with friends. Overall, House Wine is a fantastic choice for wine lovers and is highly recommended.

Cozy little place that gets killed chill out Hampton wine and for beer can order a pizza I ordered a pizza there the pizza was about average not really anything spectacular they have little desserts that were pretty tasty and it time to have loud music so I guess the best time I would go there as when they enjoy whatever snacker bigger one here enjoying their

Nice cozy place for appetizers and wine sipping. Lot of wine choices by the glass. Nice and 70ish environment inside.

Extensive and interesting selection of wines by the glass but the service was very poor. I was served a sparkling rose that was nearly lukewarm. Later I had a full bodied red blend that was served at fridge temp. Way too cold. Overall the employees at the bar were disorganized, unfriendly, and just seemed irritated to be there serving wine to customers. I will probably go back and give it a try, if only because the wine list is great.

This Wine Bar is one of a kind. The interior is cozy and the wine selection is excellent. And the food (pizza, cheese plates etc) is also great. The only thing that bothered me: We were a group of six girls with a reservation on a Friday night. After two hours they brought us the check and asked us to leave cause a new reservation was coming to our table. That’s not how we imagined our Friday bar trip to end. Bad.

I really wanted to like the place more. It is really cute, and there was a stand up bass player on the porch. There are not many great wine deals though like at other wine bars. The prices weren't terrible, but not great. They had various cheese boards, but those prices seemed a bit steep - I have made and sold cheese boards in the past and for how little cheese you get, it just feels way to expensive. They didn't have any pizzas the night I came, which was a bummer. I ordered the empanadas, and they are VERY small, so be aware. I ordered a bottle to split, and a glass of the house red. The house red was pretty decent for $5. The location is kind of awful as well. If you are just sitting inside, the location is fine, just not great. But sitting on the patio, there is a lot of road noise. Ah well. It isn't bad, just not my cup of tea.

*edit to clarify what the business response clearly misunderstood. We were a wine tour of 6 people. When we showed up, there were approximately 14 customers already there, who had already been served, one table getting ready to leave, not newly arriving with us. I asked for what is in the flights because some of us have allergies but after the blank stares (practically a glare from the male with the mustache) and lack of helpful response, we opted not to buy flights. This is a smaller place and the staff seemed overwhelmed by the approximately 20 customers they had. We came in on a wine tour, just 6 of us (we were part of that 20 count i mentioned above). We sat in the corner benches, which are super cute, and tried to figure out what we wanted since we intended to do a "tasting". There are flight names listed in the menu but not what they include. I went up to the bar/ordering area to ask how we know what's in the flights and the guy and girl behind the counter gave me blank stares and said they pick wines that are appropriate to the flight name... we each ordered a glass of wine instead, and promptly left. I actually recommended to the wine tour co that they take it off their list as this doesn't seem like a place for a wine tasting.

I booked a reservation for around 2 weeks ago and when we arrived they had lost the reservation and couldn't find anywhere to seat us. Additionally, they fully ignored me and everyone else in my party for a a full 15 minutes. I don't doubt the wine and food is lovely and the place is very cute, but the service was absolutely terrible :( pretty much everyone sitting down had empty glasses and plates.

I was pretty disappointed with this place. I found it on the Nudge and was excited to sit and sip wine in a cozy atmosphere and have to pre dinner appetizers. The wine was fine and the atmosphere was cute. But I don’t think it’s super worth it for the price. Me and my partner each got a flute of 3 wines to try and we got two appetizers that came in plastic plates that looked like they were made for a toddler. The bread and butter we got that was $8 looked like it came from the grocery store and was so small. The salmon we got tasted good but also looked like it came from a package. The staff was inattentive and unfriendly. Overall I was unimpressed. It wasn’t worth the $75 we spent there. It has potential to be a great place but I think they need to step up their game.

Great atmosphere, service ruined it. Came in to enjoy a few glasses with my partner and the mustached gentleman behind the counter was having a rough day (a little short, slamming menus, etc). Ruined the location, we left to go down the street. Sad, used to be a great place.

Good selection of wines and a nice relaxing spot. Gripe was with the service and attitude. Who needs the aloof snobbery? Ordered a white flight and just asked what the selections were. He just couldn't be bothered and said everything was on the menu. It wasn't. Only 1 was. When I asked again he simply said the menu must have changed. He brought over a completely different flight and took the first one away, without even asking. We purchased a bottle to go. Menu says half off to go. But our $58 bottle was $36. Guy just argued and said that is what the system says, so the menu must be wrong. Sorry bro, zero tip for that attitude Won't be going back

No one to let know about your reservation, 15 minutes waiting for someone to ask if we want anything, cashed out immediately after ordering something. I imagine it was a bad day considering other reviews but come on man

Me and friend were sitting on the patio. The wind blew hard enough to break and snap the umbrella. The umbrella hit my face very hard. When i looked at where it snapped, it was taped together. No one offered help and i had to go inside to tell staff to check it. No one came out. The place is vibey but i am disappointed in their care for customers.

Never in my life have I experienced what i experienced at this place. Entered here with a group of two of my friends (the youngest of whom is 26) upon entering the person who would be waiting on us told us “if we order drinks he will snatch them from us exactly at 12am and kick us out” it was 10:30 pm. We said ok even though it was a weird and aggressive comment and went to order drinks. He next asked us for our IDs which he looked at every single one for minutes, I am a Texan and even my ID he acted as if it was fake. He then refused to allow us to order as he said our IDs were fake, I encouraged him to contact the police and we would stay so he could see we were truly well over the legal age but he refused. He even began to raise his voice at me and say how the fact that I was still there showed I and my friends were under age. We are well over the legal age. It was obvious he chose to not serve us for a different reason as there was no logical explanation. I am extremely disappointed and my guests were frankly shocked. He kept asking us “where are you from?” Demeaningly. Unfortunately this but a big damper on the night. Frankly, it does not seem like all people are welcome at this establishment.

Wine is not good. Keep in mind the flights are just based on whatever bottles they have open…no telling how long they have been open, so it’s kind of a gamble and they told us this. So we get 3 tasters in tiny glasses that have no room to breath, and let me tell you, I’m not a wine snob but all 3 of those wines were terrible. My wife and I both thought so. I told the ladies the flight was not good and brought back all 3 glasses completely full. Their response…”oh that sucks, well do you want to close out with just that?” So not wanting to be an A hole, I paid $28 for 3 tastings of crap wine. Don’t come here. A good establishment would at least offer a tasting of 3 different wines or offer to reimburse. Obviously this place does not stand behind their wines and knows they couldn’t have given us anything better. Our waitress next door at Lenoir tried to warn us but it was the only spot walking distance open so we tried it…bad idea. Stay away if you like good wine. Place is cute and with good wine could be such a good place.
